While low level you wil be doing alot of soloing, there is heaps of fellowship ( grp questing) but once you do get to around 47 plus end game comes into play and its a blast. I find it rather fast and furious at times and I throughly enjoy it. Personally if you come back, find a good Kin that does things all the time and you will be having a blast. Find a kin that does bugga all and you may find you are soloing constantly when can not get a PUG fellowship. So all in all, Find a good Kin/fellowships and you wil be going crazy in combat :) which I find is a real blast. 2. End game since Bk14 is down right fun fun fun! So much to do now you are never without something to do. 3. Nope, if you had a founders sub, I do hope you didnt actually goto your account opage and CANCEL! your account, Cause if you did more than likely you will be paying the founders sub ($199.00) again) but if you just left it when you took a break yes you come back and log in and start playing. Also of note, play on a server that is very populasr and you are then never without a fellowship options as there is always fellowships going for just about anything, A few servers are busy in peak times, but off poeak they are rather sparse, Elendilmir is rather popular, lots of USA/Europe and Aussies online so peeps on every minute of teh day :) Cheers Tan

HGL, not worht the time or effort. I feel sorry for those that bought Lifetime Sub. With FSS gone way of teh Dodo. How long is it til the servers are turned off?..or at worst sit there with bugga all content added as it becomes some other gamign companies afterthought? I am glad I didnt get Founders Sub to HGL, as I wouldnt be too happy with what has happened to FSS and teh games Future. My suggestion, be patient and wait for D3, If Bliz do it right it wil roxxors as D2 did. Cheers Tan

Turbine has done a great job with Lotro, Yes there is issues atm, but they just done a major FREE! update adding in content and such. Today while I was online there was issues with Rubberbanding etc. But I was amazed to see a Dev in a user chat channel that is highly populated advising us they are working on it adn there would be server downtime to fix the issues at hand. You can't ask for better Customer service than that. Your issues with forums etc, I not sure there I can always access them and havent had an issue with them ever when teh servers have had issues, Turbine wil have it up and running as smooth as a bubs bottom soon enough and all shall be happy once again. I have played many MMO's in my time and LOTRO is the best one for stability to date for me. So I am off to see the big yellow ball in the sky while they fix the issues, havent seen it in awhiles, think they call it the sun. LOL. Cheers Tan

HI all, I played WOW and LOTRO, current retired frow WOW and into LOTRO, But both games were/are fun, But I feel they are quite different to me. Yes the EXP's coming do have alil in common, but thats the case for all MMO's out there. There is hardly anyway to make something new and exciting, since MMO's been going now for some time and they all borrow ideas from each other to make new content and or expansions. After getting a few chars to 70 in WoW I found it getting boring to me, so I went looking for something new, I tried LOTRO and I enjoy the immersion alot more than WoW, So I am a LOTRO fan these days, and even with an EXP for WoW coming out, I won't be returning. I feel its abit long in the tooth and dated. I'll hold for Diablo 3 from Blizzard ( hope they do it right :) ) I wish Blizzard all the best on there expansion for WoW, I am sure heaps are going to love it. I am looking forward to the Mines of Moria for LOTRO :)
Cheers Tan

Hi all, Being that i do occasionally raid with my guild on the MMO I play. But I do agree with the reasons you have listed. Personally I do prefer to just ejoy the game and not be governed by turn up this time, spend next 6 hours or so in the same dungeon ( usually how it works - WoW was always kara etc gets boring fast) over and over as the weeks go by. I have come to the personal conclusion that I more prefer to do alil raid content every now and then and just enjoy the game with some friends doing what ever we want and not be ordered around fro a 1% chance to get an item that one we may not use and or be replaced faster than was worth the raid time. One more thign I wil mention, is I left WoW for LOTRO and the raids I do run with my guild are alot less time consuming and most times teh rewards are worthwhile, I don't mind doing a raid with them everynow and then, as I only need to spend an hour to hour adn a half to run the raid, instead of half a dozen or more. Oh and I did consider using extremely large text to be cool :P But I refrained from it LOL.

Long live WoW, so it may keep the crazies happy and not annoying me and other players of other mmo's :p

LOTRO wins in my choice. Works nice out of the box, hardly a bug to be found, I find lots of players online always. AoC, dont play it myself, but some friends did, Didnt sub after the free month, too much instancing, too many bugs, etc. Hope AoC does pull their heads out of the sand and get it sorted sooner than later as there is heaps of MMO's coming out and competition is nasty for your sub. Longer they take the less plauyers they going to have/keep. For me, I playing LOTRO since release, and still enjoy it today, and with another major content update only a week or so away I really cant wait to see the new stuff they adding. and then down the track a new EXP is coming out Mines of Moria :) thats going to rock.

Straight from http://hellgateguru.com/ true or not, I bought the game on release and I must say I feel its going backwards more than forwards. I played free for abit to see if I would like it, and then tried out subs even the newer patches, but its same ol same ol grinding mobs in same place to try adn get something that maybe 3% better than you already got. I lost interest fast and all my friends moved on faster than I did. I really wanted this game to shine. But it didnt for me. You may like it quite a few still play though I do find the towns very sparce now and last few times I was on I hardly saw a sole running around anywhere in the game, even chat channels were very quiet. But give it a shot, It maybe the thing your looking for or not. Anyways the below post was from a Hellgate fan site, And if thats true, I think its going to go backwards even faster. POST FROM http://hellgateguru.com/ Flagships’s Community Manager, Taylor Balbi, has revealed to VE3D that all Ping0 and Flagship Studios staff have been made redundant. According to Taylor and the VE3D article, employees were notified at a company meeting and subsequently informed that the offices will be officially closed on Saturday. The source went on to reveal that three of the studio’s top brass dug into their own pockets to provide 30 days of pay to all employees. As mentioned earlier, word of the studio’s closure reached HanbitSoft, leading to an early press release regarding the control over the Hellgate: London intellectual property that lead to a stern rebuttal from an official source in Flagship Studios, which, subsequently lead to a HanbitSoft lawyer posting the following sentence on our very website: “It is unfortunate that Flagship turned down additional investments HanbitSoft offered to make that would have allowed it to keep its doors open.” As also referenced in the legal release, HanbitSoft hopes to independently continue development of Mythos, to which it owns the rights thanks to a loan agreement enacted with Flagship. Comerica now owns the Hellgate: London rights through a similar loan agreement, and will likely continue Asian development with HanbitSoft. As for English-language releases of the two games, it is possible that the Asian companies would continue development, but the fate of the US, Japanese and European version of Hellgate: London remain a mystery. In short, Flagship’s time has run out, and all intellectual property may have been lost, all staff fired, and the studio closed. Flagship, we hardly knew ye… Further Confirmation: A person going by the name of GLC who is claiming to be a former employee of Ping0 has made the following post on SomethingAwful to further confirm the company’s demise:

Father of three boys. 11, 1/1/2 and 5 months. It all about time management. I play at night mostly, when the kiddies are chilling out for the nite and geting ready for bed. But the days are gone for raiding etc for me, as my kids always come first and playing a game raiding for 3 horus straight or more doesnt cut it for quality time with my kids. But yes, you can play MMO's, I am playing LOTRO atm, as I find its quite easy to play one handed if one of my younger kids wants a cuddle from daddy, or such. I even do a smallish raid occasionally when time permits. All in all, Time Management and you can play an MMO. Just don't be one of those people that ignore the kids cause the game becomes 1st place! I have seen it happen with a friend of mine and its not a good thing to see / experience. Cheers Tanvaras

I play both LOTRO and EQ2, I have high level character on both games as well. I would say if you are limited for time to play LOTRO is the better bet. Though both offer solo play, LOTRO is abit more friendly to solo than EQ2. I have never had an issue getting into grp for either game, Just make sure you research the server you want to play on, some of the servers on both games are low pop, so if you really keen on grping pick one that has a larger pop and you won't have any issues finding grps. I run many alts, and never have any issues finding low level players to grp with as well, when you dont want to do the solo grind/questing. All in all, pick the game that appealed to you the most and enjoy, Both are fun games that offer alot of adventuring to be done :) Cheers Tanvaras

Suxxors mate, sorry to hear that. I myself will not be trying AoC out, too much bad press about it. I dont mind MMO's having bad press as most do when theya re relased, but AoC is not donig the right thing I think, Lets hope fro there sake they get into gear and sort out there major issues, or they going to be another lemon MMO out there as more and more MMO's go live. Depending on the server your char is on, yup, there can be a slow run to get into grps etc. I currently returned to LOTRO after being totally sick of WoW. I play on Elendilmir Server. I find grp anytime of day or night quite easily. At worst find a guild that is helpful to lower level members and help those get grp quests done if you are having issues with finding a grp for quests/instance runs. One thing I find is an issue, Champ class is like the hunter class in WoW, everyone plays one, and they are one of theharder classes to get added into a grp for questing, I always find at times there be 3 champs in a 6 man grp for general questing, which isnt a bad thing, but alot of grps like abit more variety and wont take anymore of a class if they can help it. Bit of a downer for the Champ class, but its theway it goes with some classes. Anyways, I am enjoying being back in LOTRO and find 95% of the pop on the server are decent normal players not like another MMO, where they seem to be full of annoying whining morons or adults that act like morons and such. Anyways, best way to find out if you will like it is to resub for a month and see what you think, we are all different and what some like others dont. Cheers

Hi peeps, I played WoW since end of beta til just recently. I have a few chars to 70, my favorite was a Gnome Warlock, But I do agree that it is old and dated and I used to log in and wonder what to do as most things were so robotic now that I found I wasnt enjoying myself anymore. So I decided to hang up my boots and move on to something alil more challenging in the MMORPG way of things. I have played Eq1, EQ2, WoW, and Lotro. All are fun games, and have enjoyed all of them alot. Currently I have gone back to Lotro for some Middle Earth fun, and to be honest I am having a much better time there than I have had on WoW. Leveling is alot slower, which personally I prefer, You are not lvl 70 in 5 days played like alot of other MMO's and I am enjoying the story line alot. I also agree that yep there is way less pain in the rear peeps on other MMO's than WoW, and yes, due to WoW being the biggest by far for Subs. But Hey! let it stay that way, I prefer to play an MMO, without too many tossers annoying the general pop of a server and if WoW can hold them there, then they are not on another harassing those players LOL. But I feel all MMO's can be good and fun, it all depends on your play style, attitude, etc. There is an MMO out there for anyone that wants to play. Just got to find your play style. I myself prefer a harder style of MMO than WoW, its alil too easy. Cheers Tanvaras. |

Can not agree more mate, I really enjoyed EQ1. It was teh jump off point for me into MMORPG's and I stil think it was the best. The slightest improvement in your gear as you state (+1 wisdom or such) was a big deal, not llike most today where you go from 15 wisdom to 500 wisdom in no time flat. And awesome gear seems to be able to be aquired so fast its stupid. I played a Duid and Necro, and yeah mate I can remember getting a Fine Steel Mace for my Druid as well, and that was a big deal, My necro had a Fine Steell Dagger. Porting players and yourself for bank runs was an everyday thing. I was eventually leader of the guild I was in as we were a progression guild, Lvl 1 to 50 we sat in one guild and when we became 50 we moved to our sister guild which was the raiding one if you wanted to raid. I can remember loggin on and the 1st business of the day was sorting out the guildies, Porting some of the to places, getting alot of them organised for a run into some place for a fingers crossed loot run. Best fun I ever had with my guildies was running DROGA fro the Druids to get the "Shroud of Nature (+6 Wis to shoulders) item from the Goblin Warder if I remember his name rightly. And it was a constested mob constantly LOL many times there would be comments from other players (HE IS MINE!!!!!...But being he was a roaming spawn he was free game by most players, Not realyl able to be camped. Other times would hang out when sort of tied up with some house work sitting at Ice giants pharming alil cash. Rather boring though, Cast 3 dots and root the mob to the spot and wait 1 min for it to die....LOL. But all in all, EQ1 will always be remembered by myself as my first real adventure into the land of MMORPGS and still thebest I ever played. Hiya all, WoW will still be there, as its a good stepping stone for new players to mmorgs. I played WoW for just over 2 yrs and to be honest, it is rather boring, WoW is truely a learning mmorg to bigger and more tougher level/playing mmorgs I feel. WoW was fun, and like most when you hit max level it boring raid the same 2 or so dungeons over and over and over. But alot of people I know on WoW have learned how to be a great player and have moved on to harder/more serious mmorgs. Over all, WoW needs to slow done the leveling process, being level 70 in 9 days play most do it now, isnt fun to me, Might as well let you have an option to roll a max level char right off char creation I say LOL. But thats only my opinion, lots of peeps love WoW and lots wil in time to come. Its a simple mmorg that anyone can play. Well back to Lotr for me, Finding that more fun these days. Cheers Tanvaras.
