A moth later they still aren't finished, and in the case of MU they were promised /7/ months ago.

Stop being such a girl, there are a lot more things on the plate to work on in STO before they start appeasing the "Barbie doll dress up crowd".

If you paid extra for a uniform, then you got ripped off.

why is it that everytime I tried to click on this thread title in the 10 second list I was redirected to the whole list of forum sub topics eg the pub general discussion etc? I had to manually look for this hehe from the title of the thread it didnt automatically bring me to it like all the others I click do lol.

I had that to, normaly hapens when they are are checking out a reported post or about to weild the ban hammer. Can't see anything wrong with this so far, but do think three threads by the same poster may be a bit excessive. But I would be pissed off to in his place.

If the MMORPG mods want to close the threads I ask that instead the converge them into one.

2 threads were started by me, 1 was this the other was STO forums up in flames, the other was started by another poster.

Really I would love nothing more than for MMORPG to pick up this story.

That is what we have all been championing the past few days is exposure for this issue.

I am tired and my fingers hurt...I have waged war here, TTH, STO forums, Personal emails to contacts of Atari and Cryptic...I am ready for another to carry on the crusade...

Respectfully,

-Vox

First off, who cares about the offer? Did the offer insult your mother? Did it slap your baby momma around? No, it did you no physical or mental harm.

Wouldn't it be easier just to stop paying them and stop playing the game?

But this vendetta that you have against STO is just stupid, Your post history looks like a one man rage fest.

Dude, step away from the computer, and stay away from MMOs, you obviously can't handle stress very well.

Anyone having rage issues with MMOs should seek help, (http://www.mentalhelp.net/) can get you started on the right path.

" OMFG THIS GAME SUCKS @$$"

Can't totally blame them for getting rid of those threads.

Yes a lot of the threads getting deleted did contain those but the two I was reading the OP did not start out that way. it was the fanbois raging at them bringing up the I quit crap in them and then other fanboys pointing out the I quit crap in the thread would get the thread deleted.
Kind of funny to watch the fanboys go to extreme lengths to quell any opposition.

Could you post some proof?

I'm sure you are not a bald faced liar, but just posting something without proof is heresay.

To be honest, less posts from people who rush through a few week old game expecting massive content at endgame is good.

We need to weed the stupid folks out somehow, and it is illegal to just kill them.

Of course I would play A PVE MMO.

When I really feel the urge to PVP other people I play FPS (twitch) games, they give everyone an even playing field. That way you can see if you are actually better than someone else rather than depend on "uber gear" to win the fight for you.

With almost all PVP MMOs, it is all about what gear you are wearing, I work for a living so cannot compete with the kids that can stay home all day playing the game and gathering the best PVP gear.

MMOs have brought lameness to the PVP arena, and all the PVP gank kiddies can DIAF

i WOULD SAY FIRST MAKE A MEANINGFULL GROUP AND GRUP FIGHTR AND AGRO SYSTEM´,  THEN CARE FOR DEATH PENALTY

as long as all npc shoot at the fist opponent and you are  sometimes insteant tost in a group a death panelty means noone will be first

by the way what is the point in a forced group for missions like scan 5 astroids ?

The complete group system need  changes .. and the way a group fught works first before you should consider penaltys

Learn to use the team controls.

In the social window go to team options and change option from open team to team invite.

No more forced grouping.

It helps to check out all the controls in a game when you start playing.

Just now i have read some guy asking which game to choose AoC or DF. He said he loves AoC but his PvE servers are empty.

Now i began to think: dude, if you chose PvP game like conan, why the heck do you play on PvE server. Not much later a second thought: why ffs the developers advertise AoC as pvp focused game and put PvE servers at all? This is something my logic cannot comprehend.

Then, why people who buy AoC choose PvE servers? Why did they choose AoC if not for pvp? Is single player rpg not 20 times better than any mmo pve side? Cmon is really group boss rape that much fun?

Pretty philosophical thread, maybe some wise guy or gal can answer one of my questions, if not all. Feel free to share opinions and enlighten me.

You have stumbled upon an interesting conundrum....

But it could be the simplest answer....

Funcom and it's fans could be just extremely confused about what they want.

I actually kinda gave up wow. Don't like just spamming the same button for half the day to take down a raid boss.

If you enjoy playing the piano, you will love AoC, you don't  mash just one button all the time, you get to mash 2-6 buttons every attack (more if you use the clunky block ability).

Have fun.

And Bill Roper does not know anything about "listening to their players". He would need to purchase a dummies guide first.

How about you purchase "Understanding MMOs for Dummies" and come back but you probably can't because Scott Hartsman is too busy listening to players getting promoted to Producer by sodomizing his community to allow the sockpuppets to realize his game is just as guilty of everything you mentioned above after 5 years.

Thanks for picking on the fanboy, an EQ2 apologist has even more to contribute... not.

This game needs lots of work, but most of it is the fundamental problems with MMOs as a whole.  Someone needs to design a way to make playing with other people more fun than the typical "let people PVP, group, raid, or do public quest type things."

Every MMORPG is boring and repetitive.  It really isn't the game, what people mainly seem to need is something that isn't going to drive their friends away so that they have someone to play with.  What can we do to mix things up a bit?

A little bitter, aren't you?

I am no EQ2 apologist, I think SOE has a track record for spitting in their customers face.

But I do now a fun and entertaining game when I play one, EQ2 is a fun and entertaining game, whereas Champions online is not (anymore).

Yes this game has issues, and yes the problem lies within the industry. The game companies think that the entire MMO community will accept garbage at launch. (AoC, WAR and DF are examples) .

But the reason they think this way is because there are too many moron gamers that will eat a bucket of crap and tell everyone how wonderful it tastes. The real problem is the low expectations of gamers and the IP fans who (just because they like the IP) will lie about how well a game is doing, when all evidence points at the complete opposite.

Yes men are just ass kissers, ass kissers are useless

And, not every MMO is boring and repetitive, only the boring and repetitive ones are. Just stay away from them and you won't feel so depressed all the time.

Oh, thanks for the personal attack. It isn't my fault your friends left the game, and you.

Expoloration, eh?  Looked more like random gameplay vids to me.

I have high hopes for this game, but after Champions, I have very little faith in Cryptic as a MMO company.  Here's hoping they don't screw this one up..

Random space battle vids aren't "exploration oriented" anyway...

I hope that blurb came from Cryptic and not MMORPG, because I saw no exploring, someone is bull**itting us.

Just on a side note, since STO will be using the same engine as CO, it will suffer from the same problems that CO has been going through; namely the fact that Nvidia cards running the latest drivers makes the game stutter like crazy, and CO has crashed for multiple hours on every holiday the last  two months (due to the servers having issues if not monitored every minute of the day).

Having played all three, I would recommend EQ2.

EQ2 is the oldest, yet the graphics are still good (better than LOTR, especially shadows and lighting). It has a lot more content than either of the other games, especially AoC.

LOTR is a bit of a grind, no real PVP, a little too boring for my taste

AOC has the absolute worst community, mostly children are playing, expect to be ganked over and over while being called names by very childish individuals. If you want to Role Play, definately stay away from AoC, they have entire guilds on the RP servers dedicated to griefing RP players. Several main features of the game are still broken regardless of all the changes being touted on the AoC forums.

If you liked the LOTR books play LOTRO

If you want a well established game with tons of content decent graphics and a good community play EQ2

If you like being ganked and griefed by children who will say bad things about your momma play AoC

I would hope that other MMO companies take this example that a poor game at launch can be resurrected in quality with some good management (looking at you NCSoft).

Actually I hope other MMO companies see this and not release games in utterly unplayable states (like Funcom has done twice).

Stop encouraging companies like Funcom to release garbage and take an extra 2 years to make the game worth a damn while people pay to be dissappointed.

Congratulations to Funcom-

You have managed to polish this turd to shiny luster, next time try not to make a game that looks smells and feels like a turd.

P.S. - MMORPG has to have the crappiest message editor I have ever seen, it reminds me of  DOS based MS Works.

Very cool!

More room for all of us who do want to play!

Indeed... we don't want any Negative Nigels in our STO universe....

Cryptic spent much more time developing Champions Online...

And kinda' dropped the ball

I hope the STO game turns out OK, but due to the continued problems in CO, the small amount of time developing STO and the very short beta, I feel the game will be released 6 months too early and won't be very much fun.

And definitely won't make you feel like you are in "The Star Trek Universe".

I plan on giving it a try, but 3-6 months AFTER release, I'm sure the pre-release buyers will be disappointed.

Notice that the fanboi brings nothing to the table

The game WAS fun, but after a month the "newness" wears off and the game is rather boring and repetitive.  If you play melee, get used to sucking at PVP and probably getting a little miffed at PVE.

Powers are still far from balanced, some of the powersets are still broken and unplayable (as of Dec 1, I went back to EQ2).

The game has huge potential, more potential than anything released in the last 2 years. For that potential to be realized, the devs have to understand that  the game has no re-playability in its current state. You have to grab damn near every quest in the game just to level up without grinding. If you create a second character, they too will have to grab every quest in the game to level up, once you have played through all the quests twice, you will not want to try it a third time.

The citizen quests give out 75% less experience than do the regular quests at the same level, absolutely a waste of time. All of the new "kill 150 of those" quests are a waste of time as well. Unless you have played the game already, you won't know where to find the "critters", and you spend time hunting around the whole map trying to find them.

The game stutters like a car on bad gas when you use the latest nvidia drivers. No other game has problems with it (it actually improved performance in Dragon Age and EQ2 for me).

The game doesn't suck, it isn't a disaster and I don't see it "dying" in the near future. But it is very boring after a time.

Champions Online is worth the cost of the box and the free first month, and not much more (unless you are a Champions fan or a superhero worshiper).

And Bill Roper does not know anything about "listening to their players". He would need to purchase a dummies guide first.

when are we going to start getting good information unstead of the same old thing.

Could be the same old thing is the only good information available.

I'm keeping an eye on this game, but I fear that it won't have enough testing time and be released pre-maturely, leaving a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths.

I think Funcom needs to be a unanimous choice for a "comeback player of the year" award. They are really trying to right a lot of wrongs. I am excited about the changes and bought 2 gamecards in anticipation of a great release.

Shouldn't we wait until they at least make a comeback?

Righting wrongs and making changes are nice, but until players actually come back they are just preaching to a shrinking choir.

I may consider re-subscribing for a month after R of the G comes out, but I am having too much fun playing single player games right now.  It is amazing to see the difference in quality between MMOs and every other style of computer game on the market. I'm not sure how these companies can make any money putting out weak sauce and expecting the unwashed masses to keep paying until they eventually come around to making it release worthy.

Why have a NDA on what is effectivly an open beta.. how is EQ2 ever ment to grow and attract new people if they hide away?

SoE and others need to be much more open on their products, look at Wow (yes I went there) we have stacks on info on the new expansion and its about 6-8 months away, if these games ever want to grow then need to be more confident in their own products get it out there let people see it.

Not every game company wants to attract the "WoW crowd", I would hope that some companies would prefer customers that were not all taking Ritilin.

Looks pretty good, but I don't think I'm gonna try out STO. I just dislike the idea of everyone Captaining a ship at first. I like fully crewed ships, Players not NPCS, and the teamwork. I am not leaving my shell in SQO just to play basically alone on a ship.

Cryptic, You can do better

Especially with your Budget.

If you check out Champions Online you would realize that no, no they can't do any better.

STO closed beta started last month and it is scheduled to be released in February, not nearly enough time to get the bug reports and fixes needed for release date, and if they do the same thing that they did with the beta of CO, they will ignore the beta testers and release the game in all it's un-finished glory.

I'm not dismissing the game entirely, but I'm not going to bother with it until several months after release, hoping that by that time they might have started to add necessary content and fixed the inevitable imbalance issues.

To Cryptic:

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Meh, Stay away from games open to the Asian market and you never have to deal with gold spammers and bots.

I have never seen the point to paying a monthly fee for a game in which you are so bad at it that you must cheat to level up.

Nope, no joke, nor is it malware.  I found the site in an article in the Sacramento Bee about a year ago in their Tech Section.

My spec's: (for the parts that failed)

Minimum: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz or AMD Athlon X2 3800+
You Have: Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2220 @ 2.40GHz

Video Card
Minimum: NVIDIA GeForce 7950 / ATI Radeon X1800 / Intel HD Graphics
You Have: GeForce 7100 " NVIDIA nForce 630i

That one's no biggie since even I could tell a 7100 is lower than a 7950.

All the other parts; speed, video card attributes, sound etc.... were OK.  Just these 2 items came up as not meeting spec's.

Just because you bought the system last year doesn't mean that it was a good system when you purchased it. Lots of companies sell there old stock at reduced prices just to get it out the door.

The processor and video card in your "last years" system are 3 years out of date. I purchased a used laptop early last year with a core2 2.0 Ghz and an nvidia 8200, and laptops usually lag behind desktop sytem in regards to performance.

Please don't blame STO because you bought a lame computer.

 This article was cute...

Marketing seems to be the only thing that Funcom excels at.
