There is a very simple and straightforward answer to the OP's question...
MMOs are dominated mostly by Chinese and Koreans, while other genres in Asia are dominated by the Japanese. Quite simply, the Japanese demand a higher quality product, just like everything else in life.
Of course, these are broad generalizations and there will be exceptions. |

Nice try, first-posters. Just another yawn-ariffic Korean grinder, focused totally on anime-style combat. No WASD controls, and I'm forced to use arrows instead? No thanks. |

If there's something specific you want to do, then go do it. It's probably in the game somewhere, and the game itself is not in a hurry to give you a tour. Also, the largest part of the game is simply having options. It would be impossible to list to you here the number of options I have to sift through every day, and still give you an accurate idea of the scope of the game.
The crafting is a bit different, in several ways. Yes, when mining, you can be attacked. In fact, you could be attacked, quite literally, anywhere while doing anything, except in a station, of course. However, this depends largely on where you are and the group you're flying with (assuming you have a group). Being alone in high-security space is not terribly dangerous, but being alone in low-security or even no-security is pretty much suicide.
Also, warping away (running from a fight) can be extremely difficult, but again it depends largely on what you and your opponents have equipped. There are weapons that can stop you from moving and/or warping, but there are also countermeasures to defend against this. It's all a matter of knowing what you're up against and preparing for it. |

I couldn't tell you how many times I died to Locks who I managed to kill long before they could get me even to half health. There's nothing as frustrating in the world as killing someone and then watching them get the last laugh as your health ticks away at 500 damage a second. |

I think this system will work, as there are still a few games that use this system today. Runescape's player moderators are numerous, and while they don't always get it right, they do their best and they have real GMs to read the reports and check for errors. These volunteers are also unable to actually take action against an account, and are instead reduced to muting (although in this case, 24 hours) until the account is dealt with properly. As was mentioned before, at worst a few players are muted temporarily. At best, SOE has killed two birds with one stone. |

Agreed, and what were you doing (read: "suffering through") for the last 5 months when you weren't "addicted?" |

As if copying the EQ-style grindfest games wasn't enough, now companies feel the need to copy PR tactics as well. I'm about sick of reading "such-and-such has delayed the release of their game because they feel it needs more polish." We all know that 90% of these games come out looking like crap anyways, no matter how much these guys "polish." If you had to DELAY your game to add more polish, you've already failed. These things need to be taken into consideration long before you have actually made the game. These companies need to stop doing things just because "everyone else is doing it." |

I never played the free trial, but I am guessing it's not part of the full game. Thus, similar to the way the actual game works, you are free to play as much as you like, until you decide you want to move further, at which point you must purchase the full game. |

However, I have to say that if you haven't made it to max level yet, you probably never will. Also, as some of the previous posters have said, it's all about playing with friends. This game is certainly nothing special on its own... if you aren't playing with friends you will not likely get much further than you have in the past. |

As far as I know, there has never been a compilation box for Guild Wars. You have to buy each box separately. The good news is, you don't need all the boxes. Just buy whatever box is the most recent and you'll be fine. |
