Don't be supprised if you have to play at all. Pay your sub come back in 6m and your chars full Glad :p

It is simply the best MMO for graphics currently out there. I think there may be a couple of MMOs that are not in the west yet that better TESO but until they come out TESO rules graphically.

With max settings the grass and tree leaves are 2d. When you rotate your char they rotate to face you. Many games have better graphics than ESO even Rift has proper grass.

For the sake of argument, let's say I'm a level 20 what have you, and I spend 40 smackers on 2 credds. I then sell them in game for 4 plat. I then use that money to buy crafted gear that is ridiculously priced (due to the ability to buy in game gold) that a normal player, who's not buying gold can't afford. I then start to distroy folks in pvp because of my full set of nice crafted gear that I basically paid real money for...  You guys can fight it all you want. It CLEARY puts those who spend extra REAL money at an advantage. I've seen this happen before. I don't have to prove this to you as you will experience it first hand. Enjoy.

Low level twinking happens anyway even in games where ppl can't buy currency thru some means so your point is irrelevant. Besides, those players could get the gear it just takes longer that is all. Your point boils down to defeating time sync's not skill.

You do not understand what pay to win means.

Please, enlighten me then but wait I think you'll say "pay to win" is when the player gains significant advantage against another through buying more powerful items. If that's the case I disagree with you. If the game design/endgame is based around COLLECTING and using expensive RARE items for show off or simply gaining some extra feat/achievement is considered Pay to Win in my book.

That dimishes the point of collecting in first play, thus making the experience unfun, unrewarding and pointless. Also every single item that will require ingame currency to obtain basically can be obtained easily for $ and it won't be just about obtaining items it will be about a lot of other things.

For instance I can easily bring most players I want in my guild for the right sum (which means bringing players from other guilds as well). You'll be surprised what players are willing to do for free currency.

Pay to win refers to paying to defeat something that requires SKILL. Paying to defeat time sync's such as COLLECTING is not defeating any skill. It's always the same, ppl with copious amounts of time to sync hate others being able to use thier money to short circuit them. I bet you complain about the guy that pays a cleaner to clean his house while he gets a golf lesson and gets "ahead" of you. Why do you think sync'ing all your time away is some type of skillfull achievement? It's probably because it's your only option.

The only "point" of collecting to to sync subs out of ppl.

Maybe if developers changed MMO's from a grind fest to that of entertainment and skill then there wouldn't be a market for gold sellers. The notion of drip feeding players ground hog day menial content in an attempt to prolong a subscription needs to die.

Had some trouble capturing all windows in WS. As a guide:

Wildstar (Max settings)

FPS 45 (looking into city to tax system)

CPU i7 @ 4.5GHZ (25,25,25,10,75,0,75,0)%

GPU EVGA GTX780 TI (Usage 65%, GPU 1500MHz, Memory 3500MHz, @ 65 deg C)

ASUS 144MHz monitor (@ 144Mhz)

16GB Memory (usage 6.5GB)

2x SSD in Raid 0

The game doesn't utilise my system at max settings.

the OP lost me when he said "tab-targeting"...

WildStar does NOT have tab targeting, which is one of the reasons I love the game. Everything must be aimed.

Wildstar is infact tab target, The only difference is every ability is an aoe to disguise it.

Go load up wow, Get a mage and start spaming arcane nova. -> wildstar combat.

Wildstar combat is a compromise between those fools that want some sort of feel (there's no comparison to aiming in a FPS with 15ms latency compared to an MMO with 300mms) for aiming and the tab target people. The ability widths are just there to account for peoples latency provided the person can hit a barn door with a shotgun.

I haven't died at all on 4 chars (L8+) so far so I hope it gets harder. If they are going to telegraph abilities then failing should be terminal.
They sent me a beta key via email and I enjoyed the weekend. The next weekend I was told I had to go beg a key from one of the many gaming review sites. They lost me at stupid.
The whole pretence of MMO PvP is to out level, out gear or out number your opponent. Skill is far down the list and it is purposely designed that way so that people who could never get a kill in a skill based 1v1 PvP game have a home. Its basically the Lion v the Hyena's scenario. There are some great gamers at the elite PvP level but all the rest are just Hyena's doing what Hyena's do.

For anyone who was wondering, for the first time ever I have had a paypal dispute decided in favor of the seller. This is unprecedented, because as far as "product missing parts or not as advertised" claims go, this is by far the most blatantly broken piece of trash I have purchased. Sadly, Zenimax has lobbied paypal, and doesn't even respond to their emails anymore, giving paypal sole deliberation.

I got a refund on exactly the same grounds in the UK.

What I did was:

A) Contact Zenimax directly.
B) Cite the specific clauses in consumer rights legislation in the UK (Sales of Goods Act and Statutory Rights). You will need to tailor this to your specific region. I have no idea what the relevant state or federal laws are covering this area, but there should be something prescribing some level of protection to consumers in such circumstances.
C) Highlight specific problems and issues I was having with the game that would class it as a faulty product (at the time that I asked for the refund). I was very careful to state that the refund request was based on the state of the product at the time of the request and not subject to patches or updates after this time that fixed the issues that I was having.
D) Uninstall all game files at the time of the request. I did not log into the game at all after I sent the request, so they could not cite access logs against me as "proof of usage".

48 hours later I received a full refund.

Did exactly the same from Aus. Zenimax's terms force customers to rescind their rights everywhere except in a few countries that laws don't allow it - USA not being one of them. First game I've ever sort a refund in over 20 years of gaming.

Carmack is one of the most fair and honourable people around - that allegation is a joke. Back in his idSoftware days (before Zenimax owned them) he used to charge for games to a certain profitability level and then make them free after which he would release the source code. No person or Company has ever done that since. Everyone nowadays bleeds the customer out.
The overwhelming number of people that play MMO's for PvP are people who are terrible at 1v1 aiming type PvP. This is because at some point they can at least get a kill even if it is thru out levelling, out gearing or out numbering their opponent. Bads gotta have a home too.
The problem is at this stage of the 10+ year life of MMO's there are literally millions of gamers looking for the next major innovation step. For whatever reason this just hasn't been coming and in fact releases of late are either essentially the same or a step back in some way. In general, when something new is released people want it to be better and when it has aspects that are a backwards step its going to get brutalised. World zoning isn't a step forward, Guild auction houses isn't a step forward, awkward UI / interface isn't a step forward, poor animation isn't a step forward and it goes on. It isn't hate its just what it is and it could of been better.
One of the benefits of age is you learn not to waste so much time and energy sweating the small stuff. I couldn't even list or cost my incidental expenses let alone spend copious amounts of time / energy debating their value or morality/ideology.

Don't blame it on gold buyers. We are just like your rich neighbour. Lots of money and not enough time, so we take the shortcut. I think that I've bought about 400-500k gold. Most went into crafting and respecs.

Thank u for your post,  because this is a nice example why Goldseller's exist in MMO'S. Your Post says enough, it clarify's  the reason why players buy gold.

Players now-days are just to lazy to pick up some easy profession do quests to make / get gold. All needs to be easy and fast for those type of players. Where do they come from hmmm...what MMO especially?..hmmm.

PS: thanks for being honest about your doing, thumbs up.

Is it lazy that he would pay someone to mow his lawn each week so he could spend the day at the beach? He has the resources to eliminate boring aspects of his life so he can spend more time on what he enjoys. We get it, children, students and unemployed play games and have to grind shit out but don't try to turn things into some type of moral stance because you don't have the resources. If I could buy things thru the game to eliminate the things I find boring I would, let's face it they are just there to time sync subs as part of an old business model. If they weren't they would be skilled based rather than time based.

Reviews are mixed on TESO because it is trying to do something different, somewhat slower progression (nothing like as slow in the old days), no Auction House and other differences do not go down well with many players. Having been fed on a diet of easyMMO's and MOBA's thats hardly a surprise.

I would put it at an 8+ myself.

What exactly did they do different and what about it makes you rate it an 8? I'm interested because in my experience there is not a single thing in this game that hasn't been done before and in a lot of cases much better.

"Having been fed on a diet of easyMMO's" wow you said that? This game isn't hard at all its AWKWARD.

The UI is terribly lacking information. Why even have buffs/debuffs if you cant even see them applied, no names plates, no performance information available for players to improve, can see what you are looting, we shouldn't have to wait on ui modders to fix it after this many years of MMO development.

You cant do more than one thing at once, want to chat? great then stop whatever you are doing, want to look at the map? never mind bringing up a full map every 2m to see how you are tracking to an objective.

Guild auction houses aren't an improvement over world auction houses, so much crap in the world your bags fill up in three minutes which you then port back to town to deconstruct.

All the armor looks drab, when you upgrade it actually looks WORSE.

All healing is smart healing in most case AoE smart healing.

So much zoning in the open world.

I could go on but seriously this game isn't hard its an awkward stop / start step back in the quality of life of MMO's. I wish it was insanely hard so then Joe average wouldn't be defending it.

And the reason i put it on these forums is because when i tried to put one on the Elder scrolls forms where most people need the post to be, Zenimax immediately deleted the post.

Are you suggesting that people are so stupid that they don't know what refunds are?

*forgot to mention, my question is rhetorical

Zenimax have it in their TOA that customers rescind all their rights to a refund however in countries like mine (Aus) we are protected from such rubbish. I got mine thru this morning as well, took 5m to arrange with CS (email) and 3days to arrive in my account. There are several other countries that protect their citizens consumer rights also and I think his intent was to let ppl know it is possible to get a refund as opposed to explaining what a refund is.

if you really think this is protecting its citizens rights by asking for a refund on a game three weeks after playing it the entire time you need to go back to school. This law wasnt designed for people like you that can basically play something for free for a month, devour the content and then get all their money back. Regardless if you liked it or not if you play it for a week or two you deserve to pay the box fee regardless if you like it or not. Unless you had a technical issue preventing you from playing there is no excuse for this sort of thing. Bugs happen in all new games including old ones like DAOC and EQ its part of the technical time in software thats unavoidable.

You need remedial comprehension.

How did you arrive at your assumption that I beat the game in three weeks and used a refund to get it for free? It's like you saw some key words that pushed your auto regurgitation button and off you went. In my country if we aren't satisfied with the quality of a product or service we are protected under consumer law in that we can request a refund. Part of that law also prevents businesses from rescinding it.

You are kidding yourself if you think the issues with this game and customer service fall into minor commissioning bugs.

It amazes me the lengths people go to in placating poor products or services. Yes bugs happen and people are accepting of them however we are in a different context now. Its 2014, this is a $200M+ capital project not an Indie start-up and its design isn't too different from many that came before it in fact most of it existed already. It should of been better quality and had better customer service. By bugs or poor service I mean exactly that not morons with stone age PC's or third world internet assuming the games the problem.
