I want to like this game I really do but it just has too many issues.
Reviews & Impressions « Star Wars: The Old Republic 2/11/12 8:05:09 AM
Your real problem is stated in your early paragraphs. You are burned out on MMO. This blinds your eyes to the potetial the game has to improve itself.
I've played WoW, EVE, SWG, EQ, I play or played all of these because I like mmo's. You have to like the genere to be able to judge it correctly,. |

(/quote) I played Republic at first, then switched to Empire. Yes, there are tons more people playing. However, after seeing the type of people attracted to Empire I had to switch back to Republic. Now, this may just be due to so many more people playing Empire vs. Republic. Or a combination of the certain people who will be attracted to Empire(teenaged lonely hateful emos) and there are so many they are bound to bicker with each other nonstop. The sad thing is this is on a RP server. I wish a game dev would have the balls to enforce some modicum of common sense on RP servers. RP servers used to be a respite from the idiots, but its like the idiots found this out and have to flock there to ruin the atmosphere. And, yes, one is an idiot who rolls on an RP server, makes an idiotic name, and then goes to general chat to talk about everything except SWTOR.(/quote)
It's been my experience in MMOs that the "bad" side is most often played by mid agre people. Generally speaking, Younger people just can't picture themselves as "bad."

General: A Tribute to Gary Gygax 1938 - 2008

D&D changed my life--which is another way of saying that GG did. I was raised in an orphanage and was withdrawn from the world. After I got out I ran into some people at school playing D&D. I immediately went out and bought the original three books. I loved to adventure, but I loved being the DM more. I also grabbed Greyhawk when it came out. How I wish I had kept those original books, but I threw them away when the hard back books began to come out. I went on to a life time of public speaking and writing. I credit D&D with allowing me to do that. I remember when computers first became available to the public. I bought a TI 99 and programed it to roll the dice for me. It was invaluable to my work as a DM. I'm 51 now. I don't play the pen and pencil version of D&D any more. I disliked the D&D MMORPG when it came out. I guess I expected a repeat of the pen and paper version and it didn't live up to that. I'll miss you GG.

Last week Eve made an appearance at the Game Developer’s Conference in Presentations were made at the conference about Eve economics and about the Ambulation project. I heard many conference goers praise both, but I saw nothing new in the Ambulation presentation. It was essentially the same as the presentation at Fanfest. As usual the Eve party created the most sought after tickets from those present. As there was a limited number of tickets (a very small location was chosen for the party) everyone was asking for them. I even saw one 20 year old who was denied entrance to the party due to has age scalping his ticket at the entrance. The primary purpose of Eve at the conference was not to demo the game but to recruit for the secret project taking place in If you get a chance to go to next year’s GDC in |

LOTRO over 4 weeks old and still #1
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 6/01/07 7:04:32 AM
I'm disappointed with LOTR online. The graphics (other than character movement) are great, but I think they went the SOE way instead of the WOW way. SOE put so much emphasis on group play after the first few levels that one could not play without a group. WOW allows a character to level all the way up alone if he wishes to do so. I wish LOTR had followed the WOW model and because it did not I've already canceled my subscription. Some of us are just not fellowship people before we get to the end game.
