Yes it was my first post but I've been here for a good while, just had nothing to say till I picked up on the hatred or vitriol for Amathe which I think is misplaced. Amathe puts forth some well reasoned questions. So far the only ones that have attemped to answer those questions were Brad and some folks from Silky Venom which I have followed off and on for years while waiting for new Vanguard news. You could say I was one of those players who didn't mind exp grinding. I played EQ for six years which I think is about one year after it's initial launch. Other then the emphasis on raiding in EQ1 and the exp grind (except for Test server) I think it's a far better game now. I've never played WoW. Looks too cartoony for me. I play GW. I don't prefer PvP (never have) but I have enjoyed the observation mode for PvP in GW. I enjoy GW except for the short timers on spells and those invisible walls but I understand why they are there. If GW came out with a mmo server for pay without those invisible walls I wouldn't even consider Vanguard. Having said that I would like to give Vanguard a try and I think it could be something special but I'm simply not prepared to exp grind like I did in the early years of EQ1, even now I wonder what I was thinking back then. It was painful exp. I was really shocked that Sigil was joining with SOE but I got over it. So I hope Brad is being truthful about it being easier then EQ1 but harder than WoW (admittedly I haven't played WoW). I'll see after I get a beta key. Sorry to have gotten off topic some. Recently I saw a post here saying that Sigil has put forward a massive change in Vanguard to be more appealing to the mainstream. I hope Brad can pull it off. I would suggest an alternate none uber raiding ruleset server or cap raids to a small number like two groups or something similar. Then he might get that million or two subs or more eventually. Why are so many bashing Vanguard

It's just debate. A dialogue. That's a good thing. Just be careful of those who feel threatened and want to stifle and stop it or control it. Those are the ones who are the crazies. Spiritglow |

Level limited and no drop gear wasn't a part of the original EQ. That was added later. Ultimately I think a persons co-dependent reality will determine the type of player who will stick with this game. Brad has stated that they want it to be as challenging (hard) as people will bear without quitting. Taking it to the ir limits. Sounds a little sadist to me and those who want in seem a little masochistic. A perfect match of co-dependents roles. Of course I'm not saying any are to the extreme in those roles but it's likely there in some measure. So far it seems that Brad would settle for 500,000 users of that variety than a much higher number by easing up on the difficulty to appeal to more of the masses. Spiritglow |

I really enjoyed EQ but I'll never ever go through that again with a mmo. The medding book. Huge med times. Hell levels. Not being able to solo well. "Rude Individuals" npc's in newbie grounds. Rogue Developers (You know who you are) amd more that han't come to memory. It took years for some of that crap to be taken out of the game. Spiritglow |

Raiding kills grouping. You can't group effectively in the ultimate dungeons because you need to RAID in order to acquire the gear to match these grouping challenges. Peoples will desire these who earn these raiding gear, in fact putting groupers as a second choice, inside grouping. What a nonsense. First choice in grouping have to be groupers! I say it again, non-raiding server = I will buy the game. Without non-raiding servers, I will not waste any money, non-raiding servers are a MUST and they are EASY to get up and working. I am sure SoE can provide 5 programers right NOW if Brad lack the staff and that within a month the non-raiding server is up and running! Non-raiding server also allow casuals to DREAM. These games are about dreaming, if you can't dream, you don't play the game. A raiding server kills any form of dreaming for me.Enforcing raiding will lead Vanguard to it demise. Yes it would be nice if Brad made available a grouping/solo rule set server but sadly I don't think it would happen. To make a grouping/solo rule set server would take away the validation that raiders seek and anger the raiders to no end. Many would probably feel betrayed and abandoned. Of course VanguardSoH will be a success anyhow. Just not to the degree that Guild Wars and WoW is. Spiritglow |

Amathe's reply looks to be in topic. Baphamet, feeling a little threatened by Amathe? Hey? Maybe Amathe's posts are hitting a little too close to the truth... Spiritglow |
