crafting=lame, events=good, combat=awesome.
Beta Weekend Event Reviews & Impressions (Archived) « Guild Wars 2 5/03/12 4:26:34 PM
Crating may be lame but it is much less lame than any other MMO. I enjoyed it in fact.. it was fun to discover new recipes by combinding different things. |

The Elder Scrolls Online: What the Elder Scrolls Online Means for MMORPGs
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/03/12 12:57:21 PM
The only reason people will play this MMO is because they are fans of the offline series.. not because the online version will be good.. look how much of a depature FFXI and FFXIV are from the rest of the series. Guild Wars 2 will be better. If they decide to go the dynamic event route instead of the boring tradtional quests then maybe they'll stand a chance. |

TERA: Final Thoughts Before Launch
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 4/26/12 11:56:27 AM
The graphics are good but the art style is not for me. On top of that, the meh reaction to a lot of people who have been playing it make it a pass. Guild Wars 2 seems much more promising. Guess we will find out tomorrow! |

Will you miss a General Chat channel? - POLL
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 4/15/12 10:27:03 AM
There is a general chat it just has a much shorter range which is a great thing.. you'll actually have to be around the people you're talking to. :) And there is a world chat, so yeah.. I think the system is great :) |

Everyon here thinks WvW isn't as good as GvG mainly because you all haven't tried it. of course it's not going to be as good, you don't have all the good memories of WvW that you do of GvG... not yet anyway ;) Side note.. because Guild Wars 2 is so different (as far as gameplay and persistant world ect) I always thought they should have changed the name to Tyria or something else so people don't think Guild Wars 2 is going to be all instanced with no jumping ect :p |

Yeah that's pretty old.. Yogscast has never vids of them testing out a more recent beta weekend... as well as a bunch of better vids from Totalbiscuit... some people find these guys annoying but I find them rather entertaining :) |

They might have Guild vs Guild in the future however it's not called Guild Wars because of that. In the lore there is an actual war between guilds such as the White Mantle and Shinning Blade Am Fah and Brotherhood ect.. I'm sure you could also host 1vs1 duels amongs guilds.. that could be pretty fun actually.. or maybe you'll make enemies with other guilds in WvW :) |

Plus only some professions can switch weapons and they can only switch between two... A Ranger can switch between a bow and sword. If you just want to use a Bow you can... though I don't know why you would want to when you have a Warrior in your face.. sounds like you might not be that good in PvP... or at least not good in startegic pvp.. |

Originally posted by DJJazzy Indeed. And to furhter explain.. a Warrior can equip an axe and he will be in melee doing good damage ect with his 5 weapon skills (he has 5 other slots for profession/race related skills that he can pick from to customize his skill bar furture.) A Necormancer (A shadowy/death caster) can also equip an axe however the skilsl are totally different. In this case a Necromancer with an axe wont just be swinging his axe.. there are still spells associted with his axe so he will be attacking from at range (shorter range than if he had a staff) but still.. the skills asscociated with each weapon will effect that class. And some classes can switch weapons in the middle of a fight thanks to a weapon swap button next to skill 1. If a Warrior switches from an axe to a sword then the first 5 skills change to reflect that.. This gives you even more variety of skilsl to work with in battle... Hope that helps clear some things up. :) But really, check out youtube for some good videos that explain better how skils work and actually show it. Here is the example of how skills are associted with weapons and differ by class (and what hand they are in)
RANGER:
NECROMANCER
Note that 3 skills are associated with your main hand and two skills are associated with your off-hand. If you have a two-handed weapon then all 5 skills will be associated with that one weapon... but you'll see here that both the warrior and the ranger can duel weild axes. |

Skills associated with each weapon do change depending on the profession... :) |

I love how people forget the other half of the skill bar.. >.> |

GW2's "Hype" from the perspective of a "Modern" MMO Critic
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 4/09/12 12:57:45 PM
Hype is hype. If fanboys are hyping it up then they are hyping up. There is nothing wrong with any of it because... IT'S JUST HYPE. Fanboys could scream that it's going to be the greatest MMO of all time: past, present, AND future MMOs... and they could be wrong... but they're still generating hype.. and it's not WRONG. People's expectations could be wrong and therefore they could be dissapointed... but that is different than hype. I'd also like to point out that hype can also be negative... so all the trollish posts are also hyping up this game by getting people worked up. The fact that trolls are making threads alone is a form of hype because people are going to see Guild Wars 2's name. It all keeps people talking and interested.
On a side note. i've heard a less "This will be the WoW killer" type comments from GW2 fans.. than I have from a lot of other MMOs like SWTOR before it came out and currently Tera. |

That's funny that I clicked on this because I was just thinkg about the Admin. I watch your panel and I have to say I was surprised.. I kinda thought this was just some site that was more of an after thought to the people running it but you guys seemed to have some class. So I'm surprised but the amount of trollish threads and posts that are free to run wild. I think you guys actually should be more strict. This is the by far the worst site I go to when it comes to hostility and uneducated trollish nonsense. I'm all for freedom of speech ect.. but.. *shrug* every few months i have to stop coming here for awhile because I just get too jaded by all the nasty people who just soley want to bring a game and it's fans down. It's just sad because we are (or should be) a community and a family. Not everyone understands the passion a lot of us have for a certain MMO or MMOs in general... but the people here get it. Sorry, kinda ranty and not well thought out, but hopefully there is something to be said in there. |

what are you playing now while waiting on GW2?
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 4/09/12 12:40:10 PM
I tired playing lots of games but all i could think about was GW2.. so eventually i bought GW again and I'm trying to get some of the HoM rewards (special items for GW2 that you get via achievements in GW.) It has been years since I've played but it's still fun enough and I have a goal. Already unlocked most of the first armor set that you can get for GW2. |

Anyone else avoiding this game for the first 3-6 months due to the unrealistic hype?
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 4/09/12 12:38:10 PM
I really don't hear unrealistic hype. I hear a lot less of "This will be the WoW killer" ect than I did for SWTOR. Also most of the hype is coming from people who played and say it's really good. So.. the hype I think is accurate.. no one is making off the wall remarks.. and i'm talking from press and developers ect. can expectations not be met? yes. is hype ever unrelastic? no. It's hype.. it's to get people excited. How much hype there is, is based on our anticipation, nothing more. And a lot of people are anticipating this game. Unrelastic hype would be some never heard of MMO saying it's "the most anticipated MMO of the year!" |
