Well, as far as I've seen, only some of the PQs are populated. By some, I mean most. And my most, I mean most of the beginning ones in each chapter. Obviously, some PQs are harder than others, so players avoid them. In turn, that gives the idea to new-coming players that no one will participate in that MMO, and it gets shunned.
I try to play all PQs at least once, win or lose. Most are pretty fun when you have guildmates to work with or some friends to back you up. People who try to solo PQs are the reason why they get a bad name. Or with some pretty poor backup...
I suggest you continue to play PQs. Influence rewards are pretty sweet if you don't have the rank, or cheese, for renown gear. |

I personally love the game. After coming from AoC, with a half-implimented PvP system, I found the RvR and Scenarios refreshing. I like a good PvP, but a half-assed PvP with no real motivation behind it besides "pwning" the competition.
I'm pretty happy with WAR. You get a good guild, couple mates to play, and you're set for a looooooong time. But be prepared to have at least a little patience, since you might find RvR hard in the beginning of the game. |

Huge Graphics Update in AoC - check it out now!
General Discussion « Age of Conan 10/01/08 12:05:12 PM
Sigh. An expression patch for NPCs/PCs...
Why are they doing this? Last time I checked skills are still bugged, classes are still unbalanced, and tehre's still geometry bugs in the maps (falling through ground, etc). Not to mention the memory leak (CPU/RAM requirements raise the longer you play the game).
Unless they already fixed this...which I think they didn't. |

I feel that AoC was a good game...despite the features that weren't included. I mean, the PvP system wasn't implimented when they boasted that AoC was a PvP game...
I'm still wondering if they'll salvage it. If so, I'm going to return, hopefully. If I can stand the community and the odd gimp/buff/gimp/buff pattern that the devs do when people complain about classes.
Hmm... |

Post Warhammer Online....Age of Conan is the best!!!
General Discussion « Age of Conan 10/01/08 11:54:17 AM
Wow, didn't know I'd get attacked for posting my opinion. Well, I still have AoC on my computer (just for review sakes) and I log on from time to time to see what changes have been made. So far, I'm not impressed at all. For the time being, I'll be staying with WAR...well, for the foreseeable future.
Let the flames begin! *ducks for cover* |

Post Warhammer Online....Age of Conan is the best!!!
General Discussion « Age of Conan 9/30/08 11:04:56 AM
Well, being a former AoC player (Guardian, lvl 6x) I was disgusted with how AoC was being handled. So disgusted I ditched my 6 month subscription 2 months into it and went to TR. Too bad I couldn't afford TR...such a good game.
And now I'm in WAR. But I'm hoping Funcom will salvage AoC. It had so much potential, excluding the features left out (DX10, PvP system implimentation). Hopefully, since I left in August, Funcom fixed some of the moe major class bugs...or finished the PvP system...
Or something... |

Can some one explain /aid and /assist?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 9/29/08 10:06:41 AM
You will auto support (heal) your defensive target when you have him targeted. If you have an ability that deals damage to a target and heals your defensive target, you target both the attack target and your defensive target (you can target 1 of each) and use the skill. Quite simple actually. But to answer your questions... 1. It's similar I believe, for each. Assist is for attacking your defensive targets target, aid is just targeting the defensive target...(I think). And...I don't know for the other numbers. |

Ok, for one, who cares if its a "L2 Clone". I certainly don't think it is. It has a unique look, good PVP system, a GREAT skill system and awesome looks! Even though it looks a tad bit like L2(Cora, mostly), its allright! I don't care about the grind. When there's a major grind for leveling, it gives you more satisfaction! Aye...if you w ant to say bad stuff about this game, do it somewhere else...honestly..why did you join this forum anyway? To badmouth a game you've only seen screenshots of and read other people's reviews? You should play it yourself, then say if its bad or not. Yeesh people, have a freakin' heart!

Have the winners been declared? I don't see anyone on the list, nor did I recieve a email/Pm (if I won)...
Thanks, Callist0 |

You have to really wonder, why do the creaters of L2 make the female characters like that.. The Dark Elf looks like ...well....a prostitute, to put it blunt. The females...they're alright, and the Elves, well, I like them Elves ^_^. But I really wonder, why do game companies make their female characters so....well, naughty? Is that the word?

List something that you would crave for in an MMORPG
MMORPG Game Concepts « Developers Corner 1/04/06 8:24:28 PM
Interactive environments! Cut lumber from trees, and the trees fall down! New trees grow, and die. Innovative NPCs. A armor seller can have unique wares, a personality, a trading style (bartering or just give money for this and that). Basic NPCs(like villagers) will hail you if your good, despise you if your bad (Like a fable type of alliance/alignment/divine sort of thing). Have the Havok Physics engine! Fire arrows create charred wood, catapults fling rocks, and break down walls bit by bit! In depth customizability!!! Make your own armor, weapons, and miscellaneous items (potions, bags, etc.) More in depth options for character creation, like hair, eyebrows, eyes, mouths, and beginning clothing. |

may we please have a pvp virtual world mmorpg!
MMORPG Game Concepts « Developers Corner 1/03/06 9:15:30 PM
I say yes to the level of in-depth interactive-ness(Is that a word?) and the complex worlds and such. But, how would newbies to the MMORPG world be at a disadvantage? They would have to go through the tutorial, which I don't mind to go through, but some newbies would like to get into the action right away. Maybe a simple interface (if that's possible for a complex game) can ease up the intimidation of the complex world?
Oh, and I say make 2 worlds. One for perma-death and one for non-perma. If new players want to test out a game, they can play on the "non-perma" world, and when they feel comfortable with the patience of leveling up and attaining new gear after dieing. I think that would be a good idea... Regards, Callist0 |

Well, if they would make a actual MMO game of Harry Potter, I think they would craft a game out of all the books currently on shelfs. When a new book or 2 comes out, they would make a expansion, although I did hear a rumor that she'll (he author of HP) will stop making the books in a few years. But, as IronOre said, the gaming industry isn't really looking into idea pitching and the whole, base a game off a book thing. Maybe it would work, but I don't really think so...
And yes, a MMO HP game can do without harry potter....just rename it to, oh I don't know, something less.....well...got nothing
Good idea, but I think it won't fly... Regards, Callist0 |

This would be interesting, if the game world is affected by all the players actions. If a group of PCs(a clan/guild) laid siege onto a small town and rocks and boulders, flaming arrows and such hit bulidings, they should show the damage. Like in another post I typed out, the Havok or Havok 2 physics engine. The abilty to destroy parts of buildings, walls, terrain. The customizability should be raised to a whole new level. The limitations should be lessened, and more option should be implemented. If developers shed the fear of having a non-successfull game, throwing away the old motif of shallow hack and slash, generic classes/jobs. And if game companies would ACTUALLY develop dynamic AI, like IronOre said. Monsters that have needs, that eat, drink, sleep and are affected by weather and different players. Sigh, I hope some of the game companies will take notice of this and, at least, think about it.

Combat, Collision Detection, and 1v1 Fights
MMORPG Game Concepts « Developers Corner 1/03/06 8:37:52 PM
Yes! I would love to havethe things you suggested! Collision detection! I hated in MMO's I would see about 10 people on the square. Then out of nowhere 30 people come out of one guy, severely lagging my computer. I've always despised it. The concept of reduced effectiveness against monsters when you take damage is interesting. But I think it would be cool when weapon(s)/armor pieces take damage (like when durability goes down), you would see it on your weapon or armor. Like little pieces of the item falls off, see dents in your helmet. I know that would take a lot of time, like generating all the slashing, blunt weapon dents, and arrows sticking out of your armor. Also, it would be interesting if they implemented the Havok 2 physics engine, like when a cannon hits a wall, a piece of the wall gets blown off. Wouldn't that be amazing??? I think so.... Beautiful thoughts and ideas guys. I love it! If only I had those interesting thoughts..... Now, if those would be implemented along with your ideas, that would be AMAZING! Regards, Callist0 |

STATS: don't show em, keep em low
Characters, Skills, Etc. « Developers Corner 1/03/06 8:24:57 PM
I read most of the posts (mostly Ragosch and ironore). I believe that your ideas won't succeed in the RPG industry. The level of customization (IE custom armor, build your own ___) would make too much time and effort to implement into a game. That level of customization would costs heaps of money and time of the workers. Probably if the graphics were toned down, they might be able to divert funds into the level of customization. I like the idea, but the amount of time, and effort that would have to be sanctioned would be enormous, but thats my opinion. But I like the idea of keeping your statistics hidden.
I love the idea though! Love love love! Now, if only game corperations would implement it into games they'll develop in the future....Maybe with cutting edge graphics, beautiful sound and riviting gameplay. That would be the MMORPG-er's dream! Regards, Callist0, the little guy in the corner... |
