Picture should be working now. And it seems I stepped on some peoples toes.

I'm not in the beta, and I understand they upgraded the graphics compared to what we see on the net.
So obviously my statement about bland is to the pictures that are available to me.

Take a look at this picture I found on the Warhammer website; to me it looks like a game from 2002; not much detail and lightning in the environment.

This is what I call bland.

31 , and I hated my Atari 2600.

No I meant mounts, (and pets to)
In Star Wars Galaxies you can actually craft an egg which hatches a creature.

From your answers I gather the main focus of this game is on the Rvr aspect and questing/raids, I knew that, but didn't know they trimmed down the rest of the game to such extremes.

It seems there are not that many choices of what you can do in the game (no housing, no taming, no mining, no ellaborate ways to make money/economy, no ellaborate crafting).

The Rvr must be extremely good then to make up for the little choices.

Whats a PQ?

I've been following this game a bit for quite some while and since the release is getting nearer I'm getting a little bit exceited about this game.  So I have some questions.

How do you make money?

I watched the crafting video from the devs, and I assume you can sell some stuff you get from butchering and other crafting skills, assuming there  is a player driven economy in the first place. Since crafting is not very ellaborate to say the least; are their other ways to make money besides selling loot. In other words is making money even more dumbed down then in Wow?

Can you loot enemies you have slain?

Can you fish? (I love fishing in games (Swg, Wow)

Can any class/race have (combat) pets, and how many are there? And can you tame wild creatures like in Swg and Wow?

I understand there is no player housing , can you atleast build a guild hall, or several other buildings as a guild? Can you build your own tower, keep, whatever, which the enemy can destroy?

How big is the world?
Wow big or Swg (Star Wars Galaxies) big?

Thanks in advance.

Bland looking environment; it just doesn't have all that much atmosphere, especially buildings/towns.

Crappy crafting/economy; I watched the crafting explanation video and it really seems rubbish, not to mention you can't even craft clothes, mounts, houses, armor and weapons. How the hell are we supposed to make money, or is it just like WOW where you sell loot and resell NPC sold stuff?

I suppose for example Elfs and empire ppl can go help out in dwarf/greenskin in RvR/PvE zones and vice versa, but i havent really found anything on this.

How does it work? I guess order ppl should be able to play with other order ppl from a different race.

And can i chat with ppl from destruction if i am order, and the other way around? Or is it the same lame thing as in DAoC and WoW where you are basicly sepperated from one half of the server and the opposing players are more like mobs with weird AI?

Order can communicate with order not destruction and vice versa, the reason for this is aside from lore, I would rather not hear some idiot gank me, and then tea bag me trying to talk smack. So luckily no you can not talk to people of the other faction but you can talk to races of your own faction.

Ah thats to bad.
It makes the game feel a little bit uninvolved when you can't talk to the enemy, like you've just killed an NPC instead of a player. I love these little tells after a kill or death, even more if they involve smack talk. I smkck talk myself if I'm in a bad mood and just been killed.

Makes a kill or death that little more interesting.

Pass! 1 notch above most minimum requirements.

There are only 2 pets?

Allright thanks.

I want to try out Perfect world on the english Malaysian server but there is no link (anymore) on, only to the new international version.

So I need a link see.

The name of the english server in Malaysia would be appreciated to.

Not neccesarily the best but the most fun mmo's I played:

1 Planetside                   (2 and some years)
Much more complexity and choice compared to normal online fps games.
Quit because I got bored after two years and the fact the playerbase was very small.
Tried again 30 minutes ago but the game keeps freezing.

2 Starwars Galaxies     (6 months, and my first)
Played it twice. 6 months before the CU/NGE, and all I did was group and grind, lots of fun till I hit max level, then I quit. Played it again for a short time a few months back, appreciated the complexity of resource acquiring (factorys and stuff) housing and crafting, but was bored anyway so I quit again.

3 WOW                            (3 weeks)
VERY polished game, almost no bugs and I love the artstyle especially the scenery. Was not to happy with the simplicity and when I found out resources for crafting cost more then the final product I quit.

4 EVE                               (2 months)
Tried it twice byt it was to boring for me and I didn't like the fact it was in space.
I have much respect for the game and the developers because of the sandbox type game and the pvp. If they ever make a game with actual characters instead of space I would be very interested.

Don't blame SOE for something LucasArts made them do.

LEC didn't force SOE to implement the NGE, they allowed them to do it.  The NGE was concieved by the SOE development team, and LEC approved its implementation.

I voted no.

I quit SWG before the NGE and CU, but what they did is just wrong.

I  played SWG for 6 months and Planetside (SOE game) for two years and SOE are a bunch of incompetent liars who don't care for players and only care to make money in the short run.

please explain what i missed? really other then what i would concider an awsome social interaction the gameplay itself was less then steller the game was very very buggy or am i the only one who remebers corpse runs only to find you could not retrive your things?

am i the only one who remembers the awsome pvp that consisted of combat medics sitting at the bottom of a base spaming throws though walls?

am i the only one who remember soloing kryat dragons on tat ?

please if you remeber something i might have not experienceed please do tell ?

Long lines to get buffs from medics which you needed for everything, especially PVP. Not that there was a lot of pvp.

Lots of bugs, including many squad bugs, people dissapearing from squad etc.

Huge balance issues between "classes", basically everyone who was interested in combat went melee  (forgot what its called)

Everyone wearing the fucking same armor

Lots of specials from weapons not working properly or just being plain useless.

Did I mention LOTS of bugs, the forums were not a happy place back then.

Jedi's being overpowered (although this was only later on in the game, when they changed jedi)

Was the CU/NGE  needed or wanted? (I played before the CU and NGE, and forget which one is which)

Nope, if they would have fixed the bugs, balanced the "classes" and fixed the other shit like armor and buffs, the game would have been good.

BUT, the only thing I miss now from the old days is the fact you could build your own skills. A little of this, little of that, not premade classes like it is now. Then again; I never paid much attention back then to crafting, resources, food etc, so I have no idea how much they simplified those things.

But people claiming the game was very good in the beginning have very bad or distorted memorys.

It may not seem like there are a lot of people, but still, each server in that game holds 100 rooms, each room can hold 16 people, 6 servers, so that means a hell lot of people playing at the same time, just like you can't see other people on other maps or worlds in other games, just cause you see them doesn't mean they aren't there, so it actually is a MMO, though it may not seem like it. Besides, 250 people on a map like Junk Flea, you wouldn't be able to move without getting shot, in fact you can barely not be killed with 16 people on it.

Also, less people in a space meens less conpetition, and more of a chance that you'll do good

that doesnt mean anything. sure they may be playing at the same time, but it is NOT A PERSISTENT WORLD and those players will NEVER SEE EACHOTHER. therefore, it is not an mmo.

less competition does NOT mean its a mmorpg.

a higher chance does NOT make it a mmorpg.

plus, it is an awful game. you can play all day and only earn enough money to rent a gun for one day. then you go back to the default items. its not cool at all.

the only saving grace, that allowed the game to stay on my harddrive a couple minutes longer, was the ability to pick up other peoples weapons, that was pretty cool.

Sounds to Warrock to me.

AA...the game was better before they patched it than it is now. I could have dealt with the bugs and all, but the patches were brutal. Nerf this nerf that, make this stronger, make this weaker, shorten this timer make this timer longer, etc, etc. I know they are just tryin to make the game better but Im at the point where I dont think they have a clue what theyre doing.

I hit the cancel button the other day when they nerfed the terrain. I am a lvl 75 guardian in keshatta tryin to make it to 80. I jump up on a hill (a hill I have been on many times before) and I cant get up the damn thing. I was like "wtf??". After a few tries, I fall through the terrain with npc's attacking me as Im swimming to safety under ground.
I swim back to shore and then go to another hill (that i knew I could climb the day before) and the same fucking thing happened. As I sat in the water under ground, I pondered if AoC was worth my time and money to put up with this shit. It only took me about 30 seconds to log off, go to the subsciption page and hit the cancel button.

After I hit the cancel button I went to the AoC forums to tell of my misadventures only to find my account banned for a week for trolling for telling this story. After I saw that, I deleted the whole game from my comp and threw the CE box in the trash.

I will NEVER buy another funcom product EVER. And I hope those pricks go out of business for all the lies and bs that they have told all of us mmo gamers who paid to play this pos.

Nerfed the terrain.
Funny stuff this

16 vs 16 player matches.
I can see why you cal this an mmo..

So how many people do you have to see and interact at once with to call it a MMO?

I can play Joint Operations Typhoon Rising on a 250 player server, thats more people im playing with than any so called "mmo" out there. "MMO" is just marketing buzz word that really means "online game" which existed far before the RPG nerds got a hold of the idea of playing games online. They've been so slow to evolve they're still charging monthly fees for this crazy new thing called "online games" WOW amazing!!

Mmo means Massive multiplayer online, 16 vs 16 is not massive as most online games have more players then that. Massive indicates a lot more then the average number of players on a normal online game.

There are no clear rules but there are "guidelines" as what most people (I think) consider an mmo;

-A lot of people one 1 server/world
-the server/world is persistent

Joint Operations could maybe be an mmo with 250 people on 1 map (depends if you consider 250 people massive) but since it does not have a persistent world it is not.

Stats tracking like Call of Duty 4 and Team Fortress 2 does not count as a persistent world.
