But no, I don't think devs give a dime about this site. Heh, I often think they don't even check their respective official game's forums.

^This and as another poster said, many members use the site mainly for beta keys or whatever giveaways are going down that month.  

Don't let the mods fool ya otherwise.  However, even the info and opinions tend to be skewed here as well so take most with a grain of salt as they say.

Sure they were not all voice over.  But just look at SW:TOR about what you get with full voice over. It's not the holy grail.

Also the heavily instanced world, no-one wants to log on with a friend, both standing in the same area only to find you're in two different instances of the same zone. Nothing 'MMO' about that. Also, the faction castles etc were all instanced too, there wasn't much of a persistant 'MMO' aspect to Conan at all. That was the killer for me. On the plus side, its still one of the best MMO's in the last 10 years for me. Very homey, great soundtrack, awesome combat, great graphics, awesome storyline, great animation, good game-play, etc. 

See D-Tox, I understand where you're coming from in regard to your first part of the paragraph.  But on the second part you say...

This is what makes this game really, really good, (imo).

I wish more people would take a second look at this gem of an MMO.  And hopefully the new crafting system will help.

What I can't fathom is knuckleheads jumping on the "failcom" band wagon because it wasn't the PvP beast they hoped for.  My point is...  ...Recognize a good game for what it is, even if it's not what you thought it might be.  aka... a "hardcore" PvP MMO.

 

i dont consider them failcom..funcom is one of the only companies that takes a chance doin something different.Age of Conan is a fantastic game in pretty much all departments now..especially with the new crafting system upcoming.TSW is just a sublime mmo..it does not cater for the masses but its still an exceptional game.

i do get it sometimes when people critisise..i remember the launch of AOC..not very good..but now its extremely stable with the new dreamworld engine.atm graphically funcom have the 2 best looking mmo's on the go not to mention great stories from both as well.

You say you wanted as it is a bad thing. TSW sold quite poorly and is showing declining sub numbers on top of that, so I guess it is not what many people wanted.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but saying a company is "Failcom" without substantuating it seems petty to me.

All of this is subjective, as it is my opinion on the matter:

 

1. Combat Mechanics are terrible. Balance issues persist, and I'm not trying to say balance in the way that it'll be an even playing field. I'm saying balance as in, everyone is pigeon holed to a cookie cutter build in order to be effective. It may be an ability wheel and it's cool and all, but the same thing like trees.....there are A LOT of useless abilities. Problems linger and sure enough you got everyone playing like each other instead of variety, which is what was one of their selling point.

2. Combat Animations are still terrible. I'm sorry, that breaks "immersion" for me.

3. No levels you say? Replace levels with QL gear. Same ol same ol.

4. PvP is a joke. Even with the changes. There are many threads and opinions on that that share my own.

5. Subscription numbers DO matter, especially for a small company like Funcom. They NEED every single number they can get. Didn't you read the latest investor's report? It's pretty dismal and somewhat pessimistic. Which isn't their MO when they usually have these investor reports. They're usually delusionally optimistic.

The ONLY thing this game had going for it was the following:

1. Theme

2. Story (which is by far leaps and legions beyond LOLSWTOR)

 

[mod edit] They failed to sell 1M which was their goal. They failed to retain numbers. They failed to GET more sub numbers.

Now, Fail is also subjective. But in MY SUBJECTIVE view, they failed pretty bad.

 

P.S: For all of you that keep saying it was NEVER marketed as a PvP game.....It WAS marketed as a PvX game. Both PvE and PvP. They kept pushing that 3 faction stuff whenever they could. I'd dig up the quote from Ragnar himself, but I'm too lazy and frankly, I really don't care. My opinion is my opinion. :D
