First, As a fellow network admin/web admin, ok, I get it. You are trying to make sure there isn't a spam bot flooding the site with unwanted adds etc. But wth. I blew my screen up from 1600 x 900 to 800 x 600 and I still could not decipher the gif encoded letters in your grafitti art password protection program. Can we clean that up some? |

Sony asks gamers to sign new terms or face PSN ban

Originally posted by Crazylike Besides the obvious point, which someone else pointed out about CC numbers being transmitted in the clear, you have no issues with someone stealing your identity and racking up hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt, which you are responsible for? This is the major issue i have with the way Lulz Security does business. There are people out there who go out of thier way to find out personal info so they can assume an identity and ruin peoples lives, while the criminal reaps the rewards. Lulz just hands the info out so these people don't have to go out of their way to find the info. That's criminal. Yes, there is no such thing as a system that is on the internet but impossible to breach, but Sony apparently had light security measures in place, where ultra secure was required. |

Originally posted by generals3 While I do agree that Sony is a victim here, they make more than enough money to employ people who could adequately secure their network. Yes you volunteered your information so that they could provide a network identity for you, however, they have have a responsibility to protect that online identity. This isn't the first major firm to be hacked nor will it be the last until they come up with a way to keep your personal information seperate from the identity that the rest of the world see's on their network. BTW, in the article, the group that claims responsibility is Lulz Security.
Concerning Lulz Security, while I applaud their ability to find and crack sites that have security issues, their method of exposing is criminal. In the U.S. they would be charged with the crime of hacking the systems and breach of the computer privacy act of 1987. Yes, we need to know about these things but have a care when you are posting information publically concerning peoples online identity. There are much better ways to handle it. |

Sony asks gamers to sign new terms or face PSN ban

Originally posted by Phry Marketshare based rankings goes Microsoft, Sony, and way way back Nintendo, but this is because, as I was stating, Sony is more than an online entity. They are multimarket while nintendo is gaming platform only. The only way you can get off of one of their gaming platforms is to download or purchase an emulator and play it on a PC. BTW, based on marketshare, Microsoft is number 1, Sony is number 2, nintendo doesn't even make it into the top 10. The only reason Nintendo continues to be compared to the other two is because their company has been around since the 1889 and therefore has a gross value that absolutely eclipses the other two who have only been around for a relatively short period of time. (Sony since 1955 and Microsoft since 1975) |

Originally posted by Phry Errmmm, what rock did you crawl out from under. Sony is the biggest Game Platform on the market. Their competitors are Nintendo, Microsoft Xbox, and a very very small percentage in the PC industry. They are multimarket as well, not only selling gaming platforms but electronics(e.g. Sony portable music devices, Sony mobile telephones, Sony T.V.'s, Sony Computers, etc.), and they have their own motion picture/music production department. Almost everything that has to do with entertainment, they have their hands into. |

What kind of backwards deal is this?
Moushiwake arimasen deshita. We leaked your personal info because our security wasn't up to par on our network. Oh, and btw, if you don't sign this you'll be banned. Yeah, that's the way to handle people who pay your check, NOT!.
BTW purchase does not guarantee full use. They can not deny you use of the product, unless of course, your product is an online only content contract. In the case of online only content, most countries and companies have rules and laws concerning early termination and buyers remorse. But, back to the denying rights of use, if the content is solo + online, they can deny you use of the network if you refuse to accept the EULA. International law stipulates that while the consumer has the right to purchase and use products, companies also have the right to do business with whomever they please. There are ramifications to this, such as discrimination charges, etc., but a company can chose not to do business with whomever they like, regardless of whether it's racially, politically, or ethnically discriminating. |

Shadowsbane will forever be a tarnished name due to the developer company and their mishandling of the game. It tried to make a come back once and failed miserably. It's date material now, with a bad rep, so the likelyhood of it ever becoming a popular mmo again is very slim. Perhaps if they change the name and retool the graphics so it looks totally different they might be able to publish it and have it go somewhere. |
|
|
The problem, imo, is that everything looks like a crappier version of this game or that game. What happened to the devs that created new content and new looks and feels? It's a slide downhill with a steadily increasing angle of descent, from what I am seeing. First mmo I played was EQ. To this day, I still love the bard class jack of all trades status but I have yet to find another game with a character that has the skill set to be able to fit into just about any group and perform a needed role while not being limited to just one role. 2 years play time. After EQ was DAoC. IMO they have/had the right ideas about pvp/pve game control. With the exception of a few bugs, which were fixed, you were not forced to deal with the chronic player greifers while you were grinding. When you were ready to go out into the world of pvp, you got to chose to do so. They started falling apart with the escalating add on abilities and chronic nerfing of classes that needed the damage output they had enjoyed to play the class as it was intended, e.g. assassin class types. There was one fundamental flaw in their game which pushed me away from it. Apparently, the lead designer or owner was a caster freak and had the CC set up in such a way that high damage wizardy types were pretty much running everything else on the game over. They never corrected this which is why I left. 1.5 years play time. Went to L2 from there which was a step into the surreal. Having experienced the grindfest in EQ, I thought I could cope, but the amount of grinding and harvesting etc, to make a relatively low level item was insane. Add to that you have to deal with every player greifer in the game, whether you wanted to or not. 9 months play time
From there I shuffled from WoW look-a-like game to L2 look-a-like game for a while, until DnD online came out and enjoyed a 8 month tenure with them. However, once you have done all the missions, there is really nothing left to do but hang out in the arenas and that get's old quick. Shuffle to more WoW look-a-like and L2 Look-a-like games. Start getting into the more recent games and frankly, I am amazed they put this crap out attitude starts in. |

Said like a true player griefer. Is that all you want to do is run around and jump people multiple ships on 1 or 2? I would be willing to bet that unless you are part of the top corp, there are people you don't mess with, and even being the top corp, there are people you don't mess with.
I hope they aren't entertaining the idea of giving the smaller ships back their unlimited speed capabilities, and thereby making them unkillable. Larger ship player: " Got you now, you have webifiers and jump blockers on you" Smaller ship player: "And? I am still going 45000 kmh with your webifiers on me so you can't touch me" |

League of Legends: League of Legends is Massive
News Discussion « General Discussion 7/05/11 1:19:24 AM
It's not an RTS. It's a Warcraft III style pvp arena game except you only control one character/champion. Teams are 5 v 5 or 3 v 3, depending on the map you queue into. While it's heavily based on a RTS game, Warcraft III, you don't control groups of units, as you would in an RTS. |

You do realize that what LoL and HoN and all the other games following in the DoTA line are where esports games came from right? I think Starcraft started it all, which was based off the Warcraft engine. |

League of Legends: League of Legends is Massive
News Discussion « General Discussion 6/29/11 7:21:41 AM
They only have 2 maps, which is rather poor considering how long the game has been out. 1 5 v 5 map and 1 3 v 3 map. Playstyles on the two different maps are different for most champions as the 3 v 3 is a much smaller map which makes for a faster pace. There are still some tweaks that need to be made. Some champions are definately overpowered and the fact that every ranged champion released since the original core of champions has a sole cause of out-ranging the three primary ranged champs (Ashe, Sivir, Teemo) seems very suspect as to who is pulling the strings over there. There are a couple of other games released in this genre since LoL. Heroes of Newerth and Lands of Chaos Online are two that come to mind. Heroes of Newerth allows champions to plow through the landscape with axes or certain skills making the maps not so redundant. Each game is a little different since the player can create new paths through the terrain. LOCO looks really nice, it plays more like a TPS MMO but they have gotten out of hand with their micropay systems. You have to pay out money to fully unlock a champion's skills. They also allow for pretty much perma invulnerability in the form of invulnerability potions, which can also be combined with other items to create items with invulnerability triggers on them. LOCO's targetting systems is screwy too making support champions a pain in the arse to play. |

Notice, I mentioned long periods of time twice, that because that is how long it will take for CS to get to you on any problem.
I loved CoH/CoV, made by Cryptic. STO was rather a let down but had nice visual effects. Some small balancing would have made the game much more nice. Never really got into CoX, whatever that was. Champions Online? |

I have to agree with the original poster. You get your choice. Bald human, bald pointy ear, bald green thing, as a race. The UI has editors but there are no options loaded. Beta? Don't make me laugh. I've seen alpha's that were more complete than this. |
