Also, level 10 and already complaining? have you even gotten the other 2 classes? Get at least to the first dungeon, fail at healing and then come complain.

When I got to the first dungeon I too struggled a lot, Then crafted a club and everything got better. Then I stopped playing =P.

I never failed at anything.  I didn't start this thread because I wasn't good at healing, I just felt like something was off.  Honestly I have played every big MMO out there, and I really want to like Archeage, but I just can't find myself wanting to log on.  I will keep pushing but the quest line is so boring that I can't even play for more than half an hour before I'm bored to tears.  I want to make it to the end game since I am a big pvp lover, but just don't know if I ever will.

It already sounds to me like are just following the quest train

Get off the train and pick something you want to be good at and go do it. ArcheAge is about setting goals. Approach it like you would real life. Set a goal to be good at something and just go do it. Otherwise you will hate it.

Stop questing and go do something that -you- want to do

This! Please elaborate.  What can I do outside of the quest track to level up and get armor?

People seriously continuously whining and crying about wait times on LAUNCH DAY??? Go out into the real world and have a real life for like two days, wait times will calm down and life goes on.  I avoid all MMOs on launch day, seems a lot of players new to MMOs should get some sense and do the same.

I'm someone who plays only healers and I have at least tried every big name MMO ever made since EQ1.

Overall I have to say as far as fun factor goes, Rift definitely wins for healing.  The Warden was probably the best healer I ever played.  Now this was before they changed up everything but the Warden could stay alive with up to 5 people on me at once while also keeping my partner alive.  The chloromancer was also amazing fun, as well as the bard.  Both were really fun in pvp seeing how directly your damage correlated with your healing.

My favorite probably though has to be the Midgard Healer from DAoC.  Healing and crowd control are my two favorite roles and that class combined them perfectly.  Healer was definitely the most fun I've had in pvp.

But as someone else already noted, nothing beats out the EQ1 cleric.  Talk about a class that literally couldn't solo a single mob, but could output healing that was out of this world.

I was expecting frustration and i got it.

Tries Amazon, nothing but ERROR so i gave up on Amazon.

I figure ok i'll try Square Enix, they actually don't even handle their own sales, some UK company does and that is sad.It is a total BS setup,it had me entering and submit the same information too many times.I was like OH NO you don't,next thing i have made several purchases of a game when i only want 1.So i said  no to that UK dealing as well.

I wish Steam would get this game up,no idea what is taking so long,it is 15 bucks now on Square  and Amazon so the price is there.Maybe they are working on it because Steam purchase usually yields some in game item/s,

If Square can't get their community and support working better they will continue to lose out on thousands of customers, the same issues FFXI had. BTW i also tried to buy a physical copy at Future shop, none left ,course tons of Wow discs. No wonder Wow has always had so many players even 5 years ago,at EBoutique the only PC game they carried was Wow,they removed all other PC games except that and a few Games for Windows CD's.

I don't know what kind of error you are having since you didn't specify, but I have bought dozens of games through Amazon and never had a single issue.  Also their web site is vast and you can always find answers to your questions on there.  If all else fails they have amazing customer service as well.  I have never had an issue with downloading games from them.

People really need to stop using the phrase WoW clone.  It's a standard of interface and play style concepts that were turned into gaming mechanics, and WoW was certainly not the first to use them.  If all MMOs use similar mechanics, it's because they make the most sense and we as gamers have enjoyed them the most.  That being said I normally don't enjoy heavily theme park MMOs, however, as a Final Fantasy fan I have really been enjoying this game.  Yes the combat is slower than a lot of contemporary MMOs out there, but I am actually enjoying that.  Coming from Rift as my last played MMO it's nice to slow down from the every ability being instant cast world.  The story is actually decent as many others have said I find myself actually reading the plot.  Also if you have played many FF games in the past, you will love the little aspects that bring a feeling of nostalgia in your heart such as sounds, spells, outfits, monsters, etc.  Overall I think it is a beautiful game that has really come together to form a very fun and playable MMO, if not completely original.  It certainly doesn't bring anything revolutionary to the table, but it does things slightly different in a way that will keep me playing after my free month is up.  I enjoy that they make you play classes from the ground up, and that you are allowed to have a character level up every single class if you want to.  I am also not a big crafter, but find the crafting in this game absolutely addicting.  Give it a try, it's worth it!
I'm on Faerie and it's busy at most hours of the day/night, though I don't have a clue towards actual numbers.

It is $11.99 now, lol. Think I will pick it up at that price. I almost did other day when it was 14.99

On Amazon it runs an automated system that lowers the price more and more if it's not selling, which is why it keeps dropping.

If the price works and it starts to sell it shoots back up again, since it keeps dropping I guess even the low price isn't encouraging anyone :(

To be honest in the MMO field low price doesn't really do much, almost every single MMO either has a free trial or is completely free to play, given that you are really only paying that amount for 30 days it's not exactly that good of a deal in reality.

As someone already said, this is completely made up and not true at all.  Please don't input if you're going to just make lies up with no facts to support them.  I know for a fact what you said here is not true.

Price has always been low fyi btw.

I didn't say that that was the main reason to pick it up.

It's a very entertaining game, and the low price ensures you won't pay 60$ for something that ends up being boring (like GW2 for me), and then in turn leads to guilt and disappointment.  If it wasn't for you, then you only spent 15$.

PS:  It's now today only 12.99$!  Pick it up, it's worth a shot.

Problem with the GW2 example though...

I payed $30 for GW2 and will never have to pay another penny for as long as I choose to play (outside of optional cash shop purchases or possible retail expansions - which I'm still not required to pay if I only wish to continue playing the game as it is now).

With FFXIV, even if I payed $10 for it, it still requires a subscription to continue playing. So, within a couple months, I'd have paid about as much as I would for GW2 anyway. A couple months after that I'd have paid more than that, and I'd have to continue paying even further if I wanted to keep my XIV sub active.

Now mind you, I prefer a subscription fee over a cash shop model any day of the week. I'm not a fan of cash shops at all. But when it comes to making comparisons between the cost of two games... GW2 is really not the best choice.

I paid 50$ for GW2 and only played it for a couple of days because I found it very boring.  I only paid 14$ for FF14 and have been playing it non-stop for a few days now and see myself continuing to play.  That to me is a better deal than GW2 even if I do end up continuing to play and paying the monthly sub.

still over priced free is the only price that justifies that old game.

If you're talking about FF14 it's actually completely redone and really well done in my opinion.  The population is really healthy everywhere I've been as well on Faerie server.

I've been taking a pretty lengthy break from mmorpg.com lately (severely jaded long time mmo player), and somehow missed the launch and beta of this game.  I happened to see it on Amazon.com for 14.99 and had read some good things so I thought I would pick it up.  Honestly I'm really glad I did.  I am really enjoying it so far.  It's definitely theme park but it's beautiful and the races are unique, and the whole thing has that Final Fantasy feel.

Anyway!  It's still 14.99 on Amazon so if you're looking for a fun game to kill some time at a good price, pick it up!  They also don't ask for credit card information for the free month trial as well....

I'm not sure which games give exp penalty for grouping specifically but I do believe most games are leaning towards discouraging grouping in certain ways, or at the very least making it too extremely easy to solo.  MMOs should be group centric where in order to survive people need to band together.  There should be better benefits to grouping definitely, but I believe people shouldn't really be able to survive all that long completely solo.

EQ1 without a doubt.  There will never be anything like it again.  So involved and such an amazing community with a challenge that really made you proud of what you did and more dedicated to your character.  Amazing and alive world.

DAoC would be second, still the best pvp I've ever experienced.

Exactly what date/time (central) is this big reveal and how do we tune in?

EQ1 was Erudite Cleric, such a rare class/race combo that had such a rich storyline and persona capability.

EQ2 would be Fae Cleric.

When it comes right down to it, it all depends on the behavior of the religious guilds.  The LGBT guilds are completely understandable.  People playing in a social video game where this a live and thriving community may want to experience the game with other people that they can be comfortable in knowing are just like them.  As a prosecuted minority they may feel uncomfortable if they have to experience coming out again if they join a guild and really start to get to know the members personally.

Religious guilds are a little bit more tricky.  While the same above point can be used for religious guilds, I would have to include one requirement that they aren't pushing their views on other gamers.  As someone mentioned earlier, if I were a parent I would certainly not want my child learning about religion from a video game.  To me religious guilds seem  a little more pointless considering there really isn't a need to group up together when mostly everyone playing a game will have one religion or the other.  Being able to have the option though should be up to the players, as long as nobody is pushing their religious views onto other people.

if he is against F2p then he is ignorant.

How much money I spent on DAoC?  5 years @ 15 a month = 900 bucks.

I spent about 1/3rd of that in 3 months of GW2, Tera.  I also subbed to Tera AFTER it went f2p because I wouldn't try it until it did.  Lots of people today are moving away from sub based games because NO developer has ever delivered on their full list of promises, yet we still get buggy content, shitty patches and bad balancing all while paying 15 a month.

I think the reality is, he doesn't like F2P because he is scared.  He is scared his game won't hold up to the hype of what DAoC used to be, it won't hold up and he won't make "any" money.  The reality is, people like to be micro-spent to death, I am guilty of this too.  Look at the xbox, ps3 BS that happened at launch.  People cried over how expensive the PS3 was because of its initial price tag, yet when the 360 was bought with all the same compenents it was 100 more... the difference?  PS3 users didn't get to pick and choose what they wanted on their plate, Xbox did.

How does that work in mmo's?  The same way.  If I am spending 15 bucks a month, I won't be spending money on anything else in the game because I feel like you are already getting money, in games like Guild Wars 2, where in reality you can't buy a "win" button I still spent money WEEKLY for other things.  It's sad because the subscription is exactly why I won't play Camelot Unchained.  I think the non sub model is better for players, better for developers (and yes, I worked at SCE for 10 years, Playstation Underground forum handle was Faetyl for anyone who doesn't believe me, I dealt with the online cheating systems and cheat devices with SCERT) so until developers stop trying to earn their paycheck by forcing payment of me monthly, I would rather reward them for allowing me to pick and choose when I want to spend my money.

If they make a game worth my time, ill invest a hundred every 3-4 months in f2p games.  Its sad that just like ToA he is going to miss the boat on the community, and the genre and end up being a game that loses face when it has to switch to f2p 3 months down the road.

While I think that F2P is a accepted business-model and with a big gaming audiance you can make a lot of money with it, I am glad that MJ decided to make a sub-based game.

This are the reasons:

- I played some F2P games. I tend to buy some stuff quite early in the game, even if I stop playinig after a short while. I always regret that I spend the money before. ( I had this feeling never in a subbased game )

- I don't want to have the feeling that the game tries to lure me into the cashshop.

- I want to know that no one in the game has any advantage because he/she is paying more than I.

- A monthly fee of 10 to 15 euro's is easy affordable, and I know that I have the full game experience.

- I assume (just my personal opinion) that f2p games bring gamehopper into the game, which contradicts the vision of a tight social community. However, to hold the players it needs more than a subscription fee. It needs more than in daoc-times, since the possible alternative mmos are vast nowadays.

Perfectly rational and understandable reasoning.  My exact feelings on f2p.

I absolutely loath the F2P model and more and more people are getting turned off by it!

ArenaNet is currently one of the few who has a decent and fair B2P model.

All the other games, including the latest DEFIANCE game, have turned into money grabbing crap games, where all loot is stuffed into lock boxes!

Lockboxes that can also be bought with in-game resources. Don't let facts get in the way of rage, though.

Is that not still money grabbing profit?  Seriously who wants to worry about BS like that.  It takes away from the game world and I would rather pay a cheap monthly sub rate than something considered 'free'.
