Star Trek Online: Jack Emmert on Microtransactions
News Discussion « General Discussion 7/20/09 10:22:55 PM
Blah, I'm not surprised after seeing Champions. I will be waiting at least 3 to 6 months after release to see what happens before I pick it up, if I do. What a buzz kill. |

Star Trek Online: Kobayashi Maru: Klingon Edition
News Discussion « General Discussion 7/14/09 11:12:46 AM
I have to agree with you both, this just doesn't fit at all. It is disappointing and shows that they may not be researching all the material they stated they were. Seems like they have a Federation mindset, and that just wont cut it for Klingon related missions and objectives. After seeing Champions I was a bit worried how STO was going to turn out, now I'm more so.

Stargate Worlds: Closed Beta Announcement and Screens
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/03/08 10:32:35 AM
Nice! I've been looking forward to this game since I learned about it. Now all thats left is to cross my fingers and hope I'm selected to test. It's always nice to have the oppertunity to test games you have an interest in, but then again who knows. I've tested my fair share of the games currently on the market and I've played nearly 80% of them for more than 6 months.

I plan on playing it once a trail is introduced, as I've wasted to much money on games that really didn't appeal to me.

This months Game Informer had a 10 page feature on STO. Some very interesting things in there from Craig Zinkievich, about how extensive the customization will be with both avatars and starships. Tidbit: "New Star Trek episodes rarely passed without the appearance of some new alien species. Because of that, players are allowed for forego the more common races and create their own." Not sure if that is news to anyone, I'm trying not to follow the game to closely until closer to launch. Its like being on the verge of starvation and smelling pizza you cannot eat. LOL |

Pirates of the Burning Sea: Buddy Keys Available
News Discussion « General Discussion 3/25/08 10:18:02 PM
Wouldn't mind getting a hold of one of them. I followed the game for a little over a year, but after the delays I moved on. Im not the kind of die hard gamer that follows a game from start to finish, I've seen more than a few games I drooled over never see the light of day.
I'm a bit curious to see how things turned out, but not 50 dollars curious. |

I like the solo feature of the game, but I do feel that it should gradually shift at least somewhat to 2 to 5 people groups. I am no fan of raiding and avoid games that have it bleeding out its eyes, but it appears this is on the other end of the scale. Its a fun shooter type game, I like the setting and the feel, even if my computer cant handle it. I dont really follow games closely so maybe they plan on beefing up some of the encounters or applying a difficulty toggle for instances where friends can group together for increased rewards would be a nice idea. They have like 8 or so instances per area, it would be interesting if one or two of those were set on insane, with the Bane in total control and in force.. haha |

I have, but my system is a little outdated. I've preordered the collectors edition, but I did it at GameStop so its not like I cant put the money towards a different game if I feel the performance isnt acceptable.
I have mixed feelings about the game, but the pros are a bit higher than the cons. |

I was hacked once playing WOW and it was the reason, well one of the reasons I quit playing as well. The GM was nice and professional and helped me as much as he could. In the end I got back my gold, but lost my gear. I found myself playing less and finally just canceled my account. I may start it up again once the snow starts flying here in North Dakota, but I will cut and paste my username and password from a random document to further secure my info.
I got the keylogger from a mod, if I play again I will go mod-less, I dont pvp or raid so it shouldnt be too rough. haha |

Voted too soon to tell. I like the game and the overall theme, I like the AI and the combat system, how taking cover plays a role in the battle. What I fear is that there may not be anything to do after a few months of play time, even for me and I dont game all that much these days. I have the game reserved and will be optimistic that content will flow from the coders like sweet honey. The clan wars might be fun, but the dev response to pvp seemed a bit off the hip to me and as such seems to be tacked on. |

To the person that mentioned WOW; lets not forget that WOW had its share of bugs on release and although those bugs may have been few, I spent my fair share falling through the world or losing some item that I know I had when I logged out. 30 days may be just about right, depending on the current build, either way we will know in a month. |

I'll reserve judgement, but I am a bit concerned. My computer is over 5 years old and it runs the game fairly ok, I need to upgrade my ram, but over all its an enjoyable experience most of the time. |

To all the people that think ddo should be closed
The Rusty Nail (General) « D&D Online 9/06/07 1:34:54 AM
I couldn't get into DDO, but if someone is enjoying the game YAY for them.
I don't think games should close personally, but there are costs to keep it up and running. I used to enjoy EnB and when they shut down the servers I was somewhat pissed, as were many others. Lord knows it didn’t have a huge fan base, but there were enough of us still playing that it shouldn’t have ended. Same goes for Auto Assault, it was different and I’m sure there were enough players to keep at least 1 server running. In the end it all depends on the almighty dollar and whether or not they are making enough money off the gamers playing. Any developer that states they are making a game for the enjoyment of it is either lying through their teeth or just escaped from some state hospital for the insane.
Umm what am I saying…. Oh ya, if you don’t like a game just walk away and don’t look back. There is no need to get the pitchfork out and light the torches. Let those that enjoy it continue to play and you play whatever strikes your fancy. |

Originally posted by trentonx I only played the game about a month, maybe a month and a half when it was first released so I didnt recall it had only one server. The story is true however, as I have no reason to lie about it. I didn't bring it up to boast about it and had I not seen this topic on the front page of the website I wouldn't have recalled it in the first place. I only mentioned it because it fit in the context of the thread being discussed, so believe it or not it really doesn’t make any difference to me.

A friend of mine was actually paid for doing something simular back when the game first released, not only that, but he sold all the resources, ships, scamatics and what not on ebay for well over $2500.00. It was so long ago I cant recall the server, but the name of the Corp was Pax Imperious or some such. If any of them still play Im sure they will remember Ceasar, Tyr Annasazi or my character Capricious. I was shocked when he let me in on what he was doing, I was on my way back to the station. I just sat outside waiting for s**t to hit the fan. He came out with a newly made cruiser, i think, and started attacking the members(me included). Wiped them all out, the corp chat filled with get over here NOW, Ceasar just stole all our s**t, kill that *********. I wasn't in on it, seemed like an asshat thing to do. He did allow me to pod him after he changed back to a startership. The corp placed it in the empty station after parading it around. Not soon after the corp disbanded and the leader(his target) quit the game. This was before the different permission levels were introduced. He was reported, but nothing happened. Just before he looted the corp he contacted a GM and told him what he was about to do. The GM told him it wasnt a very nice thing to do, but he wasnt breaking any rules. |

I read that this morning and It really upset me. As a father, my son is the most important thing in my life and I just cant fathom how people can do things like this to their own flesh and blood. I pray they NEVER get their childern back and they get the s**t knocked out of them in prison.
