At the present time, I am unable to pay cash for items in Star Trek Online. However, with the Dilithium Exchange you are able to refine up to 8000 per day then use those to exchange for C Store Points. :) |

Skip this game... Go to Star Trek Online... It's free and a very well done game. Black Prophecy couldn't even get the JOYSTICK configuration done correctly... Sadly they expect you to BUY a NEW joystick if you are to play their game. GOOD Joystick Configuration has been available for a long time... All they would have to do is look at OPEN Sourced games like Descent 1, Descent 2, and Freespace 2 for a very well done Joystick Configuration that would allow very fine joystick controls and excellent configuration for custom settings. |

On 4th or 5th buddy key now... I like the overall game play. Made it to Vice Admiral (lvl 51) in way less than 30 days without much effort but to play it a lot. Still have something like 65 missions that have not yet been started, partially done, etc. Having a lot of fun just enjoying the space battles, etc. Wheeeeeee! :) |

Played using a Buddy Key which let me see some of the great content. Yes, there are some buggy quests that you cannot finish. But didn't find very many. STO is a fun game. Made it to Level 21 (Commander 1) during the time that I was able to play it. Hopefully we won't have to wait long before the Free to Play mode is ready. :) |

Star Trek Online: F2P Interview with Dan Stahl
News Discussion « General Discussion 9/23/11 10:46:19 PM
Game has issues like most games but at least Star Trek Online (STO) is playable for me.
Tried Eve's but the very poor interface made it unplayable for me. I expected a REAL space battle NOT some simulated one! |

Ryzom... STILL trash after all these years. Surprised that this horrible game has survived this long. Ryzom... Not worth a second look or even a first look! >:( |

Grummelig, Thank you. I will look into that. Thankfully they cleared up the mess by saying "coming soon". :D |

Why do they do the "BAIT and Switch" CRAP? They seemed to indicate that this was going Free To Play immediately... So I wasted my time downloading and installing it. Then today they say "sometime this year"... What in the heck? GIVE me a freaking date PLEASE! >:( P. S. I just want to see what the game looks like... I can't pay to play at this time! |

Interesting that they talk a LOT about "Free to Play" but ABSOLUTELY nothing on "Free to Play Activation Keys". Anyone know where to get a "F2P" Activation Key? >:( |

Sadly the current Level 50 Cap is not helping as my character has maxed at level 50... doing the SAME quests over and over and over at the last available map... BORING. Ready for the Level Cap to get raised very very soon. Hopefully they will allow the Open Beta Character to stay... they wiped our characters after the Closed Beta was over. I do like being able to switch character classes. One thing that would make this game even better: allow us to configure weapons for the light, medium, and heavy classes so when we switch between character classes we are not using the ONE character from the previously used class. Overall this is a decent game... there are some shortcomings but overall this is MUCH better than most beta test games. :D |

Was a decent Demo but some of the SOLO quests are too tough to complete alone. Game deleted due to this extremely ridiculous trash. Yet another promising game from G-Tater that turns to a pile of trash! DOH! :( |

Black Prophecy... Not ready for Joystick Controls it seems...
General Discussion « Black Prophecy 7/14/11 1:06:29 AM
If the JOYSTICK controls are NOT properly built into the configuration, why bother with external programs like JoyMouse, etc? You absolutely DO NOT get as good a set of controls as you would if the Joystick Code was properly coded in the software. This 54 year old software developer has written software for nearly 34 years.... With DirectX it doesn't take ONE afternoon to add in Joystick Controls... so missing this OBVIOUS need for a good joystick configuration is a very poor excuse. There are plenty of good code samples to properly add in Joystick controls. If they want GOOD Joystick Configuration code as well as how to do let the program properly use the Joystick simply look at the Source Code for Freespace 2 Source, Descent 1, and Descent 2 which were released several years ago! >:(

Black Prophecy... Not ready for Joystick Controls it seems...
General Discussion « Black Prophecy 4/04/11 3:45:42 AM
I tried to configure settings to use my old tried and true Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro 2. When you go into the configuration during the demo mode, the demo continues on... EXTREMELY ANNOYING. If you move the mouse to change some setting in the configuration, your ship starts to spin in the direction that you moved the mouse. I wish it would pause to let you pause the game to focus on setting up your preferences. DOH! The developers seem to think that everyone will use Mouse and Keyboard settings... that may be the majority of people... but for me I HAVE to have Joystick and Keyboard Controls to play a Space Simulation without ANY mouse gestures. They seem to stick you with mouse and keyboard controls if all you want is Keyboard and Joystick controls you are screwed unless you go through a lot of settings changes. DOH! Freespace 2 did an excellent job of letting someone configure the game for their game playing style... Keyboard ONLY, Mouse and Keyboard, or Keyboard and Joystick. To top it off the USA Server is extremely laggy. Too many issues for me to consider playing this game until they address a long list of annoying issues. Oh the graphics are extremely nice... but that doesn't make up for horrible game interface for me. I wish them well on this game... IF they fix a long list of annoyances... then perhaps it would be playable for me. Had such high hopes for this game... Perhaps they can salvage this game experience for me. >:( |

Free To Play... No Thanks... Horrible Interface!
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 9/14/10 8:43:27 PM
No wonder Lord of the Rings Online went to Free to Play so fast. The game interface is horrible... yet playable... barely! WASD keys to move your character... we had WASD games back in the 1980's...Come on Turbine, surely you could FIX this interface to use mouse clicks like MOST real MMORPG's! The game interface is 25 to 30 years old... time for an upgrade! Played the game less than 2 days. Nice Graphics, horrible game play. Game Deleted! >:( |

Question for Non-EVE players and players that tried EVE but didn't stay.
Jita (General) « EVE Online 8/12/10 12:05:36 AM
Tried EVE but it didn't last because: 1. Wasn't fun for me.
2. A TRUE space sim allows the usage of Joystick for Space Battles. If I wanted to play a mouse MMO game there are plenty of those which are available from this web site. I have played many Space Sims... EVE is not a TRUE space simulation... nice game but not for me. Freelancer was a good game but it too didn't have joystick controls. My mouse skills are decent for my age (53) but I just cannot mouse turn a ship around as fast as I can with a joystick. Freelancer would have been purchased IF the dern interface would have worked for me. Basically I didn't have the fine turning agility that I could have had have with a joystick. Perhaps if the Space Battles allowed Joystick Controls then maybe EVE would have been played more than 2 hours. To make a DirectX Space Sim style game without joystick controls is frankly unexcuseable since there are plenty of Joystick Control examples for DirectX. --- I spent more time signing up and downloading EVE than playing it. The game was deleted in less than 2 hours after installing it. EVE is pretty... but the whole interface and fun factor just didn't work out for me. --- My full time job is Systems Analyst / Senior Software Engineer / Computer Programmer for over 32 years... so I get a lot of mousing in while designing software. >:( |
