"lol, this is such a myth. No big company has ever had great customer service. Its a matter of perspective, you get a good customer service exp its great! you get a bad one its horrilbe and everyone is getting screwed."

I played the WOW trial, encountered a bug and made a ticket in game.

A GM contacted me after 15 minutes in game as a game character and helped me out. While staying in role (roleplay speak) and being very polite. I'm still baffled by this. I was playing the fricking TRIAL

I have not played the other games the OP mentioned but to me GW2 plays like an action game like Devil may cry.

When I play melee I don't even use the targeting system but manually swing my sword at  the enemy, which involves aim.

And if I want to do a special move the targetign system is in place to make sure I hit the enemy.

I love it, it's a very nice hybrid which makes use of both systems. And yu can tweak it fairly well in options even.

Then again I'm used to static fighting in mmorpg's when you could stand still and just press 1,4,3,7,etc.

I have no idea what the op is on about. I never lose my target unless I set another one.

I think the combat is extremely well down (almost Devil may cry style) and am having a blast fighting my way through the world. I even started  paying attention to the dailies.

I do agree with you having all weapon skills in the beginning with NO unlocks what so ever is stupid. I already want new weapons and new skills and I just started...

NO. I stopped crafting and sold the items instead. I never made so much money then before. Within 5 minutes I had tripled my silver amount.

I tried to keep up my craftt level with my character level. HA. Not only did I loose a shitload of money by not selling the materials but also had  to buy extra material. It was bleeding me dry FAST. Plus the dropped weapons (Huntsman) I already had were mostly just as good or better then what I could craft for my level anyway. (huntsman goes in steps of 5, so 5/10/15/20 but dropped weapons can have any level. So your better of buying dropped weapons for your precise character level anyway)

I do not see the point in crafting (at least not now with the prices).

You can buy any weapon for cheap so why craft at all? Not for the xp I hope,  that would be silly.

And if you ever want some kind of custom weapon why not order one from a crafter. Expensive but with all the money you saved by not crafting not a problem I'd reckon.

Besides, crafting SUCKS with the discovery system.

I bought some gems to turn into gold to pay for leveling crafting.

Then I noticed leveling is done with discovery.. Which means I have to keep a list with what I need to craft, which components I already have, etc. etc. Plus a whole lot of running between the market and crafting station. AND a LOT of inventory/bank juggling.

So I said fuck that and sold some of my more expensive stuff which was left after leveling Huntsman to 75.

I started with 14 silver because I spend 10 silver on crafting items.  After 5 minutes I made 71 silver!!!

Most I ever had was 30 Silver. I know what I'm NOT going to do, and that's crafting!

If I ever want something custom I will ask other crafters to take custom order, great way to meet new people to.

Edit.

Just made another 23 silver..

I'm level 24 by the way..

So here is a hot tip if you want money.

DON'T CRAFT. Sell your looted and farmed stuff on the TP.

I managed to get to from level 15 to 24 on only one 15-25 area. Kessex hills. And I didn't even do all the hearts yet and certainly not all events. I did craft to level 50 though. No story quests, no pvp.

I think it is certainly possible to only do 1 level appopriate zone per character but just make sure you do other things to get xp.

Stop exploring for a while and catch up your level before continuing.

GW2 is pretty big.  Certainly not zoneless like the chunking of Vanguard.  GW2 is the first game that I have played since Vanguard that offered the sense of depth of map though.

Oh please. Because it is divided in zones everything feels compact and nothing like the OP described. You people should stop spouting nonsence about GW2.

Another game with massive worlds (not much to do though) was SWG.

I actually think they design games these days where there has to be something to do every 20 meters. GW2 is like that. Fallout NV also. I don't mind walking for 5 minutes without discovering something. If you discover to much it all makes it seem meaningless.

I want to feel like an adventurer; when I discovered a structure with a quest in SWG after 10 minutes going in a random direction on my speederbike (probably more distance travelled then from east to west on the whole GW2 map) I felt like I really discovered something no one else had.

I think SWG had  to litte to discover for the size of the world but there is a middle ground somewhere.

I agree, much as I'm enjoying GW2, I also enjoy large, open worlds, and it does not fit the bill.  Luckily, I don't pay a sub for GW2, so I can go back and forth quite happily between it and games that have things it lacks.

Indeed. GW2 is not perfect and if it had a sub I probably wouldn't play longer then a month or two. Discovering events and a camp with NPC's (it doesn't have loot spread around like Fallout NV) will get old after a while. But I can always pop back in, t hat's the beauty of it.

This is exactly why I stopped playing Wow (after a few weeks)

Crafting COSTS money instead of making it (in general)

BUT in GW2 atleast the crafted weapons/armor are as good as the dropped ones.

So hopefully there will be money to be made once the market settles down and on higher level items.

Edit.

I just used up a lot of items (scales, blood, etc.) and  bought logs etc. from the TP to get to level 50 in crafting. Only to find out the stuff I can craft is to low for my level.. Keeping up crafting level to make gear for your character level seems mighty expensie right now.

I think I'm gonna stop crafting and just buy the gear :(

Plus I have most of the gear I need anyway from drops and otherwise I could buy them with karma points. PLUS for example you can't craft a level 21 bow (only 20/25/30/35/etc.) but they do drop. (with higher stats  then a crafted lvl 20 bow)

Right now it seems like WOW unfortunatly and crafting is pointless.

I went on a 10 day cruise so I missed the "big" launch of GW2. Did it live up to the hype and break all the records, smash WoW, and all the other stuff people were saying it was going to do?

I tried searching for any big news on it and found nothing other than  decent pre-launch numbers.

NO. is even behind swtor on sales,  and is B2P wich mean, for an overhyper game like gw2 should had sold more copies, i remember NCsoft talking about 3-5mill of copies at launch, is far behind that number.

Odd. It's sold out at a lot of stores and they postponed the sale on the official website.

Bit of topic but the map is bigger then the world is right?

I noticed a huge chunk does not have level numbers.

And just makes stuff up or repeat what they've heard from others.

The servers have been down for twenty!! minutes now and no one even noticed.

Mediamarkt Groningen has several in stock, only €42 to!

While we are talking pets. I often have it on non attack mode. And use it when I'm in trouble. I also often call it back to me when it seems to not be doing so good.

I forgot you can call your second pet when the first one goes down.. I might want to change tactics now.

I'm not going to rez my pet in the middle of a fight, it's dangerous and I can spend my time better.

The ball is in Arenanet's court not the Ranger players, they should do something about it if it is a problem.

No one answered my question:

What else, besides events (I mean the events which haven't been triggered by another player), jumping puzzles and caves can you find while exploring?

GW2 hardly offers any reasonable exploration.

It is not exploration if you follow a mark on your map for the next Vista or Heart Quest.

Exploration is if you can walk off-path and discover something that was not already marked on your map before.

The world is too small and too much filled up with mini-attractions and lacks any opportunities for real exploration.

Promoting exploration in games doesn't neccessarily mean that you give a small treasure chest behind every three.

While there are markers, there are loads of stuff that is not marked in anyway. Found some good things just by wandering to some place that on map had absolutely nothing interesting going on.

Like?

Not trolling I'm genuine interested. All I found so far whicch were not marked on the map are events. Then again I rush through areas and go to other areas once it's visible on my map.

None. Looked at the dollar price, looked at the euro price being the same.

Thought; fuck that.

I probably will buy some later, prices are good even when I have to pay 30% more.

Thanks for telling us this. I was getting worried at level 16 since events are getting boring. Athough I had a pretty epic fight yesterday on an event I started. (it much more fun when you start the event)
