I told them in beta the game sucks. I hate being right all the time,...  :)

They are still pulling there server is only open for pre set times last I knew.

I am playing eve now, but the constant ganking has taken a lot of fun out of it for me and my small corp.

I won't explore because that's just a death sentence - I'm just sitting in the space station learning stuff so maybe I can venture out one day. Right now it's not worth the monthly cost.

I guess my point is they took two of the biggest names in fantasy and turned them into crap. They had two cash cows and they failed to deliver any kind of quality to either title.

I can go on and on withwhat I think is wrong with D&D online - but lets just say that most agree that the game lacks something, hence the subs or lack there of.

How do you screw up D&D ? You can do anything!

If you think LotRO lacks quality, you've clearly played very very little of what is on the market. I may not have specifically fallen in love with LotRO, but one thing I can't deny is that what was they've delivered is a finished, polished product and have kept churning out content in such a state since its release.

How much do I need to play? I played all through beta and wouldn't buy the the game - you can now what? get the original and Mines for like 10 bucks? Sounds like quality to me -

I hate to be the one that says I told you so, but I told you so.

I told them way back in beta it's never going to work, but what do I know. Oh that's right they are now F2P
Tells you how well they know their customers, now the D&D elitist are going to run over by immature trailer park brats with no money to keep themselves busy in their “store” so they will go around ganking people and making life miserable for everyone that’s left.

Turbine pulls out gun, shoots foot.

Turbine, look back at the D&D beta boards, user name is the same – I told exactly this – and with your stupid LotRO online game to – exactly the same thing hanging on by a thread thanks to the Tolkien die hards, take his great name out and it wasn’t even a good try. Wasn’t even close to being the WoW killer you thought it was going to be.

This is what happens when you let businessmen run your gaming company.

this looks close to the mark. I agree that quest EXP could be a big bummer. Forced grouping in any way will make or break a game for me. I hate elites and quests that require a group to finish, I love that you can group, I just don't want to be forced into it.

73K a year is crap. Now they do say that its Average Game industry Salary, so all the support people are probably bringing it down a bit. Still though, I made that much fixing PC's.

Your bosses ought to be ashamed of themselves. :)

I agree to an extent. They shouldn't be punished or anything for trying to make the game better. Very few people have played this game longer than me, and I still think there are several things I would change. For one I'd change all the darn text you have to read in the game. I need pictures, in crayon please!

This game is still pretty fun, but at high levels gets pretty boring. They need to add some special missions at 40 plus. Good move and keep them coming!

Permadeath is dumb as most games stand right now. You can die way to easy and I really hated having to get  5 or 6 friends together just to get my body back. SIngle biggest reason I quit EQ 1 all those years ago. Too much interaction between players isn't all that and a bag of chips. No offense, but most of you aren't nice people and I don't care to talk to most of you! :)  ( no worries I think it' more of an age difference thing than anyone really not liking anyone else.)

Permadeath games? Have fun but they certainly won't get any of my money.

Say what you want this title is taking forever. Very few updates and what looks to be very little progress. Just updating the site once in a while would be cool.

Well I think it's because the higher level you get the game changes. You need to rely on other people/skills to continue. To be honest I have max'ed out a ton of characters but after about half way to cap it all becomes a grind and the game loses a lot for me. My first intro to this was level 20 in EQ. Boy was I suprised my "hero" fighter was getting his ass handed to him again and again. So I don't play games that aren't solo friendly. Not that I mind grouping, there's just not one always avalible.  Back to the point, with the way you have top play your character changes in order for you to be successful at that class, it kinda takes away all the good things I liked about playing that character to begin with.
The game isn't worth playing, that means that it isn't worth paying. To tkae a name like D&D and turn it into the crap they have, they ought to get their game making certificate taken away. No more games for you! I can't wait to see how the mess up LOTRO.
The game stinks pure and simple. Avoid it like the plague.
I played the beta until they shut it off. That was enogh for me. It was kinda like a fantasy City of Heros, only not as good. Doesn't seem to be any continuity to the game. Just one point of "action" after another. Forced grouping is freaking stupid! Those days are long gone, even EQ believes it. Yeah I give it a year, maybe a year and half just because of the name and all the hardcores out there.

They screwed up what could have been the best MMO out there. I just can't believe they missed the mark that bad. I mean hell, lets make another game I'll tell you how to make it better than you did, Turbine has yet to prove to me they can make a great game. Good thing their pockets are lined with Microsoft, otherwise they'd be broke.

Horrible,... just horrible

Can't say it enough, horrible

Turbine's game is horrible. This interview was horrible. Not only is it spin control on Turbines part, it does a terrible job.

Hard hitting questions just weren't there. The first question acts like it's addressing a problem, it's not. It's Turbine saying we thought we'd throw in some stuff that has nothing to do concerns brought up in the first review.

The second question is about epic items. You can't use epic items at level ten that are going to be worth anything. If You can, then you are cheating.

Third question is about money. Good question.

Fourth question, was that given to you by Turbine? Look! our death system is JUST like D&D PnP! Probably a question that had to be asked before Turbine agreed to do the interview.

The last question,(Yes there are only 5) is probably the only question listed worth asking and is about character customizing. They sure say they can change the look of a character, but not enough. The only colors are still yellow and brown.

I have to say it, one of the most important things to me aside from the grand adventure of exploration, combat and quests... is character customization.  I need to feel like a unique individual in whatever gaming realm I join.  Having read up on the articles for the game and the previews I can honestly say I won't be investing in this game.  I'm sure that it will be alot of fun for DnD fans, it just doesn't sound good for me.
Character customization, prey tell, which MMORPG gives the player the ability to create a unique individual cus I've never come across one :)

To say, “DDO for me was a major disappointment for me,” is like saying living on the Lunar Surface you might feel a little discomfort without a spacesuit. The lack of anything original, except the twitch fighting, the lack of the number of quest, the lack of any color other than brown and yellow, and just the plane lack of any feeling of exploring and of finding new and rich environment, left me stunned. It looks like they tried to make the City of Heroes of the fantasy MMORPG.

Quiet frankly, Turbine has dropped the ball with this one. This is Dungeons and Dragons. I'll let that sink in for a bit.

This is the father of everything fantasy, Lord of the Rings being the granddaddy. This "game" of theirs shows a lack of vision and shows Turbine's inability to know what kind of title they are dealing with. The game designers should be fired and working at Burger King next week. Sure, you're going to have fans of D&D shouting from the rooftops saying "This is the greatest game ever!" They will learn. Granted they follow 3.5 Rules fairly well, but the bottom line is the game is flat, and unappealing. Graphics and interface are sub-standard, quests are small and unimaginative, and on top of it you have to "re-do" these horrid quests to make a decent EXP/hour. They have a cap at level 10? Who are you kidding? This should be 20 and the first expansion should have Epic level content. Then again maybe they should keep it at level ten; with all the add-ons they might be able to make their money back. This is a complete and utter failure. This game should be scrapped and completely reworked, or put to the console and forgotten about. Turbine is going to get embarrassed again; I foresee an AC2 future for this game.

If I left anything out I'm sorry, it's probably just all the disgust I feel for this title.

Quite frankly, spellcheck is your friend.

QUITE frankly nice way to get your post count up without actually contributing anything
