I think it's easy for a lot of ex-UO players to say that they miss UO.

It has changed a bit, but basically it is still the same UO.  There are still many different adventures to be had and a ton of new content for most old players to try out.

I'm going back to World of Warcraft.  Why?  Because it's one of the only games in the market, beside Ultima, that I actually enjoy logging onto.

exaclty ,it feel soulless, like ncsoft kept it for an expension or whatever their plan is for pvp lol

Games don't have souls. What you put in is what you are getting back. The game may not motivate you to participate but then say that. Blaming it for something that you don't do seems misplaced.

Soul is just a fancy word of saying "To have meaning."

Sure a game can have a soul.  To me it comes down to how much a company loves their game and how much effort they put into their game.  World of Warcraft has a very strong art style in the game along with great animations for their characters.  The music is top notch, orchestrated.  Each piece of music fits into the location you are at.  To me WoW has soul due to how much effort and love has been poured into the game to have it see the light of day.  The same can be said about any Blizzard game actually.  Some companies make games that just 'feel' right, to me that's how a game has soul.

It's not so much what you put into it.  If the game doesn't feel right, why should you continue to play it?  Aion, to me, didn't feel right.  The art style was a bit confusing at times, the land layout was not that impressive and the animations were not really convincing.  The music succeeded half of the time, depending where you were.  It almost felt like NCSoft tried to just get the game out there and have it sell on just it's looks rather than how it plays or how it 'feels.'

Hope that makes some sense.

I do enjoy PVPing in WoW.  Can't say that it's as in depth as Ultima, but still enjoyable

I play both.

I used to be pretty hardcore about PC gaming, but anymore I just play a MMO on my PC.  Aside from anything Blizzard (Starcraft, Diablo etc...just love their games)

Most games I play on my 360, just because I love my HD and my couch.  Plus a lot of my friends don't do PC gaming, so it's a plus for me there too.

ok good, so can anyone help me with my prbolem?

What kind of error are you getting?

That code should work, for I just used it last week.  The trick is, if you already used it on the account, you will have to create another EA sign in ID.  Try that and see what happens.

ok, it works now i was entering it in the wrong pace >_<

but if i do like the game i cant pay for it :/ credit card only and i have a debit card..

I only have a debit card too and I've been playing UO for years.  When they mean credit, it also works as a debit.

Catskills has a great amount of people as well, but I think the community in Catskills is some of the best in the game.  There are some great player run events that happens too (each month Hawkeye Pike will have a black market sale...it's really engaging)

Have to agree with you there. I play on Catskills as well, and it's been my home since 1998. Some really great people I've met in my time there.

We have much in common, MaeEye. I also am a UO vet who enjoy's WoW.

Awesome!  I think quite a few old UO players play in WoW.  Not sure why, but it's good to see ;-)

When I first started UO, I played a lot of Napa Valley and Chessy.  But I would say in my later UO life, I was a Catskills person.  I enjoyed my time in Catskills way more than Napa or Chessy.  It really is a nice home to have as far as shards go.

It would have been a disappointment even if I had read about that.

In any case, I doubt I'll make it to the Abyss zone. The PvE required to get there is putting me to sleep as I creep closer to 20.

If you can't muster up the energy to level to 20, then this game, and MMOs in general, are not for you. Playing a console or FPS where there are no levels that might put you to "sleep" might be more your speed.

I disagree.  I can 7x GM in UO (which takes more time than any other game on the market) and I can get 70 in WoW fine.  Aion, I just can't seem to make it past 15, I just run out of steam before I get there.

Flying sounds cool and all, but it's basically just like swimming in any other game.

Still fun to glide though :)

I can't same much for PvP in Aion, but I will say that the PvE content is extremely easy in the game.  Through my whole time there, never once did I group up with other players to finish a quest.  I was able to do it all my self, as a sorcerer.  I have not done some hardcore PvE in WoW since last year, so I can't say how it is now.  Although I do remember doing quite a few quests with other just because I couldn't do it on my own.

That's just my .02, if Aion isn't the same as WoW in the PvE difficulty department, then it easier.

the trial is not wroking for me :(

Give it a bit, yesterday my Shard Catskills was down a bunch. The expansion released yesterday.

I know it suxs but  server issues are common the week of a patch.

Hang on buddy it's worth it.

lol ok will do, I have actually wanted to try out this game for a long time but have been discourage by its age...but the new expansion should hopefully fill up the servers a bit.

The two servers (shards) I would recommend are either Atlantic or Catskills.

Atlantic has the most amount of people in the game.

Catskills has a great amount of people as well, but I think the community in Catskills is some of the best in the game.  There are some great player run events that happens too (each month Hawkeye Pike will have a black market sale...it's really engaging)

3d all the way.  It's supported the most by EA and looks pretty good for the game.

UO player or not.  Anyone here going to dive in and try the new expansion out?  Honestly we haven't had a real new expansion since Mondains Legacy.

I agree with you 100%.

It seems that the people that quit UO when trammel came out just have no idea what UO is really about.  It's more than just the FFA PVP (which I will admit I miss it at times too).

Awesome.  Thanks a lot.

Now lets just hope that OB really starts 11:00AM here.   You know how these things go sometimes.

I already have the 1.05 patch....but now my client is downloading a 1.05.3 patch.  21.5 mbs

I really wish this game had a trial or something.  All of these stories are reminding me of my early UO days.

Absolutely loved those days.

Ultima Online, EVE Online.  Dare I say?  World of Warcraft.

I could not disagree with you more. This is just more destruction of what used to be a good game. I don't suppose it matters anymore really, it has already been tarnished beyond recognition.

AoS was a mistake yes. But with imbuing and making it possible to combine powerscrolls, they will even out the playingfield alot. Its not that hard to get the stuff for imbuing - and its really easy to get 105 and 110 scrolls.

The client still need some more work indeed. Thats why its in beta. But its allready alot better then what KR ever was.

Also they will announce some PvP content after UO:SA are released. Read stratics board  with Draconis answers AND the interview with the Dev. Cal here: gamesblog.ugo.com/games/ultima-online-12-years-down-12-years-to-go

Let me Quote from that interview:

UO was like the Wild West in its early days, everything seemed fairplay and you took your life in your hands when you left town; does that still exist in today's UO?
Calvin: That's something we're going to try to do in two pieces. We're going to have an announcement after this launch about another piece that will turn UO back into the Wild, Wild West that everyone wants.

LOL, and you actually believe them? HA, they will never be able to remake the game into the wild wild west it used to be unless they put in classic servers, which EA will NEVER do. Its just another ploy to get people to come back and play the shitty post AOS crap that killed UO and line their greedy inept pockets with more money.

What are they going to do? Put in more Seige servers? HA!

I highly doubt EA is lining their pockets with UO anymore.

UO is still one of the most immerse and in depth MMO out there, no one can argue with that.  Sure AoS was a hit in the groin to the players, but I almost welcome it these days.  I think there is more strategy to UO now rather than the old days.

What I do miss is the sense of feeling in danger though.  That is something I welcome back with arms wide open.

What EAMythic does with UO anymore is for the fans.  Not the money.  They want to keep the current player base happy and I think they are.  What I think they are trying to do now is to get some of the old folks back that have not played since the T2A days.  We'll see if this works.
