Well Family Guy is a very idiotic version of Simpons.  I (sigh) have coworkers who adore the show .. and they are simpleton's let me tell you.  They may know what they do - but personality? Zero.  Family Guy, great show for idiots, help them to become idiots? Hmm

Problem is that the younger generation watches stuff thats "new", and thus they automatically get subjected to inferior quality television.

It's a shame, because stuff like Pinky and the Brain puts the currently aired crap to shame (Pinky & the Brain is currently on YouTube for free, go watch it).  That's good entertainment.  Wholesome, moral meanings, but funny.

I HAVE to pull you up on this.  If you think that Family Guy is less intellectualy stimulataing than the Simpsons (2000 and beyond) then frankly your brain is fried.  I mean there is just no argument.

In that timeframe, no argument?

Are you arguing for or against me?

2000+, no argument?  I didn't think there was an argument.

edit: If you are in confusion, pls refer to my endorsementof of 1990's cartoon.  Got the picture?

Not really mate, I will defend late 80's to late 90's Simpsons to the death, anything that happened after 'meh'.  Sorry also got concentrated on a depressing tune so was not intentionally rude.

More proof that F2P isn't the magic solution to the industry's woes.

Seems a game that will struggle will struggle regardless. I would love to see some real and honest  figures as to just how 'F2P' games are doing across the board. It seems we are seeing just as much player loss with the model as we ever did with a sub.

I honestly don't think they are struggling, not really at all PS2 is cash machine. Hell I spent 40 on beta, and another 60 after launch. That's saying a lot. I'm just not a FPS person. I still pop in every now and then though.

I can t remeber where the article is, but apparently PS2 is making a killing.

apparently?  Is it?  I heard it was going tits up.  Since i have no more citation than you both our comments are nonsense.

What are your guys' idea of a fun adventure in mmorpg based game? What are the factors to a good adventure, and what do you think would make adventure better?

The events the OP described happen in Warhammer online with PQs.

Special random revolutionary event=

Collect crap

Kill crap

Recycle

?

Not revolutionary.

Nice of you to point out how a MMO works, +1 INT for you.

Actually I liked PQ's ...Rifts ....DE's and any open world boss in any game ,the only thing I know I hate are quest hubs and forced grinding to level

Yes I did like the PQ aswell for what they were, sadly after a while no one cared.

Oh god here he is again the fan boy, with the use of words like 'PQ', DE's', 'only' and 'are' this guy is c;learly soft in the head.

Can I ask a bloody huge favour of you, can you let your horrifically enfrenched (remember they surrendered) post go for a few minutes, if you do not own Gnet shares than frankly you are a borderline retarted.  I would prefer to put my money on the latter than Anest atm.

Yes I did like the PQ aswell for what they were, sadly after a while no one cared.

I am frankly sick of bad journalism on this site, for example the latest argument that frankly 'all men are bastards'...

a) it cited some random heresay from a few trolls out of millions of players.  It was so ludicrous it should be laughable but idiots on here take it seriously.   THIS IS NOT JOURNALISM- talk to me, I will explain to you what journalism is.

b) Picking and choosing your evidence to make your point.  On this site I see it over and over again.

I genuinely thing the guys who run this are too young and too ignorant, they may understand mmo's but they do not understand a structured debate.  And that is their problem, learn it.

Look this is entirely pointless,  If we accept that most people on this site are slightly inept when it comes to any sense of pathos, and judging by most posts they have a general antipathy towards most people, can we just accept they are abnormal?  Guild Wars 2 is crap, but I do not want this crowd to tell me so.
What a waste of time and effort.  It cannot happen, stop it.

Well I re-read the article several time and what I come up with is this.   The OP has many hurt fealings and blames men in general for those hurt fealings. It is all the mens fault. What I took away from it is somebody who wants to feel entitled to being a victim of circumstance.  You know what stand up for yourself and don't play the victim any more.  I did not treat her this way, but I am being blamed for somebody who did.

This article serve no purpose for gaming and really should not be on this site. there was nothing gaming releated other than somebodies hurt feelings.

+1

I realy tried to treat it as a legitimate piece of journalism but it is not.

That's another flip to the coin.

The new problems occuring now that woman are being put in the front-lines of army, there will be an increase of aggression or rape to her by her own 'team-mates' or sexual assault by the enemy.

There was a reason why woman weren't put in the front-lines, because of the gruseomness of it.

What?  Utterly irrelevent.  I mean there is a time and a place for that discussion, but I doubt this is it.

Yeah but Sov, I have never seen this occur in any computer game I have played.  I have seen all kinds of trolls but I have never been in a position for this to be an issue.  The internet is like the wild west, if you do see it happening by responding you will generally only feed the trolls.  Yes it is wrong, yes it should result in a ban if necessary, I am not in a position to police either of these things in a game, unless I threaten them with my wand of great evocation.

lol, ok point well taken and you are correct, perhaps feeding the trolls in some cases is not the answer. I do think that if one is in the position to say something, guild leader or officer, etc then they should. As I've said, I have seen it and in a funny circumstance was at the receiving end. Actually I had a guy hit on an alt in lotro though in his case he was at least nice about it.

Sorry I inferred anything negative toward your character. I just have concerns when people hear of things that are bad and instead of approaching it with the idea that it could be a real issue they lash out and attack or turn a blind eye because they aren't equipped or are unwilling to admit that there are issues.

I had a similar experience in vanilla wow.  It took me many hours of playtime to realise he was hitting on my female character as I only ever saw it as a bunch of pixels.

I have an AQ of 61, am I would be aloud to play?

I take slight objection to the conclusions you seem to be drawing about my character in your response.  I am not going to defend myself because frankly the slightly accusatory tone you use is absurd given that you are forming it from a position of complete ignorance about me.

In response: I am playing a computer game, that is all.  I run around and shoot gremlins or some such nonsense.  What is it that you expect me to be doing other than this to combat an issue I have never even seen occur within my computer game?

ok, great. And I don't know you so you might be a saint. But your, and other, responses are not about "wow, that's terrible that "some" people have to put up with this crap" but more about lashing out in some fashion at the mere mention of it.

yes, you play a computer game and you attack gremlins. Good for you. Me too for that matter. But the same could be said for "hey, I only want to go to the store, pick up my milk and go home. No drama". However, because people are people they bring drama. Some try to minimize and mitigate drama. But I've witnessed both sexual harrassment and just "harassment" in these games AND witnessed people who created drama and then became all "oh my, i'm being harrassed and I never asked for it" when clearly they did.

As a gross side note, I was once in game (lineage 2) and had a female character as an alt. And what happened? Some creep started hitting on me and in a very pathetic and disgusting way. He actually though my character was a female in real life.

Just because you haven't seen this issue doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Is your reaction going to be "I've never seen it so it doesn't exist period" or is your reaction going to be "if that's legitmiate then that's terrible"? That's the point.

My response would be, its a computer game, it is my downtime.  If I do not like the community for wahtever reason it is no longer escapism and I quit.

If I see these issues in real life that is an entirely different matter, but I rarely see them in real life; certainly my workplace (its about a 50/50 mix) and the bars I go to afterwards are a little more enlightened than the general portrayal in this article.

Yeah but monk, this is real life.

I know that's difficult for some to accept that logging into a computer game is anything other than escapism but humans are humans in any venue they choose to enter.

My circle of friends as well as my job are all above board and above and beyond as far as treating people well. I don't generally see this crap in my immediate circle. I have seen it in game and I have seen it out of game.

I've also seen people create drama and put themselves into the positon of "being a victim". I think they get off on it or need it to define them. I have seen people, and in this case women, walkking down the street and get harassed because they were chesty. And not even wearing revealing clothing.

So again, I believe the issue is recognizing when it's happenign and is a real problem (whether male or female but it seems that women have their own brand of harrassment that they have to deal with) and of course recognizing those who are all about drama.

@ OP GW2 events are anything buy dynamic..

They happen at the same points over and over and over.. how on earth is that Dynamic?

You don't know what dynamic means.

Dynamic just means something in a state of flow.

It doesn't mean random, it doesn't mean unique.

Both are wrong really, maybe Cyclical or Recurrent Events.

There is a thing in physics called "Dynamics of Circular motion".

The words aren't guilty people don't know their meaning.

There is also a 'Modified Newtonian Dynamics' as well as many other theories and phrases containing the word 'dynamic'; and these are also entirely irrelevent.

And all characterize things with movement and that are the opposite of static.

Which can be applied to any quest in any game making the word redundant.

No.

A quest has 2 states, not completed and completed.

A dynamic event can have several states that move, some in a linear fashion other forking.

But now you are choosing to ignore the definition of dynamic because it doesn't suit your argument.

dy·nam·ic  (d-nmk)

adj. also dy·nam·i·cal (--kl)

1.
a. Of or relating to energy or to objects in motion.

b. Of or relating to the study of dynamics.

2. Characterized by continuous change, activity, or progress: a dynamic market.

3. Marked by intensity and vigor; forceful. See Synonyms at active.

4. Of or relating to variation of intensity, as in musical sound.

Dynamic events as opposed to static quests (ala WoW). A static quest is indicated to be present by the presence of a "quest giver", usually an NPC with an identifying mark (a "quest bang") floating over them indicating that a player should interact with that NPC to receive the quest. The player will then act on the quest which usually affects only that player... killing a certain number of mobs, for example, will now start a counter as credit for the quest whereas killing those same mobs wthout the quest active provides no additional benefit. Upon completion of the static task, the player returns to the NPC for their reward. With a dynamic event you have a system in motion, often without the players even being present, although various triggers can set off the events (proximity, interaction with an object, etc). Dynamic events, when active, affect everyone in the area, not just the person that may have triggered it (as with a static quest). Everyone contributes and everyone gets rewarded for their contributions. DEs can also reach a fail state... failure to complete the event satisfactorally results in the event (and the area) settling into a different state than prior to it's activation. Fail states trigger new events to allow players the opportunity to push the event chain back towards success, but can also lead to additional fail states and new events as a result of those fail states.

In a nutshell, dynamic events are characterized by activity and progress (pass or fail states and chains). The fact that the chains can be pushed back to cycling is irrelevant to the fact that they are, by definition, dynamic.

Thank you very much for reaffirming what I previously posted. Maybe this time it might sink into some thick heads and knowledge might burst into bloom for them. By definition the events/quests in GW2 are dynamic. They might not be what some people have in their heads as dynamic and expecially what I would love to see as a "dynamic" event, but they are dynamic. The event changes to meet the requirements of group size, thus changing in intensity. One event can lead to another which changes the expected outcome of the event (even if it's only for a first time run thru).

For God's sake.  You debate semantics to avoid debating the actual content of the game.  Call them whatever you want, call them 'Mr Potato Head Events' for all I care.  The point is they are more than a little underwhelming and do not live up to the GW2 pre-release blurb.

They didn't live up to your unreachable expendations.
