Most times gold spamers will delete and remake toons in a attempt to not get caught by the gms or what not.

But honestly , gold spaming has always been a part of mmos, ignore it as best you can untill mythic sets up some sort of anti chat spam thing for the game.

This makes sense. So even though they use the same name the ignore might not recognize it? Nice to see a few intelligent response to my problem.

Ummm playing, what level are you? I happen to have 3 toons over 20 I play plenty enough. Move on with my life? Only someone who makes games their whole life would make a remark like that. If you think games are my whole life, you probably need to get a life.

These are forums to discuss problems and success in games by people who actually care about them. In the time you spend making useless responses you might actually try to formulate useful response.

Mythic seem to be working their butt off banning gold seller accounts and finding ways to ease the pain by offering temporary solutions while they work on a long term solution no doubt, as do most MMO's which have issues with gold sellers.

You miss the important issue. The spammers are somehow bypassing game mechanics. They bypass ignore lists and you can not even submit a ticket to report them. I tried to report 4 of the spammers this morning and the ticket was rejected saying those names do not exist. I got that message right as one of the names that "does not exist" was spamming me. I have never seen that in any other game with gold spammers. Now do you understand? I do realize WAR is a huge game I also understand the work that a developer needs to do to fight gold spammers however the situation in WAR is different. You are not responding to an mmo newbie I have been through dozens of launches over the last 10 years! Mythic does not seem to be working their butts off. If that was the case it would slowly be getting better. My experience is it is getting worst.

If you've been an MMO gamer for over 10 years, you should be well aware of the gold selling problems in ALL mmo's.  WAR is certainly not the first and will not be the last.  Every game I've played in the MMO genre has always had problems with gold sellers. WAR is no different.

I reported 3 gold spammers this morning with no problems whatsoever.

Good for you, all 4 I tried to report it said they did not exists that is a fact. Every response has ignored the fact that somehow the spammers are tricking the game to think they do not exist or if they are on ignore they can still send you tells. Ummm Yes I have been in mmos for 10 years. I also noted that I understand that gold selling is in all mmos but nothing like what I have experienced in WAR. WAR is different, it is far worst!

So don't come here and suggest I do not understand launches and gold spamming or that somehow I am not reporting them right. Did not want to do this but I think I need to. MMOs I have been in at launch, UO, EQ, AC, AC2, D&DO, SWG, DaoC, Horizons, WoW, EQ2, LoTRO, FFXI, Silkroads, Guild Wars, Saga of Ryzom, Tabula Rasa, Hellgate London, Planetside, Vanguard, RF Online, CoH/CoV, Archlord, AoC, and few others. In my experience WAR has been by far the worst for gold spamming and I have seen no progress in the area of fixing it. I never said they were not trying I said it has not gotten better and because it is so relentless it has now effect my enjoyment of the game. I can ignore a few /tells but to get them every few minutes I have never experienced that in any other mmo and I truely doubt you have either.  I am not a WAR hater I love the game and defend it. however I can not defend this apparent lack of success by Mythic in this area and yes if it continues at this level it is a game breaker.

WAR is a great game but has a huge problem. Infact after this morning (off-time) I am thinking of canceling my account. Gold Spamming!!!!!!!!! Mythic claims it has the smoothes launch in mmo history. That maybe, it was smooth. However since the first hour I logged in the gold spamming has not stopped. Just this morning in about an hour of play I recieved 11 /tells. WAR by far has had the worst gold spamming in any mmo I have ever played in nearly 10 years of mmo experience.

Why this might cause me to leave WAR?  Well, I have no faith in EA/Mythic's ability to protect my account. You see the thing is that 6 of the gold spammers were on my ignore list. When I tried to submit a ticket to report the gold spammers I get a message saying no character of that name exists. I have had a ticket submitted for over 2 days asking for a csr to help me if my ignore is broke or way to not get so many /tells. I looked for a way to stop /tells which would suck but I could not find that. Still no response from a CSR

If the spammers can bypass the ignore list and make it so their names do not exist. They must be hacking. If they can bypass these things what is to say they can not eventually hack our accounts. The lack of crs response and the ability for spammers to bypass games mechanics makes me want to log in less and less, simply because of the constent hassles. This is not a small issue. It is also so bad you can not just ignore the occasional spam it is relentless and the same people have been doing it for days. Mythic claims to be be doing a lot about it. I have not seen any evidence they have done anything. With each passing day the gold spamming gets worst. This maybe a game breaker for me. You just can not get immersed in the game with gold spams every few minutes and this is not an exaggeration.

If there is no problem in this then why the need for cryptic message about one of the sites. If this is all fine with all parties involved then let's start a thread for information on this. If I am wrong and this is all above the board and no problems I might like to try it. I must be misinformed I did not realize SOE, Lucas Arts were ok with this.

The reason for the secrecy here is because MMORPG.com applies a blanket policy of "don't ask, don't tell" to ALL private servers, regardless of the circumstances.  Also, SOE and LA never officially released a public statement saying "Go ahead and create emulators, we don't care", although I imagine they'd not lift their iron fists off the table even if that happened.  If you're a member of the SWGEmu community, or if you've done any investigation over there, you realize it's fairly common knowledge that SOE and LA have given that stamp to the team.  The fact that the server code is being written completely from scratch and that nobody will be making any money from it is what prompted them to allow it.  You can play it with no concern that anyone's toes are getting stepped on.  Beware that it's still being developed, though, and there is quite a bit still missing at this time.

Even at swgemu they will not talk about the legality of it. They simply say it is legal and that is all that will be said about it. That concerns me. I have been to the site and the forums and never seen any direct statement reguarding SOE and LA being on board.

Simply on a gaming end I would hate to put time in it to have it all shut down for legal reasons much like NGE caused me to quit in about an hour. Now I never thought I would go back but to play pre-nge SWG for free with the legal ok then I might indeed try it out.

So did I. I went from game to game to game searching for the same feel, the same sense of immersion, the same rich environment.

So glad I found it.

Spill the beans! Where and what did you find?

Suposedly When Games change or are cancelEd, Many Unhappy  people get together and try to relive the experience. COMprende?

No I do not COMprende. I thought he was talking about a NEW game. You comprende? I already know about the private servers. I have no desire to play pre-nge SWG even if it came back. I said I missed it not that I wanted to play it.

ummm SWGEmu.com is no secret I thought you were talking about a totally new game. Sorry if that makes me a nut job. I was actually hoping you found some new game that was over looked by mmorpg.com in your first response. Bring It To Every, March Event.

might not be a secret, but it IS a taboo topic on this site. So to avoid getting banned, any references need to be as cryptic as possible.

You mentioned that you missed the game, some of us figured that since you did, you may want to be able to play it.

Glad we went out of our way to help, and got a bunch of attitude back from you in response.

Like I said I misunderstood your first response. I thought you were talking about a new game. Then I get a cryptic response to play on the private servers. I was being a bit sarcastic since I was waiting for info on this new game I thought you were talking about. I also do not support these servers. Even though I want to play pre-nge SWG a lot, I do not think pirating intellectual property is right for any reason. I would never play on one of those servers. The only real attitude was my b i t e m e remark since I was offended by the nut job comment. I felt it was uncalled for because I simply misunderstood your original post.

I fail to see where writing one's own code from scratch is piracy, but you are entitled to your opinion of course.

Although, it seems that Lucas Arts agrees with me on this as well.

In any case, I'm going back to farming skill tapes at the imperial prison. Have fun in whatever you're playing.

I loved the vast open sandbox of SWG, and the player housing.

I'm currently loving LOTRO.

However no game has ever had the same effect of my that WOW did when i first started playing. I've never spent so much time in a game. It's to put simply a class act. The world always draws me back, and it's the best most detailed game world ever created in a MMO.

Most people who dislikes the game, only dislike it because it's cool to dislike WOW, much like President Bush. This video sums up perfectly what a great game WOW was and still is:

I dislike WoW because it got boring for me and was to gearsentric. Not because it is cool to dislike WoW. Not everyone who comes to these froums is 14 years old. Lets see it has been about, oh 35 years or so since I worried about being cool. Get a grip!

I have a pretty close rating to yours, EQ2 is 2nd on my list, same games different order. AoC, EQ2, Vanguard, LoTRO. Yes I think EQ2 is better then LoTRO. Yes I know art and graphic. Not going to list my credentials but they are significant. I do think LoTRO has some for the best graphic in mmos but they felt flat to me. Graphics are more then just how pretty they are and LoTRO are pretty.

For me it is actually how dimensional the graphics feel and how consistent the character graphics work with the art of the environment. EQ2 excels in the area. EQ2 does not have the flashiest graphics compared to those other games but they seem believable as a living world. AoC does this really well but the game does not live up to the graphics.

There are things I would like to see updated but mostly in the area of graphic performance more then art. I simple think that even after 4 years they are some of the best graphics in the buisness. That is if you have the rig and the game setup right to enjoy them. Most people who do not like EQ2 graphic never really get the chance to enjoy them. I said most and not all, so no need to say you got game on maxed with good performance and still hate the graphic. I know that some dislike them because of the look but I think most never really have had the chance to play the game in its fullest glory. Still a winner after 4 years in my book.

As has been recycled on the EQ2 boards over and over again what is needed is to put the load more onto the video card instead of the current imbalance to the processor.  That's what is really needed here.

Edit:  Meh woops.  3 day old thread.

I was the one who made that thread. Just go to the top of the forum list for it. mmorpg.com made it a sticky. If anyone has any additons or info on current or future graphic post info there.

I wanted to make a thread where people could get info on graphic issues with EQ2 because they can be a bit complicated.

Your comment is not truth. Truth is not relative when you say "relative" then it is opinion. I agree that WAR is a lot more fun then AoC. We are on the same page with that. However WAR for me is far, far from one of the greatest mmos produced. Really fun game though.

For me one of the greatest mmo ever was pre-nge SWG even with all it's flaws.

I am not let down by WAR I really like it. However it should have been 40K. I totally agree with that. It would have been better.

Skrofler is correct in his response to pappy's comments. Pappy, remember WAR is not a WoW, LoTRO, or an EQ2 style game. That is what you are complaining about. WAR is a pvp big time fighting game and that is what is does really well. All the rest of that fluff is fun and I love it in my fav mmorpg EQ2. I do not play WAR to be another EQ2 or WoW. I play it to compliment my EQ2 experience. Sometime I just want to raise hell and be in a huge war. WAR does that better then any mmo I have played. You are right it is lacking a lot of mmorpg conventions. It lacking them becasue they are simply not needed in WAR. The old apples to oranges comparison holds true here. Stop trying to make WAR what it was never intended to be. If you do this you may find, like I did, WAR is a really great time and well made game.

Pappy you say WAR has only slightly better graphic the WAR? I have posted this picture in other threads. This is a dwarf in both WAR and WoW both at maxed graphic settings, my game play graphics. WAR takes a bit more power but not much more then WoW. You get much more graphic punch for you buck in WAR. You may like WoW's look better, but WAR has more advanced graphics and Mythic has done a great job getting this quality on a lot of machines. Way more machines then LoTRO or EQ2. Hats off to Mythic for this effort. Not sure how anyone would prefer WoW's graphics over WAR. I understand they may prefer the game but the graphic? I will never get that one.
