Hmmm.. kinda like EverQuest would "never"  get classic servers according to people like you.

And where did this little rumour come from??

The dead horse salesman is having a feild day here thats for sure, they wont bring any servers back into the game(i wish they would),but they wont,so get over it.

As for everquest its what like 7 years old most players are maxed out lvl wise so for that game its a chance to go back and see what it was like in the beginning, they'll be right back on thier own servers when they missed all the good stuff that was pushed into the game over the years thats for sure.

Sorry but thats bollocks tbh,if they'd have tried to balance the combat profs the uproar would have been huge from the profs that got left out.

The game was a big sandbox experiment that just didnt work and for now will signal the end of such projects, dont get me wrong i'm no SOE lover but if thier guilty of anything it was listening to a whinging community that wanted everything done yesterday,it's only now i have distance from the game i see this now,it's the community that moaned on about combat being boring and frankly they got what they wanted a change.

The WOW factor of course didnt help the game but to keep blaming SOE is lazy and frankly nonsensible.

The reason it failed is because they used a garbage engine and kept switching teams around in the company. This will not signal an end to sandbox games. It was one of the first attempts and it failed. Doesnt mean someone else wont try it again. And maybe the next time, learn from SOE's mistakes.

Kai

I dont see many other sandbox games in devolpment..unless you know of any

It was not too complicated, with losing subscription numbers and server pops dropping, sure 32 professions is not going to encourage a healthy game atmosphere, but when they had the 200k subs, and the servers maxing out on players, 32 professions was a great mix. Balance between them shouldn't have been hard either, there were only a handful of combat professions(pistols, pikes), a handful of crafting professions(weaponsmith, artisan), a handful of hybrid professions(scout, medic), and a handful of social professions(entertainer, politician).

Especially since saying "There were 32 professions to balance" was b.s.  There were only like 12 combat professions to "balance". Now there are 9. Some streamlining!

Balance was a faulty idea to begin with. Just knock down a couple attacks, fix stacking, buff the mind bar, fix the bugged specials.. VIOLA.

The game was, whether we like it or not far to complicated to programme 32 proffs into a workable game, that said i would have sooner have kept the pre-cu game as it was and see how things panned out thats for sure.

The main problem is that yes players are getting fed up with the lvl based generic gMMO games that are rife,SWG offered something different in that respect,i spent 2 years playing the game right up till the CU hit and then my interest wained kept a sub going but playing nowhere near as much as i did and when the NGE came along that was it for me tbh.

The OP has valid points made well too about the devolpment time spent making the nest 2 incarnations of the game,it could have been spent on sorting the game out, even reducing the proffs to say something like 20 merging certain proffs and so on evolving the game instead of taking a hammer to it and breaking it beyond repair, the sub numbers were always going to take a hit when the double whammy of WOW/EQ2 came out that was inevitable but it seems to me the high ups at SOE paniced and threw the baby out with the bathwater tbh, they didnt look at the long term picture of the game and thought of nothing of breaking a game that needed a bit of work of course, but still very fixable.

Now all i see on the SOE forums are "events" coming up and thinking thats all well and good, will it make me resubscribe to see them??..not a chance in hell tbh.

The only other reason i can honestly think of why they took the game in the NGE direction is to convert it to the PS3..but of course they deny that.

Hey all,

For those that know me, I'm not a NGE fan but resubbed recently to hang with an old friend for a month.

Logged on today had all I can say is WoW!!!

I can't believe they delayed this for a month, then a week, then a day, and it's still completely messed up!!! ROFLMAO!!!!

Here are a few of the highlights:

  • They had to remove the Respec NPC's because they were removing levels for players. Someone took a screenie of a CSR saying tough luck, lol!
  • They messed up the loot tables MAJORLY. I got BS armor off of a Reb NPC in Nashal, not to mention about a dozen Krayt Pearls.
  • Since only BH & Commandos can wear Mando, they rule now since Mando crafted well can well exceed other armor's stats. It's interesting to watch in PVP.
  • They messed up Commando Wep's damage, and I'm not talking about the changes. The Feather & AOE effects aren't working right, and the Special damage is busted.
  • Some Ent's have lost learned dances and other abilities, and some Traders lost some schem's.
  • Specials are even MORE borked, and are mis-firing at about 30% of the time now, especially heals.
  • And lag is worse. Folks in Theed were freaking out about it since it was causing corpses running around shooting poeple.

Check out the SWG forums yourself, lol!

WTG SOE!!!!

You forgot such wonderful highlights as...
...spaceships leaving without their pilots.
...Many mayors losing part or all of their politician tree.
...everything dropping milk and eggs.  Save a rebel, milk a stormtrooper.
...Starsider being in "loading" mode most of the day.
...Dancer xp levels costing in the millions while dance xp was nerfed to the dozens per tic.
...entertainer buffs broken, buffs that last for inconsistant amounts of time completely unrelated to level.
...upkeep messages (and charges) from houses and city fixtures that no longer even exist.

I've come to the conclusion that the current SWG dev team couldn't screw in a lightbulb without a detailed manual and a technical assistant.  What a bunch of tools.

LOL its getting worse

This change is very, very telling about the numbers in the game.  There aren't enough people playing these days to be able to create/evolve a city, so they had to lower the numbers.

As soon as i read this i thought the same thing...

My wife plays WOW and has over the course of 14 months of gametime had 19 free days credited to her account...SOE could learn a valuable lesson from Blizzard in the PR department thats for sure.

Hi, I just resubscribed yesterday and I was prepared for a disaster, but the game wasn't that bad. I mean, it is a totally different game, but it is still good, and its much better then the beginning of the NGE. Loads of bug fixes and other stuffs. So you should give it a second try^^

Uhm, no thanks. My ass it still sore from my last encounter with SOE.

sweeeet. Thanks for the update obraik. Personally im superexcited about the collision system, and what are the character apperance improvements? Are they remaking the models or textures or both? Or do they mean appearance as in clothing and armour and such?

The chairs from deck 2 are being moved to deck 5. The chairs from deck 1 are being moved to deck 3. Chairs on deck 4 are being repainted. Chairs in the lounge will be decorated with fake gold paint.

LOL..

I do wonder how they're going to implement a collision system when they cant get toons to sit down properly

Yup, I am a “whining and complaining vet” myself. This thread was just meant as a joke. Hopefully even the NGE lovers (both of them) will see it as just a friendly jab, provided they can read.  I’ll probably confuse more people when they cut and paste the link rather than just click it since I did use the URL to the latest SWG plans-the ones Xcathdra points out are adding back some of what was removed. Once they roll it all back, then make up for the crappy treatment, then find a way to fix all our ruined gear, and stop charging for beta testing-I’ll consider going back.

I think your over populating the game saying theres 2 people left in game

Aye..the more they say the more this makes sense...

The xbox 360 has FFXI as its online game,so it would make sense for sont to have some sort of MMO game ready to go..(no matter how bad it is)

No, this is not a last ditch effort.  A last ditch effort requires EFFORT.  This is nothing more than a PR stunt to keep gullible people subbed for awhile longer.  It's just more lies.  They say they want to fix the game and give players what they want.  The problem is that the players want the old game back.  They just flatly refuse to do that.  That shows that they don't really care about saving the game or making players happy.

"We want to make you happy"
"Give us Pre-CU back!"
"We'll do whatever you want to the game to make it better... except THAT"

You can't have it both ways.  Actions speak louder than words.  Their actions continually show they don't give a flying flip about doing what will bring people back.

I agree with the post

Funny,i always was told "the customer is always right"
