Well too bad, the world isn't going free to play so that you can enjoy everything while being cheap. Now let's take a quick look at lowering the cost, it is a false assumption by people that because a game is not the biggest on the block that it needs to reduce it's prices. It is still expensive to create and run a game, so those sub prices become even more important when you aren't the biggest MMO around.

So because in your mind you can't think of how difficult it could be to merge servers you feel that it in fact must be easy. That is as silly as it gets. They have repeatedly said a list of reasons on why merging servers is both difficult and not a good idea. Also for your statement "I bet there would be many people that would be happy to merge even if they lost all items that matched" are you kidding me? That right there would cause most of the loyal players to cancel their subs immediately. That is the most ridiculous and close minded statement I have ever heard in my life.

This really was a poorly thought out approach to changes to the game and to be honest your ideas and reasons for them are just terrible.

You realy should not assume things, I am sure you know why. After the comment above the theory holds true.

Lower cost is the only chance of bringing more players, or f2p with cash items. This game will not get new subs at 12 something a month period. You say "its still expensive to create and run a game" Lets see the subs when this game was new and for the next 4 years well covered any cost of making this game. Keeping this game runnung is expensive...I wouldnt say expensive but yes there is a cost. That leads me right back to lower the price and get more subs, right now its a ghost town.

So because in your mind you can't think of how difficult it could be to merge servers you feel that it in fact must be easy. That is as silly as it gets. There ya go again assuming... "In your mind I cant think of how difficult it could be" Hrmm lets see who has a degree in It tech and Server administration...could it be? Me..Who has actually ran servers hosting multiple games and hosting websites... could it be? Me.. Lets see I offer to poll the AC base to see if they would mind losing items. You assume again they would cancel right there no questions asked... Who is close minded? You....

This really was a poorly thought out approach to changes to the game and to be honest your ideas and reasons for them are just terrible.

Well I would have to disagree and say that your response is what was not thought out. Full of assumptions and anger maybe you can come up with something constuctive...

Well I say we go a little easier on the OP atleast he was trying. He had some good things he just didnt go into enough detail on them.

I have thought of somethings that no one has mentioned yet aswell that I loved about AC.

The clan/allegiance system. It was worth ones time to go out and look for vassels. I am not sure if everyone knows what that means but a vassel is somsone who would swear allegiance under you. In return for that you would help them with many apsects of the game, from general questions about the game, to armor and weapons, to body recovery:). You were what is called there patron. Now you could have several vassels and each one would give you a % of xp. It would not be taken away from them, Just something extra you got for helping them. Now this also went on up the chain and down, If they in time got a couple of vassels then they would be recieving XP from them in turn passing more up to you, And if you had a patron yourself it would pass more up to him all the way to the monarch. Now as one had more vassels and vassels with vassels everyones rank went up and there were titles for these ranks up to king, thane ect. This system also made people a little more responsable, if there was some dill head in the clan people would be like who is that guys patron? and it was easy to tell you could click on him and see that information.

Also I would like to expand on something mentined before about complete character controll. Every time you use skills the do go up in this game, If you are trained or specialized in it. If you are trained in magic defence and something tries to hit you with magic and you resist you magid D will go up, this works the same for using weapons. Now along with this going up you also earn experience wich some of that goes into your leveling pool so that you increase in level and then there is a pool of experience left for your to spend however you like. You could So fine tune your character exactly the way you like it was crazy. If you wanted you could have a character specialized in shooting war magic and also specialized in shooting a bow and a sword for that mater. Now this would not be advised because you are spending your skill points on this and you would want to spend them on complimentory skills like for war magic you would want mana converions, that way all of your spells would cost you less mana to cast. But you had the choice. I could make a character with specialized dagger and specialized in lock picking also let say in melee defence, Now lets say I wanted him to be able to buff himself up. I could also train him in creature magic Item magic and Life magic. You also have to spend your experience on your stats. Like Strength, Endurance, Coordination, Quickness, Focus, Self. Those are base stats that help improve the things you trained in or specialized. So you can put points into those base stats and or directly into the skills.

Also they had some really cool skills like Run and Jump, how many times have you wished you could move faster in current mmorpgs? You can crank your run and jump in AC to insaine amounts. But remember doing this takes those XP points you could be spending on Spear or Crossbow or other skills.

Here is another thing I thought was huge about AC, they used to do this back in the day all the time not sure about now, but they had Live events with the Devs playing Huge villians or something. It was a blast.

They have massive Lore and quests if that is your thing yet you can play the game with out ever knowing any lore or doing any quests.

They also have a very unique set of monsters in the game. There have been so many games from EQ to WoW and many inbetween that have Foxes and Spiders and Bears and ect ect. Well how about some Hoary Mattikars, or some Noble Olthois, Maybe some Jebrit Zefirs or Umbris Shadows, throw in some Mosswats, a Gnawer Shreth and a few Drudges and we have a party now, And there are hundres and hundreds more.

They have many types of armors and you can tinker them up as you like, tinkering is crafting, there you can choose xactly what you want to tinker your armor with. Do you want to make it more resistant to certan types of damage or do you want it to have more Armor Level, or maybe have a lower value so you do not drop it on your corpse when you die. Would you like to Dye it purple or black well there is that too. There is cooking, Alchemy, Fletching, Lockpicking, Item Tinkering, Magic Item Tinkering, Armor, TInkering, Weapon Tinkering.

AC was/is a great game.

Yes its dated graphics, exspecially when creating characters. Once a get in and get your amor and helm on though you dont notice that much. Yes the other graphics are dated. The mobs are still very cool and the amazingness of the game and character customization as far as skills and stats go makes up for it.

Yes it is very low population. They really need to do something about that. Or we all need to resub and make it like the AC of old days.

I would very much recomend for turbine to think hard about there populationand server merging, also the cost of there game, it is to high for its age. I have been with turbine from day one it seams I have been through the good and the bad. I had high hopes for Asherons Call 2 and DDO Neither of them were as I had hoped. Although I think Turbine was crazy to close AC2 and not bring it back at some point. I will stand by Turbine for a while longer because they gave me my first and only true love in mmorpg Asherons Call. I just hope they dont let me down by not making the needed changes to AC. Or making a new game with similar good qualities from AC with all new story, classes, mobs, graphics, but keep the huge open world and the massivley customizable character building..

Well heres to hopeing, I apologize for any mispellings or typos ahead of time its very late....GNight  *shakefist*

Hello all I am an original Asheron's Call player. I played that game for years and years. It holds the number one spot in my heart for mmorpg games. On this note I would like to say I have returned recently, to find sadness and emptyness. Hear is what I feel must be done.

I do not know how much turbine really cares to improve AC I do know they keep updating it and are adding two handed weapon skill soon. So they do put effort into it. If they do not want to die a slow lonely death they really need to do a few things.

First and foremost Server Merges, Probably all into one server, besides Dark Tide(PK Server).

Now I have heard many reasons this is not possible, from old code to item ID numbers are the same on different servers. So if Joe blow owns an Item on Leafcull well john smith may own the same item on Frostfell. They have the same Item number and there is not enough room to combine and hand out new numbers.

Also housing, one person might own the exact same cottage or mansion or different servers. And Names, people names may be the same. My thoughts on this are as follows. Names, when the merge happens put the abbreviations of original server after the name So joe Blow becomes Joe Blow LC  (from Leafcull) with the opprotunity to change there name. Housing well there is such a small population of people I think they could pull out 90% of the housing. Apartments, I would be supprised if anyone has one. So out of the Cottages and mansions that are rented, if they are in the same location as another person or clan from another realm. Scoot them over a hundred yards or so, and again give them the opprotunity for a free move.

And with the new rescources from closing 4-5 servers and most the housing that is empty. It would seam you could use a whole server to run a program thatr changes items numbers adding a letter and number combonatin, to create new item numbers.

Hell if all that doesnt work I bet there would be many people that would be happy to merge even if they lost all items that matched. It is no fun to play an empty game.

Secondly...They really need to not be at 12.95 or watever it is per month. Either free to play with an Item mall, including out of game items like old nastalgic ac items shirts ect.  I was goin to say or cost arround 3-5 dollars a month but with games like runes of magic and DDO now being free I dont know if anything but going free to play would work.

My last but least in priority would be some melee and missile enhancement to the game. I like there two handed idea, I think they shoould also add a dual weild for the wayfarer type. Now that doesnt help the missile characters but I am sure they can figure something out.

Anyhow those are just my thoughts. I wish Asheron's Call nothing but the best and hope to see some drastic changes soon.

Oh I didnt realize it didnt match....

Title was "game out already elsewhere?"

First line in post was "So this game is another kor or C game thats going to be made into North American?"

So in the title I am asking is this game already made and out somewhere in the world? and in my first line I am wondering and asking is this game a chinese or korean game thats being remade into english ie is there somewhere I might see that this game is out already or try it sooner even if in another language..

Sorry If I was confusing That however was the main questions of my post. My follow up of well if it is out already and is being converted to english, atleast that kind of thing is comming along better in the recent years.

I have to agree on the games you mentioned, All very interesting upcumming games. I just hope they dont meet the same fate as alot of the other games in the last years, Tabula, SWG, Conan,Warhammer, ect ect

Yes I to will definatly try as long as they mage it both pve and pvp. I like my pvp when I want to do it and not be forced to full pvp all the time. Some may say carebear I say I just like to have different types in the same game. Somedays I just want to go out and wander arround the world explorering or questing. Anyhow I hope they are able to apeal to many types of players.

So this game is another kor or C game thats going to be made into North American? I suppose they are getting better at that. I just am wondering whats happening with the US developers.? I know they have made some decent games, but it seams nothing truelly amazing for a hile now.

I just dont understand either. I mean there is so many good ideas from games old and new, why not take the good from each and some innovative new Ideas and make something So good, people can not help but play it?

I have been wishing this for years... dont thihnk its gonna happen. If it did I would sure play it. BUt I think they would have to adress the fact of the lack of skills in melee and archery. The mage has several different spells, war mage and life mage. Were as the melee and archery it just a one click deal no special moves. Hit or miss. Anyhow I had a petition to do this once up at petitions.com althoug I never advertised or posted anywhere about the petition it found a few people.

Cyberknight

Well thats cool I am glad there are actually people that have won. I always wondered about contest and figured they were pretty much a waste of time. I kept however signing up for them here everytime I would come and check out the site.

So spose I will keep at it.

Grind Grind Grind PVP Gring Gear Grind Level Grind

Back in the olden Asheron's Call Days there didnt seem to be the grind factor. It was huge and the quests were not always so inline with the level and progression of the game. You could go look up quests and then figure out where they started and go do them with al kinds of people. Like Frore I forget if that is how it was spelled. But there were many many many quests and not of wich you felt you needed to do or you would just go grind. I dont know I spose it all has to do with what games have become over the years now everything is down to a science, Everyone figureds out the numbers the rate, the percentages, ect ect you know what I mean.  Todays games are alot of gear and items and no so much about character building. Back in Ac every level you hasd so many experience point each level to put into skills heck if ya wanted you could be an axer and a war mage at the same time all beit you would not be a very good character if ya tried to split the points up like that, Because you were able to pick each point ya wanted into all of your stats, health stamina, Coordination, Strength, Quickness, weapons, ect ect ect. Nowit seems there is some character building but its usually just in the way of a tree where ya pick what ya want to be not the indepth backbone of the character.

I spose maybe thats where games are headed. less customization and more leet uber gear. It does make people sink time into the game wich keeps subscriptions going. But I also see that there are still quite a few subscribers to Asherons Call and its what almost 9 years old. Inferior graphics by far. But the world was fun... FUN... there were events Alot of them there was a massive storyline. I know there are events and storylines to games now but somehow its just not the same.
