Why they even bother doing that, everything is soloable, they have removed group requirements from teh game except instances and thats got group finder anyways. Unless blizard are goign to be placing group required quests back into the game there is absolutly no need to do this. |

EA Blames Casuals For Declining Subs
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 5/09/12 10:47:32 AM
Have bought this game, did wait for the price to come down though (£22 on amazon) when i got it, think its now at around £18. However i have not installed the game yet as i still have a couple of months paid subscription time on another game. Reports cycling through now and seeing this is making me start to wonder if purchasing the game was actually a good move, will give it a go though (after all i have bought the thing). Would like to see an online game finally come out thats actually decent. |

The Elder Scrolls Online: What the Elder Scrolls Online Means for MMORPGs
News Discussion « General Discussion 5/04/12 4:41:49 AM
Big name, big title and probably will be a big dissapointment too. Untill its actually been made and then released i am not going to get hyped up about anything anymore because simply put they have all tended to be extreamly dissapointing release's |

Both me and a friend had bought this a while back when it had a monthly subscription. Anyways, we both stopped playing and yesterday my m8 re-installed Aion to go back and check it, apparently they must have completly pulled out of Europe as he had a message saying he had to redownload the entire full client from some place and play on a US server. Does this mean the EU version of the game (DVD's) are now obsolete and pointless to have? or has he done something wrong? oh and yes it was still tagged as europe version but pointing to US website and servers and when he tried goign to Aion's official sight it did not mention anything about this fact. I just said to him un-install it, trash the DVD's and say EU players got screwed over yet again. (but me, i dont care, the game sucked to me anyways, but to him he liked it). |

Well, i heard about this game and some of its features. It brought a bit of interest to me, however when i read on the 1st post that it was a F2P game with item shop it completly turned me off. Have not bothered much about the game since. So does F2P games turn many off yes, does it interest others, have to say yes, untill it starts hitting at you MUST use the item store and purchase alot of goods from there on a regular basis to be able to play the game to its full offerings. This then would cost alot more than a staright monthly fee does. Needless to say i am still interested in the game but right now i aint reading up about it. |

the next big game to be a failure..?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/02/12 9:32:20 PM
Aye, dont forget the older games like vanguard saga of heroes which was ment to also have been a killer, but failed. Every game that has released since WoW has been majorly dissapointing, some have lived a little longer than others, some have gone into the F2P (to survive that little bit longer), i wont touch them in that mode. Have seen how much it can cost on friends. As well as poor community attitudes it brings. WoW is also starting to die off these days as it is blatently obvious that alot of players are leaving the game. SW-ToR is havign alot go and try it, most are tending to stay whilst a handful return back to play WoW (only because its out of habit and they have probably invested alot of time nurturing there character/s). I myself will go and try SW-ToR once it comes down in price by like 45-50% from £45 to £22-25 and then i may take a dabble at it, i have played about 40-60 mins on a friends PC on it. If i did i would be going to a certain server and join the guild i was in that has moved to there from WoW, yes nearly an entire guild, blizard lost most due to very poor server population and all they say is they know about the problem and are working on it, for the past 3 yrs i am sure they could have come up with some sort of solution to the growing problem by now, its more of a fob off excuse. It will cost blizzard in teh long run. I have heard that SW-ToR doesnt have that much end game content, so why, if thats the problem are companies releasing games that hardcore players can hit max level in under a month of play and the average player in just over a month. Old games used to take hardcore players 6mths and the average player 8-9mths to hit max level which then gave them time to implement content. Seems alot are basing their gameplay on old but successful games with little thought in the long run. |

What should you be thinking about when you see the words "Free to play" - An mmo player for 10+ year's opinion on the F2P model
General Discussion « Aion 2/28/12 1:29:18 AM
Just got an e-mail (though very badly worded with spelling mistakes), saying that Aion is now goign free2play (as of yesterday), aye i got an e-mail asking me to authorize my account to be moved. I havent played it in a while nor likely too in the near future either. Now your question, What do i see when i read (game name) is going/has gone Free 2 play = another failed game or old game that has lost most of the playerbase so they have gone into this mode to tap the current leftovers and try to fool new players into thinking free2play (and hit them with small but frequent item shop transactions that = twice as much as the monthly sub used to be. F2P games = failures or dying/old games. All games must die eventually, but by god there needs to be somethign out there to replace them, not more or less rip offs of successful games that are feeling old. Anyways thats my thoughts on what i read when i see free2play come up on games, when they should just turn them off and shut them down instead. |

The game was not that good, just another game to go into F2P model = just another failure. Sure they will get a few people paying alot on their item shop because they dont know what else to do. I bet if they added up all their expenditure they will discover they have spent more on the game than one that has a monthly subscription. But hey, thats their choice, they may like the game. Many however did not. Thx but i will still pass. |

Final Fantasy XIV: Subscription Billing Resumes January 6th
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/11/12 11:16:02 PM
Didnt know, heard the game was utter pants so never bothered with it. If i had known it was currently in a free play state i may have tried it out, but i did not. have to go from what most people have said about the game and to avoid it, silly them, should have let it be known. |

Went to it, was extreamly dissapointed in it, left it. Not been back since (like several other big dissapointing games). So in the past 5yrs there have been 2 games in my opinion that were worth playing (however both have dropped down alot and 1 has dropped into obscruity when it went f2p which was lotro. The other is #1 still (unfortunatly), and has a 4th expansion comming out which is not really dinging my ding a ling at all, in fact warning bells are going off instead. |

Aye, got an e-mail from trion too about this.
Murlockdance No your credit card info is not deleted once you stopped playing and had to be there to be able to play. I see now however that there is now an option to delete that info from being held (which i have done). |

SWTOR an incredibly well made game
Reviews & Impressions « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/24/11 9:45:02 PM
I'll wait for the price to drop before i try this one out, i am not prepared to fork out £40 (and thats on amazon) to see if the game is worth it or not, not after all the utter tripe thats been comming out these few yrs (and those have only cost £20-25 :( |

I think Blizzard just handed it to StarWars TOR on a plate .
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 12/21/11 7:15:19 PM
Originally posted by OkhamsRazor You could be right, Blizzard dont seem to be giving a flying hoot about low populated servers. Now the guild i was in have all moved to SWtor with only a handful not doing so. Alot of the very few alliance players on the server have gone to see what its like for the next 2-3 months. Only then will that game say if its worth staying or not. I am now wondering if they will be returning, if they do then how many, if most come back then the game sucked and i did the right thing, if hardly any come back then the game is a success and will undoubtedly start to pull more players over to it (myself could be one of them). However i am not about to fork out £40 from amazon to find out if its just like the rest and really sucky. I will wait for 3-6mths before knowing (yes this would put me at a somewhat dissadvantage to the straight away starters, but thats the way thinsg go when one did not get to look at it beforehand.

Poll: How do you like SWTOR:
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/26/11 4:23:09 AM
Aint gonna get this untill i at least get to play the game in a trial mode or beta phase. Way too many games have i purchased to only be junked into a box to gather dust becuase they turned out to be utter shite. So now i will only buy online subscription games if one gets into a test phase or some sort of free play stage at release. If there is not one of those then i for one will not be purchasing, especially when its 55% comming back as a dissapointment, 30% like the game and the rest are just undecided from comments i have come up with over several sights thusfar. |

World of Warcraft: Seventh Anniversary Alert
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/20/11 10:06:19 AM
The package includes a Feat of Strength and when the package is 'opened', it shoots off fireworks, grants players a temporary (and celebratory) tabard and a +7% XP and reputation gain for a limited time. Hmmm, i got a feat of strength for logging in for the 7th anniversary on that character. In the mail was a token that awarded 7% xp and reputation gains for 1 hour (completely pointless as i have 7 characters all of which are at max level and most repyutations are at exalted status baring raid ones which are virtually impossible to do as nobody tends to do old raids, especially on a server that is extreamly lacking in your faction). There was no tabard among this anywhere. |

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes: Dungeon Coming with New Patch
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/19/11 11:05:36 PM
Not played becuase of 2 reasons, horid start is not the word i would use several stronger words than that. When it was patched it fixed 1 thing and broke several others, then if it was a questline that same questline would be bugged only 2 or 3 quests further in. Then there was lack of support, interest in the players started to dwindle. To me it felt like SoE was fully pulling the strings, only 3 months after i left they aquired the game (as if they didnt already have full control anyways), say what you want but thats my opinion and i will stick with that. Have been back 1 time (2nd anniversary) that gave a 14 days free play, no community (or nobody replied), raid comming through buildings (much like the old TV channels when they go off air) with teh black and grey dot things all over the screen. Not even taking cover in a cave stopped it. Saw 2 players and 1 other in chat (and s/he was being an ass at that). The cards you got were all doubling up (duplicating) to 2 or some even had 3 identicle (heqard that was still apparent too as well as a few other bugs. SoE has not worked on the game in years, are they trying to revive it or keep what little playerbase they have left in the game before new ones come out. Who knows but if they had taken teh game offline to fix it when they aquired it, it may have gone alot better. Doubt i will even touch it, especially after they had been hacked (and yes i had 2 or 3 diff accounts) of which i did redo 2 of them with teh passwords, that in itself says their security sucks. |

just started playing Vindictus myself, its a pure console style game where you just jump in and smack mobs in an instance like a console game. Probably become boring very quickly, doesnt require anything, 3 or 4 mouse press's should kill all mobs in your area of attack, it auto targets so all you have to do is run and press teh mouse button and thats it.
