What are your favorite sports teams?
Off-Topic Discussion « General Discussion 2/24/12 11:04:02 PM
Arkansas Razorback footbal, Razorback basketball, SEC football, SEC baseball, SEC basketball. Then the NFL comes in at a distant second with the Falcons and 49ers. Then NBA comes at an even more distant third with the Atlanta Hawks. Then MLB and Soccer are tied for a very distant last with the Cardinals and Chelsea. But honestly outside of college sports and the NFL I couldn't even tell you much of anyting about the goings on in the other sports, Honestly, my hate for the Lakers and Yankees ouweighs my love of any major league team. The NBA is a shit sportto begin with, full of lazy pieces of shit for the most part. I can respect the NFL and MLB players for giving a damn. |

I always go to 4chan when I'm in the mood for a good laugh.
Oh and NSFW if you don't frequent 4chan. |

For anyone that listens to rap music
Off-Topic Discussion « General Discussion 1/16/12 11:54:10 AM
No love for Anticon?
Why? cLOUDDEAD Doseone Subtle Reaching Quiet Themselves
If you haven't ever listed to Yoni Wolf (lead man for Why?) I'd highly recommend his album "Alopecia." I listened to it on repeat for about a year after it came out.
Also some other random off-beat rap: Doomtree Collective P.O.S Atmosphere Dessa Darling
And of course Southern rap beats the shit out of west coast or eas coast: Geurilla Maab (old Z-Ro collective with his cousin and some other dude. Download the SLAB'ed version (slow loud and bangin). HCP (Three 6 Mafia, Juicy J, T-Rock, Lord Infamous, Lil Wyte, Project Pat, Frayser Boy, Tear Da Club Up Thugs) And some random recommendations: Tyler the Creator Noah23 Cory Gunz Buck 65
And thank y'all for the lists. I was needing som new stuff to download. |

Insomnia in an apartment. What to do?
Off-Topic Discussion « General Discussion 9/20/11 2:46:44 AM
So I live in an apartment with fairly thin walls, but only have one neighbor adjacent to my unit. By thin I mean I can hear my neighbor pouring her cereal in the morning, baby crying, etc. She is a 20-something single mom with a baby.
I'm a very respectful neighbor. I keep my tv at a reasonable volume all the time, and even more reasonable after 10 or so. If friends are over I shush them if they start yelling. I don't slam doors. Etc etc etc. Anyway, tonight I can't sleep so I'm just going to stay up until work time. (I feel better on 0 hrs sleep than I do on 2-3 hrs sleep, and I'm sure I'm not the only one).
My question is: would it be inappropriate or inconsiderate for me to play a movie at 3 am? Open my loud ass back door to smoke? Or am I looking too far into this whole thing? I'm just not sure if I'm worrying about it too much or if it would be a dick move for me to do my own thing at a reasonable volume. |

Looking for new book, preferably a series
Off-Topic Discussion « General Discussion 9/20/11 2:37:50 AM
I'll mention the obvious and popular choices since they haven't been mentioned...Dark Tower series, Wheel of Time (granted, it fizzled to the point that I lost interest after book 6), Song of Ice and Fire.
Left field choice would be The Book of the New Sun series by Gene Wolfe.
I'm caught up at work so I've been tearing through books. Thanks for the recommendations folks. |

Game of Thrones: the most admirable character
Off-Topic Discussion « General Discussion 8/01/11 4:49:38 AM
In the books I'd go with Eddard.
As for the show, Tyrion and Vaerys. I always pictured him as a treachourous ass , but the portrayal in the show just \leads me to believe I misjudged the guy. |

How have you been sir? I log in about once a month nowadays for old times sake. Things are going well for me finally, Got my bachelors and have been working for the state doing SS disability determination. I got the proper help needed to kick my opiate habit, and bough a 360 and 46 inch Samsung in the last couple months. It's crazy how much money you have when you don't spend it all on drogas. Ph yeah, I had a 10 day hospital stint in February for acute pancreatitis, so now I can't even drink anymore. If someone had told me six months ago I'd be a sober Sally, I would've laughed my ass off, better known as LMAO. Today, I bought my pride and joy;
2007 Acura TSX, White w/ black leather interior. It's so fun having nice things.
So whatcha been up to? Haven't seen you around these parts in a while. |

As for cig smoking, I hate when prudes make me walk 25 feet from the entrance of the building to smoke my cig just because they don't want a faint whiff of smoke as they walk by. It's the same prudes that send anonymous e-mails griping about perfumes/deodorants etc, or bitch about what people are eating for lunch. They are the same people that hold their ears when an ambulance goes by. The only time griping about a smell is ok is if the person is morbidly obese and doesn'y shower, in which case I'll be the first to tell them to go change clothes and put some deodorant on. |

Wakenbake and shower anyone? No? Works for me. EDIT: missed your post bundejo. :) |

Your top 3 favorite sci-fi movies of all time!
Off-Topic Discussion « General Discussion 11/02/10 10:53:08 PM
I like responding to these topics late because you let everyone else remind you of the obvious favs that you may have forgotten. That being said, and after about 30 seconds of deep thought: 1. The Matrix (I swear every time I'm flipping through the channels and this is on, I end up finishing the movie.) 2. Alien (It baffles me that so many people prefer Aliens. The first movie had such a different vibe with the whole unknown factor that was completely lacking in Aliens. Honestly I preferred the third Alien to the second) 3. I'll give the third spot to Planet of the Apes. Movies that I'm not sure whether or not they are sci fi, but are worth mentioning: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind The Fountain A Clockwork Orange |

Barber shops have been around for decades, and are still around. Sportsclips has locations nationwide that allow you to watch football while you get a haircut. Am I missing something here or is this nothing new? |

Could you live in a mine for five months w/o going crazy?
Off-Topic Discussion « General Discussion 8/31/10 11:43:12 PM
I suppose greater men have been through worse. Mining's a dangerous business. You have to take on some risk to make almost as much money as someone with a degree. |
