I played it quite a bit this weekend and didn't have any crashing. Some rubberbanding, but that's it. Fun game, but I won't go out and buy it. Characters don't feel very super heroish and some of the power sets flat out suck.

After being burned by AoC and Warhammer, I won't buy an MMO right off the bat. The sooner they release a free trial, the better. I've been hoping Champions would release a taster early. Downloading as we speak :)

What amuses me most about the DF screenshot is what's displayed in the chat windows.   First, the player name what is something like aIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIII  where some of those are L's, capitcal i's etc so that you can never report that person or send them tells--I thought they were banning these asshats?  And second is how the damage numbers are displayed: You were damaged by Merc Fanat and lost 1.1000003 health.  What the hell?

I remember fighting a group of folks in Shadowbane all having variations of IlIIIlll.....yeah, look at that. You couldn't call a primary target and they would all stack on top of each other so you couldn't really pick out the race/class either. It was the cheesiest tactic I've ever encountered in a video game. Good thing was, they still died

Good to see the 'hardcore PvP' asshats are alive and kicking in Darkfall.

Was never interested.

It was going to be a PvE-only game. After the horrible job Mythic did with PvE in DAoC, I had absolutely no interest in a PvE-only game made by them.

The best thing about DAoC was the PvP. They were going to make a game focusing solely on the one area they were terrible at?

Look at WAR's PvE. Bad. Granted, the entire game is bad. But, they couldn't even get the PvE right.

Mythic lost my respect with ToA.....get in line pal.

DAoC PvP was a blast. DAoC PvE was terrible.

Reliance on buffbots was terrible.

Reliance on tank/healer/dps/ENDURANCE REGEN  to get anything done was terrible.

Inability to solo when you wanted was terrible. No groups for your bard to join? Log out. You ain't soloing shit.

Every boss is tank n spank PvE was terrible. You NEED a PvE base, even in a PvP game. Sorry. Sheep for the wolves and all that.

Remember sitting in the dragon zone ALL  DAY farming the mobs in a raid to level? Grinding at it's worst.

Buffbots. I say it twice because it was doubly terrible to have to rely on them to compete.

DAoC had some great moments....all in PvP.

It would need a serious makeover that Mythic isn't capable of doing. See the failure that was WAR  for proof.

Was the city empty? There were hardly any defenders in the video. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be impressed here.

I like playing the healer, especially in PvP. With the skill based system, is healing viable in Darkfall? Looks like everyone is just DPS and maybe heal yourself after the fight?

Too late. My faint interest in this game has expired.

Just pre-ordered the standard game at Best Buy today. Rhino mount is really all I wanted. CE didn't impress me. The cape, the ring and the map aren't worth another 40 bucks.

edit: Boost, yes the Rhino is the pre-order item from Best Buy, it's on the back of the box.

No way this game launches as bad as Vanguard. I'm banking on some bugs and some crapiness, this is the same company that released AO   I keed, I keed.

Vanguard was a failure cascade.  The multiple testimonials on this board alone convince me that the game is ready for release. Sure, some high end content may be absent, fine by me. I could care less if the power grinders hit level cap and sit around bored.

Brandywine and Landroval are the most populous severs, I believe. Landroval is the unofficial RP server.

Someday, I'll log onto this forum and find out that Darkfall has actually released. That someday is a long, long ways off.

As a Warhammer tabletop gamer, I have to say, that didn't look so hot.

It REALLY looked like WoW. We all know WoW is a ripoff of Warhammer, but Mythic has gone out of their way to make Warhammer look like WoW. Some of the idle animations are WoW-ish, the low poly characters and weapons.....geesh.

I've defended this game time and again, but that video took some of the wind out of my sails.

Couldn't agree more. Unfortunately, this one of the things that many MMO's will carry over from WoW. It's good for casual PvP, it's clean, safe and sterile. It's horrible for folks who loved DAoC and Shadowbane PvP styles. Oh well, have to take the good with the bad.

I tried the game in open beta and it failed to grab me as well. I downloaded the trial this weekend and I'm enjoying it. Maybe I expected too much from it initially. Overall, I'm having a good time. The FedEx quests are beyond bad. At one point in the Man starting area, I completely gave up reading the quests. I was being bounced around the hobbits like a pinball with all of the run around do nothing quests.

Play it for no other reason than to say Man Minstrel. Man Burglar is good too

I'm not complaining about the size of the download. I had Vanguard installed at one time. I know how big it is. The bandwidth allocated by SOE to download files from them is pathetic.

sykotics, I don't know if you're trolling to be cool or if your reading comprehension is non-existent.  I downloaded the 4.5 gig LOTRO trial in 1.5 hours, averaging 945 kb/s. Vanguard took over 24 hours and I was getting 41 kb/s. My computer doesn't suck, by any means. SOE still has many, many problems to iron out. Also, downloading 18 gigs in, you said what, 2.5 hours? Yeah, ok kid.
