The good, the bad, the ugly, 1 week in.

An honest and fair review I would say. Better than the players who slate it after 2 minutes of playing. The current RV UI is terrible. It is having a major overhaul for RV2 so we've been told. The invisible barriers bug is a pain. Relogging does solve this. The original client was done by one man on his own. But he has since left the company. The devs have admitted the current client has laods of limitations they cannot fix which is why so many bugs are still in game. That's why RV2 is so exciting. As a barbarian I can say our starter town is normally very busy. Bare in mind romans do have more players but they are more dispersed around the south and very few stay in Corstorpium as it is generally a poor performance wise town. Barbs although about 3:1 less in numbers are more concentrated in Erring and surrounding boards which makes it easier for new players I guess. Maybe we will fight soon ;)
RV is one of those gems that has soo much potential it just can be frustratingly slow at times.
Glad you gave it a fair go.

Apologies, attending is poor. The devs are working on Rv2 alot right now. More screenshots today. Check em out. Attending has been a massively complained about feature. You can skip it by a simple forum post to the magistrate for deattending. RV2 has a whole different system.
P.S:The guy who spam posts about this game Marker. Has been crucified for a range of activities believed to range from hacking to griefing. |

lol Saorlan hasnt played for well over a year far as i know yet he still thinks your an arse Marker. Discouraging people to play a game that would be so much better with more players when you play it yourself is just wrong. Maybe you think more players=More enemies you will make? |

Its better than beta by far performance wise. Still the odd crash but it is far better. Many more new features are in, still not what was promised at release but more. If you buy now at £10 it is better as the price will go up massively when Rv2 is released. |

God Marker, give it a bloody rest. You play RV more than any other player I know. Yes alot of freemen hate you as well as romans. I was in that category not too long ago. You have started to change your attitude in game somewhat. For god sake don't screw it up for yourself. |

lol £9.99 for a lifetime account now to try or probably over double that after RV2. i know which I'd choose. |

lol, it definetly is worth the moey. It is possible to live without buying more money. I have been playing for ages and am living off my starting money and selling weapons to roman merchants. trial Islands immenant. They are completed and waiting release. |

Really enjoying this, wasnt sure what to expect and despite it being difficult at first I've got into it nicely |

Think it's a wonderful idea, an open sandbox in a historcial wild west setting. I can imagine it being huge, but it would have to be skill based and not "classes" as this is a poor system in my eyes. Skill based systems are great. I play the roman historical MMO roma victor at the moment which is great, despite still having lots of content missing. Another historical game would be a hit. |

People whoa re that worried about graphics wouldnt go near the game after looking at the screenshots. It's RV's gameplay that keeps people. |

I was around pre-launch briefly, but i was one of the ones who played for a day and really couldnt get into it. I only really found my feet when i returned in november last year and am loving it now. I know in the barb community everyone knows everyone. Real good atomosphere around towns like Erring. Marker I know the graphics arent the best but they aren't horrendous either. Also the type of player who plays RV does not play for the graphics.
The nice thing is we always get the vets who have moved onto DFO etc come back and check it otu again whenever e updates are in. Thats what is so reat about it. Pay £10 and play for life :D
So virtus your in game name was virtus was it? Mine is Watson. Unlikely you would remember me either. :D |

You get from this game what you put in. While I agree with Marker that this game is not where it was meant to be by this stage, it is still an incredibly adddictive game. Go barb, thats where the fun is :D. Fully worth the £10 i paid for it. Without a doubt. |

1.Fix for building bug coming out this month. Along with other fixes for long standing bugs. e.g launchpad bug 2. Not freely exploited by all, very wrong, this game does not attract the hackers and cheaters and glitchers. The ones in the past are now banned. To be fair Marker you took a break from the game and with your RV forum ban and have missed a bit of what has happened more recently. 3. Trial Islands coming out within this month. 4. If you want to craft in absolute safety without fear of attack or just crafting goods for the sake of it. This is not the game for you. The game developer admitted in the past that WURMonline was an influence in this game and I'm told that the two games save many similarities.
5. Just pointing this out , that RV is well known for having one of the best MMO communities out there. Marker again I know you personally have had alot of backlash from the Erring community recently, mainly because of your rudeness and often arrogance. You also have many enemies both north and south of the wall. I admit to more recently having my own disagreement with you which ended in bloddshed and is now finished. Community is the best part of this game. Even ask any of the vets who have moved on and they will tell you the same. |

To be honest i'm not much of a crafter in game but, the cradfting system is probably the most in depth than any other MMO out there. The thing that puts people off is the steep learning curve, the graphics and the sometimes painfully slow development. But the latter is getting better and updates seem to be coming faster.
There is a free trial out, hopefully before the end of the month where you on trial islands. Definetly worth checking out when it does. |
