So in my opinion it is as good if not better than WOWS new expansion, and EQ2 gets a new expansion every year. WOW got 2 expansions since release. |

Returning after a few years and have some questions
The Tavern (General) « Everquest II 9/27/08 12:55:58 AM
I will try and answer your questions. The Unrest server is still there, although it is only a pve server. so yes chances are good that your old toons would still be there. Since you stated that you want to play on the pvp server then you would probably need to start a new toon on that server. Since I don't think your allowed to transfer an alt between pve to pvp. As for pvp, as soon as you reach level 10 you can participate in pvp. You can only battle players of the opposing allignment. and all zones are pvp even in the city if you flag for that part of it. Once you leave the city you are safe for a few seconds that no one can attack you (which I think is 10 sec). And although you it is not full looting, you will get some loot from them, which will come in a dropped chest.
As for how you sell items. No, you don't need to remain logged on now to sell. Just buy a couple of boxes, or sales crates. and place them in your merchant board in your house. If it is a sales crate, once you place it in your merchant board right click on it and select place. then you can place it in your house so players can come buy from you without paying the broker fee. You might want to check out eq2,wiki.com for any help with quests items etc. It is a great site. also get the map updater from eq2interface.com it comes very handy to have. I hope you enjoy your stay. and have fun |

I gave it a 5. While the game was fun for a bit and I enjoyed the PQ's I thought the graphics and rvr where blah. Unless your in a good guild. Chat is not there, so makes the game less than what it could be. |

What do you look for/expect when you log onto an MMO for the first time?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 9/21/08 1:41:43 AM
Like the op my first thing I look at is the avatars and customization. My toon needs to look good for me. Then once in game I look at the world around me. Then I focus on the ui and the ease to costomize it (move to my likings). Then I like to check the movement and combat of the toon. Now as far as War is concerned and this is just my opinion. The character creation was lacking big time. not much to costomize. And I don't like how the armor looks painted on. As for the world I thought it looked good, not great mind you but good, Even though it is suppose to be a war there could have been a little more brightness to it. I liked the UI thought it was easy to use and move around to my liking. For movement and combat, the animations just seem off. It was like the devs just didn't know how humans elf,s and especially drawfs move. They loped when they ran. sorry just didn't do it for me. Combat I found was not to bad. I made a white Lion and a Archmage. The white lion was fun to play anc combat arts and combat swings looked good. The archmage spell casting seemed off though, like he didn't know how to use his hands. Now I'm taking my judgment from open beta, but because of it I won't get the game even though the game was fun. I need the look to match. But that is just my opinion Enjoy

Game update 49 to bring dramatic leveling speed increase for 20-70
The Tavern (General) « Everquest II 9/21/08 12:43:20 AM
I'm not so sure this increased leveling speed is a good thing. Seems more and more people just want to get to end game and for what? I have been on EQ2 for over 3 years now and don't have a single alt at max level 80. I'm getting close but not there yet. What is so great about rushing to the end, there is so much content that if the leveling was slower, there could be more people around to group and enjoy the adventure. When you get to max level you get what? Grouping/raiding the same content day after day? Wow how boring is that? Then you get the complainers that say there is nothing to do. I see a lot of posts in the forums on this site for people wanting "Sandbox" games with no levels. So for them there would be no end game. Well that can happen here if you take your time and enjoy the game for what it is.... A Fantasy MMORPG. EQ2 has been great with all the free updates for all levels, and a new expansion every year. If you took your time and enjoyed the adventure, think how long you could play this game before getting burnt out because you have nothing to do. Well my guild mates and I will figure a way to enjoy all the content at our pace like we have done since we started playing..... That is slowly. So enjoy that faster leveling. In my opinion it is not the correct way to go. |

Why wouldn't you want a player driven "sandbox"
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 8/30/08 7:31:54 PM
Personally I think any game is what you put into it. For example I play a level based game, but to me it is close to what has been described as a sandbox. I can craft, adventure, explore, we have housing. player run econonmy (I think most games have that in one form or another). Since I like to explore more than anything else, I can. For me it is fun to run the higher level zones, and not get killed. it is also fun to go to the lower level zones, and find things I missed the first time through. People who say that a in a sandbox game you need to use your imagination, and I agree you do. but the same holds true to linear based games, especially the roleplayers. You still need to imagine your that race/class and what you do has a meaning. and I think for most people it does. Since most sandboxes have some form of pvp and I do know it is fairly popular. I say that the majority of those playing mmo's would just rather play a pve game. Maybe a little pvp would be fun for most, but not quite what has been talked about in sandbox games. As far as Skilled based, I have a problem with that as far as it pertains to fantasy based games. I am a big fan of fantasy books, and I have never read a book where you could be all things except for paladins, and that is a class :). other than that every books hero was what they were either a warrior, rogue, mage, or a healer of some type. I personally don't think you should combine abilities via skills. For Sci-fi I have no restrictions, I think it is very possible to have varied skills. But as to why people may like linear games (You know the hand holding games) Is after a hard day at work/school etc. and the stress of everyday living, they just want to go play a game with others of like mind. They don't want to worry about politics in a game, or so much of a challenge where it feels like work. But this is just my opinion.

Poll - What kind of adventuring content do you have the most fun with?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 8/22/08 1:41:19 PM
I vote, Solo,
Reasons, Solo I can chose where to go and what to do, I enjoy just exploring and finding a nice setting and admire the view. I enjoy the challenge of trying to take on stronger mobs, and testing my skill. I also enjoy grouping, but find the challenges not to be as good as solo, but do enjoy the company and laughs that can be had. Don't like what is called raids, They are just multi- group content, not really a true raid, which would have members of the raid party doing other tasks then just fighting what the rest are. |

I understand that the graphics can't be realistic, due to the lag it would cause during large scale seiges. All I'm asking is it not to look like Wow's. I also understand they are going for an art direction from the original games. All I would like to see is graphics comparable to say Guild Wars, where there is large pvp areas and I still get no to little lag and yet don't look cartoonish. And I think it is possible to have the graphics and art mesh very well together. How ever they do it is how they do it, I'm just hoping it is something I can get immersed in. As far as I have seen so far, that is not likely,at least for me. Cause I think it can be a great game. I'm looking for something to replace EQ2 which I have been in for 3+years now, so that is starting to get old and I want something new and different. But I need the graphics to pull me into it, besides the game play.
Here is hoping I'm wrong. /fingers crossed.

In my opinion, with how much technology we have now, the graphics should improve. Even if the game play is awesome, if I can't get past the graphics I won't play it. But so far I like what else I hear about this game and so hoping for the best.

EverQuest II: Game Update 47: Storm Break Preview
News Discussion « General Discussion 7/18/08 6:18:13 PM
The ONLY thing on this list I cannot do with Ventillo is the G15 intergration...and honestly, I don't know too many people that use the G15...This is just another piece of crap that is going to hog my computer's resources, add lag to the game and not be used by most people. Most raid guilds already have a vent or TS server set up for their use....which works just fine and is customized for their use....Maybe if this had been included at release it would be nice, but it's a waste of bandwidth, hardrive space and developer's efforts....and SOE money....which of course they get from US
By the way, do you kiss you mother with that mouth? You sound like a 13 year old...can't make a point without insults or explatives? Well Ohreally, Oh wise one, Or should i just call you by your proper name... Mr. Troll. As you can see I don't post often, so when I do is because I feel the need to speak my mind, and this is one of those times. First of all I checked all your posts and they are all trolling statements, Whoopee. you don't like the game.Get over it. To say your stating your opinion is false, you are trying to sound like they are facts, which I'm sure you know full well are not facts. As far as update 47 is concerned, My guild has tried Teamspeak, and Ventrilo,an in mine and my opinion, they sound like talking on a cb radio and not very customizable. With Vivox we will have a nice claer sound. I have tried it on test and enjoy it very much. In later updates they will be adding voice fonts meaning we can really role play our avatars, and they will sound like the race we are.No one will be required to use it, will it be in the patch? yep. But name me one game that allows what you patch or don't patch. None as far as I know. And your statement that the players are leaving in droves. What a crock, the population always fluctuates. and I have had no problem finding plenty of players on my server. Oasis. I have and do play other mmo's also, And the difference on how the devs treat the clientell is well....None. Yep you got it, all these mmo's out here are here for one thing, to make money. As far as eq2 is they are doing a decent job, could it be better? Of course it could, but that holds true for all the mmo's out here. Just because there is something you don't like about the game. Does not give you the right to troll, If you really wanted to voice your opinion, then say your opinion, but stop making it seem like you have the facts, cause surely you don't. So on that note, Have a nice day |

Left Behind - The "Rapture" of MMO's.

They do say go enjoy what the world has to offer, and it is up to us the player base to figure out how we want to play in it. I am always seeing players saying "You need to get to end game for (fill in the blanks)", but never the devs. But once all these players who rushed to end game and find little to do, then they cry for more content, so the devs are forced to provide the content or lose players. So because of this the new player base, always seems like they are left behind. So they rush to catch up to the rest and it becomes a cycle, not a good one mind you but one none the less. So In my opinion if players would just slow down and enjoy the games for what they are.... A fantasy world, then I think most new players would not feel left behind. I have been playing EQ2 now for over 3 years, and still don't have a toon at max level. I enjoy the world and the story and people in it. Almost everyone in my guild is like me, and yes, we are small because of this. Weare all more interested in the story and living fantasy lives then rushing to end game. We enjoy our times playing, and to us that is all that matters. I'm not saying there is a right way to play just that there should be different ways to enjoy the game with out listening to the ones in a rush to end game.
Sorry about the rant. But feels good to say the things I said |

Hi, You could always play more than one race, When the trial first starts, you had to make a fae, but if you relog to character select screen then you have the option to play the other races. But for now, if you did the trial a few months ago, you can download the whole game including the latest expansion and be able to play any race/class. and go beyond the trial of level 10. Go to this website and under get the game choose reinstall EQ2. to get the whole game. http://everquest2.station.sony.com/
Then if you like the game, and subscribe I believe you get the the whole game as it is now for free. So I hope you did give it another try.
Enjoy

You can also try Archlord which has pvp and pretty low system requirements and is f2p.
I tried it and it is not a bad game. I just can't play more than one mmo at a time, and don't have time for that one right now. |
|

Hi,
To answer your question there are a couple of mmo's that might satisfy you.
You can try World of Warcraft which can be done solo till higher lvls.
Or you can try Everquest 2 Which has a lot of solo content that can be done in the time your alotted to play, I have been playing EQ2 for 4 years now, and find it very casual. A lot of players in my guild only play maybe one or two days a week. Some play only on weekends. So in my opinion it might be the best. But I am Biased :) Check them both out, they have free trials you can do to see if you like them. |

I have been EQ2 for 3 years now, and my friends Warden and my Shadow night work great together. shadownights have lifetaps and decent dps, and with the wardens heal over times and his decent damage. we have little problems duoing. Another combo is Swashbuckler/Inquisitor. Swashbucklers with the right AA can tank quite well with the inquisitor's heals and debuffs. and Swashbucklers are better aoe the brigands.
Just an opinion, But it works for us. |
