All I have to say: Guild Wars 2! It wont be for everyone, but for a lot of people, this is the MMO they've been waiting for. |

I think I'm going to create a guild wars 2 character who's name is: Paper Towel. |

No one knows the exact release date... not sure why people still post threads like these.. they just put a release date guess so that people will pre-order however I don't think that date is unreasonable... especially considering how much change they made between the two press betas. |

Originally posted by Plazar It will be for the account and it will be unlocked... however (this part is a guess) that you wont be able to use it till level 30 when you unlock your elite skill *slot* .. some people think they'll be able to use it at lvl 1 but I dont think so... the skill will be unlocked but there is no way to equip it. It's more for flavor (like all racial abilities) but less powerful than profession elites. Also it's most likely just a reskin of the Hounds of Balthazar elite. |

Sill.. if we like what we see it's probably going to be good. I doubt ArenaNet is going to do a bait and switch. In fact it's a subscprition free game, so they really CAN'T be "bad" or it wont succeed. It has to be really good so that people play and get cash shop items and expansions down the road. Plus the majority of the press like it a lot (generally speaking) which even SWTOR didn't have this much love from the press. |

Anyone else avoiding this game for the first 3-6 months due to the unrealistic hype?
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 4/09/12 5:22:16 AM
Most games cost 60 bucks and have a weeks or two worth of gameplay... if GW2 is good for 3-6 months or more.. then it's well worth it. But really, what a stupid thread. Why would unrealistic hype change anything about the actual game itself? It doesn't, so if you're going to wait 3-6 months you may as well just buy it day one... there will be no actual difference... except maybe a couple updates.. |

Interesting enough vid.... though I thought the first video of that MMO shooter was a little lacking to say the least... and the guy on the end seemed like a total ahole.. but i don't know him personally so who knows. Guild Wars 2 is looking good and I like how the guy from Guild Wars 2 was the only person to shake hands.. everyone else was just up and leaving.. But I did agree with a lot of what they said. I guess we'll see what 2012 has in store. |

Hate to say (actually i don't mind saying it all) but the majority of press have really high praise for GW2 and these are people who actually played the beta so... You call it positivism i call it proven. this game is going to be good ;) |

Yeah that's a cool meta event.. the exciting thing is there are lots of zones that will have epic bosses like that once people complete a long chain of dynamic events. :) Can't wait :) I love people's reaction in the chat text when it appears :p |

The totalbiscuit vid on youtube (someone who ACTUALLY PLAYED THE GAME) sums up the combat very nicely and basically says you're wrong. it's not generic wow button mashing. If I get bored I'll find the link. |

If this game had a subscription fee it would fail.
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 4/06/12 11:08:21 AM
It's a troll post for sure but I'll find him. Guild Wars 1 was much smaller and people played it for years.. people still play it. Considering that Guild Wars 2 is a much more massive game. I'd say it's going to be hit. And players who actually give it a try will be around for a long time. The 'no subscription fee' has nothing to do with it's content. They said it would have no monthly fee before they even really got a good start at creating it. /plays with trolls hair. (I'm assuming it's a cute troll with the long neon hair and not a lord of the rings troll..) |

Still Water Eles ect will be able assist in keeping you alive.. I wouldn't say there are healers but there are supporters for sure. You're "healer" will really just be supporting you in keeping you alive... which also includes debuff and damaging the enemies.. but over all you will be mostly responsible for keeping yourself alive. (Also I'm sure they will adjust the heals on water attunement to do a little more healing, though I do get the point of what they were going for.. they don't want to be a big heal.. but they also can't have be useless which is what it appeared to be in some of the vids. |

Guild Wars 2: Guild Wars 2 - Why World vs. World Will Rule

RELEASE THE DAMN GAME ALREADY. |

I think it's going to be very frustrating for awhile... I imagine a lot of arguing going like this: Player A (Not using forums/not watching videos): "Ugh the Warrior class is so broken I keep dying." Player B(looking at forums/watching videos): "You need to dodge more and use your weapon swapping." Player A: "Okay so what skills are bests for tanking?" Player B: "There isn't tanking in this game. There is no holy trinity." Player A: "Then what am I suppose to do? This is stupid." Player B: "Just go play WoW.." ...and so on. |

Honestly opinion: It's ok... which I guess is the biggest dissapointment. There is really nothing exciting about the Rifts themselves which was suppose to be the big draw to the game. The quests are also absolutely forgetable that you'll stop reading them fairly shortly... at least I did. BUT it's pretty and the combat and skills are decent enough, the sound is probably one of it's strongest aspects. Casting spells was always satisfying. But there is just other MMOs like WoW, LoTRO, or any fo them really that have at least SOMETHING that makes them stand out.. Rift does not. edit: as some have mentioned though it has done a fantastic job with adding new content and updating the game ect. |

I'm pretty sure they're done or nearly done with the Asura and Sylvari.. however awhile back they did resign the Sylveria to give them a better look so it's possible that they were just fleshing out the character models (which now seems to be done) so yeah.. I'm more worried about higher level content to be honest... we'll see though :) Hopefully a release date will come next week or the day before pre-purchase. I doubt it will but... I think it would be smart on ArenaNet's part to announce a release date so that people feel more comfortable pre-purchasing. (I will regardless :p) |

I think the hype is overall real this time. The majority of the press that have been in the betas have basically said "we've played it and it lives up to the hype. It's awesome." That said.. of course there will be people who will be dissapointed.. but in general.. Guild Wars 2 is already a success based on the positive response from the press. |

Some scale but regardless it's goign to be easier with more people which is intended.. they don't want to punish people fro grouping together. They've stated before that dungeons (explorable mode, not story mode) is where the biggest challenge will lie. |

Anyone else still waiting for that "something special" before they buy in?

Yogscast's Guild Wars 2: Heads & Riddles, Questing Highlights
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 4/04/12 9:23:40 PM
I find the video very exciting in the possibilies. Imagine some temple with rooms full of puzzles to solve. Such a refreshing break from the trash mobs to boss dungeons like every single one of WoWs. My guess is that it was under water to give people a chance to really get a handle of their underwater skills. |
