I am 39, and OP you must not have very high standards for pvp if you get amazed about honor points.  I also like the fact you say that small guilds or solo's can't make it to Freedrech Island because of the "hundreds" of people camping it, /laugh.  I like the game, I play it.  I have over 500 kills now in open world and around 4k honor.  I have all classes but 2 to 50 (Archmaster Title here I come!)  and I spend more time on the game daily then most....

That said.  The ONLY reason I do is because there is no better option out there, not because Archeage is a great game.  Because it isn't.  The amount of hacks, bugs and lag is tremendous, the pvp system is poorly thought out, for example, PK attacks you first, you respond and put a dot on him, PK WHILE IN PK MODE runs to a FACTION guard and YOU get killed because your dot is the first bit of aggression the npc see's.  Want to use your cool new stun break?  Awesome, now when you press the button hope you don't get 2 second skill lag then end up fried because in reality you were dead before you even saw the skill hit.

Want to do Arena's?  Sure have fun as you deal with people who lag out so your skills report they aren't facing the right way, one shot kill hacks, speed hacks, repeatable teleport before timer is up hack (No, not passived blink from auramancy) Want land?  Too bad!  Hackers now control the majority of all land that is being freed up from timers expiring.  So while I enjoy the game because there isn't anything else out there as soon as something even half decent develops Archeage population is going to die out like the plague and then they will wish they had pushed XL harder to fix these issues quicker.

Want help from Customer Service?  Wait 2 weeks for a response of "Do you still want help?" then wait another week after multiple emails, tweets to Scapes and Trion, and updating the ticket saying you need help still... then they will tell you they don't have the ability to look into the issue you are having and that they need to contact XL Games (Seem like a reocurring excuse, if if they aren't blaming DDoS attacks, they blame XL Games)

So yea, if they fix the issues it might be a great game then, which they won't since they are still in EVERY single territory from Korea, Japan, Russia to NA none of the major hacks or bugs have been fixed and I am slowly losing the interest even with the fact this game is the only thing out there worth playing.. It is fast becoming a point where I would rather eat dirt and wait for EQN to hope they don't fuck up that title then play this shit infested game anymore.

I'm too busy with real life right now.

But these forums needed another spam about this to gum up the "recent threads" list, so I feel obligated to post this one, since it seems that everyone who has played AA and not stuck with it needs to tell the world.  It is mandatory to post why you are no longer playing right?  And even why you never even played in the first place?

yea you have never played, and surely not a fanboi, that's why you sound so bitter people don't like it.

A recent post the  CM threatened bans on anyone found to be sitting on benches in court or sleeping in a bed.  Apparently these mechanisms (which are built into the game) prevent their autokick for AFK feature.

This threat seems ludicrous to me.  They specifically coded these features to KEEP people in game and then will ban players for using those features.  It's not as though someone found a bizarre and unintended exploit.  These items are MADE to keep people from getting AFK kicked...

The problem is that the game was designed for Korea and the goal was to KEEP PLAYERS in game.  The same way the labor rewards you with a higher regen for being in game.  Threatening bans seems beyond ridiculous for sitting on a bench or sleeping in a bed.  Simply login at any time and you will be flooded with GoldSeller spam... maybe they could ban those guys, or the bots, or the guys with teleport hacks, or the guys that used 3rd party programs to buy all the land...

They didn't create these features for you to afk as much as you want.

So much derp going on in this person's thought process.

While this does just seem to be another "OMFG XL/TRION SO ABSOLUTELY SUCKS LAWLERSKATES" post on the surface, I actually think the OP makes an excellent point.

XL designed a labor system that encourages players to be online more then they would otherwise want to be. Then they also added the game mechanics such as chairs, beds, and combat dummies that negate their very own AFK exploit fighting system. While I personally have no love for exploiters, this is XL's mess to fix. And they should be held responsible by their player base until a proper fix is added to the game.

none of this matters, they were created for RP or for buffs related to crafting not to be used to circumvent the AFK system that WAS put in place to stop people from AFK labor gaining, Labor gains online are a benefit for those players who PLAY the game, not log out on a bench.

Its the same exact reason you will get banned for fighting mobs on a piece of land that the mob can't reach you from.

Hasla isn't bad but it could be better.

It needs to be larger. the other zones are empty because everyone is in Hasla all the time.

OR the weapon needs to be nerfed to make Hasla an option but not THE option, which won't happen.

I think this is a population issue and will calm down a bit later; so I am optimistic that Hasla is not all it could be right now. I think AA has some growing pains with everyone progressing at the same pace and hitting the same milestones at the roughly the same time.

Three things, for everyone to ponder:

This game isn't new.  It's been out a couple years in multiple territories.

This grind isn't really a grind.  You can complete a weapon in a group who rolls for need and only allows one roll per token within one day if you can devote a few hours, if not, it might take 2 or 3 days at the MOST.  That isn't even close to a grind.

The issues that are here today with quest flow, bots, cheating, hacking are all present and have been present in previous territories release of Archeage and are still here today in NA.  These issues are not related to growing pains, this game has had almost 2 years now to "fix" the issues related to growing.

If you are enjoying the game today and can live with the issues you might have, or have not had, you will enjoy the game in a month or two.  Don't expect major issues there.  But if issues like mine, that require CSR involvement or your issues are related to bots or spam you will be upset.  Don't wait around expecting a fix.  They do content updates, they don't fix major issues.  If people are ok with that I am not judging, but after playing Korea, RU and now NA to 50 with lots of time invested I am seeing the same issues I have seen in every other release and have YET to be fixed.  Hasla right now is the best weapon you can realistically get unless you have extreme RNG luck or 10's of thousands of golds.  It has been this way always.

as for the pvp - I have near 400 kills now in Hasla.  Much fun.  I just wish more easties on my server would help fight against the over populated west, but on Enla most of the time easties just hang out at the respawn twiddling their thumbs.

Well a lot of plots that were claimed during the Archeage headstart now have their taxes due and are becoming available. There are over 40+ players milling around these expiring plots hoping to claim the land (highlighting the drastic shortage of land availability).

The AA forums are in uproar because there are a few players using some in game hack which allows them to claim the land before anyone else. One player has reportedly claimed 10 plots using this hack despite numerous people simultaneously trying to get them.

Add to this the teleport trade hack, the AH sniper hack, the endless sea of bots etc, this makes the game almost unplayable for the legitimate player. Disappointingly, players from alpha tell us these hacks were known back then and Trion either were unable or unwilling to fix them.

Nothing will kill a game faster than hackers/exploiters, this needs to be priority one issue for Trion.

Ugh, these problems were known in Korea before RU/JP/Chinese launch and are still present in every single region.

These problems are never getting fixed.

simple ground rules for archeage to help those too lazy to look up game mechanics for themselves.

1)  Don't trade packs across ocean if you don't want to get ganked, stay in safe zones.

2)  Quest during the 2-3 hours of peacetime each pvp zone has during war cycles,  Farm during conflicts/war.

3)  Don't trust anyone.  If someone on the street walked up to you and said "Hey, carry this bag on the plane for me I promise there isn't a bomb in it!"  Would you be like "OH YEA!! OF course I trust you!!"

/shakes head, why do you people want to turn every single game into the same boring, snooze fest of care bear and safety.  The game works fine the way it is because they have ways for those care bears to advance in the game without ever having to pvp and yet you STILL come here and whine about pvp.  Sad Really.  You know what I do when I get jumped by multiple people?  Ask my guild for help.  If they are busy, I ask in shout, if no response,  I craft until the group moves on to someplace else.  What I don't do is come here and whine about it in hopes that every game created is specific to only what I like..

Now if you want to complain about Trion being a money grabbing whore of a company, fine lets discuss that because there is some merit to that discussion.  I have played to 50 in Korea (before 55 patch), and 50 to RU before NA.  Neither one of those markets felt as purposely edited to make the money shop as important as it is in Trions version, THAT should be a reason you stay away from the game I could agree with... not the pvp system you refuse to learn to stay safe in.

I'm excited because I love pvp, I love open world pvp, and I really like the top down perspective they have in game.
I'm not even a "hater" and EQN was one of the only games besides Black Desert I was really even interested in but honestly this game just fell off my radar unless the NPC's are damn near realistic AI levels of interaction.  Not very impressed with anything Ive seen so far.  /shrug.  I still hold out hope, but I dunno my interest level just went from Full bore to non existent.

Website is very slow

some people can't connect to their glyph..

server being hammered? and shutt down and open again? crashing?

they should know how many people could be hammering website and gameservers right? with the controlled beta keys giving away?

I wonder how launch will be lol

* waiting with patience*

OMG, cancel the game...there are bugs in the freshly launched beta!  This is nuts!

OMG, don't post anything related to archeage that might make it sound even remotely like its having problems, even if you aren't complaining!  THIS IS NUTS!

Give me a break, the guy never said one negative thing about Archeage in this thread.  He was commenting on an mmo forum *GASP* I KNOW! RIGHT? The nerve?!*GASP* about a game in beta having issues, and even states he is waiting with patience for them to come back up.

If anyone can pm me a PS3 key I would greatly appreciate it.

Why do so many people on these forums hate quests?

Every other medium has quests: books, movies. Think about the plot of a movie is generally a character(s) going on a series of quests/missions. How boring would a story be if it was just about heroes roaming around randomly occasionally whacking a random enemies.

I just don't get the hatred of quests or even quest hubs... they make sense.... they just friggin' make sense. Also, I don't know of any MMORPG where you can't ignore the quests, so just ignore them.

Interesting, I guess because I have never and will never like a "story" from a movie, or book that only talks about going out and fetching ten plants, then going and killing ten rats.  Maybe if I was starting out early in the story fine.  IF the movie is the same scene of a person killing rats, or picking up trash, just in a different background each time with bigger rats, or if the character in a book was always doing the same 5 tasks just in a different setting, sorry but I wouldn't watch or read those books either.

99% (Made up statistics!) of "stories" in the quest lines aren't stories.  I think for in-depth story telling, you need actual authors to write the story not studio directors, artists or your average everyday developers who have never written a story in their life.

I like stories, but lets not kid ourselves, mmo quests are not interesting stories they are mini games to access and ding the reward pleasure zones of your brain to keep you playing.

I'm sure he never sets out to screw people over. He's probably full of good intentions at the beginning. He's become such a villain in the mmo world because of how he acts and treats others once the ship springs a leak.

But isn't that when you really get to see someones true character ?

When the ship sprang a leak (that is, when Microsoft changed CEOs and the new one had no interest in making an MMO, and cut Sigil loose), he spent 6 months pitching the ship to about 60 different repairmen, and only one stepped up, and offered about 40 planks of wood when the ship needed about 100 to float.

He deserves everything he gets. Sorry sack of nothing. I feel sorry for anyone who gives him money.

You've got to wonder what someone died to get this kind of reaction, so many years after the fact. The man basically invented the modern MMO, so saying he can't execute his ideas is just stupid. Especially considering most people loved the gameplay in Vanguard, and only stopped playing due to engine issues or lack of development.

Sigil was, without a doubt, mismanaged. But the odd thing is, most big studios have been mismanaged since 2004, and Brad has since gone on record about a dozen different times, going into detail about what went wrong, what the mistakes were, and how he plans to fix them, yet everyone acts as if he's learned nothing and that he sabotaged his own ship.

And then there's the moronic rumor started by a fucking Vanguard fansite admin, that he has a drug addiction. No basis, no facts, not a single person backed it up, and yet the rumor flies around at the speed of sound.

So the answer, why is he villainized? Because people want him to be, in spite of the actual facts of evidence.

Exactly and when I ask people to provide links to proof of these claims, what do they do?

Post a link to an article from some unknown website that is basing its info off ANOTHER Un-named website.

Even with the recent Pantheon debacle, the developer that went on KTAM Radio said he had statistics, charts, graphs, etc proving that Brad stole nearly 65k and not 40k. Yet he never provided the graphs or any other info and hasnt been heard of since.

On top of that, What is KTAM, its a website with roughly 40 members, a radio show that gets 100 hits max a week, yet everyone is so ready to accept that Brad stole the 40k because a guy with no actual proof went onto that J-List Website and said he did.

Its like you said, people just want to hate him, thats all there is to it.

and it is like you just want to like him, and that is all there is to it.

Let me guess, you supported Patheon, and now you want to feel good about the fact?  Gotcha!

Just what I always wanted bungie, to pay for DLC/Content additions BEFORE THE GAME is even out!

Fuck this industry.  Seriously.  I grew tired of working in the bullshit so I changed careers, now I am at the point where the companies in this market are fleecing people so bad, I don't even want to play their shit games anymore either.  Too many other things in life to interest me, I give up I guess.  Fuck you bungie, and every single person that is ok with it.

I haven't gone through the 5 pages of text, but I read some and I'll replay to those. Anyone here who said "it's consumer, players fault and so forth is death wrong.

The old saying goes "it's nobody elses fault but your own for your own failure of your creation". Those who try to find blame on someone else for their failure is the main reason why they will never be successful.

The market does not exist for the game until the game is created. If the creation is successful the market will flood to it automatically and naturally. It's people thinking that the market is not there, people are not going to buy my product so I'm afraid to invest is one of the reasons. If you are too afraid, too scared you should probably just stick to your capabilities and deliver games for certain audience with certain scale.

Let the big boys come over and take over the rest of the market. The ones who understand that you can't get apples until you dig a hole, plant the seed and nurture it over the years. If you look at many well known MMORPG companies, you see them developing multiple MMORPG's simultaniously while their current ones are failing apart because that's what they choose to do and I'll continue to choose to avoid companies with such reputation.

World of Wacraft has went downhill too for good and bad. It's most evident in the amount of $ they invest in other project beside their primary cash cow and imo it was their huge mistake. Starcraft II, Diablo 3, Hearthstone and now some "WOW movie.

Alexander the Great once conquered Europe, Asia, Africa, but he quickly lost it all cuz he spread on too many places while being uncapable to rule over what he already had. I just feel sad for gamers in general who have to find other, more old fashioned ways to entertain themself. We clearly are going backward in time.

Just think about it if you were thrown in a world with just monkies who would know nothing to do but make loud screams through the nights, what would you do? Scream with them or create something on your own to entertain yourself?

You are a crack up.  You tell us that players aren't the issue then go on to say that game developers don't innovate because "if there is no market for your ideas then you will develop a game that the market will bear"  So you basically just repeated what everyone else said that you were disagreeing with to prove you were right, and tried to sound pseudo intellectual while doing so meanwhile in the end failing at both.

GG I guess.

Because of consumers.  When you try to innovate you are met with customers who complain, whine and froth at the mouth.  Anytime you suggest something new, albeit a new open world pvp system, non pvp'rs whine.  When you add themepark features, sandpark lovers whine, when you add sandpark features themeparkers whine.

So bottom line?

So what do companies who are in the business of making money do?  Go with what makes the most money.  What makes the most money?  Rehashed ideas people feel comfortable with.  Its why politics has become such a mess, complacency trumps uncomfortability in all situations now in Human life.  Why slave over a new idea or IP if the masses are going to shit on it every chance they get, when you can release the same basic shit from last year with a few minor upgrades and people eat it alive like its the last supper.  I know its why I quit working in the industry after a very nice tenure at SCE.  It's too frustrating trying to make people happy who will never be so, while the money you are paid on top of the hours you have to work to get anywhere in the damn industry is insane.  (I averaged 80-100 hours a week in first party).

What!? This is the game that Smed was talking about when he mentioned "a new home for SWG fans"?

Wow! When I first heard about this game, I thought they were a bit late, as the whole Zombie / Undead fad is nearly over. I mean...  it's like some chick waking up today and wanting to purchase a "New Moon" T-shirt.

Yes.  What he meant wasn't another Scifi IP, or Star Wars IP, he meant a game based on the same basic design ideas that made SWG what it was.  I won't try to speak for most of the players, but I only know of a couple people in my guild on starsider that only played the game because it was star wars IP.  Majority of players played longer then average because they loved the systems in place that allowed the things that made swg be great.  It wasn't the lightsabers or blaster pistols I will tell you that! =D

I'm getting burned out hearing about a game that will be f2p but in the meantime is $150 for alpha. I suggest you launch the game already, especially since the game has already launched elsewhere.

Cause someone needs to translate code, text, sound, voice over for starters. That's why it's still in alpha. Yes, the game launched in Korea but it was made in Korea, go figure. Also, seeing as I know it's been discussed to death over the past month, alpha access did not cost $150, but since you obviously you weren't aware, let me clear things up for you. Alpha is actually about $30, but I'm sure you'll scratch your head trying to figure that one out.

Alpha is only 30 dollars if you planned on buying in the cash shop all the items and store credits they gave you.  But here is another thing no one likes to mention about that package, they haven't fully decided if they are going the RU route and letting players buy subs from the cash shop with cash shop money they are thinking about *(unless this changed in the last week or two)* making subs only paid for with ingame gold or real money.

I would agree with you, if they let you spend those tokens on ingame time.  But they don't.  And as a long time Archeage Player in multiple other territories there isn't anything in the cash shop I really want and would rather they did it like RU where I can spend those cash shop tokens on gametime.

The reason its different is because in EVE you have good reason to attack other players, ITS FULL LOOT for shit that doesn't get blown up in the explosion.  AA = No rewards except grinding honor points during the ONE stage that it garners them for pvp (Full out war).  None of the other "war enabled" times give you honor and the shit you can buy with honor is meh unless you are buying the primary weapon enchant.   Some might even be happy with "trade pack" drops as the primary reason to pvp, but with land control meaning shit all in the grand scheme of things for guilds, the sieges are quickly going to lose their interest just like in GW2 pvp zones.  The benefits aren't worth the hassle.

This game is going to fail at end game because they are trying to ride the middle, not being a hardcore sandbox pvp game like eve, or being a hardcore themeparker like WoW.  They are trying to cater to everyone and in the end, no one will be happy.  Granted you can't call the future with 100% possibility, but after having a lvl 50 in Korea, and 2 50's in RU (Total Invasion, castle owning Russian pvp guild) and being an ex eve pirate (SNIGG, why did you become PL!  I miss pirating!) I found the pvp to be lackluster beyond belief.  There isn't the same drive of taking space because there is no reason to own a castle past bragging rights.  In eve having a station was a tactical and financial advantage and each sector had different pluses and minuses to it for owning in that area.

Basically, Archeage engame siege PVP = wintergrasp on a week long timer.

That said, I did enjoy farming.  I did enjoy crafting.

I gues you havent made the most expensive trade packs and try to deliver them across the open sea....alone or in groups.....
Where pirates awaits its prey for an easy target.
it reminds me more of Eve Online then any other mmo on the market.

But why argue with someone who thinks endgame is shit when its the players that makes endgame.
You sir can go back to your mmo if you even have one while we create our own game within a game.

try reading the post then responding instead of skimming you won't look so stupid with such a biased, blanketed reply.  The fact that you are trying to "rip" me by saying I never have made tradepacks shows you didn't even bother to read past the first sentence of my post.  Trade route pirating is fun for about 2-3 weeks.  Then it gets old.

Wow... so many MMO players that don't know what a tech demo is.

Now I agree Brad is a crook and I will not give him a dime until the game is released and getting awesome reviews, but criticizing animations in a tech demo is like saying a movie work print has bad special effects. Get it together guys.

The fact you are willing to give a crook money because he gives you something in return kinda says a lot about you as a person.  Just saying.  The dude stole money from people that were supposed to be his team/coworkers.  I mean come on man.  Get it together guy.

You're focusing on the wrong part of the post. Also, Brad isn't the only person working on the game. He didn't steal money from anyone, he took it from donated money. What that money was meant for or how it was used is beyond my knowledge. Do you know what Brad spent it on, all we know is he took it. Like I said, I will pay for a solid game, but I will not pay for possibilities.

No I'm not.  I am focusing on the fact that you would pay money for a game, regardless of how well it was made when you know the guy who made it ripped off his dev team, paying them 2k for 6 months work while pocketing 40k of donated money for himself.  I know for someone like you, you don't care since it wasn't your kids that were affected.. but I sure as hell won't be supporting a crook who was supporting his pill habit with crowd sourcing funding for a game while leaving his team out to dry financially.

The day we stop letting crooks like Brad, and Derek Smith, guys who are just here to turn a quick buck and increase their ego is the day we see a change in our games.  We will NEVER see our genre go above and beyond the garbage they are putting out today if we don't weed out the shady people doing shady things.
