Remove the swimming on land feature.

Remove the NPC creature anti gravity boots.

I have no doubt Win 8 is better than Win 7 under the hood however the problem from my perspective is purely the interface. Live tiles make sense on a phone or a tablet with no other input method however on my desktop it makes no sense at all. Firstly, I don't sit close enough to my monitor(s) and would have to lean in to touch the screen which would make the whole experience awkward i.e. leaning in/out typing etc. so if I had to resort to the mouse there's no point. Secondly, I can perform tasks much faster with a mouse or commands than reaching in and touching the screen.

I built this machine two years ago and with Win 7 I have never had a single BSOD - if I was to upgrade my desktop OS then it would need to offer a productivity or usability upgrade not just a pretty interface. I get it, they are trying to unify to reduce development complexity / time / money however they probably should of looked at a more universal cross platform input system.

I still don't know why they are so resistant to a desktop live tiles system with a full screen mode - start menu live tiles seems like they have the shits and are reluctantly saying FU.

The reason why wow dungeons are no longer interesting is because they dumbed them down so anyone can complete them. Its like playing a game on easy, just no challenge so you can simply rush forward without any strategy. Noone made those kinds of complaints during TBC launch when heroic dungeons could kill you.

I've played WoW since 2004 and am in a Heroic raiding Guild. I remember when Cata came out and we hit the new Heroics in blues and had to work as a team to clear them. CC was back, smart pulls where back, mana management was back we absolutely loved it. We all know what happened though? The huge mass of average gamers cried their heart out on the forums until they go nerfed. Unfortunately the power is where the money is and that's the mass of average players. I'm not saying its wrong or bad its just nature at work. I may be good at gaming and some other things but I'm equally bad at others.

If you fit a normal distribution curve over gamers say roughly 25% below average, 50% average and 25% above average it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realise that the numbers of average and below are what pays the bills so very few businesses are going to focus on the above average.

I like games to be difficult however I'm also a realist - we will always get selectable difficulty in solo games but its going to be very rare indeed to get a hard difficult in an MMO applied to the masses. Moreover it will be selectable such as Heroic raiding is.

It's pretty simple really games mirror real life.

Just like there are thousands of blue collar workers compared to team leaders/supervisors/managers its the same with dps/healers/tanks. People in general shy away from responsibility especially any role where their performance is on display and open to critique.

Try getting a dps to do the belts or engineer role in SoO - no one wants to do it because their performance is on display and failure becomes obvious.

My thoughts on fixing it are:

Remove threat and make tanks hold agro via dps only (buff them)

Make healers like the mage healer spec in Rift (80% heals thru dps rest thru healing)

Leave dps as they are

There's no point removing the trilogy because without it they become dumb or death / repawn fests like fighting a target dummy aka GW2

It's a Korean free to play mmo and you expect more? Free to play quality will always be lacking and AA is a living prove of it.

List of low quality:

  1. Korean speaking NPC
  2. combat
  3. character customization
  4. starting area
  5. empty world
  6. invisible walls
  7. community/chat OMG!!!
  8. graphics, specially trees rocks and other environment
  9. Cutscenes
  10. cash shop + subscription
  11. i can continue like this all day but not worth my time for this particular game.

But you don't know what you're talking about because you clearly haven't played the game.

I've played the open beta the whole w/e an he's pretty much dead on the money. The only thing I kept thinking when I was playing is "this is re- purposed Aion"  - if you pay close attention you can see so many re- uses from Aion.

I think games go free to play to prevent them becoming a ghost town. The 20% of ppl that like the game will always pay and the 80% that are there for free are the "extras" to keep the world populated. If they pick up some minor transactions it's a bonus.  20/80 was just for the example.
I'm sure a person of your integrity will be marching into work Monday and telling your boss that you no longer want to be paid for your efforts. Or moreover, telling daddy you don't want any more pocket money.

here's a thought I just had...

we're increasingly social in the real world, due to technology. perhaps we want some alone time during our recreation but not our entire recreation period.

You have it backwards. Technology has done more to isolate people from one another. Siting on the lounge, lying in bed, sitting on the train etc staring into a device typing away in chat is in no way a human social improvement.  With today's technology you could live isolated never meeting a person but somehow think you are a social butterfly typing words going into ether and returning.

Auto pathing is very common in F2P Eastern mmos. Dont be surprised if they also add auto fighting, which is also very common in the east.

Don't be supprised if you have to play at all. Pay your sub come back in 6m and your chars full Glad :p

It is simply the best MMO for graphics currently out there. I think there may be a couple of MMOs that are not in the west yet that better TESO but until they come out TESO rules graphically.

With max settings the grass and tree leaves are 2d. When you rotate your char they rotate to face you. Many games have better graphics than ESO even Rift has proper grass.

For the sake of argument, let's say I'm a level 20 what have you, and I spend 40 smackers on 2 credds. I then sell them in game for 4 plat. I then use that money to buy crafted gear that is ridiculously priced (due to the ability to buy in game gold) that a normal player, who's not buying gold can't afford. I then start to distroy folks in pvp because of my full set of nice crafted gear that I basically paid real money for...  You guys can fight it all you want. It CLEARY puts those who spend extra REAL money at an advantage. I've seen this happen before. I don't have to prove this to you as you will experience it first hand. Enjoy.

Low level twinking happens anyway even in games where ppl can't buy currency thru some means so your point is irrelevant. Besides, those players could get the gear it just takes longer that is all. Your point boils down to defeating time sync's not skill.

You do not understand what pay to win means.

Please, enlighten me then but wait I think you'll say "pay to win" is when the player gains significant advantage against another through buying more powerful items. If that's the case I disagree with you. If the game design/endgame is based around COLLECTING and using expensive RARE items for show off or simply gaining some extra feat/achievement is considered Pay to Win in my book.

That dimishes the point of collecting in first play, thus making the experience unfun, unrewarding and pointless. Also every single item that will require ingame currency to obtain basically can be obtained easily for $ and it won't be just about obtaining items it will be about a lot of other things.

For instance I can easily bring most players I want in my guild for the right sum (which means bringing players from other guilds as well). You'll be surprised what players are willing to do for free currency.

Pay to win refers to paying to defeat something that requires SKILL. Paying to defeat time sync's such as COLLECTING is not defeating any skill. It's always the same, ppl with copious amounts of time to sync hate others being able to use thier money to short circuit them. I bet you complain about the guy that pays a cleaner to clean his house while he gets a golf lesson and gets "ahead" of you. Why do you think sync'ing all your time away is some type of skillfull achievement? It's probably because it's your only option.

The only "point" of collecting to to sync subs out of ppl.

Maybe if developers changed MMO's from a grind fest to that of entertainment and skill then there wouldn't be a market for gold sellers. The notion of drip feeding players ground hog day menial content in an attempt to prolong a subscription needs to die.

Had some trouble capturing all windows in WS. As a guide:

Wildstar (Max settings)

FPS 45 (looking into city to tax system)

CPU i7 @ 4.5GHZ (25,25,25,10,75,0,75,0)%

GPU EVGA GTX780 TI (Usage 65%, GPU 1500MHz, Memory 3500MHz, @ 65 deg C)

ASUS 144MHz monitor (@ 144Mhz)

16GB Memory (usage 6.5GB)

2x SSD in Raid 0

The game doesn't utilise my system at max settings.

the OP lost me when he said "tab-targeting"...

WildStar does NOT have tab targeting, which is one of the reasons I love the game. Everything must be aimed.

Wildstar is infact tab target, The only difference is every ability is an aoe to disguise it.

Go load up wow, Get a mage and start spaming arcane nova. -> wildstar combat.

Wildstar combat is a compromise between those fools that want some sort of feel (there's no comparison to aiming in a FPS with 15ms latency compared to an MMO with 300mms) for aiming and the tab target people. The ability widths are just there to account for peoples latency provided the person can hit a barn door with a shotgun.

I haven't died at all on 4 chars (L8+) so far so I hope it gets harder. If they are going to telegraph abilities then failing should be terminal.
They sent me a beta key via email and I enjoyed the weekend. The next weekend I was told I had to go beg a key from one of the many gaming review sites. They lost me at stupid.
The whole pretence of MMO PvP is to out level, out gear or out number your opponent. Skill is far down the list and it is purposely designed that way so that people who could never get a kill in a skill based 1v1 PvP game have a home. Its basically the Lion v the Hyena's scenario. There are some great gamers at the elite PvP level but all the rest are just Hyena's doing what Hyena's do.

For anyone who was wondering, for the first time ever I have had a paypal dispute decided in favor of the seller. This is unprecedented, because as far as "product missing parts or not as advertised" claims go, this is by far the most blatantly broken piece of trash I have purchased. Sadly, Zenimax has lobbied paypal, and doesn't even respond to their emails anymore, giving paypal sole deliberation.

I got a refund on exactly the same grounds in the UK.

What I did was:

A) Contact Zenimax directly.
B) Cite the specific clauses in consumer rights legislation in the UK (Sales of Goods Act and Statutory Rights). You will need to tailor this to your specific region. I have no idea what the relevant state or federal laws are covering this area, but there should be something prescribing some level of protection to consumers in such circumstances.
C) Highlight specific problems and issues I was having with the game that would class it as a faulty product (at the time that I asked for the refund). I was very careful to state that the refund request was based on the state of the product at the time of the request and not subject to patches or updates after this time that fixed the issues that I was having.
D) Uninstall all game files at the time of the request. I did not log into the game at all after I sent the request, so they could not cite access logs against me as "proof of usage".

48 hours later I received a full refund.

Did exactly the same from Aus. Zenimax's terms force customers to rescind their rights everywhere except in a few countries that laws don't allow it - USA not being one of them. First game I've ever sort a refund in over 20 years of gaming.
