With Episode VII on the horizon I wouldn't be surprised to see a little cross-promotion. It might be nice to see another Movie-Spawned race instead of another Cartoon one. Though I suppose Rebels will be out much sooner...
Get rid of levels and quests.
I'd like to see better hit detection. Head shots being more damaging than body shots in other words. Actually I'd like to see the same sort of aiming and hit detection as Skyrim, but I understand the need for some compromise in an MMO. Having only played it for maybe 8 hours total so far I'd say my biggest issues are the lack of any real death penalty and the fact this game is level based. It really bums me out to know that cities and areas surrounding cities become pointless to visit after just a few levels. They can't change these, but maybe improved hit detection to make combat more challenging/fun.
I was under the impression that this game did not have determined classes, just like most Elder Scrolls Games don't. Am I wrong about this?

My initial understanding was that the only real game here was Next, and that Landmark was just a sort of Alpha/Beta/Demo to get people excited for the later release of the full game (Next). I also thought that the creation tools for Landmark would then carry forward into Next to use for your claim, but all the rest of the game outside the claim played like any other MMO.

Then I realized they were two separate games that would carry forward side-by-side once Next was released, but I thought that once something was built in Landmark it would instantly show up in Next.

Now I honestly have no idea and the videos I've watched don't seem to clarify. What exactly is the relationship between the two? Will Next have any of the same creation tools in it? Will Landmark have any sort of gameplay elements like monsters, NPCs, combat, and PvP?

In this kind of situation I'd grab a screenshot of a black sheep in Minecraft and play around with it in paint. Sure it's not original, but it'll get more attention.

I like how it feels like one of those Semi-Indie Crime Dramas you only really see being made into movies, and I like the Cinematography capturing the two different time periods(notice all the old computer monitors and typewriters in the store room where Rust is being interviewed), but I hope it gets on point in episode 2. Sometimes all this weird artsy crap can get a little grating. Same reason I watch American Horror Story, but really find it hard to truly like it.

There is a thin line between a believably complicated character and an unbelievable one.

Follow her next time she is on a date with another guy and damage the crap out of her car in the parking lot. From what I understand, this is not considered to be a crime but rather a socially acceptable way to get justice.

Oh, and also, next time you're going down the highway too fast in icy weather paying very little attention to the dangerous road conditions with your innocent baby sleeping in the back seat and amazingly you hit a patch of ice and starting sliding:

Instead of trying to work with the steering wheel and brakes to keep your car from flipping or careening into oncoming traffic try throwing your hands up and telling Jesus Christ to take the wheel.

Underwater combat was something I thought I always wanted, but honestly, after playing WoW and GW2 I'd actually be much happier with just underwater structures with breathable air. It'll still feel like it is underwater since you'd have to swim to it, but it wouldn't slow things down and you wouldn't have to deal with the Murky, dark, and blurry atmosphere.

Wing Commander was actually a pretty good movie and fun Sci-Fi. Yeah the bad guys should have been more CGI than rubber suits and they treated the main ship too much like a submarine, but the sets were a great mix of futuristic and realistic and the action was great. Also, Saffron Burrows.

Let's see, download this 'snippet' of a game involving a part I'll never be able to participate in online (because I'm sane and don't want to spend $500 for a virtual house)... OR

Come on bud, you must know they'd never charge so much for in-game housing. The homes they were showing off were just the unique ones that backers who gave them around $500 would be getting as a perk. They'll have plenty of housing that will be available to buy with in-game currency and, yes, I'm sure you can spend real money for a house as well but it will likely be closer to $10-$15 if you want to pay for a shortcut.

I'm not thrilled with the game and I'm no fan of micro-transactions but this is just common sense stuff here.

It's unbelievable to me that Ultimate Online's clothing and dye system is going on twenty years old and we still haven't seen another MMO copy it with a few partial exceptions like SWG or LotRO. It's so easy. Just give us 4 or 5 top-layer articles of clothing we can wear over armor and the ability to dye them a wide variety of non-neon colors.

Yeah, I shouldn't have replied at all. The post is in violation of one of their posting policies, and so it will be locked for that reason.

I doubt there will be a "discussion".
Remember that UO technically had classes like this, or rather optional templates. I'm find with it, especially if they have some sort of "Custom" Choice like I expect they could.

A clothing system like Ultima Online. How can a game get it so perfect in the 90s and now the multi-million dollar MMOs 15-20 years later have everyone running around looking the exact same. They need to let us layer the clothes and give us dye tubs to color the different garments whatever color we want. They can keep the colors muted if they want, and they can leave the armor designs as is.

It's such a small thing, but it can make a huge difference.

This just sounds too good to be true.

I don't really have it in me to screw with people in games anymore than I do in life. If a complete stranger walked up to me in a game I was really into and asked me to hold for them the rarest of items or an unimaginable amount of currency I would absolutely return it to them when they asked and even try to track them down myself if they never came back. Mostly I've been this way from the very beginning and I'm actually pretty proud of it. Unfortunately, I was young once, and so I have a few regrettable instances from my early days of playing online games to choose from.

Probably the worst thing I ever did was back when I played Ultima Online in the good years before Trammel. Back then uo.stratics was my only real source of gaming news, and one day I came across an article about an upcoming player wedding taking place on a shard I didn't play on. I've always been really interested in these types of things and attended quite a few weddings and even funerals (for real players deaths) during my years of playing UO. I decided to create a new character on the shard where the wedding was to take place right away, because it was going to take place on Ice Island, and I knew it could possibly take me awhile to get there since I had to rely on other players to transport me. I ended up finding the tower where the ceremony was going to be held and logged myself off nearby.

The day of the wedding I was actually running a bit late ended up logging in after the ceremony had begun. But, the moment I logged in, I nearly crapped myself because immediately offscreen I could see the names of 20-30 players pop-up and almost all of them were red. As anyone who had played UO in the first few years knows, seeing a red name come up on the side of your screen instantly triggered a fight-or flight response and personally I always ran (and usually died), but eventually I realized I had nothing to lose but a candle, a book, and a dagger so I made my way toward the wedding party. The bridge and groom were both PKs(Player-Killers) which explained why nearly everyone else was, and they were lined up in two facing rows in front of a Tower's steps leaving an aisle between them and using the steps as a sort of altar. Of course, since it was a wedding, and because games with open-world PvP and Full Loot meant that even PKs policed themselves, no one thought to kill off a wedding guest.

The first rude thing I did was to push myself into the row of attendants standing immediately beside the bride, which meant I was actually standing on top of one of them. The second thing, the thing I regret, was that somehow I got it into my head to take my dagger and attack the bride while they were in the middle of exchanging vows. I don't know why I did it, but assume that it was because I rarely found myself so close to a PK with no real risk and also because I was 12 or 13 and lacked the appropriate level of empathy.

To be honest, what happened next was sort of funny. Immediately the bride's avatar involuntarily went into attack mode and started grunting and moaning as I was stabbing her. I assumed I would be killed pretty much instantly, but because everyone was crammed together, I was sort of hidden behind a character with a larger profile because of his armor and cape, and because the dagger wasn't causing any flashes or big booms no one reacted at all. After about 10 seconds or so the bride yelled out something like "He's Attacking Me!" kind of incredulously like she couldn't believe it was happening or that no one was reacting. At this point, even knowing that my death wouldn't matter at all, my instincts to survive kicked in and in the chaos of everyone shifting around to find figure out who was attacking her I managed to slip away and took off. Eventually they saw me running away and came after me, but because they were piled together, couldn't pass through each other except slowly one at a time, and had left all their mounts inside the Tower, I managed to get pretty far away before they could catch up. Luckily the island, like any flat land in UO, was completely covered in houses, towers and castles and so I was able to find a good place to hide. They went around for awhile using the reveal spell to try and uncover me, but eventually they gave up and went back to the wedding.

It may not seem like much of grief at first, especially since I was just a newbie and did very little damage with the dagger, but being that I essentially ruined what was a rather well planned and rehearsed wedding I think it was one of the worse things I've ever done in a game. Unfortunately these types of in-game ceremonies don't carry the same weight they did back in the early online gaming days so newer gamers may not be able to relate, but trust me when I say it was an asshole move.

Did players really want UO's Trammel and SWG's CU/NGE or did developers just think players wanted them?
