Honestly ! Who would actually pay 15 a month for this???
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/27/11 1:09:37 PM
I would and will. And I'm not a star wars fan at all. my knowledge of star wars pretty much consists of darth vader is lukes father. That said this MMO is the best I've played since probably Guild Wars (mmoish game) and WoW back in the day and FFXI before that. It's only been out for a week and it's very stable and fun considering. Some of the reasons i like the game. 1) Yes the quests are the same as any MMO but they hide it well by making a much more interesting story. 2) The community (at least on my server) is by far the best since FFXI. 3) The graphics and settings are fun. In each world is new and different. 4) The story is much more interactive. Regardless of how much I really effect the game I'm not sure, but at least I feel like I am in control of my actions. So alas.. I will gladly pay to play this game for the foreseeable future. I"m having a blast for the first time in a LONG time. Having tried almost every MMO out there I was starting to feel pretty jadded.. but this has gotten me excited all over again. Sure it's not for everyone.. no MMO is.. but everyone MMO is for someone so remember that too. |

Down for maintenance. 1.0.1. PTR Patch notes
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/27/11 12:21:30 PM
The main fix i want is Qyzen who's main stat is Aim yet the weapons he could use was changed at the last minute so that he longer uses a blaster making his main stat pretty useless. Also the cooldown bug is a really good one as I was having problems with that. Otherwise I haven't really had any issues. |

Less than a week, we can prove two things !

The OP couldn't be more off base. it's totally fun. Granted no MMO is for everyone. However this is certainly not like WoW.. if anything it's more Like Guild Wars in persistant world. |

It's pretty obvious now that Swtor is not going to succeed the way you hoped.

It's exceeded my expectations and will only get better.. I'm excited and I believe it is already a success... and xmas isn't even here yet. (lots of kids/teens will be getting it for xmas i'm sure.) Congrats on the success Bioware! |

yeah wtf.. they should be prepared for this.. i mean we are waiting.. in a queue.. to give them money.. sounds silly to me. lol I'm not complaining becaue I'm having a blast but damn.. |
|
|
I was placed in a queue... on their website! lol this after always waiting in a queue to play the game. I'm not complaining, it's funny more than anything but geez lol. more like Queue Wars If there is one thing i thought a company would be ready for, it's for when people are trying to give them money! |

This is quickly getting frustrating

no bugs here.. just the occassional unharvestable nod.. nothing major at all. By far more stable than a lot of other MMOs where several months or years after their launch. Totally loving it. Right now IMO the weakest link is crafting. |

Well I thought a charr mesmer would be an odd choice till i realized they've been in the game since the beginning. |
|
|
Humans and Charr were Mesmers from the release of the first Guild Wars. Asura also seem like a good choice. To me the oddest choices would be Sylvari and most of all Norn... but of course any race works. |

What was the point of the pre-order if this is the case.
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/14/11 10:20:55 PM
I think the waves is smart but i'm also irritated because i want to play and my friend preordered it way before me and already got his code but i did not. grr! I think they could have more waves and get more players in... but this is just me QQ. |

Me too.. but the game tech doesn't launch till the 20th. I think they are being pretty cool and smart about everything. Its not just the servers they said. They also want to give people a chance to explore and level a little before letting more people in. If we all logged in at the same time.. even without a queue it'd still be way crowded. giving them some time to explore and move out of the starting area so we can come in is pretty cool IMO. But of course deep down i want to play lol. hopefully i get in tomorrow.. i preordered it awhile ago. |

General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/13/11 9:37:17 PM
Um there have been fantastic patches/updates to several MMOs. In any event people seem pretty happy with it as it is and launch is going smooth. so.. IN YA FACE! |
|
|
Lol! The OP made me laugh. Who cares what their real agenda is? They told us how it would work and that's how it's working. Even better and more smoothly. Maybe they did under promise and over deliver but... good! |

Guild Wars 2: Mesmer Revealed as Final Class & Reddit AME Event
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/12/11 4:57:30 PM
Looks cool.. i might consider playing one now even though I never played one in GW1. But honestly a class reveal at this point is just not enough. It's taking way too long for this game to make any real progress. I'm too jadded to really care about anything other than a release date at this point.. and a lot of guild wars fans on a fansite i go to our feeling the same way. |

What class will you be come launch
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/30/11 4:12:51 PM
i will be the healer class... i know little about star wars but i know in MMOs I like to heal ^^ |

good game but just Rift with guns.
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/29/11 2:56:29 PM
the title of this thread could easily be taken as the highest of compliment and can indicate that it's even better than Rift. So thanks for the positive thread! |

I've decided to get excited about this game (question)
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/27/11 11:45:12 PM
So I've been waiting for Guild Wars 2 but the game is just taking way to long to come out. They talk about how great it's going to be but at this rate we will never see it. So I turned to turn TOR. Looks like it could be fun and addictive but I have some questions and I know i could look them up but it's easier to ask instead of getting overwhelmed. So I am not a Star Wars fan (I've seen the movies that's about it. I don't NOT like it, I just never gave it any of my time.)... can someone who is a fan, tell me how much of this setting/characters/equipment/ect are made up for this game specifically and how much is already established in lore? I'm just wondering how much background information I need to understand what's going on. I'm guess I'm worried that I'll get some droid thing and not have a clue what it is or what it's used for. Or I'll get called a new because I don't know Kj'Blah is and so on... Still I was looking on the website and I think it'll be fun. Certainly more my cup of tea than most MMOs to come out as of late. |

This game starts at level 10+
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/27/11 11:36:47 PM
I agree that if a game is not fun from the start then the game is a fail. at least in that respect. there is no excuse to play a bad/boring game just to get to the good stuff... that is silly. Anyway I'm not bashing this game since I have never played it. I'm just generally speaking. |

EverQuest II: A World of Adventure and Discovery
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/09/11 3:06:52 PM
It's been a long time since i've played but from what i remember the world itself was great, the quests however, were boring. The community was virtually silent on the few servers i tried.. And I couldn't find quests other than papers that told me to kill such and such. But I do think it had one of the most beautiful immersive worlds to date. I really felt like i was a part of the world instead of playing a video game. |
