It was bad enough when these kinds of games started trying to paw my wallet. This one trying to paw both my wallet and my crotch is going way too far.
I'd ask WTF these guys are smoking, but considering their past track record I'm pretty sure its a mixture of crack and bath salts.
I smell cinema gold. Ok actually I smell poligrip, gold bond powder, icyhot, adult diapers, and desperation.

I'm not sure console companies should bother to try. Let me explain. While I am not a console fan or owner I have no problem with the idea of MMOs being developed for them. However once you factor in the cost and the sheer amount of time it takes to create an MMO, unless the game company was very lucky, by the time their game makes it to launch the console or consoles, it was designed for are going to be getting a bit stale. It seems a very risky business.

I feel that if console makers want to branch out into different types of games I'd recommend something like MOBAs. Since they are easier, or at least quicker to create and seem to currently be wildly popular, possibly even more so than MMOs, I'd say that would be a far safer investment.

Well if this means they want to keep delivering content continually in bursts, rather than leaving a long drought between content releases with expanisons, sounds like a good thing for the players.

maybe its because WvW ended up being the only thing interesting at end game, but how is it not a drought yet?

I can understand where you are coming from, but I actually found WvW become stale rather quickly. I've just recently started playing the game again only this I'm playing it exclusively as a PVE game.

Ok so today I got my resolution email after about 4 back and forth emails. Quizzical was close in his response. Anet was having issue with my payment for some reason and blocked the account. While they do not go into why they felt their was possible unauthorized activity with the credit card, they have had that amount of money charged on my card since last Friday. Essentially what they say below is that the ban was in error and they are going to not bill be for the game (I assume this means a refund, however long that will take to reflect on my account)

Here is their final response on the matter:

This game account was temporarily blocked by our billing system due to possible unauthorized credit card activity. I have reviewed this Guild Wars 2 game account and have determined that there is no cause for this account to be blocked for this reason. As a result of this temporary block, the recent transaction was voided and not billed to the credit card on file and the serial code was disabled.

At this time, the game account has been released and is now available to have a new serial code applied to it

I have used this same card many times for many purchases over the past year without incident until now.

I am glad it was no fault of mine, nor was I hacked but I just wish this company would invest in a phone support system for faster resolution of issues like this.

Now to decide if I want to purchase the game again.

Thanks for all the responders.

Well that's a bit strange, but at least you got the problem resolved.

Well if this means they want to keep delivering content continually in bursts, rather than leaving a long drought between content releases with expanisons, sounds like a good thing for the players.
So reguardless whether the game has actual depth or not, its main selling point seems to still be titillating pixels. Sounds yawnarrific. Sorry Scarlet Blade, but when it comes to sexy pixels, I get my kicks above the waistline, sunshine.

Some of these potential changes sound interesting. Some of the things I really like:

- Crafting being able to modify existing items

- Legendary items being more powerful and finding ilvl 63 versions of all uniques and sets sound cool

- Fewer number of rare items but more powerful

- Identify all button!

I completely agree! :)

On a personal side note: As for those refusing to buy Heart of the Swarm, that's just 'cutting off your nose to spite your face' and rather childish. To miss out on a potentially great game because knickers got twisted over another game's fetaures is just...goofy. :P

Sorry but I whole heartedly disagree. You've stated you quite enjoy D3 so for you the idea of giving Blizzard more money isn't an issue. However there are quite a few of us out there that feel Blizzard did a rather poor job with D3 mainly due to them putting their own profits first rather than making a great game first, like they used to do.

So as a long term Blizzard fan the state of D3 at launch badly damaged my customer confidence in that company. Which means I'm done throwing them my money for anything as long as it looks like they have the potential to keep releasing products substandard to what they could be making. And if not buying their games is the only way to get their attention, or at the very least remove my anxiety that I'm continuing to support a company that takes my fandom and money for granted, then that's what I'm going to do. Its my money and my choice. If that for some reason bothers you, then frankly you need to get over it as it isn't your decision to make.

I have not bought it, but I find a 30 min line to play a single player game hilariously terrible.

I'm curious about how many of the people that rail against EA and like the Sim City series still went and bought this game.

I'm a big fan of the series and I have played almost every Sim City that came out, but this Origin crap was the last straw for me with that company.

I'd be willing to bet quite a few.

Where do you live that half your rent money is 200$. And im pretty sure everyone knew this game was gonna be brutal. I haven't even taken a second look at it since first impression.

Funnily enough 200$ is half the rent for where I'll be living next autumn when I start my Master's XD

Lol its a pretty good deal not gonna lie. Good luck with your masters.

-bows head- thank you, and just to make it funnier that's with all the utilities factored in (heat, water, electricity and internet) ^^

And the creepy unwashed neighbor who continuously mutters to himself, also factored in.

Can't say I'm very much suprised. Don't very much care as Maxis lost me as a customer back when they released the ridiculously content gutted, yet mysteriously still full priced The Sims 3.

However I do have to ask how this kind of so called protection saves these companies any money. Sure they will probably stop people from pirating their game, but what about the added development cost of extra personnel to create and maintain the servers, which will have to continue to be maintained the entire lifespan of the game, and the inevitable flood of angry support tickets and calls the support staff have to handle when things like the server queues happen.

In my personal experience people who pirate affordable items such as games and music never intended to become a customer in the first place so these DRM measures do not effect them. Sadly however actual customers who feel they are being asked to jump through pointless hoops to play a game they've already payed for have a high potential to become ex-customers.

If they read you're history they will see my point about the syndrome. It's not the game I don't like so much as the poor management that has taken over the patching of this game. It had great potential in the beginning but they let things like Dungeoneer/Raiders demands dictate how they should proceed and they also failed to learn anything from mmo history regarding what works and what doesn't work. It's obvious none of them are gamers or they wouldn't have used things like DR in their game, at least one of them would have remembered how that destroyed many a title in the past. Guess large sums of money really does go to their heads.

Also, if you read far enough back you can see how I too was once ensnared by the Stockholm Syndrome but eventually was freed from it. Now I'm free to determine what really is wrong with a title without those rose tinted glasses.

I see... so you hold the only truth, and all those of us who happen to enjoy the game since beta and still have as much fun playing it today as we had on day one are wrong and somehow victims of the "Stockholm Syndrome".

Of course you are. Anyone who claims to play MMORPGs these day because they happen to enjoy them is highly suspicious and must be up to something.

Thanks for the fast reply. My toon name was Voodieu so I don't see how that can be offensive. I mad a second toon that I only played for the initial walkthrough but did not play it and like the other name it was not anything offensive in any way.

. Like I mentioned I did not talk to anyone in game, not even once. Didn't buy gold or anything silly like that either.

I did verify my account initially via email when I set it up. I had to in order to login initially.

I am glad to hear they are fast, was looking forward to playing a little tonight...

I ran into a very similar issue a couple of days ago. Got kicked off in the middle of the Shadow Behemoth event and then got the notification I had to rename my character before I could log back in. Sent in a support ticket and was told the rename was an error on their part and let me use my original character name. They responded fairly quickly and were quite polite so I'm happy. Not sure exactly why the heck it happend though. I'm guessing either an automated protection feature on the fritz or someone abusing the report name feature out of mischief.

Thanks for this info.

And hey I am a big fan of Johnny Dangerously. I often use their swears "fargin" etc LMAO.

LOL Nice! Its one of my all time favorite films.

"In part of our shift to Mobile, we obviously will be shifting resources around to work on our current projects, like Ultima Forever, or some of our new projects and prototypes.  Sadly I can't really give you any skinny on those at the moment, but rest assured, we will as soon as we can."

Yep great idea guys. Keep following those trends hoping to get a first class tricket on the next gravy train without really knowing WTF you're doing. How about you hire some people with some actual ideas that can make games that are entertaining on any platform, rather than your current method which is to just fling shit at the latest cash cow and hoping something sticks.

Trion really did wonders and is probably best MMO company aside from Turbine - but the shit simply can not fly...

Want proof ? Just log into SWTOR , i bet their population quadrupaled at least - and most of players I talked with are subscripbers too.

Wait what? So people being subscribers in a Themepark MMO is proof that the P2P MMO is a thing of the past?

Ok... i gonna try re download the game e_e, or re install minimal.

I don't recommend a reinstal. I've had this same issue with STO and its not a game problem. Its a patcher traffic issue on their end.

Logged into the game on saturday to see if it felt worth trying out the Storm Legion expansion. Every server I had charcters on were ghost towns. I'm thinking that the expansion didn't go over as well as hoped and this is just fall out from that. Its also possible that Trion is shifting its focus to Defiance and Aion so there isn't much for the Rift crew to do.
