The way they implemented the "combos" in AoC makes the combat tedious and slow-paced, in my opinion.  I'm glad they are planning to change it further.

 

The combos are in the first place a feature that you only can achieve as a result of you performing a combination of strokes i.e. to upper left, up,lower left and whatever. If you did not combine various strokes it wouldn't be combination would it?? I love the fact that I can decide if I want to strike upper left or lower right, depending on where the opponent has his guard. How can enjoy attack in only one direction on one opponent at the time with no combinability?

They have been testing the new shorter combos on the test server, it is one of the things you will get to play with when patch 3.0 comes out.

And word on the street is that AoC isn't worth the cost of the first month's gametime (which is free).

The combat in AoC is a button masher's wet dream.

It is realy cool that to use 1 combo you have to mash 5 buttons (in a certain order)

EQ2 had this style of combo system several years ago, except that if you were in a party, everyone participated in the combo (they were called "Heroic Opportunities").

The best part was that EQ2's combo system allowed casters to use the combos as well

Lol, sure they have 200k subs  Have you actually been online recently? EU servers are very low populated. 2-3 have medium population, others are ghost towns. Maybe all those 200k players are from NA?

 

Yes mate I understand that it feels like the servers are getting more empty. but for example  EQ2 has 2 Euro server only, Vanguard has 6 servers in total (EU+NA) yet SoE is still in business.
AoC has more subs that those 2 games mate.

EQ2 and Vanguard are only 2 of SOE's games (Eq2 has around 20 NA servers).

You are comparing apples to oranges, FC has dug a huge hole for themselves,if they have 200,000 accounts now (which I highly doubt), I can see them loosing half of those if they don;'t come out with upper lvl content very soon (which as far as I have read, won't happen for sevearl more months).

I hope other development houses are paying attention to the FC/AoC debacle and take it as a sign of what happens when you do everything wrong.

I you knew marketing, you'd know that it's perfectly normal human behaviour to vent out your anger and warn other potential players if a bad product. There's an old saying in marketing, "happy customer tells a friend, unhappy customer tells 10 friends". This has been proven a fact by many studies.

What is NOT normal is some people coming here every day, telling people how great the game is and how everyone should buy it.

I don't care about marketing. I play the game, I don't post a bunch of hype about the game, and I contstantly see the negative attitude towards the game.

This is an AOC forum.. Why wouldn't you expect to see some people talking about there good experiences.. All that the OP stated was that they are fixing a lag issue.. WHY THE ATTACK!!?!?!

It is not like this guy is in a general forum trying to draw players from other games, he is in HIS forum talking about good news.

Warhammer has a great idea in the RvR keep sieges, but the combat feels very bland and boring. SWG NGE isn't the sandbox that we remember, but it IS Star Wars.

Obviously, we're all hardcore Star Wars fans. We have been following the TOR rumors for a year, and we're estatic that the game has been announced. The only problem is, it's going to be quite a long time before we get to play it! I wouldn't be surprised if this takes well over a year, if not two years to complete. Two years is a very long time for a guild to not be satisfied. We have to keep moving, and stay active.

So this is what I'm getting at: The old SWG veterans sparked interest in SWG now that TOR has been announced, and we're wondering if anyone else are in our shoes. Putting aside the judgement, hatred, and despise towards SOE, has TOR sparked your interest in SWG? Be honest with us, because we're hoping we aren't the only ones.

P.S. Most of us have our toons on Bloodfin, while there are still some that are stuck on Kauri. SOE has announced a free character transfer for early next year, but that's quite some time away.

haven't been interested in SWG since 2005, nothing about SW:TOR makes me interested in SWG, it is still ran by SOE, it is still post CU/NGE, Smedley still lives..

I would try it after the 3.0 monster giga-ultimate patch but only if someone else pays for my sub.

I have already given FC too much money and not gotten anything out of it, I barely played during my last month (would log in, realise I had more important things to do, like re-arranging my sock drawer) and log out. I played maybe 7 hours of the last month.

So no, I doubt anything they do now will get people back that already left. We already bought a lemon and returned it, there is no reason to go back and re-buy the same lemon.

Lol, there hasn't been leagions of anything in AoC for a long time :) But you are right, there are a lot of lvl 80 players in Kheshatta who are bored and have nothing else to do than gank lowbies. It's really difficult to play a lvl 70-75 character in Kheshatta because you get ganked every 30 sec without a reason.

Personally I don't mind ganking but most people do because it makes leveling up much faster. I really wish FC would implement some meaningful endgame content.

 

What level are you? Do you really play the game now?? I am asking as there is no incentive to kill anyone that is 7 lvls lower (no XP reward). The socalled ganking can therefore  only be Lvl 80 people going after 80-74 Lvl guys. That is faire. A Lvl 74 can take out a Lvl80 if the Lvl 74 guys has the knowhow. Also patch 3.0 that is out any moment now brings the Notoriety system which basically flag you as a Criminal or Murderer if you touch players lower than 7 Lvls below. The talk about the notoriety system has been so massive that it really surprises me that you did not capture this. Ask some of the guys that has played on the Test server for more info.

You have already stated that your character is only in their 40s, how can you know what a lvl 74 can do?

If you would ever read the AoC forums, you would know that there are lots of people waiting for the noteriety system so they can kill lower levels just to be a murderer, since there is very litle in game content, to the standard high lvl AoC player being a murderer is the only content they will have.

The noteriety system will just be a way for the gankers to get their jollies by murdering, nothing will change.

Oh, when will 3.0 come out? it has been over almost a month and a half since the last patch...

Personaly we still don't have enough information to tell what the game will be like, if  you have an issue with your perception of the game, you should email LEC and Bioware and explain how "let down" you are about the game, and how it doesn't meet your qualified expectations I'm sure they will change everything to your liking as quickly as possible.

You could provide usefull suggestions in the suggestion area of the AoC forums, hang out with people that think the way you do, discussing all the ways that AoC makes you feel good. There is so much you could do to help, yet you choose not to, why?

You choose to spend all your time on the MMORPG forums marketing AoC, you have no interest in any other game but AoC, even when you post in the "general discussion" area, it is about AoC. If you love AoC so much, why do you hate the AoC community and the AoC forums so much, why don't you support the AoC community and post there rather than post inane drival here?

You aren't interested in being part of the MMORPG community, you are just marketing for Funcom, and doing a poor job.

Please don't wait till this weekend, you know so much about AoC, you should be able to write at least a couple of pages on the subject.

The only games to even get close to this hate was Vanguard and the NGE...and then not like this insane mob stylings of everyone taking on an SOE-Fail signature avatar image or something...

Yet, SOE CONSTANTLY does this crap to their customers..

We are not talking about 5 games after the NGE debacle SOE has released what one game since then *shrugs* and the truth is even with bullet points what Funcom does outweighs what soe or turbine may have done to alienate their customers.

I played DDO and it was boring which is simple I bought it tried it didn't like it I don't harp on it but at the same time there aren't all these other glaring problems to give people reasons to hate them and rally against them. No missing box features I mean there could have been a question mark by literally every bullet point on AOC box something was wrong with everything they advertised on it. Then they still denied all of these problems. And for the record I still see people bashing soe so please stop trying to talk as if everything in SOE is roses and there is some huge conspiracy against FUNCOM they did this to themselves.

 

 

Well part of the problem is that a lot of people talk about gameing experiences they had like months back. And as they present their issues typically in bulletpointstyle as the facts of today. Fanbois are very ready to jump posts like these and ripp them appart with statements such as " You are outdated, all that stuff has been patched in weeks ago". I can see that you think this is a problem. It must be annoying that nobody try to negate your view and the very real problems you had. It must be even more annoying when somebody post something that is so different from your experience that it looks more like an lie than anything else. This is the hart of the problem I think. You have to leave in the possibility that you might not be up to date anymore. You are not sitting with the undisputable thruth even though you have 5 Lvl 80's. The moment you miss out on massive patching, most of your issues could be resolved even without you knowing it.

I am not saying fanbois are innocent here, but OMG I see many of these "Missing Box features posts" that are so wrong that Fanbois are bound to get totally unhinged. We need as a community to work ourself through these issues as things get up to speed. Since you still post in the AoC forum you obviously must still have some interest in the game. Perhaps you should just resub and try the game yourself.

If he is posting in AoC he already is subscribed, FC will not allow you to post without an account, If they did, then the folks angry with the game could post there instead of venting here on MMORPG.

I myself think that they could spend their time more wisely by helping their fellow players, being more a part of their game's community, spending time on the games official forums,  listening to criticism without falsely stating that there are no flaws, and not acting like salesmen and marketers with agendas.

I can't  believe how willfully ignorant some people are, I accept that they love the game, I accept that they enjoy playing it, I even accept that they may not be experiencing any problems in game. What I can't accept is them acting like everyone should ignore the problems, pay for a game they don't enjoy, and agree with them wholeheartedly. Most of these folks don't give any reason for why they enjoy the game, they do not wish to have any reasonable discourse, they cannot admit being wrong when called on by someone, they just claim "the game is great 10/10" no matter what the subject of the thread.

I get so tired of seeing posts on game forums from some idiot asking how to set up the game on his 5 year old laptop with an integrated, memory sharing  graphics card.

Unless you recently purchased it, and it is rated as a "gaming notebook" computer, chances are you shouldn't load any modern games on it.

If you have an antique rig (2 years or more older) You aren't a "Gamer", stop pretending to be. Go to newegg.com and upgrade your relic (at least your memory and video card).

Well I feel that since the game was just announced, and we have little to no information about what will and will not be in the game, unreasonable expectations should be withheld untill more is known about the game. Pretending that you know more than the developers at this stage is just a tad redicules

You should be emailing LEC and Bioware all the ideas and suggestions that you have about how you want the game to work. Wasting all your creativity and insight here in the MMORPG forums is a little pointless, isn't it? The developers could probably care less about unfounded criticism from any posts made by anonymous posters here on the MMORPG forums.

I just want a game that is entertaining, fun  and based on one of the most popular IPs in the world

As far as "sandboxers" go...

I know what can be found in Sandboxes (children, broken toys, germs and cat poop). If you want a real "sandbox" game play pen & paper RPGs, then you can use your imagination and creativity to it's fullest extent, you can design your own adventures, and play in open environments, with no limitations.

first off, we don't have enough information to judge the game yet. Don't you think crying "doom&gloom is a little premature?

How can you even conceive that one game (one single tiny game) among hundreds of others will be the end of MMOs. If you don't like the game, don't play it, but stop all the "quivering lip" crap, it is just silly.

If the game doesn't suit you, thats great. I think that there are a lot of people that will play it and enjoy it perfectly fine without you being there, you can play any game you like, but I bet you whine just as much abouth them, as well.

It is still in alpha and you are already crying about things that might change, if it is even an actual screen shot. Besides, It ain't about graphics, it is about gameplay.
