I know what you mean. I keep jumping between MMOs. I quit WoW several months ago because i was burnt out once again. I vowed to stay away until Cata but I couldn't resist. I resub'd to AoC, Fallen Earth, Darkfall along with a slew of F2P games but none of them have been able to keep my attention very long. I've been playing FPS games too but those don't last long.

So I'm back  in WoW, playing a couple of my characters, just doing randoms and having some fun. Cata is almost here so I have that to look forward to. I don't know what it is. Besides WoW, I think SWG has been the only other game to keep my attention more than a couple months. I'm sure I'd be going back and forth between WoW and SWG but SWG is only a shell of its former self. Plus the fact I can't even log into the game anymore without getting constant disconnections. It is ridiculous.

My hope is that when GW2, SWTOR, WoD, Forsaken World, along with some others that  I will find one out of the pile I can stay for the long haul and enjoy myself. I hope.

I'm definitely getting the expansion. I recently resub and have been playing alts. I finally got my warrior to 68 so I've begun to quest in North Rend. I'm glad I'm finally away from Outland. Never did like that expansion.

I'm eager to roll a Worgen and Goblin and revisit Azeroth anew. I feel much better now that the Devs reworked the Worgen so they look ferocious. Their previous appearance was too cute. Goblins look badass with their mounts and from the videos I've seen both starting areas for the new races look awesome.

I just hope I'll be able to buy a Collectors Edition this time. The internet sales for the last two expansions made sure I wasn't getting one. They sold so fast it was ridiculous. But for this expansion, I've read they'll be selling them in stores so I'll at least have a chance.

Since you're a hardcore player, I would suggest either Darkfall or Lineage 2. You mentioned gear so I'm not sure if Eve would satisfy you but give it a look.

Well if they did then I for sure would play it.

UO with state of the art isometric, bird-point view gfx would be such a refreshing change from current WoW clone MMOs. But the problem is it would never be done. Why? Because investors would say: It is too different from WoW.

If the DEVs used SC2 graphics/engine, I would certainly give it a whirl. But the way it was/is, it's too outdated.

and the main issue is: tiers. this just won't get changed. it would break their whole concept. but just think about how WAR would be if you could go anywhere and fight anyone.

WAR is PVP on railroad tracks. that just can't work.

QFT. If WAR was more open and not a tier/ladder system I think it would have been a better game. Not to mention, if it was running on a better game engine or if they would make the gameplay more fluid I might still be playing. The response time for actions/spells was really a let down for me.

It seems to me SOE has put in more restrictions than LOTR because they want you to pay the sub. For what they are offering, it is enough to trial the game.

I would try Extended but I've always had connection issue with EQ2.

Rub your eyes really hard for a minute then close them super tight while near some form of light. What do you see? A bunch of black nothingness and possibly faint silhouettes? But seriously though I just dont really understand why people were expecting this. Odds are the people who wanted that form of space is the minority here. So are the people who are happy with space. All us forum goers, here and on the official forums are the minority of who will be subscribers. It's your every day average gaming folk who will make up a big chunk of the subs and will log in after getting the game and go "wow theres space combat? cool!" and it doesn't matter how it looks because they were never a diehard, back in the day star wars fan and they were never a disgruntled SWG vet searching for  those yesterdays and they were never a day to day forum poster cheering and raging about any speculation that comes out..

They are just your average gamers looking to play.... Who don't give 2.. you know what's about how the added space content works. They'll just be happy that it's there at all. And if it wasn't, I don't think it would matter much either. If the game is good, they'll play. If it's not, they wont. They wont pickup a box and go "okay it looks great! ..but whats this..? No free to roam space? RAGE!" /flying elbow drops copy of game and runs out of video store. If thats really your reason for not playing.. then wth?

The entire point of this post was I guess when I think of *most* MMOs. I think of the usual you know.. Create your toon and do your quests to gaing access to new skills, new gear, higher content, harder encounters sort of deal.. Thats the base or core to the game. So the mini game space combat doesn't seem like a big deal.

I understand theres MMOs like eve online that are entirely space based pretty much.

SWTOR and Bioware never claimed to be either of those. Not once. We didn't even know there would be space combat til a few weeks ago. I just thought most people would of figured out what type of game this would be from the very start.

 

And just out of curiosity is it just SWG vets upset by the space combat? Any none SWG players devistate by the space combat? Not trying to hate on anyone just curious.

Yes, I am a SWG Vet and the news about space combat in SWTOR is disappointing. But will that deter me from playing... No.

I've also received those fake emails.

I haven't played Aion or any NCSoft game in a while. I tried to log into my account and can't. I click on Forgot Your Password and I have to answer my secret questions which I don't remember the answers to. So you have to go to their support site and submit a question. The problem is they want account name which is fine, but they also want all the game key codes for my account and last four numbers of my credit card I used for the account. Now, I wouldn't have a problem with this but their Support site is not even secure. So there is no way I'm am submitting a question with all that info to a site that is not even secure. I'll have to live with not playing any NCSoft games.

I doubt it. There track record sucks. City of Heroes was a cool game until you realise there's not much to do in the game except repeat the same boring crap over and over. The only interesting thing was character creation and the powers. But I couldn't be bothered to level up  far enough to see most since it was so boring. Same goes for CO and I didn't even both with STO since I don't care for Star Trek.

Not that I have seen no. But you can always try Fallen Earth.

Looks like some unfinished concept art that they should have spent more time on. You'd think with a reveal like this they would have picked something better.

I would actually be playing EQ2 right now if it weren't for my problems staying connected to the server. Same problems I had with SWG post-NGE. For some reason, I just can't stay connected to the server with those two games anymore. Well, I was never able to stay connected in EQ2.

For me, no jumping/sitting/swimming is a minor annoyance. The main reason I probably won't play this game is because of how slow the game plays. I watched some vids on youtube and it was a big turnoff. Same reason I don't play FFXI. I tried FFXI a while back on PC and playing at a snails pace was so boring.
