Mmorpg gets me fired and makes me out to look like a racist at my job
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 8/01/09 11:54:31 PM
Originally posted by Cyborg99 Anyways back on topic, do as Haratu stated, get mediated with the offended and have your boss or manager be present. During this time, explain to the offended you were merely singing a song with references taken from an online game and did not mean to reference anything culturally or religiously to offend him. If your boss/supervisor agrees and whatnot there would really be no point in hiring a lawyer, unless you don't want to keep your job? :P |

Sounds like my trip to Malawi, Africa. But yeah, lots of MMOs are like this, even have huge sections on their websites to advertise the shops to new players |

I apologize if I state anything already mentioned, but just my views on F2P. I started my game life on an F2P MMO, RuneScape, so I owe F2P otherwise I would still be playing FPS 24/7. But anyways, now-a-days most if not all F2P games out there have a built in "Cash Shop" function. These Cash-Shops have really stupid scale factors, you actually end up paying more for the company's cash than you would playing a subscription. Another thing I dont like about F2P is the really horrible work that goes into making it. I can list atleast 10, possibly more, games off the top of my head that if analyzed fully could be considered exact copies of each other. Just some things that ALOT of F2Ps have in common: Character creation - Choose male/female, choose Face 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 (Sometimes they're alpabetical ;o), choose Hair style 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 A really horrible, if any, tutorial for newbies or people who have never played an MMO in their life. Class - (this is sometimes in character creation) at X level go to Y and do Z quest to achieve Q title. Either way its always that cheap heroic melee sword class, a magic user, an assassin or "dark arts" user, and sometimes a healer. Click-and-Move - Seriously, at least 90% of the F2Ps I've played have been click and move, it's not entirely bad but that's like taking DO Online and adding better graphics then calling it Martial Heroes, it's only making every game the same. Just some of the extremely common factors of F2P that have made me dislike F2P MMOs, I admit there are several good ones out and about but the vast majority are them are a company's excuse to get more money via cash shops. and btw.. "free2play cashshpop to win right? well monthly is buy ingame currency to win." Not everyone buy's ingame currency. |

Have you ever bought anything virtual online in a MMORPG?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/31/09 4:24:16 AM
I've never bought anything in-game, I really disaprove of "Cash Shops" offered in basically every F2P MMO out there. I don't like some newbie having an advantage over me because he spent five bucks on a massively OP equip. However, I shamefully admit that on more than one occasion I have considered purchasing credits/gold. Never did, although I know several people who did and shared... Does that make me evil?? |

My preferred playing style is soloing. I'm not the uberest player in the game, but I know what I'm doing and I know what I have to do to continue forward. In most, if not all, games I've played, XP is divided when partying. I don't want to give a % of earned experience to some jackass who stands by and leeches off the party mass-kills, and I don't want to be slowed down by "Sec gotta xxx". I admit, I plow through some games, but that's just because I want to reach end game.. I'm in no way against grouping, but if I'm in a group that group better be able to progress as fast as I can, or even faster. I'm not for removing the best gear for the raiders, since I too want to raid, but at the end game and with players that will take it seriously. I've played a couple of games where you could only progress through teaming (Anarchy Online, Legend of Mir 3), and being a soloer, I never reached end game on either of those two. Not being end-game, I can't enjoy the content of raids and such, and can't enjoy all the new content brought with patches aimed at end game. But this is just me, I'm well aware that my views on Solo/Group differ according to everyone's playing style. |

What are your top 5 MMO must-haves?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/30/09 8:14:33 PM
My 5 MMO Musts are: Community - Logging on every day without having any interactions at all with the thousands of people around you is kinda... Depressing? I like games where the community is social, active, friendly and helpful. And most importantly, alive. PvE Content - I like games where the next leveling zone isnt exactly the same as the other one. With entirely different mobs, not just the same vectors with a different skin (OH LOOK THIS ONE HAS RED ARMORZ KEEL). Also, on the subject of leveling zones, I like being able to choose where I go, instead of having the cheap leveling roads like alot of games I've previously played. Also, since it kind of conects with PvE content, quests; these quests should reward a reasonable amount of xp and/or funds. On the note of PvP, I liked what warcraft did with various battlegrounds, although this eventually became routine, it was fun having the choice of what you wanted to do. Aside from battlegrounds far away from the safety of cities, I really like being able to take the fight to the enemy's doorsteps :). Death penalties and PvP gains are really of no importance to me. Storyline and Lore - Although every game is a grind, I like it to be an interesting grind. I don't want to do "Kill xxx" quests for no reason all the way until end game. Need's some sort of connection to it all. Also the scenery must catch my eye, and me unique and different with each zone, and all of this in the end must bind to a giant impossible to finish end-game thing. Kinda like how Warcraft does Lich King and Guild Wars does the whole Role-Playing characters. Otherwise I just quit, since i lose interest really fast... Solo friendly - My prefered playing style is solo, only teaming when I really can't do something solo. It would suck to hit a dead end in a game just because I can't get a team. Obviously raiding for phats is different, I would love to do that, but having to do a team to kill some field mobs for a 1% drop chance on an item is weak. Customization - I loved SWG for being able to customize every single thing about your character's apperance, and i loved Anarchy Online for being able to customize all your skill points. I dislike having 3 sets of hair styles, faces, and classes to choose from. (Although sometimes I continue to play eitherway.) And I dislike having 4 skills to input new skill points into (Str, Dex, Vit, Int). Gimmie some choice! All in no particular order :) |

Out of the choices I would have to pick WoW (Yes, hate me :[ ) for my own reasons. But if I could nominate a game, I would elect Anarchy Online pre-LE. Twinking on AO is actually challenging and interesting, and land control is fun back when lot's of people came to defend. Now with LE the most fun of PvP is just battlestations, but ... That can be ... Kind of fun...... But yeah. |

u cant swim, run off ledges, or jump yet... but... ITS STILL FREAKING AWESOME AND INCREDIBLY ADDICTIVE!! this game is an MMORPG, take a look at the millions of people playing? isnt that what it means? *MASSIVE* *MULTI*player *ONLINE* *ROLE PLAYING GAME* , the only difference in this is when u go to a combat field (with the except of having another player in ur team or a GvG... AvA... and the sorts) u get ur one 'zone' to fight in, meaning its just u, ur team, and the enemy.
