Client crashes - NA server

"A small update on this issue: As the support staff has been informing players, we are aware of the situation with the client crashes and we are working on it. Tomorrow (Friday) we are issuing a patch to address, among other things, the client crashes players have been experiencing on the NA server. We apologize for the inconvenience and we thank you for your patience. "

I wonder if this patch will be  the road map update as well.

May Week 3:

The third week of May we’re adding our first major Dungeon and addressing a several community issues we had prioritized. This update among other things will include:

New Troll monsters
New Zombie monsters
New Troll Lord monster
New Cave Troll Monsters
New Dungeon: Iriendir


Community Issues:

Party Kill Round Robin: We’re implementing a party distribution system that operates in a round robin fashion.
Holding Protection Shards: We’re implementing a protection shard mechanic that operates through the clan GUI and uses Dominion Points.
Territory Control map painting: We’ve been investigating the possibility of painting territories on the map. This is more a visual enhancement rather than an actual gameplay effect
Clan holding improved crafting: The purpose is implementing crafting operations in clan holdings that also more efficient, costing less gold, and having a higher success rate. This is one of the measures to be taken to increase clan holding worth.
New Unique Resources: We will have several (at least 10) completely new unique resources that will be used as special rewards.
Smaller Strong Boxes: Their current size allows players to block passages with them and this was obviously not their intended use.
Reduced Building Costs: Clan holding building costs are to be reduced, as well as clan holding building hit points, and increased dominion gained when destroying clan holding buildings.

Now you know why no self-respecting person that claims to be a "professional game journalist" would go near the game even if they offered him/her the weight of the AV dev team in gold as compensation.

What you are are left with is either a bunch of hacks that try to make a name for themselves through the controversy  of the review itself or fanboys that enjoy a pat on the back from the community for "a job well done" when they manage to make a mountain from a dunghill while maintainign a "neutrally possitive" view by avoiding to mention  any major or minor issue that the game has and may result detracting a sub from the game.

Perhaps AVs intent with sieges is like Brad Pitt in that Gladiator movie.  Your best guy versus our best guy.  The rest of the clan can stand by and watch the fight.  No, I guess just them being there would crash the server.  Fine, Ripperx and the two fighters, he can deliver some commentary and everyone else can watch it on YouTube later.

I've seen several posts in other threads mentioning this on the forums here and I'm sure most are aware of this by now.  Regardless, it seems some resourceful individual(s) are very unhappy with Aventurine.  Go figure .....

AV took an aggressive stance on farmers...it's a good thing, funny that you instantly attack them as if they did something wrong...lol.

This is a pretty good way to do it.  I know several who are pretty much re-thinking things after these frequent crashes.  It's brutal to lose your stuff due to a server crash.

Yeah .... chat box and UI in general could use some work.  This is progress in a positive direction however.  Even if Aventurine quickly throws the map to the wind the can honestly say "We made a schedule."

Besides, it will give the forum goers something to cry about when they miss a deadline.

Just a thread to give potential new players the best and worst from existing players.  All to often on this site we just hear one extreme or the other from people.  Lets hear both ........ at the same time.

BEST:  I really love the open and seamless world.  My initial MMO experiences were in similar worlds and am really put off by instancing.  An instance here or there is OK, but the use of them has become way to common place in newly released games.  The open world just makes the game feel like everyone is playing the same game.

WORST:  As silly as it sounds, I think the worst part of "Darkfall Unholy Wars" is Aventurine.  I respect what they have accomplished and what they are trying to do.  Having said that, I feel embarrassed defending them in any way, shape or form.  I know the arguments, they are an indi company or their staff is small.  Never however have I seen a company so prone to F-ing up their relationship with their players.  It seems like they have a clue for a while and then they do something to blow it.  Over and over again ........

As difficult as it may be to post only one best/worst I think the single of each item has better impact.

This IS how it works.  I don't know how many games I have purchased and not even made through the first couple weeks  much less subbed into a second month.  Two thirds of the players re subbing is pretty damn impressive in my opinion. 

DFUW is fine.  It certainly has it's issues but most seem to be able to see through those issues and recognize the game as a whole.  Among other things it brings a different perspective to a genera that is absolutely flooded with the same old  thing in a different wrapper.

We all know Darkfall is not for everyone.  It would seem however the numbers that our good friend Deerhunter71 has brought to everyones attention ..... are looking pretty decent.

Lol .... it is a necessity.  Without him it would have been even more chaotic than it already is.  A guy like that is just doing his job,  keep the channel clear and listen to what he says.  Otherwise you are of little benefit to the group and their immediate objectives.

You know, this is the stuff that really pisses me off.  This is nothing new to Aventurine.  They have so "been there done that" it's not even funny.  When designing the new DFUW, hack/exploit prevention should have been a major priority.  I understand the complexity of the situation, the shear volume of players and the knee jerk "Your a Hacker!" of players when they get beat. 

Even something to help the player police it would have been nice.  Maybe a hit one key on your keyboard and your instantly recording your game session.  Then a section in the forums where you could upload those videos.  Title it  "Potential Hackers on Video" it would let the players weed through and decide which videos should go to AV for a real evaluation.

I personally have not experienced anything hacking/exploiting related in DFUW.  I was however there for the original Darkfall and there is nothing like dying to someone you never saw or moved so fast you didn't have a chance (and those were theobvious ones.)

As was said several times in this thread.  Aventurine needs to hit this hard and make it well known.

That is exactly how I viewed the F2P for many years now.  Recently however I have played a f2p game that suprised the hell out of me.  "Path of Exile" is a perfect example.  Any one not living under a rock knows there are no free lunches.  Sure you'll find an occasional gem, but, on the whole "Free" should be a big red flag.  It's not though for many many people and the marketers know this.  "Buy one get one free" or "Free blah blah with the purchase of this or that."  The words "Free to play" arn't going anywhere ....

So for the last few years they have been concentrating on putting out DFUW.  The while, Darkfall original had been receiving less and less attention.  Which certainly showed towards the end as far as updates/fixes went.  I guess what I'm getting at is now their full attention can be focussed on one game and the results will be apparent in the coming months/years.
