Will Xsyon be a good replacement for RV?
Capitoline Hill (General) « Roma Victor 3/15/11 12:28:21 AM
I have my doubts about it being a good replacement. The prelude safezones are a massive problem for most PvP'ers, a crafters dream, but I'm gonna have to see how the safezone and combat mechanics development. Combat is shite atm, even in comparison to RV.
Damn Hopi are influencing Jooky too much. |

RV Forums now seem to be gone, at least for the time being. We have set up a site aiming at getting a community site together. We set the ball rolling about a day before the servers with the forums and game servers failed. So luckily we got most of the regulars in. http://roma-victor.proboards.com/index.cgi is the adress for everyone at the moment while Junia and others work at establishing a proper site for those left behind.
Cheers guys

Apparently gods and heroes is nothing like rv at all. Most of our vets didn't seem to like it. |

I played FOM after the 2nd release for ages in VI and loved it. Fairly good community, leaders (at least in my own faction) were sensible and made rules that on the whole benefitted us. Loved it until my pc broke and I was unable to continue playing and I haven't checked back for around 6 months. Sad to see it has really gone down the pan. |

Good find Columbus, lets hope it does lead somewhere and the devs tell us something. |

Do single servers make more sense?

Pity it was pulled sounds like my kind of game. Far as I know this many similar concepts. The ransoming etc is one feature that sounds similar. Probably still alot of room to influence their ideas at this stage, community is still small. |

I gather that the "heir" will recieve a portion of the character's traits and some of his 'estate'. This was discussed on the forum and though they admit it is not going to be 100% realistic in that sense it is explained much more on there. |

I started gaming on a PS1 before moving on to the PS2. Shortly after I got hooked on COD2 on the pc and have never looked back. The PC can do almost everything better than a console can. I also purchased a 360 so I could play with my RL friends who owned them. The 360 community is awful. XBL is just full of 12 year olds trying to sell you hacks or making inane noises down the mic. The only games I have since bought for the xbox were cod4, codmw2 and the orange box.. The first two of which were far better on PC. If you like MMO's get the PC. If you like any other games bar racing games or sports based games like Fifa get the PC. |

Roma Victor: such a great idea for a game with the potential it had deserved so much more than what it was given by a small scale incompetent dev team. When I think how good that game could have been, it makes me so sad :S. |

Are Online Communities in MMORPG's a thing of the past?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 6/28/10 7:45:34 AM
Big well advertised games such as WoW will attract more kiddies and tend to have a detrimental affect on the communities. That would be a reason why in my opinion you should never put an MMO on a console for that reason. I own an xbox60 and everyone on there is about 10 and think they are god's gift. I've never played WoW or had much MMO experience. I've played Face of Mankind, which despite a few dicks had a great community. Roma Victor had a superb community where everyone pretty much knew everyone and got on fairly well even cross faction. Idiots were generally known and shunned by the community. I'm 18 now and my first MMO was Runescape when I was about 12. One that we made our own group with RL friends and so it wasn't so bad. Smaller games tend to be better community wise and also the sandbox element where it required a bit of work to get started put the little kiddies off. |

What's the Big Five of MMO's in 2012?

Roma Victor 2 :D EvE WoW Guild Wars 2 Xyson |

As the owner of an 360 and finds that the majority of people who use the console are incredibly immature 9 year olds, I would find the community alone, unbearable. The idea of an MMO on a console to me would not work with the controls either. Thats obviously my own opinion. |

Will Xsyon be a good replacement for RV?
Capitoline Hill (General) « Roma Victor 5/20/10 9:06:19 AM
Maybe, not sure what the impressions are from those playing at the moment are. One thing you can say that is worrying is that the reason RV was held back so much was it's engine. The same guy who made RV's engine is leading Xyson development. If Jooky has learnt from his mistakes on the RV engine, then hopefully he can polish Xyson off to a level that RV didn't get even close to. The monthly fee rules out any chance of me trying it out in the near future. |

Forums and servers back up. DGH has made a few changes to the server as well apparently. |

HOMM3 was a superb game and one that I played a fair bit in my early childhood. Hope this game does it justice. |
|

Xyson or whatever is the game made by Jooky who made the RV1 engine single handedly but hasn't had anything to do with RedBedlam for some time. (I think)
As for the current situation. A few weeks back, the game and website went down for like 4-5 days before being put back up with devs saying their isp had probs or something. Its been 2 weeks this time and no signs of life from the website or game servers. There were like 4 regular people playing that I know of before it went down. Lets hope RV2 does materialise as RV was a one of a kind with so much unfilled potential. |

One of the best ideas for an MMO. It wasn't anywhere near as good as it should and could have been but it kept me hooked longer than any other game I've ever played. I'm not holding my breath for RV2 if I'm honest but servers open for 14 months still so some PvP madness will hopefully ensue. |
