And I can flat out GUARANTEE I have more experience with AV than anyone on these boards, and following their actions over the past 6 weeks I can honestly say that I believe they are going to continue to improve DFUW until it is completely optimized, bug free, and filled with content.

I know TONS of people who are so bitter about DF1 that they refuse to play DFUW, and that is their choice.  I've always been very critical of AV, hell you should see some of the things I posted on the DFUW beta boards, but as of now I feel like they are a different company.

How can you just shrug off the fact that they killed freedom and gravitated towards themepark systems due to investors? How did they kill freedom?  Are you locked into a role?  Was it due to investors, or simply the fact that only 100's of people remained?

Wanna attack that person? NOPE! You're in a safezone! Wanna be robe-wearing warrior badass monk? NOPE! Your character simply refuses to put on anything not in his class.  Then switch roles.  It will take you a lot longer to be viable though, but that was the way things were in DF1 so it should be right up your alley.

NOTE: EVEN F2P ASIAN AGE OF WUSHU DOESN'T HAVE SAFEZONES, LOL.  Then don't go in the safe zone.  The map has shrunk a bit, but it is still bigger than most other games out there.  PS, the sub payment method is better than the cash shop method.

Sure they'll fix most of the stuff and add content but by that time another biggy themeparky title like Archeage will roll out and/or DFUW will slowly perish as more indy sandbox games near their release, many have chosen to go the open world sandbox route - e.g Origins of Malu, Embers of Caerus, The Repopulation, hell I bet Camelot will be a good one too.   Competition is good.  Bring it on.

This is our time, people. And I'll be damned if I let some fanboys turn this community into supportive slaves of a company that lacks innovation. AV is just looking to make a quick buck, everyone knows how AV treats their loyal fanbase and no I don't expect them to change just like I don't expect a rapist to stop raping.   You sound mad.

Response.

I'm actually happy as shit after a fat bowl. Just glad to be living in this era of freedom, m'man!

And you tell me to "just switch roles". LOL as if navigating through several menus and having to stand still for 30 seconds and wait  just to switch clothing or gear is generally acceptable nowadays. Hilarious.

^ Wrong. Last year of DFO levelling was perfect 4x skill they could of made it 8x for this game and no grind would be needed but instead chose to substitute EVERYTHING with the prowess system, completely removing organic levelling. You can literally not take a shot with a bow ever in the game and have 100 archery. How is this logical, or even better?

Grind difference is still huge, newbies already getting owned by people with 100k prowess.

Furthermore the feats are all just "kill x mobs" stolen right from your favorite themepark.

They dumbed it down in every possible way. Classes, no funhulks, less mounts, worst UI ever seen in a PC game, safe zones, this is not Darkfall anymore.

Wait for a real sandbox.

This is an example of someone upset they no longer have the scripting advantage. You might not want to ask old DF players about how well they like this game. I can tell you that every DF player I've talked to who were not scripters love DFUW.

..

I just said all they needed to do was reduce the grind and make the UI a but easier, not start the whole game from scratch and let Tork Shaw create a new console UI.

They were right in removing bunny-hopping and reducing grind, everything else is a mess.

Maybe you're just mad you're paying for a paid beta. Half of the classes are not even complete and the game is missing dungeons even, and you sit there and tell me people love DFUW.

Ok, here is the thing. 2 thirds of the human population is Extroverts. 1 third of the human population is Introverts. 1 third of humans do not gain energy by interacting with people, it takes energy. 1 third of humans get tired by interacting with people and gain energy by spending time alone, or close to alone. Introverts understand extrovert people since they are the norm, everything is built and created to cater to extrovert people with social hubs entering... well, EVERYTHING... so they do not have to spend 5 seconds of thier life feeling alone. Introverts know this, try to live with this and adapt to it

Extroverts on the other hand, think introverts are crazy people. If you are introvert, you belong in an insane asylum and hsould not be allowed to walk ont he streets. it is considered a flaw, a disease, a broken human being.. 1/3 of the human population.

You know when people talk about norms and how minority groups are ignored or mistreated by the majority? Those minority groups are normally about 2-10 percent of the population and the outrage is loud and furious. At the same time, those same people watch 1/3 of the human population being ignored and mistreated daily, and not a word is spoken in protest. If you go for a job interview and tell the manager you are an introvert. You will not get the job. Ever.

One of the funny little things about humans.. if you are a gay asian zen cricket player with a speech impediment, you will get all sorts of understanding and kindness, and people will go out of their way to help you have a good life. If you are part of 1/3 of all humans, you will have to hide for the rest of your life, because you are considered sick in the head.

So there.... that is why you do not want to be in a guild and spend all your time talking... and that is why people that love guilds think you are a flipping retard. They will never understand anything but other extroverts and always treat 33% of the human population as lesser, sick individuals.

And no, i am not making this up.

I know you're not making it up. You've hit the nail on the head we live in an extroverted world which takes effort from introverts like me (and maybe yourself) which drains us quickly. We're lost in our thoughts and imaginations and perceive too much that sometimes its a bit overwhelming.

However, that will change soon enough. Japan's population is mostly introverts, and as we progress through technology and the virtual world that scale will tip towards our favor. I'm saying 100 years until it happens.

I liked my introverted journey as a solo player in DFO because there were chaos cities, and each city had a story or notorious local beast at pvp with crazy stats.

There was also the ability to team up with your race to take down others, so it's like you actively participated in clan wars with your own kind, and could actually probably team up with some humans to hunt down some alfars - NO CLAN REQUIRED to participate in these small scale wars.

Now that is gone from DFUW and everyone attacks everyone and its so streamlined I kinda hate it, although the full loot is good.

You miss so much content as a solo player.  It's like playing WoW but never leaving the newbie area because you don't want to.

See above. Used to be you could be a clanless small scale warfare type. Now it's FFA deathmatch with no alignment, and no penalties.

Judging from your tone and characteristics, I'd say you are one of those little tweens.  Nobody is forcing you to join a clan, but you're missing out on 75% of the game which is PvP and Sieging and capturing cities/villas etc. which can only be done via clan activity.  If you want to play the game solo PvE, then do it, but I don't expect you to dish out on the game or other players because they aren't catering to your solo needs.

P.S.   People are able to talk so much because maybe they have friends.  You should try to make some sometime, might make you feel better than this sourpuss attitude you got going for you.

Yeah since tweens hold down full time jobs and DO NOT want to troll people...lol.

I understand real life friends. Go to work, get together with real life friends later, then on top of that you need VIRTUAL friends to come home to as well? Get the hell out of town and take a shuttle.

I've been hearing this for the past month.

some random: you idiot, you can't solo DFUW, go join a clan!

me: but I don't want to...

some random: then go play Skyrim noob.

Yeah....here's the thing. That's flawed logic. In DFO it was WAY easier and possible to solo the game, which just made it more deep. The people who joined clans did that and the solo players lived in chaos cities and liked small scale pvp and had 1v1 and 1v2s.

Now with all the crap that AV changed I can barely solo in this game because combat is too slow to outplay someone 1v2 or 1v3, etc.

Since when can't you enjoy small scale solo play in an MMO? Maybe I want to come home from work and relax and not talk to anyone after my voicebox hurts like ass from all the customer interaction at my job. Maybe I don't want to join mumble or help some unknown clan build a city.

How do clanned people talk so much anyway? They talk all day to people at work, then come home and want to interact more with some teens? Are you serious? Does this game appeal to loudmouthed brats and sociopaths exclusively?

I wish there was some sort of clan you could join that was silent and expected nothing from you, because this clan shit feels like a second job and I'm surprised at how social some players are.

I'll stick to this game, and trying to climb to the top slowly....

exactly, this game feels a lot better without rushing.

In past 5 years I hopped one game to another, played 20 different MMOs. It's time to settle down, AOW is my bitch now.

Yeah but the thing is after logging onto White Tiger the game has already pretty much been ruined by gold sellers and spammers - when the economy relies on them to get inflated its a pretty bad thing. I mean it was noticeable on Blue Dragon but its actually laughable.

Because people ARE using them.

Just sayin'. Never settle with a F2P game.

But does the game or movement of our character still run choppy and not smooth as, like say, a world of warcraft type smooth?

This is a major turn off for me for DF. The game just isnt smooth and just feels to clunky/stuttery even though my pc is very nice for gaming.

The big factor I've noticed when people complain about this is lack of vram.

People with 1 gig video cards get the choppiness (my old one was 1 gig and I got it).  Now I have 3 gig card and don't get the chopiness at all.

That's cute.

You realize a modded Skyrim with HQ texture packs only needs 1-1.5GB to run smoothly right?

You realize that Unholy Wars barely has 1/20 of those visuals?

You realize that AV just has a lazy shitty engine right?

Skyrim is an MMO?

MMOs require 3GB for netcode?

So after the whole Blue Dragon incident and after Snail opened up 2 more servers I've kind of lost interest in AoW. Maybe it's because I'm not excited about logging onto Blue Dragon anymore since it's lost its spark, and don't really feel like starting a new char just to have to run all those TV/GCC again lol.

That said with the upcoming launch coming up for UW and the supposed decent combat changes I am wondering if Agon will feel like a more sandboxy world?

Sounds to me like somone ran out of development funds.

but...they said shortly after launch! av is known for meeting deadlines on a consistent basis.

these will all of course be added after. discuss.

I love how seasoned gamers try to come up with games that have better housing. Let's go through that shall we.

Mortal Online

Game is in its dying stage. Housing does not matter due to exploits early on.

Istaria

Im not even going to say anything.

Darkfall UW

Oh you mean the static houses that are around the map? Yeah, its not better than OOM if its static.

UO

Agreed but its an old game. Moot point.

Xyson

Heavy sandbox...not many still play.

Wurm

Old.

That said this is one of the few upcoming games that will have a beta. Say all you want about archage and black desert but they dont even have a beta.

Check out the forums, the developers are so involved with the community its amazing. If they can deliver on even half of what they promise - player driven faction, content, pvp, SWG style crafting, housing, sandbox gameplay, dynamic ai, epic bosses - Ill be a happy man.

Nice writeup!

Myself, I decided it was a good day to use my alchemist workshop (evil laugh). My plan was to make the best medicine for Jianghu that money could buy!

200L later I ended up with all the ingredients needed. So, I began my ventures to Yanjing and my first time operating a workshop.

^ Me standing beside my gigantic cauldron

While enjoying the Yanjing countryside I managed to make a ton of hearty hp meds for my future PvP endeavors. Good times.

And how do you think I am a hater to begin with? I was willing to spend money to buy Deluxe package, I spent over 3 months in BETA TEST. Tell me, oh defender of Snail.

The answer is easy, because broken promises and undelivered rewards couple with oh THEY LIE again and again.

Ahh yes, I spout complain, but let's see THEY ARE ALL REAL. Those complaint are valid and Snail did nothing, people defend them.

Snail is a greedy company and so are many others companies. And your point is? You are telling me because some companies are GREEDY, we shouldn't complaint about it and just pretend nothing happen? Nice logic there.

The game has potential, but telling me the current state of the game full of bugs/errors and forcing to pay for BETA is awesome, you show your true color of Snail's apologist.

LOL nice trolling from a AoW hater. Hey, every game has a couple.

Playing the beta card. Well guess what that doesn't fly around here brother, its one of the smoothest and funnest betas I've ever played. Game was already finished pretty much in China before it started in NA.

Throughout the beta I've experienced MINIMAL downtime (servers up 24/7), literally not 1 crash ever, more content than I can test, optimized graphics, and few if any game-changing bugs aside from the translation.

So don't call it a beta when it's more retail-ready than some MMOs I know that have already launched. Go play Mortal Online. That's a real beta post-launch.

Why can't you sheeples see that TESO will just be another disappointing GW2?! WHY?! Am I the only one?

Archeage for me, because beta has confirmed its a good game.

I just saved your life.

Dont come back crying after TESO is a huge letdown like GW2 was...geeee who saw THAT one coming? But every year the hype train grows stronger.

Age of Wushu until Archeage.  It shouldn't be complicated.

Giving wushu a try right now.

I believe they didn't westernise it too much and the game is refreshing. Combat are INDEED a little clumsy in the beginning but I didn't go far for now and I don't know yet how enjoyable the "flying" fights are. First hour or two in the game are a little rude if you never played an eastern MMO but nothing a normally crafted brain can't handle.

Yeah, disregard everything until you choose a school. Everything that happens before then is a tutorial and a joke. Then do what you want, this game gives you freedom. Regardless of bad translation or setting, you have FREEDOM and PLAYER CONTROLLED ACTIVITES!

Wanna be a bandit? Go ahead. Wanna be a police constable? Yup. Wanna just farm all day and sell wares on the market? Sure!

My day is always different. Its refreshing. Yesterday I hunted down a guy who broke the law and sent him to jail. Got a nice bounty to pocket to boot. Took that money and bought some food that will last long time. Life is great.

Combat grows on you. Its as fun as Street Fighter. Furthermore even without combat chases can be intense with the flying skills. You can literally get away from people if you use the environment well enough. I've had plenty of those types of encounters. You turn the corner and the guy is gone. It feels like a movie sometimes.

So, just so I have this straight, can someone actually explain this system to me? If I go out and PK someone my own level, what happens? Is the jail time penalty only for killing low level players?

If it's only a penalty for killing low level players, I'm all on board about maybe trying this game out. If you have to spend real game time sitting in a jail cell though for PvPing people your level though, no thanks.

You sound like you're threatening not to play or something.

It's a great system regardless of your opinion on same level PKing. I don't even see how that has anything to do with it.

No matter the level, you can attack anyone and if you gank them they can put a bounty on your head. So you can PK 100 people your level and get nothing, or you can PK a pissed off guy who puts a 100L bounty out for you. In that case if police catch you, you go to jail. If they don't, you don't.

OP what do you want me to do next? Star in a japanese massage porn flick?

What kind of laughable request is this. TERA is a game for braindead midwestern WoWers, so if you don't live in Virginia or Oklahoma avoid this game at all costs unless you initially wanted a lobotomy.

Its free, the worst that could happen is you uninstall the game, the best that could happen is that you actually enjoy some of the mechanics in the game and play it either to pass some time till your next prefered MMO comes out.

But it doesn't deserve anyone's time, ever.

The fact is that you could be stimulating your mind with more exciting games.
