[Column] Star Wars: The Old Republic: Chatting SWTOR F2P with Blaine Christine
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 11/21/12 10:13:36 AM
The one think I do not like is that preferred and free players get less experience, that will throw off the balance of the game and make people have to grind more defeating the purpose of a story driven mmo

Star Wars: The Old Republic: F2P Option Launches Today
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 11/21/12 10:00:54 AM
Originally posted by Ozmodan I cannot speak for anyone else ( although many people who post claim to speak for everyone) but what I want is more story, cut scenes, more combat, better space game, crafting a bit more usefull. If the next expansion concentrated on these I would be happy. I understand you have the PvPeers so that has to be in the next expak also |

the only problem i have with TOR F2P is the reduced experience, that could throw off the balance of the game or force you to do boring grinding

I think it depends on what you are looking for, if it is just max quickbars for all your characters that cost about 10 bucks, if it is many more items it may be worth it to sub

Why is Everyone who purchased the game, so upset with FTP?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/18/12 12:04:32 PM
Well I for one am having great fun revisiting TOR, and its F2P, as someone who subd before, I get 4 character slots, more money, bigger inventory space and basically all the things I need. It is like putting on those old comfortable slippers, they fit perfectly and feel great to walk around in. Thank you EA for getting me back to the fun of playing the bad guy with all the wonderfull explosions and animations , not to mention production and story.

Why is Everyone who purchased the game, so upset with FTP?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/17/12 2:20:20 PM
Originally posted by XeoMatrix00 Meh I bought GW2 and well it is not a bad game, it is a game I would never sub for, (if they had a sub) I find it a bit boring. I do not think TOR is a "free trial extended" game, that type of game would be Tera or AOC. The people who will play and enjoy TOR play it for the story and production values not to level super fast. For some people just buying a few items in the cartel shop will be enough for others they will sub , but the people who will enjoy the game like story, production and animations etc |

Amazingly there are still people who think F2P means that the game is completely free. I think we all need to realize that F2P is great for casual players, but for everyone else it is a great way to try out the game or in the case of Tor a great way to bring your alts up to max level. The only think I am worried about being a preferred player is the reduced exp-as that could throw off the balance of the game

should i buy cartel coins or should i buy subscription?
Questions & Answers « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/16/12 8:28:58 PM
I think if you are a casual player and TOR is a great casual player game, I would just buy Cartel coins, although you may want to sub for one month to get preferred status. Play for free for a bit , get used to the feel of the game, and if you find yourself wanting to buy a huge amount of Cartel coins just sub

Downloading as we speak, very excited to get back to the mmo with the best story line, and F2P is great for medium core players

General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/12/12 5:34:21 PM
Originally posted by Ahnog Agreed and that is why I liked it. Others were expecting SWG2, we see a backlash from mmorpg posters because prob 70% are hard core players and TOR was made for more casual players which is why F2P should be a huge success |

Yea you might have to go into the Vanguard folder and try different launch options, I hope you do not have to re install because that is a major pain
