FFXI is my favorite MMO but I have to say.. I don't think anyone (who isn't already playing) should play it. Instead read up on and get excited about FFXIV... because that looks to surpass the great FFXI in almost every way :) |

Yep I'm done too actually I was done shortly after I started. I was all excited about this game but with more information coming about GW2 and FFXIV I couldn't get myself invested in this game. I also didn't feel it was localized very well. |

Yeah I mean I am not going to play this game when I could be playing FFXIV or GW2 but that said it does look very appealing and I might buy it or use the free trial just to check it out :) |

I don't want to destory any MMO except those that did not really put in an effort to make the game stable, unique, ect... but only the developers know if that is their MMO or not. |

World of Warcraft: Chatting With Blizzard
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/06/09 10:42:30 PM
I agree, while WoW isn't particularly fun, it's a very solid game and does pretty much everything right.. increasing the standards of MMOs.... and for that it deserves to be on top, despite all the haters.. Most haters hate the game not because it's bad but because it's such a bully making other decent and sometimes even good quality MMOs go under. It steals attention from other MMOs and that makes people angry. And while you can argue whether or not WoW is fun... I don't think anyone could say WoW is a bad game and be taken seriously. |

Star Trek Online: Exclusive Screenshots, Part One
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/06/09 5:39:26 PM
I know too little about STO at this point but so far TOR sounds very promising, not just in its design (being able to use the world around you to take cover ect) but also in the graphics and the epic story that is promised. So STO has a lot of stuff it needs to do before it could it even think about reaching the popularity of SW, from a gamers point of view. (I'm not talking about the general popularity between Star Strek and Star Wars.) |
|
|
TOR could but it's unlikely... well maybe here in the US but not worldwide... BUT anyway I would pick TOR over STO anyday.. and I'm not a huge fan of either |

It could be good if it's done like a Lord of the Rings mixed with the style of 300. |

Blizzards not the blame for WoWclones ... YOU are.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 9/30/09 6:23:06 PM
The sandbox argument is WRONG. We should not play a crappy sandbox game just to get away from the WoW clones. If a company was serious they could make a successful sandbox game. The fact is subpar "wow clones" work. subpar "non wow clones" dont. I great sanbox game would do really well imo.. but one has yet to be created as far as i'm concerned. Especially not the type that the majority of us would like. Companies are to blame. It's not us, it's the companies that are not creating a quality game to take players away from WoW. If companies choose to make a "wow clone" well by now they should no that no clone has surpassed wow and shouldn't even bother. If they're stupid enough to do so, then that's their problem. That said, there are a lot of MMOs in the work that are really doing things differently as far as far gameplay. TOR, GW2, and FFXIV to name a few... so I think next year we really start to see a shake up in the MMO world. |

Blizzard earned it. As some said.. if there are WoW clones how come none of them became anywhere near as popular. It's because Blizzard is the one that's doing it right. None have lived up to WoW and none will in the foreseeable future. They are a solid company that gives it's player what they want. Even those that complain about little things still play because the overall experience is solid. I too am sick of hearing about "WoW clones" and I too am annoyed that WoW overshadows everything else. But at least I can be honest with myself and others when I say WoW is a great game and deserves being on top. I'm not a huge fan of WoW but it did everything right. |

Two brand new translations (Dengeki Games & Famitsu Connect November)
General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV 9/29/09 1:56:51 PM
I agree as well. I DO remember the first time I reached Jeuno and I remember working to get my airship pass. I have all these great memories and accomplishments because I earned them. In fact, unlike most MMOs, the LEAST of my worries was leveling up because there were much more interesting things to work towards and places to explore... sometimes just getting to an area to fight mobs was a challenge in itself. I hope they keep the challenge up... and I do have faith that they will even if they do make it a bit more accessible. |

I did once in Guild Wars but I think Guild Wars is a little different. I had gotten to the point where I had done pretty much everything there was to do in the game other than grind for titles... so i was bored and decided to try and get some of the armor. In my defense I NEVER would have done it if they had an Auction House of some type... but sitting there for hours spamming the trade chat was frustrating and boring. I blame ArenaNet for leaving out a very vital aspect to any MMO economy. Still I am against gold sellers and all that which is a hypocritical thing to say but it's true none the less. But I'll do that with any regular videogame too. I'll play through it as it was intended.. then I'll go online and look at cheats and stuff.. it's really the only way to keep the fun going after you are bored with it. But if you're having fun still then there is no reason to cheat. |

Yeah it's its in the game but you will need a plastic surgery ticket which you need to buy with actual cash... and it is not in the game yet. |

Yep it looks great. This is really a dream come true. FFXI has always been my favorite MMO and since I left it to try and find something new and better... nothing has ever lived up to FFXI... so yeah I can't wait and the video looks amazing. |

common sense argument on why SWOR will not over take WOW so please let this be the last thread on the subject
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 9/29/09 10:47:29 AM
I agree with those who said that it's a bad thing to be as popular as wow... if TOR or any MMO because as popular as WoW that is NOT a good thing particularly... especially from a gamers standpoint. They will then be adjusting the game to appeal to the masses of players ect.. and the MMO will take a turn for the worse like WoW has.
But no this is not going to be the last WoW vs TOR thread so don't even ask. |

Guild Wars was very party oriented untill the release of Nightfall and the "Heroes." Heroes pretty much ruined the game for me... not really though, it was still fun, but it went to a more solo experience.. and one of my favorite things about Guild Wars was the need to party to get through most of the missions.
Still there are guilds and you will party for some of the harder missions... it sounds like it will be better in GW2 though, I can't wait. Guild Wars still remains one of my favorite, if not my favorite MMO(ish) game. |
