Age of Conan: Guild Interview Part One, North America
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 11/03/08 9:25:18 PM
Nukacola: Please write more coherently. And please organize your post a bit better, it is difficult to tell what you are whinning about. You are correct about your views of the AoC community, the reason for that is AoC is a bad game, bad games mean upset, whinney players. Why would you bother to write two guides for people you can't stand? There are larger guilds, but they are on Cimmeria, the most populated server I know. Tranny doesn't hold a candle to Cimmeria's population. And chiding people to "learn to play" when you play the absolutely easiest class in AoC is just silly (sort of like a Guardian telling a conquerer to "learn to tank better"). And any 14 year old with fraps can make PVP videos. Congradulations on your new MMORPG account. You will have good company with the rest of the new members from AoC.
Avery: Please stop throwing month old interviews that are full of outdated information up here on MMORPG, that is just sad. How old is the 2nd interview with the guild from Norway..I mean EU that you are going to put up later? But the interview was very well written, so good job on that... |

Age of Conan: Guild Interview Part One, North America
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 11/03/08 1:51:50 PM
I too was dissapointed that the guild interviewed was a very tiny guild with very little experience with raiding and Sieging. I was also dissapointed that the guild was an old AO guild. So they may be somewhat biased towards Funcom (I'm not saying they are, but that is my perception considering they seem to be very fond of AO and Craig the game director). Why couldn't you find a larger guild that has more experience in raiding and sieging? On another note, I can see that the leader is not fond of the community, he considers them clueless, and he is happy with the "FOTM" OP Bear Shaman Class. Overall the interview was very well written, but lacks substance due to the lack of experience exhibited by a very small guild, and the guild seems to have been "cherry picked" to get answers that the interviewer wanted to hear. Next time find a guild that isn't heavily into AO, and that may be a bit more unbiased. |

Well, AOC and WAR didn't turn out to be Vanguard killers
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 11/03/08 11:39:29 AM
Heck, I thought Vanguard itself was a Vanguard killer.. But by joining the SOE lineup, it should have a long life, they tend to keep their games forever no matter if they are living or dead. |

I'm sure you are having fun, some people are easily amused. The 3.0 patch brought more bugs from what I hear and the PVP patching isn't complete yet. You go ahead and enjoy your very tiny, unfinished world, raiding the same dungeons over and over, populated by neanderthals, while I enjoy my huge landscapes, with an awesome community that doesn't need to hype & market to survive.

Two Bear Shamman...
They have great DPS and good heals, very easy to play due to being OP as compared to almost all other classes. And the best thing is you don't have to be very good to play them |

A 5 is the average mark and AoC is below average on every level besides graphics and fan worship. To bad that graphics and marketing doesn't count higher than gameplay, otherwise AoC might have gotten a better score. It would take six months and another four patches before the game could even think of hitting a 7-8. Of course with four patches worth of bugs, it might take eight months.

This is the most confusing thing I have read in a while. Let me just reassure you that other developers are as bad if not worse. I.e. I was trying to play WAR sometime back, but I was unable to run it due to bugs and performance issues. I posted and posted hoping to get help with my game, but I would not get anything else but fanbois telling me to shut my lies up. Look, where WAR is today. It is down the drain and already merging 22 servers out of operation. Do you think it's because they are so fantastic listeners. Hardly.. Keep things in perspective. And yes, I have seen suggestions from people ingame in AoC being implemented and complains being taken into consideration. FC is not a saint but this image you are projecting of just another developer is just completely off the charts.
Oddly enough, I had the exact same problems in the first 3 months trying to play AoC (how long has War been out?) If you would read the AoC forums (specificly the TL forums), you will see that the test players complain about bugs, then when the patch hits live, those bugs are still there, meaning that AoC doesn't listen to their players. Aoc ignored the problems for four full months before admitting that there were problems, sure they are being addressed now, but they have already proven that they could give a rodent's behind about you aor anyone that plays their games. And it isn't just AoC, they did the same thing with AO, they didn't get their crap together for 8-9 months with that game. FC has a history of lying to and ignoring their customers, I'm not saying that they are the only company that does this, but FC has done this for the two MMOs they have made that I played. |

Any game released this year has had bugs in their patches for example - common knowledge. As for the posts on the official boards, I assume you mean the one made by Krakkken (check post history). Then again you could always go server specific forums / guild specific forums and see the guilds loving it... Better yet have you logged in and even tried??? honestly?
I'l go look for Krakken's post (he is a bit of an ass sometimes)... But I wasn't necessarily talking about just the current patch, I'm talking about every patch that AoC has released, I read the TL forums, and it seems that a lot of the bugs that they complained about were the same bugs that we got to complain about on the live servers. And as far as your comment about "all the games realeased this year", how many games was that? Oh yeah, that was AoC and that "other game" that AoC players hate. And no I have not tried since Oct 20, that was when my acct expired. I see no reason to pay for AoC, if they fix the game (add more 80 lvl content, 80 lvl zones, make the crafting worthwhile, and so I can craft higher lvl goods without belonging to a T3 guild, finish class nerfing/buffing) Then I may consider resubbing. Until then FC gets no more money from me

I just got finished with the 14 day free trial, and the EQ2 community seems to be well established, but most players are higher lvl. You may have to check out the forums to see where the more populated servers are, but I never had a problem getting a group in the 14 days I played on Unrest. I think you can pick up EQ2 for about 20 bucks, it may be 30. But try the free 14 day trial, first. |

According to the game director, "they are working on it". but don't get your hopes up, they had so many problems with the graphics in the well established DX9 format, that they may be pushing their luck to get everything working in DX10 |

It has some new patches, but from reading their forums it isn't much to get excited about... I haven't played WarHammer, so couldn't say if either is better than the other, but there are other games than those two to choose from. I would recommend LOTRO, EQ2, COH/COV, Vanguard before recommending AoC to a friend. AoC has a ways to go before I would consider re-subbing.
Good luck on your quest. |

This type of thing happens to lots of other different games patch updates. Sometimes things can work fine on a test server and then when introduced on live new bugs appear. I was PvP'ing in Kesh in level 30's and 60's never encountered the app bug.

Well, first they need to be honest with the server population information, I doubt that all servers are medium. Then they could start working on more upper lvl content for the folks that have already hit 80, so they have something better to do than going on raids to broken raid dungeons and hang around zone entrances acting like teenage thugs at the mini-mart. Adding factions and race specific quests would be nice, they could even get rid of Tortage and have the 3 races start in their own towns so that they all have a completely different quest line to start with, then making alts wouldn't be so painful Get rid of those stupid invisible walls on the sides of gentle inclines Add the whore-houses and other content mentioned pre-release |

Join date tell very much about a poster. In particular when a guy have been in MMORPG in 2 days and posted +50 AoC related posts all of the very very doomish, in a way that reveals that there is no interest at all from the posters side to discuss the game. It's posting driven my other agendas. This is why I take note of join dates. Also another thing. Typical hyperposters, like yourself, also seem to appear in this forum when other hyperposters Vanish. If I was to pull my tinfoil hat on I would say lumache that got banned about the 29th of October now has reappeared as the russian/finish poster Polikarkov.
How can you say that when you have had your account less than a month and have already hit 80 posts? You started the day after the Pest made his "Call-toArms" post on the AoC forums, so I assume you are one of the spin doctors for FC. Pot meet kettle.... AoC may become an 8/10 eventually, but right now it is barely a 5/10 with crafting a 3/10. Give FC another 6 months (at their current rate for updates) and the game will be great, right now the game is just a time-sink. They still won't listen to the test server players and their QA team is the worst in MMO history, the bugs that keep being introduced with every patch combined with the sorry community makes the game unworthy of any MMO fan Are the AoC forums so boring that you have to market here? Or is there another reason? |

That was one of the things I really liked about SWG, the crafting and resource hunting. It would be awesome if AoC could introduce "slave crafting" or "slave harvesting" to the game (I'm not sure if there is enough area in the game to have slaves harvesting though) but anything that would keep me from having to kill thousands of animals far below my level for leather is good in my book. Allowing people to slow your work output by killing your slaves could add more spice to the game, to me crafting was overly simple and harvesting to big a pain in the backside. |
