Jumpgate: Evolution: Interview With Hermann Peterscheck

Front page, you spelled Evolution wrong. It shows as "Evoltuion". Just a FYI to fix, its fine in the post, but on the little thing that highlights new editor articles it is spelled wrong. |

If you want a big waste of time, totally play this game. Its graphics are on par with...a flaming turd. But hey, if you find long long long leveling time, a horrible transportation system, clunky controls, a very immature player base fun, then go for it. You also must be at least 70% masochist to get past lvl 10. |

Haha yeah, nothing like being about to win and having 5000 plasma shots fly everywhere. S'all good, I read they're planning on starting IP banning as well as an automatic banning system. Kinda like in WoW where if you move too fast it d/cs you...or in this case, shoot too fast. |

Yap, been about....4 or 5 years since it went P2P? Well, its finally free again. No more 30-min guest crap. They are also in the process of putting out a map editor so players can make their own maps and submit them to be voted on and hosted. To those of you who remember the good ol' days of this game...they're back. Minus our lovely Twin Peaks map sadly. Personally, I'm hoping that someone makes a new TP map w/ the editor. To those of you who have never experienced Infantry, i'll give ya a little background info on it. To begin with, its a top-down shooter. You log in, pick your class (Infiltrator, Infantry, Sci-Ops, Heavy Weapons, Bio Chem, Medic, Engineer or Squad Leader) and begin to pwn. The game began in 1998 with the Infantry Alpha version ran by Harmless Games. From there it enjoyed about 4 years of prosperity. Then in 2002 I believe, SOE bought it from HG and made it P2P. While this is a great game, paying to play it just wasn't worth it, especially when they got rid of the Twin Peaks map. It will be rough starting at first as you need to learn the basics and definitely how to circle strafe. The most popular map ATM is Extreme CTF. It maxes out at 150 players per arena. It is basically a giant game of CTF. Players can form their own teams and try to capture all 4 of the flags scattered about the map. For those who don't have a team to play with, the game has default teams that are made up of those who didnt choose a custom team. Once you get a flag, you then find a good place to set up your base. Hopefully you'll have an engineer to set up turrets and a SL/Medic to summon. After that its all about defending your flag while trying to send people out to capture the rest. The first team to hold all 4 flags for 60 seconds wins the round and is awarded a nice bit of cash and experience. In any case, I hope some of you who haven't played come and try it out. Be sure to give it a chance, it can be a bit tough before you learn the ropes, but once you get the hang of it you'll have a blast. As for those of you who used to play before P2P...welcome back =). You can find the game here http://infantry.station.sony.com/en/main.jsp. |

Knowing SOE I'm surprised they haven't rolled back the game to Pre-CU for a month, let everyone sign up/buy again, and then put the NGE/CU back in. |

Fight to the death at will! (Open PVP Looting too)

The same idea should apply to open pvp. If you murder a random person and take their stuff then you are now wanted. Any place with a guard will get you arrested, thrown in jail, and the item you stole or cash value of it taken away and returned to the original owner. I personally would love to have open pvp with item looting. Just make it so that the risk is worth the reward. Player A works to complete a quest and get a nice item. Player B murders Player A in cold blood and loots said item. Player A reports Player B to the nearest guard and has a warrant put out for his arrest. Player B can no longer go into cities with guards for a set period of time. Player C checks wanted poster and goes in search of Player B. Player C finds Player B and engages him/her in combat. Player C kills Player B and removes the stolen item + a few of Player B's items. Player C returns the stolen item to a guard and it is mailed to Player A. Player C may receive a reward, although I would prefer to see the reward as the items taken from Player B. If Player B had been able to avoid being caught/killed for a set period of time his warrant would go away. Say two or three PLAYED days. Timer doesn't go down when logged off. That'd be my ideal game setting right there. Sure you can murder someone and take their stuff; just dont expect it to be easy. |

Personally i'd like to see a level based pvp server. That is, you can only attack people +/- 5-10 lvls of you. I think it make for some REAL pvp on the way leveling up. Mind you, I've always played on PvP servers cuz I friggin' love ganking (full epic 70 Hunter ftw ^^), but I would really enjoy leveling on a server that encourages equal level pvp.

As for best, it all depends on how you play. I go into every fight w/ my hunter expecting to win. Most of the time I do, other times I'm outplayed. Try every class to at least 25 and see how you like it. |

The game is crap anyways, who cares?

Go to your PlayNC account and click add game. Put your trial key in. It should say game added. Then go back to your main account page, click on the "Information" button on the CoH trial you put in, and it should give you a link to their direct download. |

Thanks for all the replies, I'm much more confident in buying it now. As I said previously, I have to go through best buy since that is where my only CC is. I also figured it was costly...but seeing as how I can't build a PC through best buy, I guess i'll have to end up paying more. |

Looking to get a half-way decent PC for the new MMO's coming out. At this point, my comp can't even handle City of Heroes, and dies in Shatt on WoW. Only CC I have atm is my Best Buy one, which is tied up already w/ $2000 for a laptop, have about $1600 left on my credit limit to spend there. I was looking at this http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8308164&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat103700050055&id=1173577735222. I'm not too savvy when it comes to hardware, so I was hoping someone could rate it for me. Its really all I can afford right now since I have to finanace, so I was hoping someone would know if it would even be worth buying. Any input from hardware savvy people would be appreciated.
