I have never lied on any forums. Credibilty is something we build up over time by being honest; I feel I have more than established my credibility here. I have been posting on this subject since the CU.

I am far from anonymous here; I am an SOE Influencer for what it's worth and have ongoing relationships with various parties involved.

You have issues with Smedley and that taints your opinion sadly but at the end of the day you dont sign his no doubt sizable pay check,so someone,somewhere must feel he's doing something right.

An influencer eh? grats on that but it doesnt mean much becuase you dont have the proof of that infamous meeting that brought about the NGE,you say you have info but as i say this is the net and this is a forum and people overestimate thier worth to the grand scheme of things but in the end the influencer programme means nothing becuase lets be fair if it did then the game would still be the same.

I too have been on and off here since the CU,have a look around my posts and when i joined the forum,nobody foamed more at the mouth than me at the time and yes i miss the old girl,but i've moved on i know a lot of people cant or are unable to and i can understand that but really nobody cares in the wider world of MMO's about SWG and what happened,its history now and if other devs learn from the mistake than the genre will be better for it.

I rarely post here now but usually post if something catches my eye mainly becuase of some peoples rather rabid views expressed in this forum,its a games company nothing more,they make 1 good game,had a greeat idea in SWG but didnt follow it through,theyy push poor titles out that they didnt make VG,PoBS and a couple of other that frankly are past thier sellby date,but thats all they do nothing more.

If Koster was the visionary people here would have you believe then he would have forseen the onward march of the casual gamer,something that SWG never was and that was its biggest flaw and as we all know now WOWs ease of use (plus the blizzard name) all but killed SWG in the water,sure SOE didnt help but people want to see something for thier playtime not arse about looking for naff or squill groups (though hell i do miss that) but i digress.

If i offeneded you by making fun then i'm sorry and hope your feelings have healed now,but untill you can provided the proof of the NGE meeting you attended then to me being an influencer means nothing,just hot air,but provide me and i'll happily start a thread where you can /flame away at me..but i fear that wont be needed.

For me this is my last post on this particular forum,its served its purpose to me at least but all its doing now is going round and round in circles not getting anywhere,SWG was my gaming life for 15 months till the CU and i miss it but like i say i'm lucky i've moved on though i'll keep an eye out for that privelidge info you have ;)

It's damn hard in the UK to find a copy of EQ2 in stores nowadays. You will get the odd store with a copy of the original game (with no expansions or anything) in the bargain bin for like £5 but then I have only ever seen like 3 copies of the Rise of Kunark set with everything in and I contacted that same store yesterday and they said they don't have it in anymore and they won't be stocking it. Not one shop near where i live in the uk stocked ROK at launch or even today (i always check),now that is down pure and simply down to SOE's miniscule advertising budget for the game

Really? How many people play in the 1-20 range? 1%, maybe 2% of the playerbase is in the 1-20 range and are only there for maybe 8 hours at most? How many in the 20-40? maybe 10%? and "the playerbase", 10% within that particular level range, want SoE to devote dev hours to old content they never play? BRILLIANT, just brilliant. I wouldn't hold my breath for this one. They may rework an instance every once in a while, but nothing major. DFC was the most radical change I've seen, and it wasn't revolutionary or anything.

The fact it wont get done is another matter but theres nothing more depressing than seeing RV empty becuase its a lovely zone.

The last thing IMO is yet more stuff being churned out via expansions when new players havent touched the old world yet,it makes no sense to me but i suppose to SOE its a nice little earner every year.

I too trod this wary path a few months back via station access,the most fun i had was uninstalling it again,very sad.

The problem is, among the media, he has managed to shift blame for the problems to LEC. Aided by his loyal followers and hordlings, his people have spammed forums and the dirty deed has been done. As I said, he is good st playing ONE game -- blameshifting.

He managed to shift blame for SWG's failure FIRST to Koster, then to WoW, then to a hidden Cabal against him, and ultimately, to the heavy, almighty hand of Lucas Arts (a ludicrous proposition, to be sure, being as SONY dwarfs LEC by several orders of magnitude).

He has managed to bully all MMO sites, while LEC has essentiially stayed out of the fray.

He has won, no question about that. Everyone else has lost, which is a pity.

LA guard the star wars IP like the cash cow it is,they'll milk it for all its worth,SWG wasnt performing and whoever it was thought it may be a good idea to change things..the rest we know,but make no mistake LA had thier hands buried up the cows arse very deeply indeed.

I sSmed a bully? i dont know,never met the man..he seems to me incompitent but someone loves him and for all this forums crying out he's still there doing what he does best..getting publicity for SOE and thier games,the man for all his faults knows how to work the press and for every post here regarding what he's said its another little victory for the red head.

I'd be amazed if the Blizzard guy wasnt up top tbh but i am a little surprised at the LOTR guy being so far up the list (generic quest driven MMO 4tl tbh)

And given the fact SOE hasnt released an MMO since the NGE  the point you make is moot granted they've presided over the turkeys of POBS and VG but the defence there is they didnt make them

because Smedley and Company mismanaged it into the ground. They continually made promises they never kept, never fixed what was wrong, and never added the "toys" that the "sandbox with toys" was supposed to have.

That made people who were originally very enthusiastic for the game grow to be disillusioned. Slow atrophy set in, and when WoW came on the scene, many more left.

Then, to cover up his own failure, Smedley blamed Koster for his design, and we got the CU. That failed, which led to his second blame-shift, WoW. They attempted to copy WoW with the NGE, but tried to do so on the cheap, and in too short a time; the unethical nature of the act (using current subscribers money to pay for the destruction of their game) combined with doing such a shabby job of it led to a massive hemmorage of customers.

Now, over two years later, they are almost DONE with what they should have had finished by November 15, if they were going to do a thing like the NGE, and it has failed miserably.

Now, I know I have explained this in many threads you have posted in before (perhaps in this thread even, I forget since I have explained it so many times), and others have as well; so I wonder, why ask this question, which has been answered many times and in many similar ways, again?

Either way, there's your answer once again. Pretty simple really, if you remember the course of the game's history.

To sum up and repeat:

Star Wars Galaxies was delivered as a broken sandbox, with the sand spilling out. It was meant to be a sandbox with toys. The toys never arrived.

Smedley needed to cover up for that failure. He did so by shifting blame, first to Koster, then to WoW, and now, to the hidden Cabal of angry customers. He's a gamer of a sort, and that is the game he plays, which sadly, he plays fairly well.

But here we are almost 3 years on and whats changed? nothing much tbh..guessed at sub numbers,a very broken game (still) and the little red headed man still in charge of SOE..nor do i see sony filing for bankrupcy becuase of the angry vets so everything is as it was back the day the NGE hit

RE number three..for my wife who'd never played an MMO tried it out on my account and frankly couldnt get her head round it,much later she tried WOW and bingo she played it solid for 2 years till she moved to EQ2

In my mind the game was not "casual freindly" in anyway shape or form,now for me and others i'm sure thats what made the game,you had to go looking for stuff and sometimes get your arse kicked doing it,but for the new people to the gaming genre they need some sort of direction.

In this regard the game utterly failed.
