ps: i am horde, never played an ally. but i know the reason sly was in gilneas was a command from garrosh (another living one)

yup, and garrosh's ambassador leaves saying something like "and remember, garrosh said no plauge"

and Sylvannas tells her henchmen to ready the release of the plauge, garrosh be damned.

and Garrosh calls her a "bitch" what's your point? Sly hates Garrosh (and he hates her) and would gladdly rip his heart out if she could get away with it, if she disagrees with the child's way of thinking she will go against him. The two never get along unlike Thrall, Garrosh does not have her respect (or that of most of the Hoard). However the child is learning but I don't know if it's quick enough.

sorry but that's plain wrong ^^

lemme guess, you guys are allies? sylvanas never droped her role of the "protectors of quel'thalas", who ALLWAYS have been living.

also, she teamed up with thrall (another living) to stop the attack of the royal apothecary society.

if what you said would be true, she would have been removed along with varimatras after the incedent, but this was not the case.

and it was sylvanas who led the attack vs arthas in the frozen hall, another approach AGAINST the scourge and FOR the living.

so, if i am wrong here, dont make up assumptions, gimme some facts plz beside you saying it is like it is :)

as said before, dont mix up the apothecary society and the scourge with sylvanas and the forsaken.

"Their objectives are twofold: eliminate the Scourge, and establish a place for themselves on Azeroth" THAT was and is sylvanas goal. not to eliminate all live on azeroth, that's actually deathwing's goal :)

the plague sly authorized was aimed against the lichking and the scourge, she has been betrayed by the RAS.

just curious, you guys are allies eh? :)

and in the worgan intro quests she,'s use again to take Gilneas and wipe out all the living beigns there to gain free access to it's resources.

Killing a group of people to gain a strategic foothold in a growing war is very different from wanting to kill off all life on Azeroth.

just because they died and due to the enviroment came back to life doesnt mean they are evil ... they can be holy if they want to ! :P

No because all forsaken want to eliminate "the living" thus they are evil like sylvannas.

At least that was when wow was created please tell me if they changed that part too.

sure you dont mean the scourge?

Maybe you are right and they are not bad afterall.

But the idea of an undead priest or monk  to me doesn´t fit very well sorry.

It doesn't fit well if you make the assumption that being undead makes you evil and devoid of morals, but their not. They remember who they were before they died and some try to continue that life while those living around them judge them as "evil" and try to end them permanently.

However lets look the individual, you remember who you were before you died. You were recently released by the scourge and are now trying to find a meaning to hold on to. This path sounds a lot like a monk (eastern), monks are not religious or even spiritual they are people seeking to better understand themselves and from that the world.

Heck if a Buddhist saw an undead as they are in WoW they would not reject them but help them to understand this new path in their lives. It is not really all that silly when stop and think about it, they were living and all that really change is the living part they still have their own morals and beliefs. So lore wise it works out nicely, hell as someone who doesn't like the undead I just might play one as a monk now that I think about the reasons for being one. ;-p

But in the end who the hell cares, it's a flipp'n game with dragons, gnomes, spaceships with alien gods and a hole in the middle of the world and the fact that an undead can be a monk doesn't seem to fit? 0.o

I see a lot of comments in these forums about Blizzard aiming this new expansion at the 12 year olds . Well I've got nephews of 11 and 12 years old and neither of them would want to play a game as a Panda partly because they would see it as a game for really young children . They are much more into things like Halo or Company of heroes .Things with a bit more grit and realism to them . My point is the average 12 year old boy at least would find a Panda very uncool and be a bit embarrised to play one or a game with one in and certainly would never tell thier friends about it because they would be teased mercilessly at school.

I did ask my 13 year old neice what she thought of it .she said they were "cute but a bit silly" so I'm not sure how female gamers of that age range would respond to it either .

So love or hate the Pandas its diffcult to see what demographic it would appeal to . Its hard to see a lot of mature older gamers wanting to play one   so maybe Blizzard are trying to appeal to a very young market (younger than the 12+ rating). Or maybe its the asian market that love things like this .

Whoever it is . Its not the kids around the age of 12 .

I am thinking they are "pandering" to fans who wanted the Pandaren in game since release, but that's just me.

Pandaren ≠ kids

Pokémon might though... ;-)

Slightly off topic I am personally excited about both, I have enjoyed the almost cult like following the Pandaren had with warcraft and into world of warcraft and as  collector I am looking forward to collecting and battling pets. Personally I just think all this (the people asking why me or raging) is much ado about nothing.

I can tell many of you have totally misread what I wrote so here I am to repeat again:

I never said that Pandarens are not part of Warcraft lore, but they have never been part of WoW lore. Much like the Draenai when they were first introduced into BC and then their presence was known, but except that this whole expansion is focusing on one race. Yes, one race. Why the focus on a race that has never been part of WoW? There's the difference.

Once again, yes WoW has satire humour, quests involving bits of humour, NPCs etc and in a way it has its place and I personally enjoyed the Uldum area BUT the whole THEME of Wow has never been what Blizzard is now making WoW turn into by introducing a race that looks too comical, and that the whole central point of WoW has shifted. Shifted away from one big baddie to a race that is to me an insult for what WoW used to stand for: OUR battles, our struggles, our win against the evil in Azeroth. NOW, they are presenting WoW to be like what Chris Metzen said; a calm before the storm. Why?

Well, this is a matter of opinion isn't it? I think that gnomes are far more ridiculous looking then the pandarean, which I think look cool as hell. And we didnt misread anything. The Pandareans have been mentioned in wow as pointed out (Chen). Are all of these battles and struggles you speak of going to be that much more ruined when playing a panda over say a large cow? Or an Alien? I think you need to give this a chance before ou shit on it. Besides, you don't need to make a Panda.

This, and Sayuri text bold does not give your opinion more weight. The simple fact is warcraft's history and lore is WoW's history and lore, just because Blizzard did not add a race playable or otherwise to WoW does not mean they never existed in the "world" of warcraft. As stated above and has I mentioned Chen a Pandaren is referenced in WoW and even had a quest. You may not like it and decide yourself that they never existed but in canon they did.

Think of it this way, it's kinda like if someone made a Star Wars game and didn't include "every" possible race that existed in the lore on release or even initial expansions. It does "not" mean they don't exist in that game it's just that the developers have not gone around to it, it really is that simple. They exist in lore and therefor exist in the game world even if it is just as text outside of the physical game. There is nothing "comical" going on here, the story is just doing what all stories do evolve (or die).

Oh look, more entitled whining on the forums about SWTOR *feigns surprise*

1) You are NOT entitled to a beta invite.

2) Beta =/= Free Trial

3) There is no open beta.

4) No one but Bioware/EA knows when or how long early access is.

There will be people that disagree but my whole take on this "panda" thing is that people are coming in defense and saying that the "panda" race has existed in WoW lore and have been part of WoW history. Where? I have never seen actually in game any references to the Pandaren race; no NPCs, no traders, no martial art references, no quests, not even any lands that have a trace of Pandaren influence. Abit like the Draenai, they will suddenly just pop out of the sky so to speak but the difference is, and this is what people don't get, they will be the main focus of the future of WoW. Why? Draenai have integrated but have never been the outright focus, and people saying that purple spacegoats look as funny as pandas is just laughable.

WoW has never been about comical relief.  Sure there are gnomes, references to Paris Hilton, motorbikes etc but gnomes were here from the start and I'm sorry to say the Pandaren race does look more like a comical relief than something even slightly fightable. I certainly wouldn't want to fight any, more like share a cup of tea with. They are cute bottom line. Blizzard say they are swaying away from the dark and gloomy environment, but this is going abit over the top. What, so all our struggles against Rag, illidan, Lich King, Deathwing and now we get to chill out with a bunch a fat smiling pandas while they are supposed to teach us the fate of ourselves and Azeroth? What kind of future is that? No thank-you, we survived some serious business before, we don't need to turn our fights and struggles in the past into something comical.

First bare with me, I'm half asleep and will be passing out cold after this. ;-p

Though a bit of googling will answer your questions, Pandaren have been a part of Warcraft lore (heck Chen played a role in Rexxar's travels) and there are traces of them in World of Warcraft.

In World of Warcraft there were little hints of Chen's travels the most popular being the brewmaster questline before Cata:

Heck Bliz even went as far as providing fans with a statue figure of the race in their stores:

The short of is this Samwise originally created them in Warcraft as a joke because his nick name is Panda. However the fans loved it and so the Pandaren were offically brought into the lore with Warcraft 3. Basically they are older then the Turen when it comes to warcraft, as they showed up as easter eggs here and there but became official later on. Now they have one of the deepest lore of the races in Warcraft. So no they are not a joke (though they first picture Samwise made of himself as a Panda was) they are a race in the world of warcraft and some of us are excited that they are finally in the game outside of random quests relating to Chen.

So it's not that Bliz just pull this out their rear and decided to create a race that never existed, they took one of the races they has more of a underground cult following and brought them fully in to WoW where they belong like it or not.

The only reason they were not in WoW from the start was because lore wise it would not make any sense as they were blocked off from the world and known only in stories about those heroes in Azeroth. This is why originally they were going to be introduced in Cata because it allowed for the race to be accessed. Instead though Bliz held off and decided to release whole expansion around them.

As for WoW not being about comical relief, yeah I'll just say I disagree. Warcraft from day one has always been about serious story with comical elements and that has carried on in WoW.

I don't see why people are so negative against this.  I'm only suprised that it took themt his long to add it in.  Pandarens have been in WC lore for a long time.  Every expansion WoW ever had, players always asked where are the Pandarens?  I actually like this alot.  Brewmaster was my favorite hero in WC3.

 Kung Fu Panda's.

Let me repeat..

SWToR is just around the corner and the "Best" Blizzard can offer for the future is...KUNG FU F'ING PANDA'S??!?!

You think this is a good thing??

Actually their best is offering a spot in the next expainsion's beta test and a copy of Diablo III if you sub for a year. In doing this they lower the visual impact games like SWTOR, GW2 and TSW will have on their MMO. There will be alot of people who will jump on it and I admit as someone who left WoW, I stated the only thing that would bring be back was if they "finally" added the Pandarian's and has a Brewmaster class, they have done that and Brewmaster is part of the Monk. Now I said that because I thought they would never add one of the more cult races of their RTS. They teased with easter eggs and April Fools jokes so I didn't think they would ever add them.

With that I ate my hat and I went ahead and sub'd for a year, do I think I will stick around after a month of playing a Pandarian and maxing out... I doubt it but it is the only race I ever wanted in WoW and now they are here and dispite all the hatin' I'm going  to have fun playing them. ;)

disney kungfu panda people should sue em or something...

I honestly would like to see that, then we could watch as Disney fall on their face as they find out that Pandarians have been a part of Warcraft long before the movie Kung-Fu Panda.

In short, nope.

They don't want you to come back and play EVE because as you clearly pointed out you are "not" the target audience.

It's kind of like a hardcore PvP'er saying to the LoTRO community and developers "Want me to come back, well implement open PvP with full looting and permeant death." Yeah instead you might want to look for a game that actually is trying to target you.

Subject says it all, to those of you that are subscribed is the game polished and fun now after these updates?

My opinion is to wait until 2.0, right now all the changes are stepping stones leading to where the game will be. If you want to experience how FFXIV "should" have been on release then that would be 2.0 Square Enix has made that rather clear. If you decide to play it now then expect it to drastically change as it progresses towards 2.0.

Don’t take my word for it, just read the letters sent out to the community and you will see how much work still needs to be done.

From reading some of the comments on the official forums regarding the male Miqo'te I can only hope that Square Enix does not give into those who say they want the males to look like a body builder in a cat suit (i.e. Thundercats). I like the concept art for the male Miqo'te and to me it fits the race perfectly, not to mention it follows what we saw with the male Mithra Lehko Habhoka. The Mithra and Miqo'te are inspired by cats like the Lynx and Serval not lions, the males don't need to look like they are hitting the gym everyday nor do they need to sport huge manes. ;)

I know it's a bit off topic but as someone who has been waiting for the male Miqo'te since it was announced before release that that model existed in game. This is the one thing that kept me from playing FFXIV with any dedication, simply because I knew when they arrived I would be deleting my character (I refuse to pay extra every month for the privilege of having  a second character.)

Overall though I am happy with the progress the team is making and while I will not be subscribing, I will return when the game adds the missing sexes.

Judging by all of the similiarities with WoW:

1) Quest based leveliing with loads of dungeons (Flashpoints) for low lvls.

2) Raids (Operations) as a form of endgame

3) Skill trees being almost the same as wow (2x3 per class as far as I'm aware), points acquired by lvls to spend on

4) PvP organized in form of Battlegrounds (Warfronts)

5) Pretty similiar combat mechanics.

Do you think that SWTOR will turn out to be almost same grinder and treadmill as WoW, with huge emphasis on gear or it will allow all kind of players participate in the endgame (PvP'ers, Crafters, Soloers, Raiders) therefore more "skill" than "gear dependant?

Seeing that the developers have said that it's about gear... yes it will be about gear.

I can only hope that the game engine was tweeked as I remember the horrible laggy AOC sieges.

**Raises plunger in salute to Hot Stygian Tempests of Set ladies everywhere!***

They've described the engine as "Heavily Modified", so hopefully that includes some serious optimization.

And I hope they backport those modifications to AoC as well... though not holding my breath since it's been so long since they announced the graphical upgrade to AO using the AoC engine.

AoC is due for some engine updates, I think they are suppose to arrive this year I'll have to check.

I'm with you one the AO update, though they recently posted new screenshots of the avatar heads so it looks like they didn't for get about it at least. :-p

"Fact confirmed?" More like reaffirmed, they have made it clear for a very long time that the factions would work together but when they got to areas like the center of the world they would resume their fighting. The only difference now is they are saying there are more places to fight than the center of the world.

For a game that lets his players dress up as teletubbies wielding giant carrots for weapons, all the while trying to provide a rather mature background story, I would say this is an improvement. ;-p

Nah that was just a bad Google translation, the servers will reboot on Dec 2012 and there will be the possibility of a character wipe. Nothing we haven't experienced before so I expect about a four to eight hour downtime while the servers are patched.
