Suspicious behaviour from Cryptic/Atari.

I am tired and my fingers hurt...I have waged war here, TTH, STO forums, Personal emails to contacts of Atari and Cryptic...I am ready for another to carry on the crusade... Respectfully, -Vox
First off, who cares about the offer? Did the offer insult your mother? Did it slap your baby momma around? No, it did you no physical or mental harm. Wouldn't it be easier just to stop paying them and stop playing the game? But this vendetta that you have against STO is just stupid, Your post history looks like a one man rage fest. Dude, step away from the computer, and stay away from MMOs, you obviously can't handle stress very well.
Anyone having rage issues with MMOs should seek help, (http://www.mentalhelp.net/) can get you started on the right path.

Could you post some proof? I'm sure you are not a bald faced liar, but just posting something without proof is heresay.
To be honest, less posts from people who rush through a few week old game expecting massive content at endgame is good. We need to weed the stupid folks out somehow, and it is illegal to just kill them. |

General: Community Spotlight: Would You Play a Fully PvE MMOG?
News Discussion « General Discussion 2/20/10 10:12:14 AM
Of course I would play A PVE MMO. When I really feel the urge to PVP other people I play FPS (twitch) games, they give everyone an even playing field. That way you can see if you are actually better than someone else rather than depend on "uber gear" to win the fight for you.
With almost all PVP MMOs, it is all about what gear you are wearing, I work for a living so cannot compete with the kids that can stay home all day playing the game and gathering the best PVP gear.
MMOs have brought lameness to the PVP arena, and all the PVP gank kiddies can DIAF |

This game needs lots of work, but most of it is the fundamental problems with MMOs as a whole. Someone needs to design a way to make playing with other people more fun than the typical "let people PVP, group, raid, or do public quest type things." Every MMORPG is boring and repetitive. It really isn't the game, what people mainly seem to need is something that isn't going to drive their friends away so that they have someone to play with. What can we do to mix things up a bit?
A little bitter, aren't you? I am no EQ2 apologist, I think SOE has a track record for spitting in their customers face. But I do now a fun and entertaining game when I play one, EQ2 is a fun and entertaining game, whereas Champions online is not (anymore). Yes this game has issues, and yes the problem lies within the industry. The game companies think that the entire MMO community will accept garbage at launch. (AoC, WAR and DF are examples) . But the reason they think this way is because there are too many moron gamers that will eat a bucket of crap and tell everyone how wonderful it tastes. The real problem is the low expectations of gamers and the IP fans who (just because they like the IP) will lie about how well a game is doing, when all evidence points at the complete opposite. Yes men are just ass kissers, ass kissers are useless And, not every MMO is boring and repetitive, only the boring and repetitive ones are. Just stay away from them and you won't feel so depressed all the time.
Oh, thanks for the personal attack. It isn't my fault your friends left the game, and you. |

Star Trek Online: New Exploration Trailer!

Just on a side note, since STO will be using the same engine as CO, it will suffer from the same problems that CO has been going through; namely the fact that Nvidia cards running the latest drivers makes the game stutter like crazy, and CO has crashed for multiple hours on every holiday the last two months (due to the servers having issues if not monitored every minute of the day). |

Having played all three, I would recommend EQ2.
EQ2 is the oldest, yet the graphics are still good (better than LOTR, especially shadows and lighting). It has a lot more content than either of the other games, especially AoC. LOTR is a bit of a grind, no real PVP, a little too boring for my taste
AOC has the absolute worst community, mostly children are playing, expect to be ganked over and over while being called names by very childish individuals. If you want to Role Play, definately stay away from AoC, they have entire guilds on the RP servers dedicated to griefing RP players. Several main features of the game are still broken regardless of all the changes being touted on the AoC forums.
If you liked the LOTR books play LOTRO If you want a well established game with tons of content decent graphics and a good community play EQ2 If you like being ganked and griefed by children who will say bad things about your momma play AoC

Stop encouraging companies like Funcom to release garbage and take an extra 2 years to make the game worth a damn while people pay to be dissappointed.
Congratulations to Funcom- You have managed to polish this turd to shiny luster, next time try not to make a game that looks smells and feels like a turd.
P.S. - MMORPG has to have the crappiest message editor I have ever seen, it reminds me of DOS based MS Works. |

I hope the STO game turns out OK, but due to the continued problems in CO, the small amount of time developing STO and the very short beta, I feel the game will be released 6 months too early and won't be very much fun. And definitely won't make you feel like you are in "The Star Trek Universe".
I plan on giving it a try, but 3-6 months AFTER release, I'm sure the pre-release buyers will be disappointed. |

Champions Online: Progress Since Launch Interview

Notice that the fanboi brings nothing to the table
The game WAS fun, but after a month the "newness" wears off and the game is rather boring and repetitive. If you play melee, get used to sucking at PVP and probably getting a little miffed at PVE. Powers are still far from balanced, some of the powersets are still broken and unplayable (as of Dec 1, I went back to EQ2).
The game has huge potential, more potential than anything released in the last 2 years. For that potential to be realized, the devs have to understand that the game has no re-playability in its current state. You have to grab damn near every quest in the game just to level up without grinding. If you create a second character, they too will have to grab every quest in the game to level up, once you have played through all the quests twice, you will not want to try it a third time.
The citizen quests give out 75% less experience than do the regular quests at the same level, absolutely a waste of time. All of the new "kill 150 of those" quests are a waste of time as well. Unless you have played the game already, you won't know where to find the "critters", and you spend time hunting around the whole map trying to find them.
The game stutters like a car on bad gas when you use the latest nvidia drivers. No other game has problems with it (it actually improved performance in Dragon Age and EQ2 for me).
The game doesn't suck, it isn't a disaster and I don't see it "dying" in the near future. But it is very boring after a time. Champions Online is worth the cost of the box and the free first month, and not much more (unless you are a Champions fan or a superhero worshiper).
And Bill Roper does not know anything about "listening to their players". He would need to purchase a dummies guide first.

I may consider re-subscribing for a month after R of the G comes out, but I am having too much fun playing single player games right now. It is amazing to see the difference in quality between MMOs and every other style of computer game on the market. I'm not sure how these companies can make any money putting out weak sauce and expecting the unwashed masses to keep paying until they eventually come around to making it release worthy.

STO closed beta started last month and it is scheduled to be released in February, not nearly enough time to get the bug reports and fixes needed for release date, and if they do the same thing that they did with the beta of CO, they will ignore the beta testers and release the game in all it's un-finished glory.
I'm not dismissing the game entirely, but I'm not going to bother with it until several months after release, hoping that by that time they might have started to add necessary content and fixed the inevitable imbalance issues.
To Cryptic: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. |

Meh, Stay away from games open to the Asian market and you never have to deal with gold spammers and bots.
I have never seen the point to paying a monthly fee for a game in which you are so bad at it that you must cheat to level up. |
