Naw, US isn't as bad. We atleast have real-live humans playing. |
|

Yeah, that happens in every game, if you haven't noticed. You can turn off that part of the messages to that it isn't as annoying.
Still has lots to do, and once you turn 20 (I'm 2 weeks away), you can choose to do a rebirth that resets your level and age for free, but you keep your stats and skills. |

I still say to give Mabinogi a shot. The graphics may seem a bit cartoony, but they are no-where near as Disney-Channel cartoony as WoW, and there is so many things that you can do. |

Originally posted by Joarnaj Biggest MMO Ever my ass. WoW is a piece of shit clone of the glory days MMO's. That is a true, well-known fact, mate.
Now which games would be up for Biggest MMO Ever (BME), that list would be pretty short, I mean, obviously Ultima Online, EverQuest, Dark Age of Camelot, Asheron's Call, Runescape, and Eve Online. Beyond those, I'm not sure what other titles would be up for consideration for BME, but certainly not WoW. |

I'd say, with a history of loving Runescape, to give Mabinogi a try. it is basically the same as Runescape in that you have many other skills to unlock and level up, and of course there is fighting monsters, but really, like it says in advertisements and on the games website, it is a virtual life that you are playing. |

Well, not sure what I can find in this short time, but just doing a wikipedia search for "non-instanced dungeons" I found Mabinogi which I remember playing some time ago. It might quell my boredom for the time, while I try to find something else entertaining.
Or until FFXIV comes out. So hope no instance dungeons. |

Ok, basically I'm looking for a new MMO that has non-instanced dungeons, very good character customization, not just in looks, but in game with stats, skills, and items, and if possible, a good community.
Oh, and most important, IT DOESN'T BABY-SIT THE PLAYER FROM LEVEL 1 TO THE LEVEL CAP LIKE WOW! |

Dark Age of Camelot: What if... Dark Age of Camelot 2

Originally posted by Garvon3 Umm, dude, look at the italics underlined part, and do a face-palm, please? Mythic is the company that MADE DAoC! It's just that the team has changed since the early years. If the old crew were to make a new DAoC with a different name, under a different company, then I'm sure that we would have what everyone these days likes to call "WoW-Killer". |

Final Fantasy XIV: FFXI to FFXIV – Jurassic Park to The Lost World
News Discussion « General Discussion 4/16/10 6:02:37 PM
Now wait, if I'm not mistaken, XIV is taking place on a different "planet" than XI. XI, as we all know, being held in Vanadiel, but XIV, again as we all know, being held in Hydaelyn. Yes, they have the same characters, but it's a different landscape. |

Half of these comments by you guys actually made me giddy. Though that idiot, Wizardry, you really don't understand what they were trying to do, and how long this game has been out for. Like, the graphics are better than that sorry excuse for an MMO, WoW, so don't complain about the graphics. And really, when trying to bash a game, you have to give more concrete evidence than idle comments of your own. That way it gives us, the knowledgeable players, a real chance to knock out your rant. |

Actually, Perfect World International is out of beta, has been since September, as Ozmodan said, and it should have it's status changed from being in beta to being Live. |

General: Massey: Accessible Subscription MMOs?
News Discussion « General Discussion 7/05/09 12:17:46 PM
Sorry, but I am massively annoyed by the fact that you just compare all the games to WoW. It's really annoying, especially since the fact that most people these days say the WoW was the first MMO. Umm, hello? Anyone in that empty shell you call a head? Have you not heard of Everquest, nor Dark Age of Camelot? I've never played Everquest my own self, but DAoC was my very first MMO, and from what little time I have spent on my friends WoW character, I have to say, it really disappoints in comparison with DAoC. I know, I'm taking what you, Dana, said in comparing games with WoW, and just comparing WoW with DAoC, but really, what else is there I can do. DAoC and Mythic know how to keep their players entertained. DAoC may have some more realistic graphics, but you know what, they run really well on Windows 95, and if I'm not mistaken, that would be the kind of computer thrown off the back of a truck in the past 5 years. So please, in your next rant about games or whatever, don't compare everything to a half-good game like WoW. They didn't create the generation, they just popularized it with Blizzards many followers. Take a note from the old school. Give love to Everquest, DAoC, UO, and any other pre-WoW games. |

Cid: What role will he play this time!?
General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV 6/25/09 6:28:40 AM
Yeah, dude, all that information is well and great, but it's way too obvious to real FF fans. I mean, I know I don't need to visit the Wiki page to know what roles Cid has played in the past. |

Could you please learn how to spell? I can't make heads nor tails of half of your post? |

Originally posted by Inaya Ill go even further... make it a profession like a "miner" "farmer" "goldsmith" make it into "Chocobo Trainer" kind of like crystal farming in FFXI was, you had to care for the flowers make sure u didnt neglect them..So a Chocobo Trainer would raise eggs initially and breed the birds to create different colors/different traits, (speed/handling/stamina etc) You could sell these chocobos to people who then would just do the above things to maintain them. And to make it so the profession did not saturate the market, make the chocobos die off in a month or so +- a few weeks depending how well u cared for it. :P I am really getting to liek this idea hehe
Definitely need to come up with some other way to not saturate the market. I was with you right up until choco death. Now I have visions of logging on, going to the stable to pick him up and finding him dead :(
Well, for the whole death thing, they could make it so you would receive some sort of notification that your chocobo is reaching old age, and won't be able to do much for that much longer.
But myself, I would just like to see a mount system with chocobos. Plus, due to the current economy, perhaps a low pay to play thing, or maybe even have a sort of free to play part, and for those whom wish to up their game, they can just pay to upgrade their account, giving them more features, abilities, and when they stop paying, and go back to f2p, their p2p abilities would be disabled. |

Honestly, reading half of the replies on here bashing PW basically made me laugh right off of my seat. Honestly, people, you got no idea just what makes a good MMORPG these days. I'm thinking half of these people are those that think WOW was the very first MMORPG. Believe me, I've seen people who think that way. Makes me want to smack them 5 times right on the spot. Wow is a horrible MMORPG that is based off of a good strategy game. I mean, seriously, the game is only so popular because it's predessor strategy games, StarCraft and Warcraft, had so many followers around the world. Combined, over 17 million units were sold. It's no surprise some large amount of those players would decide to play the MMORPG built by people that gave them such great strategy games. And then, of course there is going to be little kids playing it because they think it's cool. But PW, it has fundamentals from some of the more superior MMORPG's, such as EverQuest and Dark Age of Camelot. It has story behind it's quests, an involved leveling system, challenging monsters (generally speaking), and a wide variety of weapons for use by everyone. It is true that everyone in the game actually helps you when you ask for help. And the guild system is quite concise. Not to mention the fact that they are constantly evolving the game, fixing minor bugs, and making sure the game is fun for every level. |

There will be a WOW-killer someday.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/11/08 2:28:22 PM
I still believe the fact that WoW is so damn popular 95% due to the strategy games that Blizzard made before it. I have played the game a little bit, and find that it does not quite do as much as DAoC does in the sense of immersing the player into the world. For me, in all senses, there has already existed a WoW-killer, but due to it's old age, and the non-popularity it had, since it had no popular series leading up to it, DAoC could only go so far, and so Mythic decided to choose a new form of strategy, taking a note of popularity, and advancing on the large population of WAR players out among the masses, to hopefully show that true expertise in MMO design is not in popularity, not in cartoony looks, but in the functionality. And of course, referring to both DAoC and WAR, there is no game out there that can beat the ultimate RvR gameplay. Grrraawww, man that is a killer awesome feature. |

Aeria Games has been working on a new game based off the popular console series about a post-apocolyptic Tokyo, where after a cataclismic incident that unleashes demons unto the world, now the Human population has begun to dwindle, and demons have begun to run amok. But of course, there's always some good guys, right? Of course, that's where us, the players, come in. Currently in closed beta-testing, I have been able to get some insight into the game's mechanics, and I have to say, this is quite a great take on the original game, made into a Massively Multiplayer world. You begin the game going through the basic function's learning what buttons do what, where to go, all that. You basically are a beginner Demon Buster, people whom work with demon's they have befriended to thwart the evil demons that are causing terror and chaos. You don't begin with a demon pet, though, for that is for later on in the game, and I won't go into detail how the beginning of it is, because believe me, you will fall in love with the story that they created. But enough with the story. Let's get into the nitty-gritty, shall we? This plays out with you having the choice, after the tutorial, to choose what kind of class you want to be. Either a close-combat melee type, a long-range gun-wielding type, or a maging type. But that isn't what you are only stuck with, because throughout the whole of the game, you get to choose what you get to do. Let's say you want to be a warrior that has some knowledge of healing or destruction magic. Well, go ahead and start training both of those, if you want. Or maybe you want to be a ranger that is just as deadly close-up, guess what, you can be. The choice is completely up to you, but of course with some points where you can't get any better than you are. Now for the gameplay, such as combat and demon allies. I'm not going to get too far into detail, because this is just something you have to experience for yourself, but I won't leave it in shades of gray, either. For combat, this game is basically near perfection. You have the ability to fight a numberless amount of enemies, of course, but the thing about it is, each and every one of them, you can make into your own ally, to fight alongside you. This game has been made to seem like the Online version of Pokemon, in some cases. Me, I think that to be far from the truth. Of course, what would an MMO be without some quests, right? Hehe, well, this game has a very immersive storyline, where from the beginning, the absolute beginning, you are already put into the story, before you have a second to breathe. That's right, just the tutorial, right when you're getting used to the game, you immediately are put into the story. You aren't just there, as is in many other MMO's, which isn't anything to be ashamed about. So what does all this mean? One great time playing one awesome game, does that fit perfectly well for ya?
