Main reason why SWTOR flopped?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/10/12 1:12:40 PM
I chose Space Game, why would star wars have a space game that was a mini game? It should have been something that put even JTL to shame!. Yes the game was a bit to much on rails and would have benefited from a more open world ala SWG, it would have been fun to control a speeder

As you can imagine the hardcore players are the most vocal complainers and it is hard to blame them. On the other hand most mmo's have either F2p (the casuals prefered method) or the Sub model (the hardcores prefered method). so to me it gives you the best of both worlds. I do like Fallen Earths pricing and Aions also. therfore I would love it if TSW went to a Sub-F2P model similar to Fallen Earth |

[Interview] City of Heroes: Farewell to CoH
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 11/01/12 2:37:08 PM
I normally do a lot of soloing in mmo's. But COH really made me turn to groups and guess what it was a great experience. Even PUG seem to fit together seemlessly and if you found the right group it was bliss. the problem with coh is everything looked the same and the crafting was kind of poor especially the first few years. they had a resurgence of sorts when they came out with the villains ex pac but alas it was short lived. Coh is dead, Coh is dead, LONG LIVE COH

Originally posted by Quirhid I have been in Advertising for about 20 years now and I can tell you that if your company does a great job advertising your product or service it can turn lemons into lemonade. That being said if your company is to stay afloat you still have to have a core and continue to build a game that the masses want. Blizzard did this perfectly, they took a look at Everquest, looked at what made it popular and what the masses said they wanted different and pulled out what may be described as a miricle. They placed their game heading directly at the mainstream population, they decided plenty of quests ala Everquest , some exploration and somewhat challenging combat-these made the adults happy. Then they gave their game a cartoonish look to attract the kids. Now why did this not turn off the adults-because the adults had enough to keep them happy and just accepted the cartoonish graphics. What has happened over the last few years is this, WOW has the adults hooked even convincing them the game is not for kids, in the meantime they have done as much as possible to attract kids and teens while knowing they have the adults and their 9 alts maxed to the guilds hooked. Brilliant, Brilliant strategy, I bow down to the Advertisers and marketers of Blizzard |

I dont mind people expressing their opinion , what I hate is when people show no objectivity or pretend as if they are speaking for the entire World instead of themselves

Are People Still Playing? and Other Thoughts
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 10/26/12 4:30:06 PM
Originally posted by Ecnali I certainly understand your feelings of Burnout, it is tough for me to play a mmo for longer than 3 months without getting bored. I think one thing led you astray, Most people who like Tor like it for its Story, Quests, Production value and some like it for its PvP. Most do not play Tor for its crafting, or housing. those things are certainly serviceable along with the space game but they do not stand out. I think if Tor could add an excellent space game and open the World up a bit it would be fantastic |

This is the right forum for non mmo games! Yes this is an excellent game, love the story telling, graphics are ok but good enough, same with controls. I do not like the fact that on PC you only get one episode a month but I can live with it. I think there is an episode 6 coming out also

Will you return to SW:TOR?

Will you return to SW:TOR?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 10/25/12 12:20:37 PM
Of course I will be returning , it will be F2P what a silly question. I play 2 mmo's at a time and I spend about 10-15 hrs a week playing so SWTOR is a great game to play. Since story line, lore and production values are important to me, will I be returning? As a failed Vice Presidental candidate once said "you betcha"

Originally posted by Khaeros I currently play Vanguard, both Lotro and Vanguard are good games, i find there are more things to do in Vanguard, Crafting is better and diplomacy is a nice change. Vanguard has a more open world. But both are good and I advise the op to try both as they are "F2P" |

I would appreciate a guest pass as I love shooting zombie and PvP games, thank you in advance, PM me please

I keep returning to Vanguard, yes its hitching is annoying but its game play is so sweet. On the single player side I keep returning to old games like BG and BG2 along with Vampire bloodlines. The classics

It's sad, but I can't think of a single good Sci-Fi MMO that's not about spaceships.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 10/22/12 3:40:28 PM
TSW certainly has sci fi aspects, and SWTOR has such a bad space game that it could qualify for your no space game desire, but the rest of the game is good

you could try heroes 5 or 6, turn based combat with rpg elements especially in 6. If you want to play the Greatest RPG of all time and do not have to depend on combat than play Planescape Torment-terrific dialog and many ways to advance
