but it's clunky ,slow .ugly ,the premise is awesome but playabilty horrid,O i know i'll get people telling me graphics don't matter, but my issue is with the slow zombie like combat, tedious to the point of a postal job crafting system add set in a world of 1998 graphics,I own the game so will probaly play in hopes that what i saw so far was alpha code cause if it was not this will be another great idea that will last very short time

Way to break your NDA agreement...

Have you ever played World War II online - I'd be interested to know what you think of that game as well, as my intial thoughts after seeing the screenshots of Roma Victor were that the graphics are similar to that of WWII online, and the gameplay there definitely makes up for the lack of graphical splendour.

ww2ol is actually a good mark... since roma victor is going for realism... your not gonna have bf2/cs/quake jumping and running around at 10x human speed kind of combat.

its the most realistic combat i've ever see, on par with mount and blade but not the exact same system. and realistic means realistic, not that you can move like an elf or wolfman but you can click buttons to slash and to block.
third person view is simply for looking at your character, you cannot fight or do anything else while in tpv.
oh oh ! kannoth let my men crucify him, we are getting rusty hehe.

all the idiots in the past who have came on here blabbing about how theres nothing in the game.. have obviously never played anything except two weeks before wow was released...

ANYONE who has done a resonable amount of beta testing knows how its done. I wont say anything more since the blabbermouth who started this thread decided to blab hehe.
never happened.

I said it before and I will always say it.. rv is not for 90% of mmorpg players. I hope it grows slowly and does well, but it will never be an uber blockbuster like wow or swg  , however like both of those games, maybe roma victor will bring in NEW people to the mmorpg community that never played them before. And no doubt if RV does well we will see more of its type.
RV has proven to me that a system like verm can work. I chose verm. In this game no matter how you made it rich, your going to have advantages. And unless we have some bill gates running around no one is gonna become instantly super rich ingame, not only from just the sheer amount of real life money you'd have to spend, but also from the fact that there will most likely be limits to how much you can buy, since everything is connected and controlled like a real economy.

* orders his legion to crucify all three spartacusi *

It's nice to see my arch enemy on the cross :)

while I have always been in a guild of some sort except for some times in UO, I am also totally against "guild only" features.

the mmorpg industry is going to hell in a handbasket..

I dont believe its a bad thing that this game is not for everyone. That is something i have been saying on these forums, and even said in my player preview of RV on this webiste.

For those who are looking for something different then every mmo ever made since UO( eq, AeqC, DAeqOC, SWeqG, etc etc) and love the concept of a realistic and historically accurate hardcore mmo. Then this game is for you.

as for the interview, a good one. Although its no secret that I am in the test since I wrote that preview.. I can say that I eagerly await the full release of this game so we can get down to the buisness of recreating ancient Rome :P.

In 30+ beta tests, and all the games ive followed.. these devs are the best. I've followed Darkfall since day one and they treat their fans like we dont exist. I fully support RB and their game.

Finally a Dev who comes here to say whats really going on...I am amazed...I have played SWG for over 2 years and have not seen a dev devoted enough to give it to us straight with the exception of the Spacetime guys who no longer work with SOE I might add...
Have not been following RV too much but was thinking about getting into it due to some friends touting it as the next big thing...I am a patient person so I am happy to hear they want to have a finished product to come out with instead of a SOE Product...
I thank you for that...even if RV does not become my next favorite MMO I do Respect this company for its devotion to the players...

As I said in my preview for RV on this website, These are the best devs I've ever had the pleasure of working with. They have nothing to hide and are always honest with the testers. I know it sounds annoyingly fanboish, however It comes from the experience of 30 beta tests over the past 10 years.

The main game I have always followed, was Darkfall... and they treat the community like we dont exist, compared to that the RV devs are on the opposite side of the scale.

as for the pre order issue. I think people expect that since they pre order they will have the full game all nice and pre tested so they dont have to do anything. No one is forcing you to pre order, infact, i've donated close to twice the amount atleast that these people bought the pre order for.

The game needed more time, and how much more time it will end up being , I dont even think the Dev's can truely know. There is always a monkey wrench hidden in the code somewhere hehe. This is why I think most devs tend not to give many dates, as it has come back to bite some devs(ahem shadowbane) in the past.

Just say not to preorders.
Game companies don't deserve a penny until they release a finsihed polished product.
Remember Mourning?

I actually agree with that really... ive never pre ordered a mmorpg, and it would have to be something ive waited for for years and wanted badly to do so hehe.

it is the common thing these days in the mmo industry though.

nobody, not even the devs, can truely predict when a game will come out.

bottom line is, its worth the wait... and if you want to try your hand at helping make it a great game, you can always pre order.
