Give me Three good reasons WoW is better than any other MMORPG
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 9/25/06 2:22:00 PM
Most complete? I totally agree. No other MMO has the amount of polish that WoW has right now. It's the least buggy and the most user-friendly. Most well-rounded? Hardly. Grind grind grind, raid raid raid. In a game where everyone can 1-shot everyone else, "well-rounded" is not a word you hear often. Or ever, for that matter. |

Give me Three good reasons WoW is better than any other MMORPG

I don't think those are quite the words I would have chosen, but I appreciate it anyways.
I don't remember saying that. My goal in coming here was to support the OP in his efforts to point out how pathetic WoW is in general. I don't think laughing at the people who fail to put up a decent return arguement would be considered "trolling."
Did YOU read the thread?
Yes, we have priceless quotes above like "I can be a complete retard and still succeed" and some 8 year old talking about rotting in a hole, and you're convinced that it's my fault. Did it ever occur to you that perhaps we're on the same side, and you're just attacking me because I'm the only person who understands where you're coming from? I totally agree that WoW's community is garbage, but I can assure you that it is NOT because of people like me. I come here because I care. |

Give me Three good reasons WoW is better than any other MMORPG

Please stop talking.
Or, quite possibly, it's that 25% of the people who actually read the post play WoW, and the other 75% hate the game and come here to laugh at the idiots still playing it.
Since when are these positive points for a game? Most people like to, you know, actually PLAY the game. The intelligence shown in this thread is weak, at best. This is a perfect example of the WoW community... uninformed, stupid, unscrupulous, uncaring, and lacking any semblance of skill. |

Why do people think there's anything WORTH stealing from WoW?

This is what most players refer to as "rolling an alt." Twinking is generally when you roll a low-level character and give him the best gear for his level, for the sole purpose of kicking the crap out of the players who have just started. This tactic is usually adopted by people who A) are bored with the game and have nothing else to do, or B) can't stand up in PvP to people their own level.
I completely agree with this. It's a fact that a lot of people hate WoW, and many will not have anything to do with you if you say that you play(ed) WoW. However, it's definitely not for the usual "0mFG th1s gam3 suckz0rz!!1!" garbage that you see more and more often. The fact is that WoW is easy to level to 60, and then that's it. You've reached the end. At that point you really only have two options: 1) Join a raiding guild and go with 39 of your best friends (read: 4 of your best friends and 35 people you hate) to spend 9 hours a night getting spanked by some ridiculous instance. 2) PvP every waking moment in an attempt to reach rank 14, and get spanked by every clueless idiot who chose to do #1 instead. Personally I don't like either of these, as they are extremely time consuming and restrictive. To be anything close to what most people would consider "serious" about this game, you have to spend FAR too many hours a day playing, usually locked into some instance or other. I like to be able to log out whenever I choose, without pissing off half the server. To say that WoW didn't do ANYTHING original would be lying, though. The one feature of the game I was really impressed with was the ease at which players could write their own scripts and run them right into the game, without any complaints at all from Blizzard. Players were literally writing their own interface. I wrote a script at one point that would scan the auction house for Enchanting reagent prices, compile and average them, then log them all in my spellbook and organize the enchantments by type. People could then whisper me with a keyword or two and it would whisper back a list of the corresponding enchantments and a list of prices for them. It was one of the most innovative game systems I've ever seen, and if there's another game doing it then please tell me. In short, my point was that I hate WoW just as much as anyone else, and (generally) for the same reasons, but some of the things people say are just ridiculous. |
