Not surprising since they only sold 200.000 copies (first month or so). My advise is to find another game. (I myself am enjoying Guild Wars 2 very much atm.)

My experience was the same. I only did a dungeon once and din't even finished it. Even played with guild members. The problem I had was I could not pull just one enemy, attack one and they all come.
But, I can't really judge the dungeons because I do not know enough of this game and it's mechanics yet. Which brings me to my point; this game needs more tutorial. I mean, how many players know about combo's? |

OK, here's the thing......(explorer's perspective)
PvE & Crafting « Guild Wars 2 9/21/12 9:45:40 AM
In my opinion there are to many mobs and they spawn to fast. Plus it takes to long to kill a mob as well. This is a bit annoying if you are an explorer and want to check out every nook and cranny on the map. It is also responsibly for the fact I often outlevel an area before I explored it all (And I do not craft and PVP)
- There are other things to discover besides DE's by the way. Hidden caves, hidden chests, hidden puzzles, hidden mini story, hidden enemy. A lot of these hidden things come without bonus loot, a design choice apparently, perhaps to stop people farming them. -
That being said: Are you the same level as your mobs? If you are lower then the mobs, this issue will be much worse. You could try the opposite and explore lower level areas's. If you want to get more XP (I wouldn't if I were you) this is also a good method to gain XP because you will kill many more mobs in the same time.
Plus, you could do the personal story to get XP if you would need so. It is REALLY bad at the begining but once you join an order it get's a lot better. (at least priory does, haven't played others)

Originally posted by Nitth not really. All this was well know before release. There is no carrot in GW2. You play to have fun. That's it. And I am enjoying my pants off. I got already more hours in GW2 then Skyrim and Fallout 3 combined!! |

Originally posted by kadepsyson I do believe towns can stay captured though. If no one triggers the event to recapture it. Not sure. There are a lot of people running around so events never fail and get triggered every 5 minutes.

I fricking love this game. Exploring maps, finding events, even the personal story get's good once you join an order (level 31 or so) Crafting sucks and I do not know about the PVP. I don't know if this is a "real" mmorpg which will let me play for months, probably not. But since it is just as expensive as a single player game I can judge it like one. I already played this more then Fallout: New Vegas, my favorite single player game. |

Now we have to wonder who all is going to buy the expansion
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 9/15/12 9:57:29 PM
Depends what we get with the expansion and how much it will cost. I haven't played GW1, perhaps someone could fill me/us in what we can expect.
Anyway, I played for 95 hours already and only discovered 13% of the map so there's no rush :) |

Originally posted by xpiher You know, I am now doing the priory order story and it get's a whole lot better. No more running around doing stupid stuff. Also , at least so far, no more stupid choices for which you only have half the information. (my biggest complaint about the story) and the dialogue is hilarious. I really like my mentor priestess sienna or whatever and the head of the order calling her names. Brilliant cheesy dialogue ftw.

And the most played Class, Race, Sex, Trade Skill? (Answer inside)
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 9/15/12 4:54:53 AM
Originally posted by 7star I like to conenct with my character, lime it is me running around there. That's a bit easier when you choose a human character. That is also the reason most protagonist in games are a white man. |

The personal story bit of the game is pretty bad. I didn't even bother at first and catched up from level 12 to 31. If you think Bethesda writing is bad... they are gods compared to this dribble. The real pve is out in the world, exploring, finding and doing events. And some hearts, skill points and vistas along the way.

Originally posted by Kuinn I see a lack of loot not only with massive event bosses. If I find a hidden cave with multiple tunnels and stuff and battle a Veteran mob at the end I get nothing. In fact, I found several hidden caves and hidden enemies but never got any decent loot. One time, I did found a chest in a hidden cave. It was boobytrapped and I died. I think they do this on purpose, perhaps to stop peopel from farming these events and locations?

I like to know more about the general story and world
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 9/13/12 10:47:27 AM
Thank you everybody. I will also check out the Wiki links before I fire up the game tonight. I never really am interested in fantasy lore (I think Lord of the rings sucks) especially mmorpg's but somehow with GW2 I am. I checked out Fallout 3 and New Vegas background story but never really bothered with Skyrim for example. Perhaps all the races working together and preparing to battle the elder Dragons (aka apocalypse) sets the right tone. Plus with the Assura they throw in some scifi elements plus there are rifles so it's not the normal standard fantasy dribble.

Guild Wars 2: 2 Million and Counting
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 9/13/12 10:36:58 AM
Weird, I thought they would've sold a lot more. Since they were NR1 box sales in ten Europen countries. If an AAA game sells only 1 million it's a flop these days.. |

Funny how my opinion is completely the opposite. I can not stand the personal story and like running around exploring on the map. I'm now 15 levels behind on my personal story and trying to catch up but I really HATE it. |

I like to know more about the general story and world
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 9/12/12 1:59:33 PM
I know there are elder dragons who were awaken and destroyed part of the world but that's it. I would like to know more. also some short information about each race and the world in general. If anybody has a link or could write a short summary that would be great. |

Hit 80 today: Big turnoff on leveling alts in all the same level 25+ zones
Reviews & Impressions « Guild Wars 2 9/12/12 12:05:06 PM
I'm not allowed to say you played it wrong. But you played it wrong. 1) Do every heart, POI and vista in each region. 2) Farm every ore node I came across 3) Do almost every DE that popped up on my map. 4) Did story quests when I hit the appropriate level You forgot exploring every nook and cranny of the map looking for hidden stuff and triggering events yourself. You probably didn't see half of the events perhaps much less. And if you don't want that there is always crafting (bad idea) and PVP. |

Moments you've felt disgusted in a game.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 9/12/12 6:12:49 AM
Aion.
Just finished doing the starter quests (collect 5 of this, kill 6 of those, zzzzzzzz) and was finally transported to a major city. Where I had to do more crappy quests to kill 7 of those, collect 8 of these. I decided enough was enough and ventured 30 meters from my "collecting" zone, explorer that I am. I encountered some much higher level beasts which surprised me and a player telling me: "LOL, you are not supposed to be here, this is way to dangerous LOL" That was my moment of disgust and immediatly uninstalled the "game". |

Is there really any way to "spice up" quests?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 9/12/12 5:28:14 AM
Since the "quests" aren't nearly as good as quests/missions/objectives in single player games, I'd say there is some room for growth. I find this thread silly actually. Wake me up when the "quests" get as good as an objective in Deus ex. Which is from 2000 actually, 12 years ago. Hell, I'd settle for Fallout:NV typee missions.
