Guild Wars 2: Designing the Sylvari

Honestly... no i don't. We will see if that changes once I actually get my hands on the game. But even then I trust ArenaNet. They were awesome about updates, fixing bugs, making positive changes to GW1 so I have 100% faith in them. They've earned it. |

Of course it would work.. and you'll always find a group of diehard (insert race here.) But yeah as someone else said.. not much else to say about it, other than of course it could work.. |

Anyone else worried about the life Span of GW2?
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 8/02/11 1:06:48 PM
So many silly threads about "worried about this" "worried about that" Just relax. All will be revealed in time... why would anyone worry about the GW2 lifespan. Especially since it hasn't even come out yet... Whatever. |

The one game you have bought that is worth it!
General Gaming « General Discussion 7/24/11 7:06:14 PM
there are a lot of videogames that have been worth it.. as for MMOs though... I would have to say Guild Wars and FFXI and World of Warcraft. |

No, I was asking if there was a way around it. Just haven't seen that before in any online game I've played. Where I actually need to know the security questions. But alas, I just created a new account and all is well... but now the sale is over so I'm not sure if I should get it... |

Anyone else happy that GW2 wont be a grinder/raiding/gear grind
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 7/23/11 12:26:47 PM
Originally posted by Swanea That's one heck of a big difference... i don't consider it grinding if its something I want to do, verses something I feel I have to go for in order to progress in the game or do anything new. Grinding is mostly referred to in a negative sense and probably what most people are referring to in this case. If you're having fun it's not really grind, it's more, enjoying the game than "grinding" Just pointing out the two different perspectives of the term. |

Yeah I'm happy. If you're excited for GW2.. this is probably one of the reasons |

So I was going to update my free trial to the actual game but apparently I need a library card and they take it very seriously. I don't remember ever entering one (if I did I just made it up) but there seems to way around this... I can't even reset my password or do anything with out some library card number that I supposedly entered at some point when downloading the free trial... |

Originally posted by krea That's not exactly true. ArenaNet has said that releasing an expansion every year got to be too much for them and thus the model was working like they had hoped. That was one of the reasons the ditched their orginal GW2 idea and went thir route instead. I'm sure we wiill see expansions maybe even on a more regular basis but they are not going to the same route as guild wars 1 nor would I say they will be releasing "A lot of expansions" |

SWTOR Collector's Edition Discussion (Cost/Items/Opinions)
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 7/21/11 3:31:37 PM
Sounds to me like they know their game can't deliver and thus must get as much money out of the fans as possible before going F2P soon after. |

But actually pretty fun. I'm playing the free trial (which as far as I can tell I have access to everything up to level 15) so plenty of time to decide and try things out. It certainly has it's flaws but i do appreciate now what Rift has (and tried) to accomplish. The Good: The graphics are and sound effects are really nice. Even the sound when you accept a quest is well done. The spell effects are all better than most MMOs. The soul trees are also really neat. (Though at level 15 I can't really see the point of investing in more than two sould.) Still this provides a lot of customization. The rifts are also a nice distraction if nothing else. The Bad: The main issue I have is the quests. They are all pretty much throw away quests. I quickly stopped caring about the story. Hopefully in the future they will revamp their quest line like World of Warcraft did with Cataclysm. Doing the quests is fine. I have no issues killing 10 of this and collecting 5 of that. That's an MMO. But I would like a quest line that makes me WANT to do those things. Again I think WoW: Cataclysm really got it right with the quest lines. Also, as far as not liking the storylilne, that's my opinion. I'm sure there are people who really enjoy it. The only other probelm is the lack of tutiorial. I have all these planar shards orb stuff that i have no clue what they are for. Later I found you can spend them to buy stuff but.. that was just an example. Another example was the map. I see invaders going this way and that way and things popping up to say defend such and such and rifts opening up all over the place and I didn't know what I was suppose to do really. A little more direction would be nice I think.
If you just read this: I'm not totally sold on Rift but I have a new found appreciate for all they have tried to do with their MMO. It's pretty soild, and the best new MMO to come out in awhile. |

Rift is already having a welcome back week.. that doesn't sound good.. but w/e
hm maybe i'll try it.. see what it's about... downloading now >.> why not. |

Guild Wars 2 has full-featured, distinct underwater combat
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 6/27/11 5:05:53 PM
I don't understand why people are making an issue about breathing forever underwater.
**You put on an underwater breathing apparatus.***
That's why you can breath underwater you're wearing scuba gear or sorts..... Guess it's more complicated than it sounds. wow.. |

I would never play two MMOs at a time. While playing one MMO I would think about all the time I could be spending in the other. That said, I don't plan to play any other MMO other than GW2.. honestly though I might buy TOR or something just out of curiousity to see what it's like and putz around with it for a month. But GW2 will be my main MMO for shizzle. |

If you're tempted to play WoW then why look for an alternative? That's silly.. play the game you want.. WoW can be fun.. it's gotten so much hate because it's successful. Of course "only kids and people who like it easy play WoW." Or so the haters say. Though one would think there would at least be and handfull of adults and intellegent people who play... but even the haters can't accept that it seems. Anyway WoW is probably the best one to play IMO.. and I've played a lot of them. LotRO is fun IMO too. But it's really the MMOs in development that have the most promise to me. |

well wow was a pretty successful so maybe it's the best thing they can do is be a wow clone. could me more of compliment really. |

ArenaNet addressed this already. They don't go to E3, becuase frankly they don't care about it. PAX and other events have more direct connection with the fans. E3 is just announcments and stuff, they already have enough hype and reveal info on their website. ArenaNet rather interact with the fans than the press. Because well the fans are the best press. Makes sense to me. |
