Level 34 now. Just finished a level 25-35 area and compelted everything except the vistas. No crafting, no personal story, no pvp. And no grind at all. Well, killing the same creatures over and over get's a bit boring but that's it. I also like how I have to do only one level appropriate area without pvp, crafting and personal story so I can save the others for alts.

Alright thanks, also for the pm.

Really weird, this mail set all my alarm bells off. It looks not really profesional at all. Plus all the pay $40 to get beta acces stuff didn't seem legit. And obviously the e-sonyonline.com, since sonyonline.com still works.

To get acces to the PS2 beta.

All links goto link.e-sonyonline.com. I obviously did not load the images.

I think I found my problem.. I found other stuff as well, hidden caves,  jumping puzzles, gathering node area's, mini story. I went back t o a lower level area and discovered all these things.

It seems msot of this stuff is hard to find because off all the enemy mobs, especially since they respawn really quick.

The stuff I discovered in my previous post was only because I was teamed up at the time and could afford to stay in a dangerous area longer.

Glad to see you gave it another shot and found how much stuff there actually is to explore when you stop letting the game guide you from Point A to Point B. Thats one of the biggest problems a lot of people have. Theyre so used to being led from point to point that they have this mentality that there is nothing else to do besides that.

Oh no I was actually going off the beaten path. But it seems to me, a lot of the things you can find, are well guarded by enemy mobs. And fighting a passage or area filled with mobs around your own level is dangerous (and a bit tedious because they take forever to  go down) and makes me go explore somewhere less dangerous. And in my (little) experience you find less stuff there.

I've found the combat in GW2 to be less interesting than in TERA, about on par with TSW. With so few skills to use most of the time, my combat usually involves merely "waiting for cooldowns, press button". Switching weapons is about the most taxing thing I have to think of during combat (ranged vs melee). My Sigils? (I can't remember the name atm) work by themselves most of the time, the actives being so a) useless b) niche that I can't be bothered to press them unless i'm stuck waiting for cooldowns on everything else. Dodging is far less important here than in TSW and TERA as well.

Dodging less important? Whatever! You may not be saying that once you keep dying and paying a hight repair bill. Combat in tera is not interesting at all and boring.

My highest is only level 19, but I've died once. A single time. I must be godlike to not need dodge in GW2 and still have died only once.

That's odd, I've died a zillion times. Some mobs and bosses can down you in a single blow.

Then again, I play solo so find myself surounded and attacked by 6 enemies a lot of times :)

I don't craft, don't pvp, don't do personal story and I can level in one area.. I don't get why other people can not especially if you craft or pvp.

This is odd. I jsut logged in first time after I made the thread and played for an hour.

I first found a plateau with a group of gathering nodes protected by a troll.

But then, someone asked for help at a crypt somewhere which turned out to be a mini dungeon with traps and a shit load of enemy spiders. With a loot chest at the end!

I didn't even know that was in the game, mini dungeons I mean!! Turns out there are lots more of them. I quess I really haven't been exploring hard enough...

I never found a chest so I quess I haven't been exploring enough!

Perhaps I'm used to Bethesda (Obsidian) RPG's to much were you find loot in almost every structure and cabinet.

I read explore this explore that.

I'm level 28 and am doing a level appropriate area. I try to explore and found two events. Which consisted of yet another escort mission and a defend the town mission. I've seen them and other events loop now for dozens of times.

I also found a vendor under water which sold the same crap as other vendors. And I found another event underwater which consisted of beating him in a fight. That's it after several hours in one area and killing the same creatures over and over and over and over. Good thing the combat is fun but it's getting to me, since I'm not getting any new weapons skills anymore.

I'm hitting a wall here. I look everywhere but I know I will not find loot in structures and such and the events I find are either escort, kill a boss or defend a town. I don't really care when I find a "hidden" cave or structures since there never is anything to find there anyway. I don't consider finding a hidden cave in itself discovering..this is not 1992. I played Fallout NV and Skyrim.

Like I said I'm getting close to hitting a wall and slowly am less happy to log in, I need some positive words and reassurance there really is stuff to discover (please tell me WHAT) and events will get better..

I have not really an interest in pvp (right now) and stopepd crafting because it drained all my silver.

Exploring on this game is interesting. It comes down to opening a map, looking at the pre-determined points, and "exploring" them. It basically traded in a kill monster type grind, for a run around and look at these points we put on the map grind.

It was fun at first, but it gets just as old as killing mobs, and faster =/

That's how it plays to me..But I read a lot of posts about you should explore and find events and stuff.. But usually I see an event happen on the map, if I'm lucky it's still going on when I get there. But since I did not trigger it and I join half way the cycle I dont even egt to experience the story part of it.

Perhaps because it still is a very popular game and most peopel are still low level it is to crowded to trigger events yourself. But..most events I see are just very simple kill a boss, escort a guy, defend a town with almost no story at all...

I'm actually curious what would happen if the centaurs would win an event.

Would we see them slaughtering the civilians?

Would the town be festered by spawning centaurs?

Would there be an event where we must recapture the town?

I watched a few videos before launch showcasing what NPC's said, and did that initiated a chain of events, and I liked what I saw but the problem is I haven't actually seen it in game yet.. I always seem to stumble across the events and I really don't want to park my NPC in a spot and sit at my desk just waiting to see it all unfold.. As much as I'd like to see it all play out, I need action.

I triggered three events myself (lvl26) and it is a lot more fun that way. Somehow I feel responsible for the outcome when I triggered it.

Once I had to speak to a NPC to trigger the event, the other two times the NPC approach me.

I don't really like walking around the map seeing events triggered by other people, especially when you see the same 5 going off in a loop.

Well your opinion, not a fanboi here but I am enjoying the game.  As faras the crafting point maeterials costing more then the finished item i assume that s because your selling back to vendor and not on the trading post like was intended. roll the costs of all materials together with rarity of item your skill etc and set a price.

Your post basically said even with its flaws to you that you still enjoy it....I am stil lost as why you posted this unless your looking for some validation.

I was not talking about selling to the vendor, I'm not that far gone.

Generally, crafted items sell for less then the materials needed to craft them (especialy fangs, blood and stuff) on the Trade post. There are several threads about this on here jsut check it out.

Thats because you are choosing to buy your materials from players like me who are selling them for more than they are worth. Since people can level through crafting it seems many are willing to pay the price to do that and craft goods.

Since you can get all those materials for free by playing you can make money crafting, I was then I decided it was easier to sell supplies to people on the TP. Since low level crafted items are generally not very special they are not selling for any big prices.

Yes you can get the materials for free. BUT if you craft those materials you will be making less money then if you did not craft the materails and sold them on thier own. AKA you will make less money when you craft. (at least at low level)

I don't get it. Alright the combat is cool but in every other aspect it is far inferior to a single player RPG like Falout NV or Skyrim.

etc.

The reason why the combat is like such is simply because this is an MMO. If this would've been single player RPG then chances are it'd be more extreme in the combat department then usual.

To implement skyrim fighting into MMOs is very hard to do, and do efficiently. The socializing may not be as good, but the crafting mats costing more then the finished product is usual in MMOS because of one thing.

Crafting gives experience in crafting, and levels. That alone makes it much more pricey to train up.

hehe, if  you noticed I did not talk down about the combat. In fact I think it is much better then in Skyrim. I'm very impressed with the combat especially since it is an mmo. It is like they combined traditional mmorpg combat (press 1,6,2,4,8,2,4,zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz) with a 3th prson action game like Devil may cry (need a controller for this)

I think its due to most crafted items being items no one ever needs. The mats, however, are always needed (gotta craft the crappy stuff to get to the semi useful stuff).

I don't know but I doubt it get's any better at level 325 crafting. Here are some thread about the subject with some interesting thoughts and theories.

Why are you comparing a mmo to a single player game?

Why the hell not?

Why can't I open doors? Why can't I have loot in cabinets (which I can open)?

Why can't I have NPC's moving their mouth when speaking?

It's 2012. I can play GTA 3 on my phone ffs.

The game is EIGHT years old, what do you want?

Released at the same time as GTA San Andreas it is ANCIENT. We didn't even have ps3 and Xbox360 at that time, people were playing on the ZX Spectrum back then.

No one forced you to spend over a 1000 (Holy shit that much) on a videogame.

I don't get it. Alright the combat is cool but in every other aspect it is far inferior to a single player RPG like Falout NV or Skyrim.

I think it's the idea of playng with other people online in the same world. Not that I interact with them except seeing them run around and occasionaly shoot at the same enemies as me.

If this was a singleplayer RPG it would get extremely low reviews. No world loot. Can't open doors. Can't open cabinets. (One of the things that makes Bethesda (Obsidian) RPG's so good is missing 100%)

A lot of static NPC's. Personal quests cut scenes are laughable, no real story in hearts and events. Speaking with NPC's menu/system is poor. Events repeating in a loop all the time. NPC's dissapearing when you follow them (trying to follow up on events, wasn't that the idea?) NPC's spawning before my eyes all the time.

Two faction NPC's standing 10 meters apart not shooting each other. areas without anything to do but kill NPC's (no loot and missions remember), I really could go on.

They don't even make use of  the fact you are in a world with thousands (hundreds) of others. There is no socializing, you just see other people shooting at the same enemies which scale in difficulty anyway. Crafting is a joke to (crating materials cost more then the finished item) so there goes another reason to interact with people.

Still, I'm enjoying the crap hell out of this game, I'm more addicted then when I played Fallout:NV which I consider to be the best game ever made. I don't get WHY though.
