I have never, nor would I ever buy a game from Amazon. I buy my games at the store, usually, or online from gamestop, I have never even thought of buying from Amazon. In addition, I don't use Xfire. I personally don't see a use for it as my guild uses vent and team speak. Further more, I spoke with my guild and out of 132 people, only 8 used Xfire. I think it's borderline retarded to base the state of a game on Xfire. I'm happy AoC is selling well as it's currently my addiction. |

I think that not all here are clear as to the difference between zones and instances. "Instances" are multiple instances (lol) of the same zone. Zoning is just the loading between areas. I apologize for those who knew this, but it seems like it's getting confused. Whether you hate zoning general or you hate having multiple instances of the same zone, I feel that it is going to be used more and more in upcoming titles. If for no other reason then performance. I hear everyone talking about the "immersion" factor, but come on, isn't that ruined the first time you see the name "ipeefreely" or "wheresthebeef" or “tampoontheimpaler”? I met a guy the other day named “fagatron”. I sure there were plenty of people running about in the ol days named fagatron.
Why can't instancing and immersion live hand and hand should be the question. I don't have an issue with it. Can't you feel immersed in an instance? I do. |

Considering that it was supposed to bring sieges, spellweaving and dx 10... Then maybe you can see my point
God damn I wish that people could just play what they like and shut the fuck up about everything else. You don't like the game, we get it. Now move the fuck on and play somethng else. Jewses Christ all the whinning around here makes me want to stomp on flowers. |

that's funny...lol. I suppose I'm a "fanboi" as I'm having quite a good time. All I can say is, shit happens. The enjoyment I'm having is still worth 15 smackers a month... hell, that's 5 coffees for me...lol |

What color is the shield? Is it red? If it's red, it's more then likely just the security center's warning that the firewall is off, or something else if off. If this is the case, you should be able to right click and just select exit. Are you running Vista? If so, try right clicking on the Vanguard Icon and selecting "run as admin". He was saying that you should be running as admin. Another fun Vista security deal. |

Originally posted by Zorndorf First off, I'm not arguing that WoW didn't have free PvP servers, I was speaking of BG's only. And Yes, I did only play on the free pvp servers when I played. I'm not arguing WoW vs. Conan. I applaud WoW for having a free for all pvp server in the first place. What I'm saying is that I don't need rewards for PvP to value a game. I just want to have fun doing it, and that's enough for me. WoW included.
As far as me not ever playing a PvP server... as I said, I have played every game that has come out. You seem to have only played WoW...lol. In a lot of games there are exclusions as to who may be attacked and when. Get it out of your head that I'm attacking WoW. I think WoW is an excellent game, I personally am just having more fun in AoC then I ever had in WoW. The combat system alone is soo much better... For me. I don't enjoy the point and click combat. You may like it better, and that's great, I however, don't. In your first post, you were saying that I obviously don't care about game mechanics and game value. I was simply pointing out that is incorrect. I care deeply for mechanics and game value. Just because you don't find any value in the game doesn't mean that others share your opinion. As I've said before... what do any of us get outta these games for our hard earned 15 smackers a month? Fun. That's all. No amount of gear means anything if you're not enjoying yourself. So as long as a game is providing me with fun, I have no issue paying the bill. When and if it stops being fun, I'll stop paying. EDIT: Oh, and btw, in WoW, you just campt their bodies and have another group at the closest Graveyard... Then they're out of options.. .there's a little detail for ya.When I die in Conan I usually get no less then 3 different locations where I can respawn, complete with distances from my corpse. In addition, even if you choose to respawn at the nearest location, your immune for 20 seconds which is plenty of time to get rested and back into the frey. You have no clue what you're talking about here. You're obviously a WoW Fan and will argue any point anyhow. So let's agree to disagree. You play WoW and I'll play Conan, and hopefully we'll never meet again |

If I find value in the pure pleasure of the hunt and kill, is that not reward enough for me? (For the record, I have nothing against WoW, I played that also for some time). 2nd, isn't the PvP system part of the game play mechanics? The fact that I can roam around in a location just killing people is certainly the product of the mechanics of the game. For example, in some games, there are restrictions as to what level you can attack, what faction you can attach, etc. So the fact that it's a free for all is a part of the game mechanics that I enjoy. Is the combat system not part of the mechanics of which you speak? I also mentioned that in my post. So how is it that I'm not looking into game play mechanics? Please advise, thanks

I've been playing these games since UO. I know what I like and what I don't. I also have a pretty hectic career, so I only get the chance to play for an hour a night, if even. In my case, I'm loving the game and chances are that most of the "content" issues will be addressed before I need them to be. Anyone who hit's level 50 within the first two weeks of a game is sick. They play too much imo...lol. Back to the games, I've have literally played everygame that has ever come out. I really enjoy Conan's combat system and the general look and feel of the game. I feel that I'm leveling at a good pace for the amount of time that I play, and I'm enjoying the questing and how the section I'm doing now is specifically aimed at my class. Other then questing, I spent about an hour the other night at level 10 doing nothing but PvP and had a ball. That's my other issue.. I keep hearing people bitch that you get nothing from PvP.. has WoW warped us all? I for one don't want to spend countless hours doing mindless battlegrounds for points. Does anyone else remember when the reward for PvP was a good time? Fun. That's all I'm looking for. I want run around freely and stab someone in the face, ya know, just to releve some stress. I'm sure once the battle keeps and that other shit comes out (if it's not already) people will be happy. Who knows, perhaps not. You can't make all the people happy all of the time, but reading this site everyday, I'm starting to come to the conclusion that it is actually possible to make all the people unhappy all the time....lol <FLAME ON!!> |

All systems are different my friend. You'll never know if it will run smoothly until you try it on your system. However, if you're just looking for re-assurance on specs you can just go off the min specs on the site. Based on those, you're golden. I'm running an AMD x2 6000+, 3g's Ram and 8800 gts (320) and it runs pretty damn well. |

I must admit that I was a little hesitant to try AoC with what I had read before release; however, I don't like to judge a game I haven't played. I'm very happy I tried this out because I have had more fun online the last week then I've had in a long time. Everyone has different taste, and this game is my taste..lol. I do think it's very funny though how you make negative comments on zoning and then say that you're going back to Eq2...ROFL. That's funny as hell. Ring Ring... Hello? Yes, hello pot, this is kettle... You're black......ROFL!!!!!!! |

Yeah, I must admit, your title work is not good. I thought for sure this would be yet another post bashing the less then 1 month old Conan (which I'm playing and loving!) I must say, if you don't like it, you don't like it. I reards to eq2 and Vanguard, I have played them both for over a year. Both are great games, but in terms of pure content and polish, you have to go with eq2. Not polish as in the game engine, as the game still does not run as well as it could, what without dual core support and such, but it runs well enough. If you buy RoK, you get it all. You won't quickly run out of things to do, and as long as you pick a popular server, you'll have plenty of people to play with. Vanguard will eventually be a great game. They have just added, or will soon be adding race specific mounts and overhauling the character models. The game still plays and feels unfinished though imo. I wish you luck in your choice! |

It's a given that an mmo released will not be "completed" or perfect. People forget what games like WoW, Eq2 and others were like when they came out. Remember Horizons? Huh? Member that mess? Seriously, WoW was horrible, long lines to get into the game, no battlegrounds, no pvp system and no Hero classes that were promised. Hell, Eq2 didn't have a working auction house, and no mailboxes for almost 6 months. And you want to act like this is something new??? Just thinking about it... that god damn loot bug in WoW lasted almost a year! The problem is, that a lot of mmo'ers started their careers with WoW well after release and expect every game that comes out to be that polished. Trust me, it took the bliz and these other companies some time just to get their games off the ground. But now, Conan is being compared to games that have been out 3-4 years. I'm currently playing, and enjoying the game a lot. You can say what you'd like about the game, as every opinion matters, but from what I'm seeing, a lot of detail was placed into the game. Give it some time my friend. The game hasn't even been out two weeks. If the game still sucks in a few months, then jump right back on the wagon. |

Being someone who has played both, eq2 much longer, I would recommend eq2. They are both good games so it would really depend on you. Are you a big LoTR Fan? If you're not a big fan, the game lacks. It is very fun though and plays extremely smooth. As far as eq2, it's big. There is a ton to do and 4 expansions. If you buy RoK , you get it all. There are about 18 races to choose from and a healthy amount of classes. If you play the good side, you can betray and go over to the bad side and do that content and vise versa. As I said though, both are good games and both have trials. Good luck! |

Damn, the game just came out and here we are throwing shit like a bunch of primates...lol Let's give them at least a month and then start the shit throwing. Even though we bought the game, the first month is free, so we at lease owe them that. I for one am an actual casual gamer. BTW, casual gaming is not 2-3 hours every day or every other day. It's more like an hour or so every other day, hence the term casual. I'm having a great time and very much enjoying the quest. Perhaps I'll hate the game in a month though. |

I've been playing the game for about a week now, and I'm having a great time. Perhaps I haven't gotten to the part where it sucks. Who knows? I have played every game ever on the market and I have stopped playing every game on the market for some reason or another. I simply have not found a reason yet to stop playing this one. Yet. I would tell anyone to give it a shot. You may like it. However, if money is tight, wait for a trial. |
