I hope they don't fuck this one up. I really would like to play it. |

Eve Online (I love the game) is the worst customer service ever in the history of bad customer service. I can go on for hours and I have proof but just trust me..it is the suck. |

True, an 8.7 might very well be the equivalent of a B+... But I challenge anyone to find a higher rated game reviewed from MMORPG.COM
Just for point of reference; here is the score MMORPG.COM gave some other fairly popular MMOs:
From the review score at least... it would appear that MMORPG.COM is endorsing that Aion is the best MMO currently available. I haven't tried it, so I can't say one way or the other. I just thought it fair to point out that for a MMORPG.COM review score; an 8.7 IS Epic!
Nice! That is exactly what I was saying. |

7.7 (C+) at best and that is because it is a very cool looking game with flight (limited flight). Rating Why is it you guys rate games that are just average with such high regard? It's not an terrible game by any sense of the word but this game is not ground breaking. This is the same whitewashed, reskinned, flavorless, classic grinder as the other titles they produce. You give it points because " what it does, it does well"? It better do it well..the game is a year old! I guess Koreans/Asians don't experience the same "in-game" issues we did at their launch of the game =/. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Gameplay The game does not really get good (boring actually) until lvl 25 (or so) because you open up the fun content but then by the time you hit 35 (or so) the grind begins. So the in the end, the game is only fun for about 10-15 levels. I love that it is not easy to achieve max level but there is no excuse for a game that was released a year ago (Korea/China) to have shitty leveling content or such a wicked ass leveling curve. Sean suggests that you can skip the pvp content but fails to tell you that if you do not like pvp then the game is not really for you, or rather, you should not play this game because if you don't gain xp/ap through pvp you will be grinding instances until you eyes bleed. Did you even mention AP and how important it is to this game Sean? I think most Aion players would agree that the game just starts at level 25-35. Dude you are reviewing the best part of the game right now. (if you have gotten further than level 25 then you have yet again failed to communicate that accurately in your review.) Comments Does anyone care about end game content anymore? How can you give an accurate review of a game if you have not even experienced what it is like to level and play at max level? I am a grinder so I am used to getting to end game and waiting two to three months for the end game bugs to be fixed and hope for some added content. 2 cents |

General: Top 10 MMOs Since World of Warcraft
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/14/09 4:08:13 PM
Clearly the OP was just stating "his" opinion, this list is not based on any fact or figures because though I do agree with most he must be drinking the fanboi juice on a few of these..Aion being the major one. How do you base success on three weeks worth of play? You need to post a retraction son. |

EVE Online: By The Numbers - EVE Statistics

Even is a instanced game. when you go through the jump gate that is taking you from 1 instance to another. and the whole argument "Well if you wanted to travel from one system to the next, but no one has ever done it and it would take a life time" is just retarded. If no one has done it then how do you know its not instanced?
(Not to mention the argument about being on one server.....and EVE doesn't have any graphics to speak of, they have a few low texture rocks floating around, your ship. and the back ground scenary. So yeah....)
Eve looks nothing like it used to. Do some research before you open that beef flap.

Everyone is on the "honeymoon" phase at the moment. I would like to see how this poll sums up in three months. |

What a dumb fix. People play on popular servers so they can compete on multiple levels as in, pvp, raids, gvg and whatever else you can imagine. I predict that this will solve nothing because players that want to remain competitive will always play on busy servers and the casual players want to be on a busy server so they can continue to find groups. Not bashing the game I just think it will solve nothing. They need a better fix. |

It's a dumb question, and the scales are balanced towards Aion. I am not fan of WoW but you are talking about a engine that is..I dunno 5-6 years old? Of course ion looks better but will it stand the test of time? That is the real question. |

EVE Online: What Dust 514 Means For Virtual Worlds
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/20/09 10:20:35 AM
Way to fuck your existing player base CCP. I am a PC gamer not a console gamer and now if I want to play this game to it's full potential I have to go spend cash on a crap console? Screw that. I did not spend $6000 on machine just to turn around and spend more on a crap console. It's like any game putting out an expansion and only allowing half of the player base to play. I have always loved CCP for what they have done with EVE but now I have lost full respect. Who payed for the devopment of that new game CCP? It's easy, we have because you guys were a bunch of no name gamers before we made you what you are. GG CCP, GG.

I think there should be more humor in existing and up and coming MMO's but I would never pay for an MMO just based on comedy. |

You have got to be kidding me...RMT?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 5/28/09 11:56:09 AM
In reply to my own post, I know this has been dicussed befor and if RMT is only for house items and things of that nature I am cool with it but that is not the only problem with this post. I mean, no player housing, no crafting besides LS's, no space and all instanced. |

General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 5/28/09 11:50:55 AM
This been posted yet?
Below Im posting an inside view of The Old Republic based on an inside source. And no I didnt have to dumpster dive this time to get this info rofl. Oh and before the flame wars begin, lets not forget I was dead on correct when I said Bioware was making a Star Wars theme MMO. And this was despite Bioware and LA both stating for a fact that this would not be a star wars MMO. This is going to be long and so I'll do my best to organize what I know as best I can. Many MMO's start out as an idea. Developers formulate a basic concept and then workshop ideas. A basic blueprint is written up and a budget is estimated. Then work begins. At this point some of the larger MMO dev houses present their blueprint to a marketing team. The team will do research to determine what kind f projected revenue they can expect and if the game will reach an intended target. Ideas are given back to the development team who may or may not revise their blueprint. I describe this as whats normally done within a development of an MMO. I mention this because TOR didnt start in this traditional sense. TOR was born from a business model. This business model was handed over to developers who were then asked to design a game around it. What was this business model you ask, it was a book. This book was written by Lucas Arts and inspired by KOTOR and its success. I dont know the origins of when and why it was done but this book is the framework for TOR. The game has been designed to play like a virtual book. Each chapter will have alternate endings based on which dialog you chose in the quests. The goal is to make the game replayable and new each time you start over. Each chapter has roughly the same content as a KOTOR game. And there are several chapters so the game does have a ton of content. The game is heavily instanced. If you have ever played Lord of the Rings Online, its similiar to the beginning quest sequence and some of the books. You will literally watch a story unfold in front of you in your own little world. There are several cinematic scenes in the game. Its definitely NOT open. There are no giant worlds you can freely explore. Its sort of like Guild Wars or a variation of Age of Conan. No player cities and no housing. There is no space content so if your hoping for a JTL in TOR you better look elsewhere. There is a few quests involving boarding a ship but you arent going to fly around in an X-Wing doing missions. The story evolves. Think Books in Lord of the Rings. They plan on adding new chapters to the story. Here is the catch, you will likely have to pay for each new chapter. Its not really an expansion, so its more like buying some additional quests. There are classes in the game but not in the traditional MMO sense. There isnt a tank class or a healing class really. Each class can dps and has some healing abilities. Each class will start on its own planet and will have a unique series of quests to start the game. Once you leave the planet, the quests will be mostly the same as other classes but the dialog is unique to each class. Of course there are different possibilities based on the dialog you choose. Also cinematic sequences will be different depending on class. You can solo through the entire game. Not to say there arent group quests, there are but you can skip them. If you dont like questing, this game isnt for you. There really is no other means to play the game. There is no non-combat class. There is a limit to the number of companions you can have. And in a group you cant have two of the same companions out at the same time. Also you can only have one companion out at a time. Crafting is very basic. You craft your own lightsaber. There is no weapons crafting or armor crafting of any kind. There are some quests that require you to do some basic crafting like fixing a shield generator or fixing a droid. There are some modifications you can add to your gear. But you arent going to make your own gear.
Its definitely a PvE focused game. PvP will be limited to duels at this point. There are no raids, at least not in the traditional sense where 25 people go into a dungeon like in wow. combat is classic rpg with a toolbar and specials with cooldowns. Bioware wont support addons and apparently it will be considered an exploit to use one. No idea why.
To summarize the game, its not really an MMO in the traditional sense. Some people are going to be upset by the design. Others like KOTOR fans will absolutely love this game. Oh and there will definitely be RMT plus a subscription fee. |

General: Most Anticipated Games: Where Are They?
News Discussion « General Discussion 5/21/09 5:13:53 PM
Sad thing is... Most of these failures have become almost acceptable to the MMO community. I have lost count of how many times I have heard the terms; “bugs are part of launch", "give the game six to twelve months and it will become a good game”, "people just do not understand coding, you fix one thing, and you break another". We are quite literally paying for mediocrity and, we just keep subscribing to it. No one, myself included, steps up and says “Screw this, give us a good game in the first week of launch or I am out’. The only hyped game in the past 10 years that I did not jump on the bandwagon for was DFO. I hated beta and unlike AOC, Vanguard, SWG, EQ2, DoAC, WH, (all of which I was in alpha/beta and thought they all sucked but still paid to play at launch) I was not going to do it with Darkfall. I have decided that I am not going to make excuses for inept developers and publishers anymore. Maybe it is because I am getting older, (35 in a few weeks) but I refuse to invest $60.00 - $100. (Collectors edition) for a game then pay $192.00 (15.99x12) so that I can get a game that I played in beta but with a few slight improvements. I am very anxiously awaiting the release of SW:ToR and I am currently in the Global Agenda Alpha (By far the best alpha I have ever been in) and I hope to see solid launch for once. *fingers crossed* |

LoTR best grahics in MMO's....not a well known fact.

A secret is right lol.. I don't like AoC or LoTRO but AoC's graphcs blows doors on LoTRO. Personally I cannot see how the OP ever came to this conclusion. |
